My ESP button stays on and including the air bag light and I've tried everything trying to turn it off as well as my engine light and my hard parking brake which keeps turning on and won't turn off while driving and it feels harder to press the gas and I lost complete control on the freeway some how but I believe its due to my ESP button, idk much about cars so this is the best way I can describe it, not many cars around on the freeway but I would've died if there was.. the fuel system is always having issues as well amd ive changed it many times but I'm more worried about the fact that I lost control and the fact that when i use my parking break that the car won't hold completely so please please launch an investigation so I can get my car fixed, thank you.
Throttle body spring broke caused car to keep accelerating. Car would not stop.
My 2005 Kia Sportage dropped on the rear drivers side. The rear drivers side rear constant velocity axle fell out when the rear sub-frame separated from the suspension and split apart. This caused the tire and wheel to angle to 45 degrees out from bottom to top. The rust and corrosion caused a complete failure of the sub-frame's ability to hold the rear wheels on. This was at low speed. This is a well maintained vehicle with no other problems, the engine had been replaced 5-6 years ago. The Kia Sportage of this year range is a commonly used car still utilized today. If this had happened at highway speed it would have been a disaster.

ALL BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF, AFTER SHUTTING OFF CAR.
ROTTED REAR CROSS MEMBER.
TOOK CAR TO HAVE SOMETHING UNRELATED TO THIS CHECKED. WAS TOLD THAT THE FRAME IS RUSTED AND ROTTED REALLY BAD AND IS UNSFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND REMAINS STATIONARY FOR FEAR OF IT COMPLETELY BREAKING OFF AND CAUSING A CATASTROPHE TO MYSELF, MY LITTLE GIRLS OR OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD.
WHILE DRIVING 80MPH ON FREEWAY, CAR STOPPED WITH NO WARNING, WOULDN'T RESTART FOR OVER 30 MINUTES
THE CLUTCH WENT OUT ON OUR KIA SPORTAGE AND WHEN WE HAD IT AT THE AUTO MECHANIC, HE TOLD US, THE FRAME WAS SO RUSTY IT WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. WE WERE ALARMED TO HEAR THIS CONSIDERING WE USED THIS CAR TO TRANSPORT OUR GRANDCHILDREN SOMETIMES AND THOUGHT ABOUT WOULD COULD HAVE HAPPENED. CURRENTLY WE DO NOT EVEN WANT THE CLUTCH REPAIRED AS WE HAVE BEEN TOLD NOT TO CONSIDER EVEN DRIVING IT UNLESS THE FRAME SUB RAILS/FLOOR ARE REPLACED. I HAVE SINCE READ OTHER REVIEWS AND HAVE FOUND SIMILAR ALARMING CONCERNS. KIA SHOULD ADDRESS THIS HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. WE CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR, CANNOT FIX THE CLUTCH, SO IT IS JUST SITTING AT THE MECHANICS. WHAT DO WE DO, JUST JUNK THE CAR? WHAT A COST INFRINGEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (KIA OF MCCOMB IN MCCOMB, MS, 601-250-1005) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELT WAS FAULTY. THE DEALER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO RECEIVED THE SETTLEMENT NOTICE FROM TK HOLDINGS, INC. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,000.
REAR SUBFRAME ROTTED OUT. (,UNSAFE TO DRIVE). KIA SPORTAGE 2005 LOOK LIKE 30 YEARS OLD.
FRAME CORROSION/PERFORATION IN REAR END. MECHANIC SAYS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND CAN'T PASS SAFETY INSPECTION AS REAR AXLE COULD BREAK OFF AT ANY TIME. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL FINANCIAL LOSS FOR ME NOW.
THE REAR CROSS MEMBER THAT HOLDS REAR TIE RODS AND REAR CONNECTING ARMS TO WHEELS IS RUSTED SO BAD IT WILL FAIL. MY EMPLOYER HAS SAME YEAR SAME MODEL BUT IN HYUNDAI HERS IS THE SAME AND DRIVERS SIDE REAR JUST SNAPPED HIKE DRIVING IT'S THE EXACT SAME PART AND RUSTED SO BAD WHEEL COLLAPSED. THIS IS WHY I CHECKED MINE. BOTTOM LINE MAIN SUSPENSION COMPONENT ON KIA AND HYUNDAI SHORTAGE OR DANTE FE FAIL AT 10 YEARS. THERE ARE AS A RECALL TO UNDERCOAT OR REPLACE PARTS UNDER THE CAR DO TO EARLY RUST FAILURE. THIS WAS 6 YEARS AGO. THIS CROSS MEMBER IS BOLTED TO HE FRAME AND I CAN GUARANTEE MOST 2005 HAVE THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRING. IT S ALSO HARD TO LOCATE THE PART AND THEY CHARGE FROM $350- $1000 FOR IT. MY AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON JULY 16 2016. I TOOK THE CAR TO SUSSMAN KIA IN JENKINTOWN PA.TO CHECK LIGHT. I WAS TOLD IT IS A FAULTY SEAT BELT .THE AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE SEAT BELY ASSEMBLY $715.25. THE WORK ORDER INVOICE #52875--20 JULY 2016.SHOULD THIS NOT BE A RECALL ITEM FOR SAFETY BY KIA MOTORS?
AIR BAG LIGHT ON CONTINUALLY. NO ACCIDENT OR DEPLOYMENT.

IN ADDITION, THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE FUEL TANK LINE AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER BRAKE LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BADLY CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.

ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE REFUELING, FUEL LEAKED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NOT A LEAK IN THE FUEL TANK, HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR/OVERFLOW VALVE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THIS COMPLAINT IS ABOUT THE 2005 KIA . FIRST THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AND HAS BEEN ON FOR THE LAST THREE TO FIVE YEARS, THE AUTO MECHANIC THAT I USE AT FIRST SAID THAT IT WAS JUST THE LIGHT INDICATOR AND WAS NOT PROBLEMATIC EXCEPT THAT THE LIGHT WAS ON BUT NOW IS SAYING THAT SINCE THE LIGHT IS ON THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY , AND THAT OF COURSE IS A BIG PROBLEM. SECONDLY, WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK AND WHEN COMPLETED THE CAR STALLS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STARTING, PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT REFILL. THIRD REOCCURRING PROBLEM IS THAT ONE OF THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS SHORT OUT ON A REOCCURRING BASIS.
AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON! TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC TO "FIX IT" FOR $72, AND ONLY TWO WEEKS LATER, THE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN. I WAS TOLD TO PULL ON AND JIGGLE THE PASSENGERS SEAT BELT TO MAKE IT GO OFF, HOWEVER, THAT DOESN'T WORK. DO I WANT TO SPEND ANOTHER $72 TO "FIX IT"? THE COST TO REPLACE THE SENSOR WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $435. WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED, THE BIG RISK IS THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT RESPOND IN AN ACCIDENT. *TT

THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM LACERATIONS AND BRUISING TO THE LEFT ARM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE BOTH LIFTGATE HINGES WERE REPLACED. PURCHASED 2005 (NEW) RIGHT FROM THE SHOWROOM. EIGHT YEARS LATER FIND OUT THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME IS COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT. AND THAT'S PUTTING IT MILDLY. BROUGHT IT TO KIA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. SAID THEY NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE. TOLD ME IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, THAT IF THE FRAME BROKE IN HALF THE BACK TIRES WOULD FALL OFF. ONLY THING HOLDING IT ON IS THE TRAILING ARMS. CLAIM WAS FILED BUT KIA WONT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE OF THE MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND SAID THAT IT WAS FROM THE SALT ON THE ROAD IN THE WINTER. ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT'S THE ONLY PART UNDER THE VEHICLE THAT'S ROTTED AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS SOLID WITHOUT RUST. HMMMM!!!! I HOPE THAT AN INVESTIGATION IS OPENED BECAUSE THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER AND KIA DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. IVE TAKEN PICTURES AND EVERYONE THAT I'VE SHOWN CANT BELIEVE THERE EYES, SAYING THERE'S NO WAY A VEHICLE OF THIS YEAR SHOULD THE SUBFRAME LOOK LIKE THAT. KIA SAID THEY'VE HAD A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT RUST BUT THIS CAN'T EVEN BE CONSIDERED RUST THE HOLES ARE SO...OOOO BIG I COULD PUT MY FIST THROUGH IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA SPORTAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE BRAKES AND DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKES WERE TOO LARGE FOR THE FRONT DISK BRAKES. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BRAKES WITH THE APPROPRIATELY SIZE BRAKES AND REPLACED THE ROTORS. THE REAR BRAKES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA SPORTAGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ABNORMALLY. THE RPM READINGS INCREASED WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEEDS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE UNDER 40 MPH WITHOUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE SENSOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

IN ORDER TO DISENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE CONTACT HAD TO MOMENTARILY APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE ESP COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ALSO INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A SHARP RIGHT TURN WHILE IT WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V318000 (PARKING BRAKE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

THE GLASS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SHATTERED WHEN ROLLING WINDOW DOWN. IT CRACKED HORIZONTALLY ALL ALONG THE EDGE OF THE DOOR. *TR
WHEN DRIVING, USUALLY ON FREEWAY, AS YOU BEGIN TO BRAKE AND EXIT THE FREEWAY, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST STOPS FUNCTIONING, AND STEERING BECOMS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. THE PROBLEM LASTS MAYBE 2 TO 4 SECONDS, AND THEN EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE. NUMEROUS TRIPS TO DEALERSHIPS (THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS, FIVE REPAIR TRIPS) AND THEY CLAIM THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEREFORE "THERE IS NO PROBLEM". KUMHO TIRE RADIAL 798 RADIAL TUBLESS M+S P205/75R15 975 MADE IN KOREA TREAD STEEL 2+ POLYESTER. THE TIRE WAS A NEW TIRE USED AS SPIRE NEVER BEEN ON ROAD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA SPORTAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR AND SHE OBSERVED SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A WIRE INSIDE THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH HER HANDS AND DISCONNECTED THE WIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE BLOWER RESISTOR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND HE SEPARATED THE WIRES TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 54,000.

DURING ALL OF THE 5 INCIDENTS IN 2009 THE ENGINE MISFIRED VIOLENTLY. AT TIMES 35MPH WAS MAX SPEED. CRONIN KIA HAD MY VEHICLE OVER 30 DAYS IN 5 VISITS IN 2009. THEY HAVE REPLACED; TWO CAT. CONVERTERS, THE IGNITION COIL PACK AND SPARK PLUGS, A LEAKING FUEL INJECTOR AND ASSOCIATED WIRING. PLEASE NOTE THE ERROR CODES FOR VISITS 1 AND 5 (3/17/09 AND 7/14/09); P0300-P0303-P0305-P0273. VISIT NUMBER1 ALSO HAD CODES; P0420-P0430 AND P0170. THE DUPLICATE CODES INDICATE THE PROBLEM AFFECTS "BANK 1 ONLY. CODE P0170 SPELLS OUT THE PROBLEM; "FUEL TRIM MALFUNCTION-BANK 1".THE DESTROYED CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WERE THE RESULT OF THE FUEL TRIM PROBLEM. THE SAME FOR THE LEAKING FUEL INJECTOR. I BELIEVE IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE OTHER BANK 1 INJECTORS FAIL. THE FUEL TRIM MUST BE A FUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER. I BELIEVE THE "BANK 1 FUEL TRIM MALFUNCTION" AND/OR THE ELECTRONIC STABILIZATION PROGRAM (ESP) AND/OR THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER ARE THE SOURCE OF THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE ESP; SC-044 - MARCH, 2005. "THE ESP SYSTEM MAY CAUSE THE ENGINE TO REDUCE POWER AND MAY CAUSE A BRAKING ACTION AT ONE OF THE WHEELS". "BRAKE APPLICATION CAUSED BY INADVERTENT ESP ACTIVATION MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND A CRASH".THE FRONT BRAKE PADS ON MY VEHICLE WERE WORN OUT AT 41,000 MILES. I ASKED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE IN AN INITIAL LETTER IF THIS WAS PREMATURE. OF COURSE, I RECEIVED NO ANSWER. AFTER THE NUMBER 5 INCIDENT(JULY, 2009) THE ENGINE WOULD STALL EVEN AFTER A LEAKING FUEL INJECTOR AND ASSOCIATED WIRING WERE REPLACED. IT STALLED LESS THAN A MILE FROM CRONIN AND THREE TIMES THE NEXT DAY. DURING THE NUMBER 5 INCIDENT THE ESP SHUT ITSELF OFF; "ESP OFF" APPEARED IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I PASSED THIS INFORMATION TO JEFF WYLER KIA SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THIS WAS IGNORED. THE FINAL (NUMBER 6) ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM CONSISTED OF A JOY RIDE AFTER WHICH THEY DECLARED; "ALL OPERATIONS ARE NORMAL" THEY CONSIDER THIS PROBLEM AMUSING. THEY REFUSED TO CONTACT KIA! *TR
ON 10/16/08 AT APPROX. 7:20A I WAS T-BONED IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND BACK PASSENGER DOOR BY A FORD F250 RED PICKUP TRUCK AS I WAS TRAVELING UP THE STREET DOING ABOUT 35-40 MPH. HE WAS PULLING OUT OF HIS SUBDIVISION ONTO THE STREET AND HIS PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WAS FOGGED UP SO HE DID NOT SEE ME COMING. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR INTERMITTENTLY DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THE VEHICLE COULD BE TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS BUT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

I HAVE A 2005 KIA SPORTAGE. THE HEADLINER AND SUN VISORS AND THE BACK ARE A CLOTH MATERIAL - THE REST IS LEATHER. THE PROBLEM IS LITTLE TINY BLACK FIBERS ARE COMING THROUGH THE TAN COLORED HEADLINER ETC. THERE FIBERS ARE COMING THROUGH IN ABUNDANCE, LAYING ON THE DASH BOARD AND CONSOLE. IT CAN BE CLEANED ONE DAY AND THE FIBERS ARE THERE AGAIN THE NEXT. THESE FIBERS ARE VERY VERY SMALL. THEY ARE ALSO GETTING ON MY SKIN - THEY ITCH AND STICK TO MY SKIN. THE PRIMARY CONCERN IS THAT THESE FIBERS ARE SO SMALL, AND I KNOW THAT I AM BREATHING THEM IN. HAVE YOU HAD OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. I HAVE CONSULTED THE DEALER AND THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE MAIN WARRANTY DEPT TO GET BACK TO THEM - IN THE MEAN TIME I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY HEALTH - PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
