DURING VEHICLE SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE RACK OF POWER STEERING IS LEAKING, WHICH COSTS AROUND $1500 FOR REPLACING POWER STEERING RACK. AFTER LOOKING ON LINE, I FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR RX 350 WITH LOW MILEAGE . THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE LEXUS SHOULD RECALL AND TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
The contact owns a 2009 Lexus RX350. The contact stated that the dashboard had started to crack, causing the dashboard to become sticky. Over time, there was a glare coming from the dashboard which obstruct the contact’s vision while driving. The contact stated that there was condensation in the headlight housings. In addition, there was a puddle of oil was discovered leaking from the vehicle while parked in a parking garage. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the engine oil cooler pipe was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that each of the failures had been covered under warranty; however, the warranties had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The engine cooler hose had been replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
I SAW WHITE SMOKE IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR WHILE DRIVING ON A STREET. NO ENGINE LIGHTS APPEARED. I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY A FEW MINUTES EARLIER. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED MY LEXUS DEALER, WHO REGULARLY DOES MY MAINTENANCE. I HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER, WHO SAID IT WAS THE VVTI OIL COOLER HOSE AND IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. NEXT DAY, DEALER TELLS ME THEY REPLACED THE VVTI HOSE BUT IT WAS STILL LEAKING. IT WAS A DIFFERENT RUBBER OIL HOSE AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I AM NOT HAPPY. I SEE THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA AND LEXUS SO WHY DIDN'T MY DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE VVTI HOSE DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WARN ME ABOUT THE RUBBER HOSE PROBLEM, SO I COULD REPLACE IT WITH A METAL ONE BEFORE IT LEAKED. I HOPE THERE IS NO ENGINE DAMAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LEXUS RX350 EQUIPPED WITH CAPITOL PRECISION TRAC II TIRES, SIZE 245/65R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOOK WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRE TREAD WAS SEPARATED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,375 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
TOOK TO DEALER FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGE. THE 25 POINT CHECK - RIGHT SIDE RACK AND PINION LEAKING, RIGHT REAR STRUT LEAKING FRONT BRAKES LOW BATTERY FAIL TEST FROM A BATTERY I RECEIVED FROM LEXUS IN 2012. BRAKE FLUID FLUSH NEED 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE CORPORATION NEEDS TO DO A RECALL I'VE RESEARCHED TO MANY OF THESE VEHICLES ARE BEING CITED WITH THIS RACK AND PINION. THEY RECALLED PRIOR YEARS WHY NOT THE 2009 AND UP? I AM TO RECEIVE ASSISTANCE WITH THE LABOR, BUT AS WE KNOW LABOR IS THE BULK OF CHARGES.
I TOOK MY RX350 FOR REGULAR SERVICE AND ASKED FOR THE STEERING TO BE CHECKED SINCE IT MADE NOISE AND DID NOT FEEL SECURE WHEN MAKING HARD OR SHARP TURNS AND WHEN PARKING IN TIGHT SPOTS. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY RACK & PINION ASSEMBLY WAS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AND IT COULD BE HAZARDOUS IF NOT ADDRESSED. IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LEXUS ESTIMATE WAS $2000! GIVEN THE AGE, I HAD LESS THAN 80K MOSTLY LOCAL AND HIGHWAY MILES ON THE SUV. WHEN I RESEARCHED COST ESTIMATES I FOUND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. I BELIEVE LEXUS SHOULD ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND REIMBURSE THE OWNERS WHO HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET! AFTER I SAVED UP TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR THE COST WAS $2058.11!
THE FRONT LENSES HAVE TURNED A YELLOW COLOR WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT.
The contact owns a 2009 Lexus RX350. The contact stated that a crack had formed on the dashboard extending horizontally from the driver’s side instrument panel to the passenger’s side air bag housing. The contact also stated that the dashboard was sticky and appeared to be melting. The contact notified the dealer of the failure and was insured that the dashboard would not affect any safety features in the vehicle. The manufacturer had also been notified of the failure and was informed that an extended warranty had been placed on the vehicle however, the warranty had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. The contact mentioned concerns about whether or not the airbags would deploy on their own without an accident because of the crack.
WATER PUMP FAILED ON 2009 LEXUX RX350 AT 61500 MILES AND JUST 4 MONTHS OVER THE POWERTRAIN WARRENTY. LEXUS DECLINED THE CLAIM. ENGINE OVERHEATING CAUSED HEAD GASKET FAILURE AND WARPED CYLINDER HEAD. 1.AS PER LOCAL MECHANIC WHO REPLACED WATER PUMP , THERE WERE INDICATION OF COOLANT LEAKING FROM WATER PUMP SEAL AND IT MUST BE LEAKING FOR QUITE LONG TIME, EVEN WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THERE WAS ENOUGH VOLUME OF COOLANT WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED, INDICATES THAT LEAKAGE WAS VERY MINOR AND MY NOT APPEAR ON THE FLOOR WHERE CAR WAS PARKED. 2.WATER PUMP IS PART OF POWERTRAIN AND HAS NO DIRECT INFLUENCE OF DRIVING PATTERN. FAILURE OF WATER PUMP AT 61000 MILES IS VERY PRE-MATURE AND INDICATE TOWARD INHERENT PROBLEM WITH WATER PUMP QUALITY. 3.SAFETY ISSUE: THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF WATER PUMP FAILURE UNTIL LAST MOMENT WHEN IT ACTUALLY GAVE UP AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME UP. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE TIME BEFORE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON AND FURTHER DAMAGE DUE TO OVERHEATING. IF IT WAS IGNORED FOR COUPLE OF MILES CAR WOULD HAVE CAUGHT INTO FIRE 4.POWERTRAIN WARRANTY IS 70000 MILES OR 72 MONTHS, WHEREAS CARS MILEAGE IS 61000 AND TIME SINCE FIRST USAGE IS 75 MONTHS (JUST 3 MONTHS OVER THE WARRANTY). CONSIDERING CLOSE PROXIMITY TO WARRANTY EXPIRATION, LEXUS SHOULD CONSIDER THIS FOR WARRANTY EXTENSION. 5.THIS ENGINE SERIES ( 3.5L ) IS INFAMOUS FOR COOLING SYSTEM ISSUES AND SEVERAL SERVICE BULLETINS HAVE BEEN ISSUED REGARDING IT. 6.SEVERAL COMPLAINS HAVE BEEN FILED ABOUT THE SIMILAR PROBLEM, WHERE WATER PUMP FAILURE AND SUBSEQUENT ENGINE DAMAGE
WATER PUMP FAILED WITHOUT ANY INDICATION OF FAILURE. I WAS GOING ON HIGHWAY AND ALL OF SUDDEN VSC LIGHT CAME UP . AFTER DRIVING A MILE ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP. SINCE NEXT EXIT WAS 3 MILES I DROVE THROUGH EXIST AND PULL CAR ON SAFE PARKING LOT. BY THE TIME I STOPPED VEHICLE, I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT OF ENGINE. I HAD TO CALL AAA AND GET IT TOWED TO LOCAL MECHANIC FOR PRIMARY DIAGNOSTIC BEFORE I TOWED IT OVER TO LEXUS DEALERSHIP 25 MILES AWAY. CALLED LEXUS DEALERSHIP BUT THEY REFUSED TO COVER UNDER LEXUS POWER TRAIN WARRANTY ( 72 MONTHS OR 70000 MILES ) JUST BECAUSE WARRANTY EXPIRED 3 MONTHS BACK EVEN THOUGH MILEAGE ARE STILL UNDER THE LIMIT. DEALERSHIP ASKED ME TALK TO LEXUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. I CALLED LEXUS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM ASKING THEM TO PROVIDE GOODWILL WARRANTY COVERAGE. LITERALLY , THE WORST PEOPLE I DEALT WITH . THEY REFUSED TO TAKE ANY ACCOUNTABILITY OF ISSUE AND ASK ME TO GO AND GET IT REPAIRED. MY BASES FOR ASKING WARRANTY COVERAGE WAS DUE TO 1. CLOSE TO WARRANTY EXPIRATION DATE ( JUST OVER 3 MONTHS AND STILL UNDER MILEAGE 61,000) 2. FIRE HAZARD DUE TO FAILURE OF COOLANT PUMP WITHOUT ANY INDICATION. 3. DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AT LEXUS DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING RACK WAS LEAKING AND THE ENTIRE RACK NEEDED REPLACING SOON AS IT POSES A SAFETY ISSUE. LEARNED THIS IS A VERY COMMON REOCCURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR AND VALIDATED AS SUCH ON-LINE. ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR THAT I WAS QUOTED: $1,678.85. DUE TO THE POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AND NUMBER OF OCCURRENCES I DO NOT SEE HOW THIS IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE AND THAT THE COST SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER AS IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
WHILE HAVE MY CAR SERVICED, THE SHOP INFORMED ME THAT THE STEERING RACK WAS LEAKING FLUID AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED AT A COST (PARTS & LABOR) OF $1562. THIS SEEMS OUTRAGEOUS TO ME GIVEN THAT THE CAR HAS ABOUT 33K MILES ON IT. WHEN I CHECK THE BLOG ON ARFC.ORG, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. WHY HAS LEXUS NOT BEEN REQUIRED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM?

I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE OF AN OIL CHANGE ON MARCH 21, 2015. I WAS INFORMED BY MY ADVISOR THAT THE POWER RACK & PINION ASSY. IS LEAKING FLUID. THE ENTIRE ASSY. HAS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1, 900.00 (REALLY). IF THE FLUID IS LEAKING THAT WOULD AFFECT MY STEERING THE VEHICLE AND TURNING (GOD FORBID). THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD HOW CAN THIS POSSIBLY BE. DUE TO THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH MY FAMILY. MOST RECENTLY, WAS ADVISED THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT $4,400. FOR A CAR WITH SUCH A GREAT REPUTATION, AND NOW SEEING ALL OF THE OTHER LEXUS OWNERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR TRANSMISSION, ITS SEEMS AS IF THERE IS A TREND OF TRANSMISSION ISSUES THAT FOLLOW THESE VEHICLES. *TR
T-SB-0201-11 FROM TOYOTA/LEXUS STATES "SOME VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2GR-FE/FXE TOWING PACKAGE ENGINES MAY EXHIBIT AN OIL SEEP FROM THE ENGINE OIL COOLER PIPES." THIS TSB AFFECTS TOYOTA AND LEXUS VEHICLES GOING BACK TO AT LEAST 2008-PRESENT. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE, AND I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE HANDLED AS A RECALL INSTEAD OF A TSB DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE ISSUE IF/WHEN THE PIPE BREAKS. I RECENTLY ELECTED TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED ON MY OWN JUST SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS ISSUE HAPPENING TO ME OR MY WIFE, AND THUS BLOWING UP MY LEXUS RX 350'S ENGINE CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGES. SEEMS PRETTY BAD THAT A RECALL CAN BE ISSUED FOR FLOOR MATS AND ACCELERATOR ISSUES, BUT NO RECALL IS ISSUED FOR THIS ISSUE WHICH CAN DRAIN THE OIL FROM YOUR ENGINE IN A MINUTE, BLOW UP YOUR ENGINE, AND THEN POSSIBLY WRECK YOUR VEHICLE. CONSUMER'S ENGINES ARE NOW BEING DESTROYED, AND THIS IS SHOWING UP IN DIFFERENT ONLINE FORUMS. I FEEL THAT THE NHTSA NEEDS TO FORCE TOYOTA/LEXUS TO REPLACE ALL OF THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE OIL COOLER PIPES WITH THE NEWER METAL ONES THAT THE TSB ADDRESSES. THEY SHOULD ALSO BE FORCED TO REIMBURSE ALL COSTS TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS THAT EITHER NEEDED TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE, OR DECIDED TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE AS PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE ON THEIR OWN BEFORE THOSE PIPES BURST ON THEIR OWN. *TR

VEHICLE STARTED LEAKING OIL AND WITHIN 50 YARDS LOST ALL ENGINE OIL. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOUND OIL COOLER PIPE HAD LEAKED AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY - PARTS NUMBERS - 15767-31020, 11496-31010, 15785-31010. *TR
MY LEXUS RX350 DASHBOARD AND WINDOORS ARE MELTING AND GET REALLY STICKY WHEN I PULL THE WINDOORS DOWN ALL THE STICKY MELTING BLACK RESIDUE GOT ON THE WINDOORS SO IT'S BEING A WHILE SINCE I WENT TO THE LEXUS DEALER THEY WERE NOT HELPING THEY SAID THAT I HAVE TO PUT MY NAME IN A WAITING LIST WHICH I DID NOW IT'S BEEN A WHILE EVERYTIME I CALL THEM THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO WAIT

DASH IS STICKY, CRACKING AND CRUMBLING. TAILGATE HANDLE SO STICKY IT HAS TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE OF $180. VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT. I HAVE BEEN ON A WAITING LIST FOR OVER A YEAR. I WOULD LIKE A NEW CAR BUT NO ONE WILL TAKE THIS ONE.
I TOOK OUR 2009 LEXUS RX 350 IN FOR ROUTINE 60K MILE SERVICE AND WAS NOTIFIED BY THE SERVICE ADVISER OF A POWER STEERING LEAK WHICH WOULD REQUIRE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RACK AND PINION MECHANISM. WAS QUOTED A COST OF $1700 - $1800 FOR THE REPLACEMENT. I DENIED THE SERVICE RECOMMENDATION. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, IT BECAME CLEAR THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH TOYOTA/LEXUS SHOULD ADDRESS. *TR
ON 22 JULY 2014, I PROCEEDED TO THE LEXUS OF HUNTSVILLE DEALERSHIP FOR A 75,000 OIL CHANGE, TIRE ROTATION, AND SERVICE MAINTENANCE FOR MY 2009 RX 350. I WAS TOLD THAT THE RACK AND PINION STEERING HAD A LEAK NEAR THE LEFT SIDE BOOT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I ALSO WAS TOLD THAT MY FRONT AND REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE SERVICED AS WELL. I WAS GIVEN AN APPROXIMATE QUOTE OF $1600.00 TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION STEERING PART, AND A NEEDED FRONT END ALIGNMENT ALONG WITH HAVING MY FRONT AND REAR BRAKES REPLACED AND THE ORIGINAL OIL CHANGE, AND TIRE ROTATION. I ENDED UP PAYING $2,265.00 THAT DAY. I WENT AHEAD AND HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED WITH THE INTENT OF FILING THIS COMPLAINT AS I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT LEXUS HAD A HISTORY OF THESE RACK AND PINION STEERING AND BOOTS LEAK AS I SHOWED HIM THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE. IN ADDITION TO PAY AT LEAST $38,00 DOLLARS FOR THIS VEHICLE AND STILL GET CHARGED FOR A MAJOR PART TO HAVE IT FIX IS WORTHY FOR A COMPLAINT. TO HAVE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PARTS OVER THE AMOUNT OF YEARS TELLS ME WHY HAVEN'T THIS BEEN ON THE RECALL LISTS AND WHAT ARE YOU ALL WAITING FOR? WILL IT TAKE A FATALITY TO GET THE ATTENTION OF A RECALL. I LIVE PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK, AND THIS HAS PUT ME IN A MAJOR BIND FINANCIALLY. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR

I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AN OIL LEAK AFTER HAVING MY OIL CHANGED, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE RACK AND PINION STEERING WAS LEAKING FROM A CRACK IN THE BOOT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS CHARGED OVER $1400.00 TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION STEERING PART. A DISCUSSION WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND A REVIEW OF A NUMBER OF WEBSITES MAKES IT OBVIOUS THAT THIS HAS BECOME A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. *TR
I OWN A LEXUS SUV, MY THIRD LEXUS/TOYOTA BRAND VEHICLE. SO I TRUSTED THE SAFETY AND RELIABILITY. ONE DAY EVERYTHING IS FINE. THE NEXT DAY, I SEE A SMALL CRACK IN THE LOWER PART OF THE DASHBOARD OF THE PASSENGER SEAT. LITERALLY, ONE DAY FINE AND THE NEXT CRACKED AND WITHOUT A SINGLE INCIDENT THAT CAUSED IT. I DO NOT TRUST THAT THIS DASHBOARD IS SAFE AS I AM GREATLY CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAG (S) WILL BE COMPROMISED. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT IT COULD COMPONENTS INTEGRAL TO THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS WELL-KNOWN ISSUE WITH TOYOTA AND LEXUS (AFFECTING TENS OF THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES) YET LITTLE TO NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN AND I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST A RECALL. IT HAS BEEN COVERED EXTENSIVELY IN NEWS STORIES, ON THE WEB AND BY DEALERSHIPS CONCERNED ABOUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND SAFETY. THERE ARE ALSO KNOWN TO BE INTERNAL DOCUMENTS BY TOYOTA THAT ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED LEXUS CORPORATE AND IT SENT ME TO A LOCAL LEXUS DEALER TO DOCUMENT THE ISSUE AND THIS WENT BACK TO LEXUS CORPORATE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG THAT WAS MOUNTED INSIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE CHEST AND NECK AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
I TOOK MY LEXUS RX350 TO MY TIRE SHOP FOR ALIGNMENT AND NEW TIRES. UPON, INSPECTION OF STEERING RACK THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED RACK AND PINION RIGHT BOOT WAS WET WITH POWER STEERING FLUID. THE SHOP RECOMMENDED THAT STEERING RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE OWNED TOYOTAS AND LEXUS ALL MY LIFE AND NEVER HAVE STEERING RACK ISSUES BEFORE. ESPECIALLY AT THIS LOW MILEAGE. EXPLODING PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR I OWN A 2009 LEXUS RX-350. IT'S IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH LIMITED MILEAGE. LAST WEEK, WE WERE STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT WHEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS A VERY LOUD & FRIGHTENING EXPLOSION EMANATING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR. SWITCH ASSEMBLY BACK DOOR OPENER IS MELTED. IT IS GOOEY AND COMES OFF ON YOUR FINGERS.THIS SWITCH WAS ALREADY LIKE THIS WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE.
ON OR ABOUT MARCH 5TH 2014, I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE TAILGATE ON OUR 2009 LEXUA RX350 AND ENCOUNTERED HOT MELTED RUBBER STICKING TO MY FINGERS. I REMOVED THE STICKY BLACK RUBBER FROM THE LOCK, BUT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO REMOVE THE TAR-LIKE MATERIAL. AS A CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN, I CONCLUDED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SWITCH ON THAT TAILGATE LOCK STUCK AND HEATED TO A POINT THAT MELTED RUBBER, MAKING A GOO-LIKE MATERIAL. PLEASE NOTE THIS ABOVE REFERENCED CAR WAS NOT IN THE SUN DURING THE TIME THE RUBBER MELTED. WE HAVE BEEN USING THIS VEHICLE WITHOUT USING THE TAILGATE LOCK WITH THE RUBBER BOOT, BECAUSE WE DO NOT LIVE WITHIN 80 MILES OF A LEXUS DEALER, NOT CAN PAY THE $295 TO REPLACE THE BOOT AT THIS TIME. *TR
RECALL THERE HAS BEEN A SERIES OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE DASHBOARD OF LEXUS GETTING STICKY AND CRACKING FURTHER AND FURTHER AS TIME GOES BY. I AM NOW ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS LIST OF UNSATISFIED AND CONCERNED OWNER. MY 2009 LEXUS RX350 HAS NOTICEABLE STICKINESS IN THE DASHBOARD AND CRACKING IN CERTAIN LOCATIONS ALL OVER THE DASHBOARD. WHAT IS ALARMING IS THAT THE CRACKS ARE BEGINNING TO BE MORE NOTICEABLE AROUND OR ON THE AIRBAG LOCATION ON THE DASHBOARD. I AM ALARMED AND CONCERNED BECAUSE OF HOW THE CRACKS IS SPREADING IT MAY CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY ACCIDENTALLY. THEY FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE WAS THE PINS HAD WORKED THEMSELVES OUT ON THE REAR PLANET ASSEMBLY GEARS, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. UPDATED 02/14/14
WHILE DRIVING IN THE VERY BUSY FREEWAY, THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING OR ANY SIGNAL. UPON LEXUS DEALER INSPECTION, THE CAUSE WAS , BOLTS USED TO SECURE THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING CONTROL DEVICE CAN BECOME LOOSE, ONE OF THE BOLTS CAME OUT AND CAUSED THE TIMING CHAIN TO BREAK AND IT BROKE THE ENGINE HEAD, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STOP WHILE BEING DRIVEN. LEXUS HAS NOT RECALLED THE RX 350 MODELS, HOWEVER ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2013 LEXUS HAS RECALLED IS 350, IS 350C AND GS 350 VEHICLES FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON. MY CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED AT LEXUS DEALER. ACCORDING TO LEXUS SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO PREVENT THIS OR TO KNOW. THE SUDDEN STOP OF THE VEHICLE IN THE FREEWAY AS THE RESULT OF THIS ENGINE FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHICH WAS VERY LIFE THREATENING. THESE ENGINES HAS TO BE RECALLED FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR BY LEXUS. LEXUS DID NOT ACCEPT THE FAULT EVEN THOUGH THEY ACCEPTED TO PAY PARTIAL PART OF THE COST OF THE REBUILDING THE ENGINE AS A COURTESY. *TR
AFTER A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE AT 94,000 I WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION NEEDS REPLACEMENT FOR A FEE OF $1854, PLUS BRAKE PAD AND REPLACEMENT AND RESURFACING OF THE REAR ROTORS FOR $385. I FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF OIL LEAKAGE ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR REGULAR SERVICE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND THEY RECOMMENCED SEVERAL THINGS, INCLUDING REPLACING THE POWER STEERING RACK DUE TO A LEAK. I GOT A SECOND OPINION BEFORE REPLACING IT AND THEY SAID IT SEEMED VERY ODD TO HAVE THAT AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. I THEREFORE DID LOTS OF RESEARCH TO SEE IF I WAS JUST UNLUCKY AND HAVE FOUND MANY PEOPLE THAT OWN A LEXUS OR TOYOTA HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. 2009 LEXUS RX 350. ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR BAG MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE CONSUMER WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO THE SIDE OF HER VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO A LETTER FROM TOYOTA, THE IMPACT WAS DIRECTED AT THE LEFT FRONT DOOR, WHICH WAS A MORE YIELDING PORTION OF THE VEHICLE. THE B-PILLAR WAS NOT IMPACTED AND DEPLOYMENT WAS NOT WARRANTED. THE SIDE TORSO AIR BAGS WERE DESIGNED TO HELP MITIGATE SERIOUS INJURY TO THE OCCUPANTS TORSO, AND IT WOULD NOT HAVE PREVENTED THE TYPE OF INJURY THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED.
2009 LEXUS RX 350. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE BRAKES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES WOULD VIBRATE WHEN HE/SHE REACHED A HIGH SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND FIXED FREE OF CHARGE. HOWEVER, 5,000 MILES LATER THE PROBLEM RETURNED.
