The contact stated that on three occasions while reversing into a parking space, the brakes engaged along with the automatic braking system without warning. While driving 55 mph while applying the brake pedal the vehicle vibrated and made an abnormal bumping noise. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where diagnosed the rotors needed to be shaved down and resurfaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was provided with a loaner vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000. The contact stated the failure was due to the automatic braking system.
RIGHT SIDE BSM INDICATOR COMES ON UNPROMPTED AND STAYS ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, SOMETIMES UNTIL I RESTART THE CAR. I PRESENTED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR OF THE DEFECT AND THEY STATED NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE STATING 'THE SENSOR MUST BE MISALIGNED DUE TO ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE. EVEN BRUSHING YOUR LEG AGAINST THE BUMPER CAN DISLODGE IT.' MY CAR HAS HAD NO DAMAGE TO THE REAR BUMPER.
