Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)FUEL HAS BEEN LEAKING FROM TOP OF FUEL TANK SINCE MID AUGUST. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION THE FUEL FLANGE FILTER ASSEMBLY IS CRACKED. THIS CRACK ALLOWS FUEL TO ESCAPE THE CLOSED SYSTEM. PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO LOCAL LAND ROVER DEALER AND WILL BE VERIFIED BY THEM. NO WARNING LAMPS, MESSAGES OR SYMPTOMS PRIOR. SMELL OF GAS AND PUDDLES OF FUEL WHILE IN OPERATION. WHILE PARKED THE PUDDLE AND SMELL ARE EVER MORE PRESENT LONG AFTER ENGINE IS IN STANDBY. MILLAGE OF VEHICLE APPROX. 110,000. NO FIRES OR FATAL INJURIES AS OF YET. MODELS LR4 & RANGE ROVER SPORT (2010-2016) HAVE BEEN ISSUED A RECALL FOR PROBLEM DESCRIBED WITHIN.
The contact’s daughter owns a 2015 Land Rover LR2. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, she became aware of an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle. Additionally, after refueling the vehicle, the following day the fuel tank and fuel level was noticeably lower than expected. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel tank outlet flange was leaking. The contact was informed that the fuel tank outlet flange needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,900.
