TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 LINCOLN MKS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE ADVANCED SERVICE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (TINDOL FORD, 1901 E. FRANKLIN BLVD, GASTONIA, NC 28054) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO A BLOCKAGE TO THE POWER STEERING MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 161,000.
WHILE SERVICING MY LINCOLN MKS WITH AN OIL CHANGE, I NOTICED A BROWNISH FLUID LEAKING FROM MY INNER FRONT WHEEL AREA. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THAT FLUID WAS FOR, SO I GOOGLED IT AND IT SAID IT COULD BE FROM A DEFECTIVE PTU ON MY AWD LINCOLN MKS. AT 34,983 MILES, I TOOK IT TO MY LINCOLN DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, AND IT WAS IN FACT A DEFECTIVE PTU. THE MKS WAS A CERTIFIED VEHICLE SO THE COSTLY REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. HOWEVER THE REPLACEMENT UNIT WILL ALSO FAIL AS FORD STATES THAT IT IS LIFETIME GEAR FLUID AND IT DOES NOT NEED FLUSHED OR CHANGED. THE PTU IS LOCATED DIRECTLY NEAR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSES THE FLUID TO OVERHEAT AND TO BREAK DOWN CAUSING THE GEARS TO FAIL IN THE UNIT. OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE ACTUALLY AN ADAPTED VERSION OF THAT PTU WITH A DRAIN PLUG FOR REGULAR FLUSH AND FILL MAINTENANCE BUT NOT VEHICLES IN THE US. CONSUMERS HAVE MADE VIDEOS OF HOW THEY HAVE INSTALLED THEIR OWN DRAIN SYSTEM ON THE PTU TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO DRAIN AND REPLACE THE DEGRADED AND USELESS FLUID IN THE UNIT. THIS IS A SEVERE PROBLEM THAT NEEDS HANDLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 LINCOLN MKS. WHILE DRIVING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BEAM. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO BOTH KNEES, THE LEFT ARM, NECK, AND BACK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 LINCOLN MKS. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND PLACING THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP ELECTRIC MODULE FAILED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY KOONS SILVER SPRING FORD (3111 AUTOMOBILE BLVD, SILVER SPRING, MD 20904, (855) 765-9649) THAT THE PART HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUGGESTED REPLACEMENT PART WAS NOT COMPATIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V621000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
ON 7/13/17 MY A/C FDIM MODULE WAS REPLACED FOR FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING THE DEFECTIVE UNIT WOULD TURN ITSELF ON IN THE AIR CONDITIONING MODE AND BEGIN ON THE COOLEST DIGITAL SETTING THEN PROGRESSIVELY ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE UNTIL IT REACHED IT HIGHEST POINT. I TRIED SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO TURN THE TOUCH SCREEN OFF BUT THE UNIT KEPT TURNING THE A/C ON AND WOULD HAVE HARMED THE A/C COMPRESSOR. IT WAS SUMMER TIME AND THE HEAT ON HIGH AND WAS UNCONTROLLABLE WAS NOT A GOOD SITUATION.THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE LINCOLN DEALERSHIP TO FIND THAT THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE. SINCE THE LINCOLN MKS WAS A CERTIFIED CAR, IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT NO COST TO ME. HOWEVER, I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS NEW UNIT COULD FAIL IN THE FUTURE WITH NO WARRANTY LEFT ON THE VEHICLE AT ABOUT $1400.00 OR MORE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE HAS BEEN ANOTHER CASE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THERE MAY BE OTHERS THAT I AM NOT AWARE OF. I AM JUST COMMUNICATING MY ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE AT ONLY 33,308 MILES.

THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK AND POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. AS A RESULT, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 LINCOLN MKS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE CONTACT DETECTED A FUEL ODOR AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DAVE SINCLAIR FORD (7466 S LINDBERGH BLVD, ST. LOUIS, MO 63125) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V621000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VOGLER MOTOR COMPANY (1170 E MAIN ST, CARBONDALE, IL 62901) WHERE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED ONCE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. VOGLER FORD STATED THAT THEY WOULD TOW THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 LINCOLN MKS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED RANDOMLY WITHOUT WARNING. OCCASIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. MONTHS LATER, THE MANUFACTURER SENT A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V621000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO DETERMINE THE MANUFACTURER'S SOLUTION TO SCHEDULE A RECALL REPAIR WITH THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM A TRIP OUT OF STATE WHEN I WAS DRIVING I CAN FEEL THAT IT WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING WHEEL IT WAS KIND OF STIFF. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT GOT WORSE TO THE POINT TO WHERE IT HAD A MIND OF ITS ON AND THE LIGHT CAME ON SAYING LOSS OF POWER WHEEL STEERING. I THEN GOT OFF ON AN EXIT THINKING I NEEDED POWER STEERING FLUID STOP AT AN ORILEYS STORE AND BOUGHT SOME TO COME TO THE FACT THAT MY CAR DOESN'T TAKE POWER STEERING FLUID ITS ELECTRICAL. I STILL HAD AND HOUR TO GO BEFORE I MADE IT TO MY ONE OF MY DESTINATION, IT WAS A HARD DRIVE BECAUSE THEN THE STEERING WHEEL BASICALLY LOCKED UP.

THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE ENGINE WAS OFF WHEN IT WAS STILL ON, CAUSING CARBON MOXIDE TO FILL THE GARAGE. THE CONTACT AND PASSENGER BECAME ILL DUE TO THE CARBON MONOXIDE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH AN ALARM THAT ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE WAS ON NOR DID IT HAVE A TIMER THAT WILL SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AUTOMATICALLY IF LEFT ON. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,900.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 LINCOLN MKS. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT OBSERVED AN ABNORMAL NOISE FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WHILE TURNING. THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STREP BEARINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

MY FATHER PULLED AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN ON A CITY STREET, CROSSED TRAFFIC AND HIT THE BACK BUMPER OF A PICKUP TRUCK AFTER WHICH HIS FOOT SLIPPED ON TO THE ACCELERATOR AND DROVE HIS CAR DIRECTLY INTO A UTILITY POLE. THE IMPACT WITH THE POLE WAS HARD ENOUGH TO SHEER OFF POLE AND THE FRONT OF HIS CAR WAS DAMAGED SIGNIFICANTLY FROM THE BUMPER TO THE FRAME PUTTING A V-SHAPED INDENTATION AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. HE WAS GOING FAST ENOUGH TO SHEER OFF THE WOODEN UTILITY POLE AND THE WIRES WERE HANGING DOWN OVER THE CAR.

THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND FLAMES WERE EMERGING FROM THE ENGINE. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. WHENEVER I DRIVE 55 MILES PER HOUR OR HIGHER DEPENDING ON WHERE I AM AND I ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE OR I HAVE TO COME TO AN ABRUPT SLOW DOWN, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SLOW DOWN PROPERLY AND IT MAKES A REVVING NOISE UNTIL THE VEHICLE SPEED GETS TO APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE LINCOLN SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEVEN (7) TIMES, SIX (6) TIMES FOR BRAKES, THEY HAVE DUPLICATED THE ISSUE SIX (6) TIMES, THEY SHAVED THE FRONT ROTORS THREE (3) TIMES AND REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS ONCE. THE LINCOLN DEALER HAS STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN OVER 60 MILES PER HOUR. I ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT HE DUPLICATED THE ISSUE AT HIGH SPEEDS AND THE ISSUE COULD BE THE TYPE OF BRAKES THE VEHICLE HAS ON IT. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE AND I FEARED FOR MY LIFE EACH TIME I GOT BEHIND THE WHEEL.

THERE WERE NO WARNING SOUNDS OR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED THAT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING. MY PARENTS DIED FROM KEYLESS IGNITION DEATH 6/15/2015. THEY BOUGHT THIS CAR AND WERE NOT TOLD THAT IT HAD NO SAFETY FEATURES LIKE LOUD AUDIBLE OR ENGINE SHUT OFF ONCE THEY WALKED AWAY WITH THE KEY-FOB. MAKE NEW REGULATIONS !!!!!!!!!!!

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, THE CONTACT'S PARENTS LEFT THE VEHICLE UNATTENDED AND ENTERED THEIR HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH KEYLESS ENTRY THAT DID NOT CHIME TO ALERT THE DRIVER THAT THE ENGINE REMAINED ACTIVE. AS A RESULT, CARBON MONOXIDE FILLED THE GARAGE AND THE HOME, CAUSING FATAL INJURIES TO THE CONTACT'S PARENTS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. WHILE DRIVING (ENTERING) A MAIN STREET FROM A SERVICE STATION IN MILES CITY,MT. IN A HEAVY DOWNPOUR, AS I PASSED THROUGH THE CURB/STREET DRAINAGE AREA, I HEARD A SLIGHT BUT LOUD THUMP LIKE A BIRD STRIKE BUT IT WAS RAINING TO HARD FOR THAT. A BLOCK AWAY FROM THE INITIAL TURN I ENTERED I-94 EAST WHEN MY WIFE SAID THAT WE HAVE A PROBLEM AS A WINDSHIELD CRACK APPEARED FROM UNDER THE WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, AS WE DROVE FURTHER DOWN THE FREEWAY THE CRACK CONTINUED TO RUN TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD, THE CRACK WAS SO BAD THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WOULD JUMP EVERY TIME IT PASSED OVER THE CRACK. THIS WAS ON A SUNDAY & NO DEALERS IN THE AREA WERE OPEN, ON MONDAY MORNING I CALLED LINCOLN FROM OUTSIDE OF JAMESTOWN, ND ABOUT THE PROBLEM & THEY DIRECTED ME TO A DEALER IN FARGO,ND TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE WINDSHIELD & SEND DIRECTLY TO LINCOLN WHICH THEY DID. AS WE WHERE ABOUT 30 MILES EAST OF FARGO, LINCOLN CALLED US NOT TO DRIVE ANY FARTHER AND THAT LINCOLN WOULD REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD AT THEIR COST WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I CALLED A DEALER THAT LINCOLN SUGGESTED & THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE 2 DAYS TO GET A WINDSHIELD FROM ST. PAUL. PAUL FOR A WINDOW CHANGE ON 8SEPT.14 AT WHITE BEAR LINCOLN IN ST. PAUL. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ON INVOICE [XXX], CUSTOMER # [XXX], WHILE THIS WAS IN PROGRESS I ASKED THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER IF HE HAD EVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE & HE STATED NO, NOT ON THIS NEW OF A LINCOLN. I HAVE NEVER HEARD BACK FROM LINCOLN AS TOO WHY THIS CRACK APPEARED, BUT I DO BELIEVE THEY KNOW WHY??. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY WINDSHIELD PROBLEMS SINCE IT WAS REPLACED. MARCH 30 THE SEAT FOLDED AS WE WERE DRIVING 70 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE ON INTERSTATE 295 OUTSIDE RICHMOND, VA. MARCH 31, THIRD INCIDENT OCCURRED AS LEAVING THE DRIVEWAY AND ON THE STREET. I WENT TO CAL WORTHINGTON IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR TO HAVE THE RECALL 13S04 FUEL DELIVERY MODULE REPLACED. NOW LESS THAN A WEEK WITH THE NEW MODULE, THE MODULE IS LEAKING AND THE GAS FUMES ARE OVERWHELMING INSIDE MY GARAGE. I PARKED MY CAR OUTSIDE LAST NIGHT TO BE SURE IT WAS THE CAR. I PULLED IT BACK IN THIS MORNING AND RIGHT AWAY THE GARAGE WAS OVERWHELMED WITH GAS FUMES. THE DEALERSHIP IS A 3 HOUR DRIVE ONE WAY FOR ME. I AM TIRED OF MECHANICS LEAVING THINGS UNCOMPLETED. THEY DIDN'T HOOK MY HEATED SEATS BACK IN AFTER WORKING ON IT. WIRES WERE HANGING OUT OF THE BOTTOM AND MY MOTOR PROTECTOR SHIELD WAS NOT SCREWED IN. WHILE DRIVING THE 2013 MKS AT 70 MPH ON A 3 LANE HIGHWAY THE POWER CUT OUT AND THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO GUIDE THE CAR FROM FAR LEFT LANE ACROSS 2 ADDITIONAL LANES TO SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WITH NO POWER, WE COASTED. LUCKILY THERE WAS LIGHT TRAFFIC AT THE TIME. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART AND A TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED. WHEN OUR SON PICKED US UP ROADSIDE HE CONVEYED THAT THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM HAPPENED TO HIM IN THE CAR. THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY A MONTH EARLIER. WHILE DRIVING SAID VEHICLE INTO THE SUN, THE INSTALLED FACTORY CHROME DECORATIVE TRIM SHINES BACK INTO THE DRIVERS EYES MAKING IT VERY HARD TO READ THE CAR INSTRUMENTS, THE TRIM AREA SHINES LIKE DIAMONDS INTO THE DRIVERS EYES EVEN WITH SUNGLASSES ON IN THE ARIZONA SUN, THIS ALSO VERY DISTRACTING. EUROPEAN CARS ARE NOT BUILT WITH THIS DISTRACTION. THE DRIVERS SEAT ( CENTER ) DOES NOT ALIGN WITH THE STEERING WHEEL, IT IS OFFSET TO THE RIGHT OF CENTER OF THE WHEEL BY 1/2 TO 3/4 OF AN INCH, THE SEAT ALSO RUBS VERY HARD AGAINST THE CENTER COUNSEL, SO HARD THAT THE SEAT SQUEAKS AS IT RUBS ONTO THE COUNSEL. I READ IN THE PAPER THAT YOU ARE INVESTIGATING FORD F150 TRUCKS WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE FOR SUDDEN STALLING PROBLEMS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY 2013 LINCOLN MKS WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE. PREVIOUSLY I OWNED A 2010 LINCOLN MKS WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE THAT ALSO OCCASIONALLY EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

CAR WILL START UP AGAIN AFTER PRESSING GAS PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS AS CAR DIES IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC .I WAS TOLD AT FORD DEALER THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHILE OPERATING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THIS FORCED THE OPERATOR TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY WHILE NAVIGATING THROUGH TRAFFIC. THE POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION/REDUCED POWER (RTT) WRENCH SYMBOL ILLUMINATED IN ADDITION TO THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT. BEFORE THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED THE OPERATOR ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE UNDER ITS OWN POWER EVERY 15 MINUTES. WITHIN APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES THE VEHICLE RESPONDED TO THE ACCELERATOR AND WAS DRIVEN TO THE OPERATOR'S RESIDENCE. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY LOST ELECTRICAL POWER FORCING A FAIL SAFE MODE THAT DISCONNECTED THE ACCELERATOR CONTROL. *TR *JS
