TAKATA RECALL. WE WERE NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL IN JUNE 2016. IT IS NOVEMBER AND WE HAVE RECEIVED NO FURTHER INFORMATION. SO FAR THE ONLY CORRECTIVE ACTION HAS BEEN TO NOT USE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. IF THE PROBLEM IS SERIOUS, IT'S TIME TO FIX IT OR AT LEAST LET US KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED.

TAKATA RECALL. LEXUS HAS DISTRIBUTED AN "INTERIM NOTICE" OF THIS RECALL THAT ADVISES OWNERS NOT TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE LETTER STATES LEXUS IS "TAKING THIS ACTION TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY". IN REALITY, THE NOTICE IS AN OBVIOUS ATTEMPT TO PROTECT LEXUS FROM ANY LIABILITY. THIS NOTICE WAS SENT THREE MONTHS AGO, AND YET THERE IS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. THE RECOMMENDED SOLUTION IS IMPRACTICAL FOR MOST FAMILIES. THE QUESTION IS HOW LONG SHOULD CONSUMERS CONSIDER IS A "REASONABLE" TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM TO BE CORRECTED. THE ISSUE ESSENTIALLY PREVENTS AN OWNER FROM HONESTLY TRADING, SELLING, OR OTHERWISE DISPOSING OF THE VEHICLE WHILE THE PROBLEM EXISTS. I ALSO LEASE ANOTHER LEXUS VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD BY LEXUS THAT I COULD DRIVE THAT ONE WHILE WE WAITED FOR THE RECALL TO BE RESOLVED. THAT ADDS MILES TO MY LEASE OBLIGATION THAT WERE NOT PLANNED FOR. LEXUS INDICATED THEY WOULD PROVIDE ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION, BUT I HAVE RECEIVED NO CONFIRMATION OF THAT OFFER. THE VEHICLE THAT I PURCHASED IS NOT USABLE THROUGH NO FAULT OF MINE, AND IT DOES NOT APPEAR THERE IS ANY URGENCY BY LEXUS TO CORRECT THE FAULT SINCE THE LIABILITY HAS BEEN COVERED BY AN "INTERIM NOTICE". THAT IS THE BASIS OF MY COMPLAINT.

WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT HAD TO ABRUPTLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IT FAILED TO RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. TAKATA RECALL. LEXUS STATES THAT "DO NOT OPERATE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT". HAVE DONE THIS SINCE MAY 2016. THIS IS AN UNREASONABLE REQUEST FOR A FAMILY OF 5. TO DATE, LEXUS HAS EXCEEDED THE TIME FRAME TO REPLACE THE AIR BAGS AND NO REPLACEMENT IN SIGHT. HAVE CALLED LEXUS..STILL NO TIMELINE FOR REMEDY. MY SON'S HONDA PILOT AIRBAG HAS BEEN REPLACED. IS LEXUS WAITING FOR AN ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN? WE NEED YOU TO PUSH LEXUS TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM.

UP TO DATE, LEXUS STILL HAS KO REMEDY TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG! THEY CHARGE A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS LUXURY VEHICLE BUT NOT FAST ENOUGH TO FIXED THE SAFETY ISSUE WHICH OBVIOUSLY COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I ALWAYS HAVE MY 3 1/2 MONTH OLD BABY IN THE CAR AND I AM SCARED TO THINK ABOUT THE METAL FRAGMENTS THAT CAN HARM MY BABY ONCE THE AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED. COME ON LEXUS, HAVE THE HUMANITY IN FIXING THE DEFECTIVE AIR BAG YOU PLACED IN YOUR LUXURY CARS! YOU SHOULD GET IN TROUBLE OR BE FINED FOR ACTING SOOOO SLOW TO FIX THE ISSUE. I WONDER HOW MANY DEATHS HAVE BEEN REPORTED DUE TO YOUR LACK OF ACTION!

WE RECEIVED A NOTICE BY MAIL THAT THE AIRBAGS IN OUR VEHICLE WAS BEING RECALLED AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING REPAIR WOULD BE FORTHCOMING. THE NOTICE WAS RECEIVED MAY 2016, ALMOST A YEAR AGO AND NO FURTHER NOTICE HAS BEEN RECEIVED. THE ONLY RECOMMENDATION FROM LEXUS WAS TO NOT HAVE ANYBODY SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WHICH MEANS NOT HAVING FULL USE OF MY OWN VEHICLE. THIS DELAY IN TAKING ACTION IS UNACCEPTABLE.

ON 3/20/17 WAS NOTIFIED IT WOULD BE BY THE LAST QUARTER OF 2017. THAT MEANS WE HAVE NOT HAD USE OF THE PASSENGER SEAT FOR PROBABLY A YEAR. THEY OFFER A 35.00 ALLOWANCE TO HAVE A VEHICLE WHICH WOULD NOT BE THE EQUAL OF WHAT WE HAVE. I BELIEVE MORE PRESSURE SHOULD BE PUT ON LEXUS.
