ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON WHEN RPM REACHED 2,000 AND HAS STAYED ON EVER SINCE. DIAGNOSTICS MADE AT A PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS INDICATED A BALANCE SHAFT PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS 68,400 MILES.
TAKATA RECALL. DEALER SAYS THEY DO NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT PARTS. I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THEM TO GET REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR NEARLY A YEAR NOW.
TAKATA RECALL CURRENTLY WE HAVE NO INFORMATION REGARDING THE FIX. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN AUGUST OF 2016 AND WERE NOTIFIED BY PREVIOUS OWNERS ON JANUARY 2017.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. MERCEDES-BENZ OF SAN DIEGO IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL I AM WRITING TO FIND OUT WHEN THIS DEFECTIVE AIRBAG IN MY CAR WILL REPLACED. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR WITH THIS DEFECTIVE AIRBAG PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE AND I AM DEMANDING THAT IT BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. I FEEL SUFFICIENT TIME HAS ELAPSED FOR THE MANUFACTURERS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND MAKE MY CAR SAFE AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCEDES-BENZ C280. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HEARD A TICKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT WAS TEMPORARILY BLINDED AND BURNED BY THE DEPLOYMENT. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL AUTO DEALER TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
VERY STRONG FUEL ODOR INSIDE CABIN OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. ODOR IS VERY STRONG AROUND DRIVERS REAR WHEEL AND FROM THE OUTSIDE ONCE PARKED. ALSO NOTICED GASOLINE/FUEL ACCUMULATION UNDERNEATH VEHICLE AROUND DRIVER'S SIDE REAR, ON UNDER BODY PANELS. SMELL OF FUEL IS VERY STRONG AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING BUT SEEMS TO DISSIPATE WHEN DRIVING AT A FASTER SPEED I.E. ON HIGHWAY OVER 45MPH. ONCE I COME TO A STOP OR DRIVE BELOW 45MPH THE SMELL IS PRONOUNCED PROBABLY BECAUSE IT ISN'T BEING BLOWN AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. DOES NOT CHANGE IN CORRELATION TO FUEL TANK FILL LEVEL. INSPECTED FUEL SENDER UNDER ACCESS CAP, UNDERNEATH REAR PASSENGER BENCH DRIVER'S SIDE ON AUGUST 27TH 2016. FOUND FUEL PUDDLING IN/AROUND THE EXTERIOR OF FUEL SENDING UNIT. FUEL SENDING PART NUMBER A209-470-04-94 CLEANED OUT FUEL PUDDLE AND REINSPECTED ACCESS TO PANEL TO FUEL SENDER ON SEPTEMBER 3RD AND FOUND THE FUEL SENDER AREA HAS PUDDLED WITH GASOLINE AGAIN. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PERIODICALLY TURNS ON WITH CODE P0171 USUALLY A MONTH IN BETWEEN DATING BACK TO 2015. COINCIDING WITH THE FUEL SMELL. INSPECTED GAS CAP/FILLER TUBE FOR LEAKS AS PRECAUTION BUT FOUND NO LEAK. MOST OF THESE SYMPTOMS ARE ALSO SIMILAR TO CASE WITH THE 2003-2006 MERCEDES BENZ E55 AMG VEHICLES FOUND UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA13003 REGARDING EMISSIONS RECALL FOR AMG MODELS USING HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SYSTEMS.
TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL - I CONTACTED THE MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AND TOLD THEM I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE. THEY IMMEDIATELY FORWARDED MY CALL TO A HOTLINE FOR MERCEDES BENZ USA, AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT MERCEDES WILL NOT OFFER ME A RENTAL CAR TO DRIVE WHILE I WAIT FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS. THEY WENT AS FAR AS TO SEND ME A LETTER EXPLICITLY SAYING THAT THEY BELIEVE "THERE IS NO REASON FOR YOU TO STOP DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE." THERE IS NO ESTIMATED TIMELINE FOR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. THERE WOULDN'T BE A RECALL IF THERE WASN'T A SAFETY RISK AND MERCEDES BENZ ISN'T DOING ANYTHING TO EASE CUSTOMERS' FEARS OR ENSURE OUR SAFETY. I LIVE ABOUT A MILE FROM THE BEACH AND IT IS HUMID. NOT ONLY DO I NOT FEEL SAFE, THE RESALE VALUE OF MY CAR IS LIKELY IMPACTED IF I WANTED TO PURCHASE A NEW, SAFER VEHICLE. MERCEDES BENZ SHOULD BE MANDATED TO OFFER RENTAL CARS WHILE WE WAIT FOR OUR REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS. IT'S NOT "PRECAUTIONARY" TO ISSUE A RECALL AND THEN WAIT MONTHS (OR POTENTIALLY YEARS) TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS REAR ENDED AND HEADREST AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 MERCEDES-BENZ C230. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT COLLISION WITH A FIRETRUCK. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE THREE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FRONT DRIVER SUSTAINED LACERATIONS TO THE FACE DUE TO THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRAIN DAMAGE, AND THE REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED MODERATE BRUISING AND PAIN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V081000 (AIR BAGS) AFTER THE CRASH. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. MY FAN ON ,YCAR WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 70,000 MILES MY AIR WENT OUT...I DROVE APPROX 5 MILES TO THE STORE AND WAS ON MY WAY BACK HOME WHENI NOTICED MY AIR WAS NOT WORKING. A MESAGE CAME ON TO TAKE TO THE SHOP.
I HAVE A VERY LOUD ODOR OF GASOLINE COMING FROM NEAR MY BACK WHEEL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE CAR RIDES FINE AND I GET GOOD GAS MILEAGE BUT IT IS NOT LEAKING ANYWHERE. I TOOK MY BACKSEAT OUT AND THERE WAS NOTHING WET. I ALSO REPLACED THE GAS CAP AND IT DID NOT HELP
TAKATA RECALL-MERCEDES BENZ HAS FAILED TO REPLACE THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG IN MY CAR. RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED IN APRIL 2016-OVER A YEAR AGO. I LIVE IN CA, WHICH IS LISTED AS A PRIORITY PART OF THE COUNTRY FOR HAVING RECALL COMPLETED.

VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WITH A P0015 CODE WHICH INDICATES A CAMSHAFT PROBLEM. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOUND ONLINE REGARDING SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL FOR THIS VEHICLE. IT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL, NOT SHIFT GEARS AND OTHER ISSUES SUDDENLY.
ENGINE DIAGNOSIS WARNING LAMP LIGHT UP, FAULT CODES 1200 AND 1208 STORED IN MOTOR ELECTRONICS CONTROL UNIT. CAUSE: BALANCE SHAFT SPROCKET (ENGINE M272) WORN SPROCKET DAMAGE PROFILE. ENGINE CHECK LIGHTS CAME ON AND B-SERVICE LIGHT WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY.. ENGINE- M272.

I WAS TOLD TO FILE HERE IF THERE WAS NO REMEDY ON THE SAFETY RECALL AND THERE WASN'T. THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL IN FEBRUARY 2016 FOR MY TAKATA AIRBAG AND TO THIS DATE, THERE IS NO AVAILABLE REMEDY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I JUST CHECKED ONLINE AND STATUS IS SAME NO REMEDY -INCOMPLETE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

MY FIRST INCIDENCE WAS DRIVING AND THE STEERING WOULD ALL OF A SUDDEN GET STIFF LIKE IT NEEDED POWER STEERING FLUID OR SOMETHING. CHECK IT WASN'T THE FLUID (THIS HAPPENED A FEW MONTH AGO I THOUGHT HMMM PROBABLY JUST SOMETHING FREAKY) THEN 1/8/16 RIDING DOWN THE BUSY INTERSTATE HIGHWAY THE CAR ACCELERATION JUST LEFT. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR BUT NO SPEED. IT WAS EXTREMELY SCARY. I HAD THE CAR CHECKED OUT...IT'S THE CLASSIC PROBLEM I NEVER HEARD OF UNTIL TODAY. ( INTAKE MANIFOLD TUMBLE FLAP) SOME PLASTIC JUNK ON AN EXPENSIVE CAR. IF I WANTED A JUNK CAR I WOULD'VE WENT TO THE "JUNK YARD" PAID LIKE 250. AND BE DONE WITH IT. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY. I'M GLAD MY KIDS WASN'T IN THE CAR AND IT WASN'T A HORRIFIC OUTCOME. NOW I CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH THE CAR RIGHT NOW BECAUSE IT'S EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR FOR SUCH A CHEAP PIECE THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE NEVER BEEN ON IT AND BECAUSE #1 I'M ON A FIXED INCOME #2 I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. BUT WHAT DOES MB CARE ABOUT THAT....ITS JUST A PRODUCT TO THEM, A MONEY MAKER.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. I HAD IT LOOKED AT BY MY MECHANIC. HE CONFIRMED THAT IT IS THE BALANCE SHAFT. THIS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND MANY MERCEDES 230 MODELS HAVE THIS MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM BECAUSE THE PIECE WAS CHEAPLY MADE. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR MERCEDES C230 2006 AND 2007 MODELS. IN 2008 C230 MODEL THIS WAS REPLACED WITH A QUALITY BALANCE SHAFT PIECE WHICH ELIMINATED THE PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE FOR MERCEDES CORPORATION TO PAY FOR THE FULL COST OF MY REPAIR BECAUSE IT IS A MANUFACTURED FAULTY PIECE USED IN THE 2006 AND 2007C230 MODELS. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THERE IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE WITH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE PLASTIC ACTUATING RODS BROKE CAUSING THE INTERNAL FLAPPERS TO STICK OUT. THIS CAN SUCK INTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSE MAJOR DAMAGE TO VALVES AND ENGINE HEAD. MERCEDES BENZ SHOULD NOT HAVE USED PLASTIC RODS THAT BREAK. MERCEDES SHOULD REPLACE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AS NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER.
THE SRS LIGHT IS ON STEADY FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW. I GET A MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY "CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG" AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG "ON/OFF" SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION, WHICH I CANNOT CHANGE. WHEN I LOOK UP THE VIN I GET NO ANSWER FOR MY MAKE AND MODEL. I REALLY THINK MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED ON THIS RECALL.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND MY CAR JERKS. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM EVERYONE ELSE IS HAVING WITH THE 2006-2008 C280 MERCEDES BENZ.
I BOUGHT THE C230 AT ONE YEAR OLD. I HAD E PERIENCED TWO TIMES THATWHILE FREEWAY DRIVING ALL POWER WOULD BE LOST. PULLED OVER AND PUT IN PARK, REV ENGINE A BIT BUT RPM'S WOULD NOT MOVE. FAST FORWARD TO DECEMBER 2008 I SOLD CAR GO MY MOM BECAUSE I HAD A BABY AND CAR WAS TOO SMALL. MY MOM SINCE HAVING CAR HAS LOST POWER WHILE FREEWAY DRIVING A TOTAL OF SIX TIMES NOW. VERY DANGEROUS AS THERE IS NO "CODE" OR "ERROR" FOR MECHANIC WHEN DIAGNOSING, NOR IS BENZ ACKOWLEDING GHE ISSUE.
WHILE TRYING TO MERGE ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR RESPONSE SLOWLY WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED THE ENGINE OVER REV'S BUT NO POWER THE SAME HAPPENS WHEN CHANGING LANES. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY THE CAR LOCKED UP BOTH THE ENGINE AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT I HAD TO TURN IN ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES AND THE PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY REVERSE THIS INCIDENT PLACED MY LIFE IN DANGER BECAUSE WHEN THE CAR LOCKED UP HALF OF IT WAS ON THE DRIVEWAY AND THE OTHER HALF IN THE STREET IMPEDING TRAFFIC. I AM NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE IT DOESN'T RESPOND AS QUICKLY AS IT SHOULD WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FILLED PAST TO FULL, THERE IS AN OVERPOWERING FUEL SMELL IN VEHICLE CABIN. THE OFFENDING SMELL ALSO FILLS THE GARAGE AND THE GARAGE DOOR MUST BE PARTIALLY LEFT OPEN FOR SAFETY: FEAR OF EXPLOSION. *TR
TAMARA RECALL I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED IF MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN THE LATEST AIRBAG RECALLS. HOWEHER, THE SRS LIGHT REMAINS CONSTANT AND MY STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS DON'T WORK AS WELL AS WIPERS. AT THE TIME I HEARD A LOUD POP IN CAR IT WAS STATIONARY AT A GAS STATION.
MY CAR ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN JUNE OF 2014. I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR COMPANY. THEY EXPLAINED AT THAT TIME THAT I MAY BE DEALING WITH A BALANCE SHAFT ISSUE. AS THE MONTHS PROGRESS, MY ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE ENGINE LIGHT EVENTUALLY WOULD NOT GO OFF. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY CONFIRM THAT IT WAS A BALANCE SHAFT ISSUE AND THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURERS PROBLEM. I CALLED AND EMAILED MERCEDES BENZ FOR ASSISTANCE SINCE IT WAS NOT NEGLIGENT ON MY PART THAT THIS ISSUE OCCURRED. AFTER MAKING SEVERAL PHONES AND E-MAILING THE CEO, THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO GET IT CHECKED BY A MERCEDES BENZ DEALER TO CONFIRM THE ISSUE. I MADE THE APPOINTMENT WITH THE MERCEDES BENZ DEALER IN DECEMBER 2014 AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS A BALANCE SHAFT ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD COST AROUND $5,000 TO REPAIR. I CALLED MERCEDES BENZ BACK TO REQUEST ASSISTANCE AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT SINCE THE CAR HAD NO RECALLS AND THAT IT WAS NOT A NEW CAR, THEY WOULD PAY 10% OF THE REPAIR COST. I EXPLAINED THAT I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS SINCE IT IS A MANUFACTURERS PROBLEM. TO DATE , I AM WITHOUT A CAR TO DRIVE BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. ANY ASSISTANCE THAT YOU CAN GIVE IN THIS MATTER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. *TR

ALL OF THE WIRES GOING TO (AND INSIDE) THE HEADLAMPS HAVE INSULATION CRACKING AND FALLING OFF, EXPOSING BARE WIRES, WITH THE LIKELIHOOD OF CAUSING A SHORT. I NEED TO REMOVE THE HEADLAMPS TO HAVE THEN "RESTORED", BUT MAY NEED TO REPLACE HEADLAMPS BASED ON WIRE ISSUE(S), AT $800 PER LAMP. *TR
I WAS APPROACHING AN EXIT AND THE VEHICLE ENGINE WAS REVVING WITH RPM'S HIGH HOWEVER THERE WAS LITTLE POWER TO MOVE FORWARD. I PULLED THE CAR(COASTING) TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT UNABLE TO THINK WHAT ELSE TO DO. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF I HAD BEEN ON A CONGESTED HIGHWAY WITH NO ACCELERATION AND NOWHERE TO PULL OFF THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. THE ENGINE SHAKES UPON STARTING IT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. CAUSING ME TO BE UNAWARE OF A REAL PROBLEM. I CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP TAKING THIS CAR TO CHECK OUT WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING OFF AND ON TO BE INFORMED ITS ANNOYING BUT TO DEAL WITH IT.

I HAD NO INDICATION THIS WAS A PROBLEM OTHER THAN THE SERVICE LIGHT APPEARING OUT OF NO WHERE TWO MONTHS AFTER MY SERVICE VISIT WHICH WAS TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME I COULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON IF IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME , HOWEVER I'M AFRAID THE CAR WILL QUIT RUNNING. The contact stated that the front passenger and driver's side air bags were deployed with excessive force. The contact stated that the front driver's side and passenger side headrest restraint air bags were deployed. The contact stated that the driver in the vehicle in front was transported to the hospital by ambulance for a back injury. The contact stated that her son sought medical attention a month later for eye irritation. The front passenger sustained eye injuries that lead to blindness which eventually lead to his passing. The driver sustained burns on both arms and fingertips that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or independent mechanic for diagnosis or repairs.
