TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. THE FRONT STRUTS BROKE AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE FELL DOWN, ALMOST TOUCHING THE GROUND. THERE WAS BARELY ANY SUSPENSION WHEN THE CONTACT DROVE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP; THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT STRUTS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTY'S ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 63,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. UPDATED 10/28/10 *BF THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY FORD, IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THEY INCREASED THEIR WAREHOUSE SUPPLY IN ARIZONA T MEET THE DEMAND. SPARK PLUGS EJECTED FROM CYLINDER HEAD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS IN HER VEHICLE WOULD NOT RETRACT PROPERLY. THE FAILURE WAS MORE NOTICEABLE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT BECAUSE IT WAS USED MORE FREQUENTLY; HOWEVER, THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONED OCCASIONALLY. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE REAR SEAT BELTS MALFUNCTIONED BECAUSE THEY WERE HARDLY USED. SHE DISCOVERED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, WHICH STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD CORRECT THE ISSUE IN FUTURE MODELS. IN THE INTERIM, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE THE CONTACT $160 TO PLACE TEFLON TAPE IN THE RETRACTOR. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED OF THE TSB AND TEFLON REMEDY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT ASSIST. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,066 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000. UPDATED 5/7/09 *CN UPDATED 05/08/09.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, IT BEGAN TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. ONE MONTH LATER, THE SUSPENSION FAILED. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE TRAC INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. SHE PULLED OVER AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR FREE. AFTERWARDS, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED AND THE CONTACT REPLACED THEM WITH TWO BULB MECHANISMS. THE LOW BEAMS CONTINUED TO FAIL AND THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WIRING WAS NOT FAULTY, BUT THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE BALLETS IN THE LOW BEAMS WERE BLOWN OUT. THE PARTS WERE ORDERED AND REPLACED BY A MECHANIC. THE BULBS BLEW OUT AGAIN WITHIN A MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT TO REPAIR IT AGAIN. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, THE CONTACT FOUND COMPLAINTS FOR FAILED BALLETS ON HIS MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
REAR TAILGATE PAINT IS BUBBLING. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS COMMON FLAW ON FORD/LINCOLN VEHICLES FROM 2000-2005. *TR
PROBLEM WITH THE AIR SUSPENSION ON VEHICLE. HAD IT REPLACE WITH LESS THAN 50 THOUSAND MILES ON VEHICLE, ADDED 12 THOUSAND MILES IN LESS THAN A YEAR AND THE AIR SUSPENSION IS OUT AGAIN. *TR
NOTICED THE AIR COMPRESSOR RAN ALL OF THE TIME FOR THE AIR RIDE SYSTEM. THE CAR WAS STILL IN WARRANTY TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY SAID THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. 800 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY THE RIDE SIDE AIR SHOCK WENT BAD AND BURNED OUT THE COMPRESSOR. LOOKED UP OLD PAPER WORK AND COME TO FIND OUT THAT THEY HAS PUT ON A NOISE REDUCTION KIT ON THE COMPRESSOR. SO WE COULD NO LONGER HEAR IT RUN. CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS CUSTOMER SERVICE AT LINCOLN. THEY TOLD US SORRY ABOUT YOUR LUCK IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE BAGS ON THE AIR RIDE SYSTEM WERE DRY ROTTED (THE TRUCK HAS 50,800 MILES. HE SAID THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD AND LINCOLN. THEY REPLACE AT LEAST 8 SETS A WEEK. I HAD THE RIGHT SIDE FIXED, NEW COMPRESSOR. NOW 7 MONTHS LATER THE LEFT SIDE AS DONE THE SAME THING (55,000 MILES). *TR
FIRST WEEK IN DECEMBER TOOK 2004 NAVIGATOR WITH 29,000 MILES TO DEALERSHIP AFTER HEARING A VERY CLUNKING SOUND. I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A CATALYTIC CONVERTER. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT WOULD TAKE 2 WEEKS FOR PART. I CALLED LINCOLN TO STATE MY COMPLAIN AS TO WHY IT WAS GOING TAKE SO LONG AND WAS TOLD THE WAREHOUSE THAT STORED THEM BURNT DOWN. TOO MAKE A VERY TRYING STORY SHORT IT WILL BE 2 MONTHS UNTIL I GET MY NAVIGATOR REPAIRED. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE TOLD BY LINCOLN THAT THE PART HAS TO BE MADE AND THEN TESTED BEFORE THEY SHIP IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. I CAN NOW UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE ARE BUYING THE IMPORTS AND WHY AMERICAN CAR MAKERS ARE HURTING. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER LINCOLN AGAIN. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR TWO MONTHS FOR A CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT, HOWEVER THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 12/18/06. *JB
IN NOV 05 THE CAR STARTED TO SHUT OFF MOMENTARILY AS YOU STARTED TO DRIVE, IT WOULD DO IT ONLY WHEN YOU WOULD TAKE OFF FROM A STOP AND NEVER AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THIS WOULD OCCUR 50% OF THE TIME. THE DEALER HAD IT ON 11-7 AND REPLACED THE CAM POSITION SENSOR. WHEN I PICKED IT UP ON 11-8 IT WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE. I RETURNED IT ON 11-9 THEY RETURNED IT ON 11-19 AFTER REPLACING ONE OF THE COILS. THIS HELPED BUT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, STILL HAD THE HESITATION LEAVING A STOP BUT ONLY HAPPENED 2-3 TIMES IN THE 1ST WEEK. IN THE 2ND WEEK AS I SLOWED DOWN FOR A STOP IT SHUT COMPLETELY OFF, WHEN I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL , TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON IT STARTED. IT CONTINUED TO HESITATE AT TIME WHEN YOU WERE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC BUT WOULD NOT SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. THIS PAST WEEK THE HESITATIONS BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND ON TUGS 5-16 IT SHUT DOWN TOTALLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AS I TURNED A CORNER. I DELIVERED THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER IN THE AFTERNOON, HE CALL AND SAID NOTHING COULD BE FOUND AND COULD ONE OF THE TECHS DRIVE IT HOME FOR A TEST DRIVE, I AGREED. HE CALLED AND REPORTED THE CAR RUNS PERFECT AND THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING IF THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE CAR NOW SHUTS OFF MOMENTARILY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND IS VERY VIOLENT. THE CAR ONCE ACTED LIKE IT WAS RUNNING ON 4 CYLINDERS AND SLOWED DOWN TO 30 MPH, AFTER PULLING OVER ON THE FREEWAY SHUTTING THE KEY OFF IT WORK K AGAIN. DEALER STILL CAN'T DETECT WHAT IS WRONG IN SEPTEMBER 2006. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS IN RAINY WEATHER, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ALLOWED RAINWATER TO LEAK THROUGH THE LEFT FRONT WINDSHIELD SEAL AND INTO THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO AWAIT FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, THE SPEED DECREASED TO 50MPH FOLLOWED BY THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS SEEN BY A DEALER. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THE VACUUM MODULE ON THE ENGINE FAILED. THE ENGINE VACUUM MODULE WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER.
PROBLEM WITH AIR SUSPENSION ON VEHICLE. PLACED IN SHOP OVER 7 OR MORE TIMES PROBLEM STILL NOT RESOLVED. DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED PARTS BUT STILL SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE CONSUMER WENT TO START THE VEHICLE BUT THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED AND ABOUT TEN MINUTES LATER WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL PARKED, THE CONSUMER SMELLED SMOKE IN THE AREA OF THE SEAT BELT PANEL. WITHIN SECONDS OF SMELLING SMOKE THE CONSUMER NOTICED A THICK STACK OF WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE CAUSE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THIS TIME. *AK THE DAY BEFORE THE FIRE THE CONSUMER SMELLED SMOKE BUT SAW NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF SMOKE OR FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT A MODULE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT AREA HAD BURNED AND DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THE VEHICLE MUST HAVE SHORT CIRCUITED THUS KILLING THE BATTERY SUPPLY. *JB *NM
2004 FORD NAVIGATOR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED IN THE CARPORT.*MR PRIOR TO THE FIRE THE CONSUMER READ AND ARTICLE ABOUT FIRE OCCURRING IN LINCOLN NAVIGATOR DUE TO FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER HE HAD NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. TWO WEEK LATER THE CONSUMER'S HOME AND VEHICLE WERE DESTROY BY A FIRE WHICH STARTED IN THE VEHICLE. *NM
THE CONSUMER NOTICED A WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVELINE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED. IT SEEMED TO BE MOST PRONOUNCED AT 60 MPH. THE CONSUMER THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE UNIVERSAL JOINT AND HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TASCA LINCOLN DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK, BUT THEY DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHEN THE REPLACEMENT PART HAD COME IN, IT WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE. *AK *SC *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE HIGH INTENSITY HEADLAMP DOES NOT ALWAYS ILLUMINATE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. INITIALLY, THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY, BUT NOW OCCURS MORE REGULARLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT, INSTALLED A NEW LIGHT SWITCH AND BATTERY, AND CHECKED THE WIRING; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. LINCOLN SENT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,600 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500. UPDATED 4/11/08 *CN
THERE IS A DISTINCT SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN DECELERATING FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE SHIMMY PROGRESS' AS TIME GOES ON. THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN RESURFACED TWICE AND CHANGED ONCE. *JB
2004 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR WAS PURCHASED AUGUST 30TH 2004, ON ITS FIRST DRIVE HUSTON FROM DALLAS, THE ROTORS HEATED AND WARPED RESULTING IN SERIOUS SHIMMING ISSUES, THIS WAS FIXED BY MACHINING THE ROTORS. SECOND TRIP TO VERMONT DURING CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS FROM DALLAS, ROOTORS WARPPED AGAIN AND THE NAVIGATOR WAS SHIMMING SERIOUSLY, GETTING ME AND MY FAMILY NERVOUS THROUGHOUT THE 3300 MILE ROUND TRIP TO EAST COAST, DRIVING ON ICY ROADS AND THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS. DEALERSHIP SIMPLY MACHINED THE ROTORS AGAIN, THEY ADMIT THAT OTHER 2004 MODELS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE ROTORS. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS BAD ROTOR BATCH THAT NEEDS TO FIXED BEFORE FAMILY ARE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. *AK
CAR INVOLVED IN HIGH SPEED CRASH WITH STATIONARY OBJECT PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYED DRIVERS AIR BAG DID NOT 2004 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR REPAIRS EXCEED 24000.00 INCLUDING FRAME WAS A DIRECT HIT DEAD CENTER OF VEHICLE BOTH AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND PULLED OVER. CONSUMER NOTICED THAT FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
2004 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. DRIVER SEAT ELECTRIC MOTOR POSITIONING FAILURE. FAILED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE IN MAY, 2004. SEAT MOTOR REPAIRED/REPLACED BY DEALER. SEAT POSITION STUCK ON ONE SIDE AND MOVES ON OTHER. RESULTS IN TORQUING OF FRAME WHERE IT IS BOLTED/SECURED TO FLOOR/FRAME OF VEHICLE WHEN SEAT IS ACTIVATED. SEAT AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATES WITH INSERTION OF KEY. BODY POSITION WHEN SEATED IS NOT SQUARE WITH DRIVING DIRECTION.*AK
SHIFTER ASSEMBLY BREAKS AND MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN THEFT. POWER LIFTGATE WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY WHICH COULD CAUSE IT TO CLOSE ON TOP IF YOU. DRIVERS SIDE POWER RUNNING BOARDS ARE FAULTY AND BECOME A TRIP HAZARD. *TR
CONSUMER DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF 2004 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH OR HIGHER THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE WHILE THE WINDOWS WERE DOWN. *BF THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE CONDITION WAS NORMAL. *NM
WHILE DRIVING, I NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD VIBRATE AND MAKE A CLICKING NOISE WHENEVER I DROVE OVER A BUMP OR WHILE TURNING. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A LUBRICATION PROBLEM. THEY LUBRICATED THE STEERING SHAFT. THE PROBLEM CAME BACK 2 DAYS LATER. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIGOROUSLY WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY SANDED THE ROTORS TO FIX THE SHAKING PROBLEM, BUT DID NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE VIBRATION WHEN TURNING OR GOING OVER BUMPS.*AK
UNABLE TO OPERATE SATELLITE RADIO AND REAR ENTERTAINMENT DVD SIMULTANEOUSLY. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW OF THE RADIO WHICH HAS ONLY ONE AUX INPUT FOR BOTH SYSTEMS. THIS MEANS THAT THE OCCUPANTS CANNOT LISTEN TO SATELLITE RADIO ON LONG TRIPS WHILE KIDS WATCH A DVD. DEALER DID NOT INFOM BUYER OF THIS PROBLEM AND FORD HAS NO SOLUTION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 45-50 MPH VEHICLE HYDROPLANED AND CRASHED DIRECTLY INTO A BRICK WALL. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END. HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES. TWICE THE TIRES CHECKED AND ONE ALIGNMENT. NOTHING HELPED. ALSO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WENT OUT. BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND HAS ONLY 6,000 MILES.. ALSO THE FRONT BUMPER HAS WATER STREAKS ON IT THAT DEALER SAYS IS MANUFACTURE PROBLEM DUE TO NO CLEAR COAT ON IT. *JB
THE RUNNING BOARD INTERMITTENTLY FAILED TO COME OUT PROPERLY WHEN EITHER DOOR WAS USED. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT HAD DIFFICULTY WITH THE POWER SEATS MEMORY SETTING/POWER-FOLDING HEATED EXTERIOR MIRRORS, AND THE POWER-DEPLOYABLE RUNNING BOARDS. THEY WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE POWER SEATS WITH MEMORY SETTING HAD A MEMORY FUNCTION THAT SHOULD REMAIN SET AT THE DRIVER'S PREFERENCE. HOWEVER, IT SOMETIMES READJUSTED WITHOUT WARNING. THE POWER-FOLDING HEATED EXTERIOR MIRRORS WILL NOT IDENTIFY PROGRAMMED POSITIONS. THE POWER-DEPLOYABLE RUNNING BOARDS WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY DEPLOY WHEN THE DOORS WERE OPENED. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS. AFTERWARDS, THE AFOREMENTIONED CONTINUED TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. NO FURTHER REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. *AK

THE SUN ROOF LEAKS, TAIL GATE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY, AND RUNNING BOARD DON'T WORK PROPERLY AS WELL AND THE MY LOCAL FOR CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM:( *TR
THE 2004 LINCOLN NAVIGTOR THAT WE PURCHASED HAS SUFFERED NUMEROUS BATTERY FAILURES LEADING TO VARIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. AT FIRST, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AT ALL. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR AND OVER A WEEK WITH THE DEALER, AN IMPROPERLY DEALER INSTALLED DVD PLAYER WAS THE CAUSE. HOWEVER, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT PROBLEM WAS "FIXED" THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM FAILED. SPECIFICALLY, THE SCREEN WOULD "GREY" OUT NOT ALLOWING ANY INPUT INTO THE SYSTEM. AFTER 10-13 MINUTES, THE OPTIONS WOULD APPEAR FOR A FEW SECTIONS AND THEN "GREY" OUT AGAIN. *AK
COMPUTER AND ELECTRICAL WITH AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE. A LOUD BANGING NOISE WAS ALSO HEARD COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. THE DRIVER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC PLACED THE VEHICLE ON A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *NM
