TAKATA RECALL WHY DOES MAZDA SEND TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL/WARNING LETTERS AND THEN NOT MAKE GREATER EFFORTS TO OBTAIN AND SHIP PARTS?!?!?!?! IN RESPONSE TO A MAZDA AIRBAG RECALL NOTICE, ON 4/25/17 I MADE AN APPT. W/ MAZDA IN SANTA BARBARA, CA. WITH MY VIN HE ORDERED THE PARTS AND SCHEDULED A 5/15/17 APPT. NEVER HEARD BACK IF PARTS ARRIVED. EARLY AUG. 2017 CALLED NHTSA TO REPORT PROBLEM. IN MID AUG. 2017, I GOT AN UNSOLICITED EMAIL OF A SERVICE APPT. AT MY LOCAL (SEASIDE, CA) DEALER FOR 8/28/17. ASSUMING THIS WAS IN RESPONSE TO THE NHTSA REPORT, I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER. THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW THE APPT. WAS MADE, BUT IN ANY EVENT THEY SAID THAT THERE ARE NO OPEN RECALLS FOR MY VIN (THEN WHY DID I GET THE LETTER FROM MAZDA????), THAT MINE WAS ONLY A "PRELIMINARY RECALL NOTICE (???), THAT I'LL GET ANOTHER LETTER FROM MAZDA, AND UNTIL I DO, THEY CANNOT ORDER THE PARTS! HOW AND WHEN WILL MY AIRBAG RECALL ISSUE BE RESOLVED? THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM, ACCORDING TO THIS NHTSA WEBSITE!

TAKATA RECALL- THE DASHBOARD WHERE THE AIR BAG IS LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR IS CRACKING OPEN.
I BOUGHT MY MAZDA 6 SECOND HAND, AND I NOTICED THAT WHEN THE SUN GETS HOT THE DASHBOARD STARTS LITERALLY MELTING. THE SMELL WHEN IS HOT IS LIKE SOME KIND OF CHEMICAL. ALSO THE SHINY SURFACE INTERFERE WITH THE DRIVERS VIEW.
THIS TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL IS TAKING TO LONG. THERE IS NO REMEDY....NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL. AND THE FACT I CAN'T HAVE A PASSENGER IN MY FRONT SEAT PUTS A BURDEN ON ME. IF I OWED MAZDA CORP. MONEY FOR MY CAR....IT WOULD BE REPOSSESSED REAL QUICK...WHY CAN'T A REMEDY FOR THE AIRBAGS BE AS QUICK. HOW MANY MORE DEATHS HAVE TO HAPPEN?!?
TAKATA RECALL - THE AIRBAG INFLATOR IN MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED ON 1/9/17. OVER 6 MONTHS LATER, THE PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE FOR MY VEHICLE. MY FAMILY CANNOT UTILIZE OUR FAMILY VEHICLE AS DESIGNED DUE TO THE LACK OF TIMELY AVAILABILITY OF THE PART BY TAKATA OR A SOLUTION BY MAZDA.
CAN SMELL STRONG GAS FUMES, AFTER FILLING GAS TANK. ALSO, GAS TANK LEAKING, AFTER PUTTING GAS IN TANK, AT HALF FILL OR FULL TANK, GET GAS SMELLS AND LEAKING. WHILE STATIONARY AND MOVING, CAN SMELL GAS FUMES. HEADLIGHTS DO NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE VISIBILITY AT NIGHT AND DURING RAINY WEATHER. HEADLIGHTS ADEQUATE ONLY IN HIGH BEAM MODE.
THE SUNROOF EXPLODED SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING TODAY.
TAKATA RECALL WE LIVE IN SIMPSONVILLE SC WHICH HAS VERY HIGH HUMIDITY AND HIGH TEMPERATURES. WE HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED TWO RECALL NOTICES FROM MAZDA CONCERNING THE AIRBAG RECALL. WE BELIEVE THAT GETTING THE REPLACEMENT PARTS IS TAKING TOO LONG AND THAT WE SHOULD HAVE ALREADY HAD THE PARTS REPLACED. MAZDA IS CONTINUING TO BUILD NEW VEHICLES USING PARTS THAT ARE NOT FAULTY WHILE WE CONTINUE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT COULD CAUSE DEATH IF WE ARE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS WOULD DEPLOY. WE WOULD LIKE NHTSA TO REQUIRE MAZDA TO DIVERT A LARGER PORTION OF THE NEW AIRBAG PARTS FROM NEW VEHICLE PRODUCTION TO THE REPLACEMENT OF INFLATORS FOR EXISTING CUSTOMERS.
I HAVE REPLACED MY HEADLIGHTS SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW MONTHS.I AM NO CAR EXPERT BUT I KNOW THIS IS NOT NORMAL NOR SAFE.IN ADDITION THEY NOW SHINE VERY DIME.AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS I SEE IT'S NOT JUST ME BUT I AM STILL TAKING IT IN.TONIGHT ALONE ONE OF THEM JUST WENT OUT ON ONE OF THE DARKEST ROADS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. SEEMS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHTS.. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS 3 TIMES THEY ARE BURNING OUT REPEATEDLY...I DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS MORE OFTEN THAN THE LOW BEAMS... I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER 4 TIMES FOR ONE OF THE LOW BEAMS BEING OUT...THIS IS A BIT UNFAIR..... I HAVEN'T EVER IN MY LIFE PUT SO MANY BULBS INTO ONE CAR!! APPARENTLY A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE WHY ISN'T SOMETHING BEING DONE?? OBVIOUSLY IT'S NOT SOMETHING WE CAUSED.
THE DASHBOARDS AND OTHER INTERIOR PANELS IS DEFECTIVE IT HAS MELTED AND FEELS LIKE FOAM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT IS STICKY BEHIND THE STEERING COLUMN AND ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AS WELL. ANYTHING THAT TOUCHES THE DASHBOARD TURNS BLACK AND STICKY AND MAY BE RUINED. THE MELTED DASHBOARDS CAN CAST DANGEROUS GLARES ACROSS THE WINDSHIELDS, INHIBITING THEIR VISION AND POSING A SAFETY HAZARD TO OTHERS ON THE ROAD AS WELL AS A FEAR THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY ON THAT SIDE. .
WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THE GEAR INDICATOR ON THE DASH I WILL FLASH IN AND OUT. WHEN THE LIGHT GOES OUT THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND WHEN IT COMES BACK ON THE VEHICLE WILL REV UP CAUSING AN UNSAFE SPEED. THE ECM WAS REPLACED AND TWO MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. THE DEALER CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 MAZDA 6. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V114000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS CONTINUALLY FAIL TO WORK. I HAVE HAD THE BULBS REPLACED 3 X IN 3 YEARS AS THE OWNER AND ONCE AGAIN THE LOW BEAMS ARE OUT. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS POST IT IS CLEAR MAZDA HAS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS ADDRESSED. DRIVING WITH HIGH BEAMS ON IS DANGEROUS AND ANNOYING TO OTHER DRIVERS. I GUESS ITS TIME TO BUY SOMETHING OTHER THAN A MAZDA.
WIRING SYSTEM PROBLEM WITH FRONT HEADLIGHTS RESULTS IN LOSS OF LIGHTING, POTENTIAL COULD CAUSE FIRE.
PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON (HIGH BEAMS WORK FINE). I'VE CHANGE THE BULB BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS.
I NOTICED MY PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM WAS OUT ON MY 2012 MAZDA6. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE FOR HOW TO CHANGE THE BULB, I FOUND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAD FIXED THE ISSUE BY LIGHTLY HITTING THE SIDE OF THE HEADLIGHT COVER. I TRIED IT AND IT FIXED IT! SINCE IT HAS GONE OUT AGAIN (JUST A WEEK LATER) AND CAME BACK ON WHEN I WENT OVER A BUMPY AREA IN THE ROAD. I LIVE IN AN AREA WITH A LIGHT ORDINANCE AND THE ROADS ARE PITCH BLACK ENOUGH TO SEE EVERY STAR IN THE SKY AT NIGHT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.

I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH A LOT OF MAZDA MAKES AND MODELS AND THE FIX IS NEITHER CHEAP NOR TIME FRIENDLY. I WILL CALL A MAZDA DEALER TOMORROW TO FIND OUT THEIR RECOMMENDATION BUT I AM SURE ITS GOING TO COST ME A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX OR EVEN LOOK AT. I OWN A 2012 MAZDA 6 WHICH NOW HAS APPROX. 72,000 MILES. THE FRONT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN A RAINSTORM AT NIGHT. LUCKILY MY HIGH BEAMS STAYED FUNCTIONAL. AFTER PULLING OVER TO CHECK OUT THE ISSUE I HIT THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT ASSY (OUT OF FRUSTRATION) AND THE LOW BEAM LIGHT CAME ON. I DID THE SAME TO THE OTHER SIDE AND THAT LIGHT CAME ON TOO. AS SOON AS I STARTED LOOKING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS. I SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH MAZDA HEADLIGHTS. THIS PRESENTS A EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT TIME AND A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER MAY HAVE PANICKED WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. I'M EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER ALSO DRIVES THIS CAR BUT I DON'T FEEL SAFE WITH THEM DRIVING AT NIGHT NOW. NOT TO MENTION, THIS CAR IS DUE FOR IT'S YEARLY INSPECTION AND IT WON'T PASS BECAUSE THE LOW BEAMS ARE OUT. I DOUBT THE MECHANIC WILL LET ME HIT THE LIGHTS TO MAKE THEM COME ON FOR THE INSPECTION. ESPECIALLY TO HAVE THEM GO OUT AGAIN AS SOON AS I HIT A BUMP OR TURN THE LIGHTS OFF. AS OF 10-26-15, BOTH OF MY LOW BEAMS ARE OUT AND NOW ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE WILL COME ON WITH A BUMP TO THE LIGHT. THE MAIN FRONT LIGHT IS OFF, IT IS NOT DEAD BUT IT IS OFF. IF YOU HIT A BUMP, IT CUTS OFF. I WAS WONDERING WHAT WAS UP SO I WENT ON YOUTUBE. APPRENTLY THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MODEL AND HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THEY HAVE BEEN CONSTANTLY REPLACING BULBS ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE ISNT A PROBLEM WITH THE BULB ITSELF BUT THE VEHICLE IT SELF. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT FOR NO REASON. HAD TO PULL OVER AND BUMP THE HEADLIGHTS TO MAKE THEM WORK. CHECKED THE FUSE AND ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AT AUTOSHOP. THEY FOUND NOTHING, BUT SAID THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS IN MAZDA 6 CARS BEFORE AND THERE IS A FAULT IN THE DESIGN NOR IS THERE ANY SOLUTION TO THE ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT RANDOMLY WENT OUT. I TRIED CHANGING BULB, WIGGLING CABLES TO SEE IF THERE WAS A LOSE CONNECT AND HEADLIGHT WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NO KNOW ISSUES AND I WOULD HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO LOOK INTO THE WIRING BUT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT UNTIL MONDAY. I THEN STARTED SEARCHING THE INTERNET AND FOUND A VIDEO OF A 2009 MAZDA 6 WITH THE SAME ISSUE I WAS HAVING ONLY ON PASSENGER SIDE. THE GUY IN THE VIDEO LIGHTLY HIT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY ON THE TOP AND THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON. I WENT TO MY CAR AND DID THE SAME THING SINCE SO MANY OTHERS THAT SAW VIDEO POSTED THIS WORKED FOR THEIR MAZDA 6 CARS RANGING FROM YEARS 2009-2012 AND WHEN I LIGHTLY HIT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY THE LIGHT CAME ON. FRONT PASSENGER HEADLAMP INTERMITTENTLY GOES OUT. *TR
AT AROUND 50,000 MILES, I HAD A HEADLIGHT (LOW BEAM) GO OUT ON ME. I HAD IT REPLACED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AND HAD TO GET THAT REPLACED. THESE ARE HARD TO GET TO IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS SO EACH TIME I HAD TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE. AT 65,000 MILES, I HAD MY ENGINE AND BATTERY LIGHT COME ON. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND THEY WENT AWAY. I THEN TRIED LOCKING THE CAR, AND MY CAR WILL NOT LOCK FROM THE INSIDE OR WITH MY REMOTE. THE CAR WILL UNLOCK, BUT WILL NOT LOCK NO MATTER WHAT I DO. TESTED BATTERY AND ALL FUSES AND EVERYTHING IS GOOD THERE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER SEAL RING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

LOW BEAMS FAILED ON BOTH HEADLIGHTS WITH IN FIRST YEAR, ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE BULB SEVERAL TIMES, FINALLY REPLACED ENTIRE HEAD LAMP ASSEMBLIES, WITH IN FIRST 2 MONTHS LOW BEAMS HAVE FAILED AGAIN. ATTEMPTS TO REPLACE BULB ARE STILL NOT EFFECTIVE.
WE'VE HAD THIS CAR IN THREE TIME'S THEY HAVE CHANGED AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE. FOUND RESISTANCE AT CONNECTOR HIGH 25.4 OHMS CLEANED AND RESET. AND THE THIRD TIME WITCH WAS SAME DAY AFTER THEY RETURN CAR A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD AIR BAG LIGHT WAS BACK ON. THEY FAILED TO RIGHT IT UP THEY TOOK IT BACK INTO GARAGE AND SENT US HOME IN A LOANER CAR. AS OF 7/14/14 THE AIR BAG SYSTEM TURN IT SELF OFF AGAIN. I DO NOT KNOW IF I AM IN A ACCIDENT IF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WILL DEPLOY OR NOT. THE CARS COMPUTER KEEPS TURNING THE AIR BAG SYSTEM OFF. THIS SYSTEM HAS SHUT THE AIR BAGS OFF WHEN STARTING THE CAR AND NOW THE THIRD TIME WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. *TR

HEADLIGHTS KEEP FAILING. I CONTINUE TO CHANGE THE BULBS BUT TODAY FOUND THAT ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS THAT POWERS FRONT LIGHTS HAS MELTED AND LOST ALL OF ITS INSULATION. THERE ARE ONLY BARE WIRES RUNNING INTO CONNECTOR FOR HEADLIGHTS.
FRONT HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3X IN 1 YEAR.I HAVE PURCHASED UPGRADED BULBS WHICH HAVE NOW GONE OUT WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF THE CHANGE, THEY DID NOT SUPPLY ANY ADDITIONAL LIGHT AND HAVE NOT LASTED ANY LONGER BEFORE BURNING OUT THAN THE CHEAPER LIGHTS. HEADLIGHT CAUSING DIFFICULTY WITH NIGHT DRIVING. LIGHTS APPEAR TO BE FACING DOWNWARD AND BEAM IS VERY LOW CAUSING POOR VISABILITY, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO RUN OFF THE ROAD, MOSTLY HAVING TO USE HIGH BEAMS DURING NIGHT DRIVING AND CONSTANTLY HAVING TO TURN OFF WHEN A DRIVER IS COMING TOWARDS TO ME TO AVOID BLINDING THEM WITH HIGH BEAMS. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO MAZDA WITH NOTHING MORE BE SAID THAN THANKS FOR REPORTING THIS . I ALSO HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING A RENTAL OF THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. I HAD THE RENTAL FOR 2-3 MONTHS AND THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS ALSO WENT OUT AND THE HEADLIGHTS WERE VERY DIM. *TR
OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS I NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD OF MY 2012 MAZDA 6 WAS BECOMING STICKY AND LOOKED AS IF IT WERE MELTING. IT ALSO BEGAN TO EMIT A SMELL AND CRACKS BEGAN TO DEVELOP WHILE BECOMING MORE REFLECTIVE THAN THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHICH REMAINS NORMAL. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN GOOD CONDITION FROM A DEALERSHIP. AFTER NOTIFYING THE NEAREST MAZDA DEALERSHIP THEY STATED NO RECALLS HAD BEEN MADE AND MY BEST HOPES FOR A SOLUTION WAS TO HAVE THEM INSPECT AND PHOTOGRAPH THE CAR'S DASHBOARD AND HOPE THAT MAZDA MAY GIVE ME SOME CREDIT TOWARD REPLACING THE IT. THOUGH I WILL TAKE MY MAZDA 6 TO A DEALERSHIP FOR EVALUATION, I WAS UNSATISFIED WITH THIS RESPONSE AND LEARNED THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT DESCRIBING EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM MY MAZDA 6 IS EXPERIENCING WITH THE DASHBOARD. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE?

IF I COULD AFFORD A LAWSUIT I WOULD HAVE BY NOW. I DON'T WANT TO BE ONE OF THOSE DEAD SO THAT'S WHAT IT WAS. I WOULD GET RID OF THE CAR BUT I STILL OWE TO MUCH. CAR IS STATIONARY. THEY BLAME THE AIR CONDITIONER LAST. MY CAR HAS ONLY 7000 MILES ON IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 MAZDA MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT GIVE SUFFICIENT LIGHT; THEREFORE, THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS HAD TO BE USED IN ORDER TO SEE THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE LOW BEAM BULB COULD BE REPLACED WITH A BETTER BULB. THE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1500.
