[XXX] [XXX] > [XXX] [XXX] > I’m reaching out regarding an issue with Range Rover Las Vegas. Our body shop represents a client whose vehicle requires an aluminum roof-panel replacement. The dealership has refused to sell the part, stating that because it is made of aluminum it may only be sold to JLR-certified facilities. Under Nevada law, registered repair facilities must have access to the necessary parts to perform vehicle repairs. For example, Nevada Revised Statutes 487.6883 states: “Whenever the repair work performed on a motor vehicle requires the replacement of any parts or accessories, the body shop or garage operator shall, at the request of the person authorizing the repairs … deliver to the person all parts and accessories replaced as a result of the work done.” Refusing to sell essential parts on the basis of certification restrictions appears inconsistent with the principles of consumer protection embodied in the statute.
