The contact owns a 2024 Lexus ES 300h. The contact stated that while his wife was in reverse (R) and backing up into a parking space at approximately 2 MPH, she crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The contact stated that his wife did not hear the rear collision proximity alarm, and the vehicle did not automatically brake. The contact stated that the other vehicle was not damaged, but the contact's vehicle had damage to the driver's rear bumper and trunk. The contact stated that his wife was able to drive the vehicle away. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure and advised that all collision avoidance sensors were operating normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
Vehicle Blind Spot indicator did not come on while car was on side of Vehicle on trip to Atlanta. If car did not honk we surely would have had an accident. I started to monitor when the light came on and noticed in was extremely inconsistent with respect to how for an approaching vehicle was from ours before activating. Sometimes it would come on 3 or more car lengths before reaching our bumper, sometimes after car was 1/3 of the way past our bumper, sometimes not before car was completely in blindspot or later. I filmed this but was only able to show the caring distances, and could not get an example of completely in blindspot with monitor not activated. Dealer and Lexus refuse to fix issue. The two side mirrors do not show cars coming up on the side while driving by yellow warning light. It also does not show the turn signal lights when they are turned on left and right. It seems the side sensors are not working.
