TAKATA RECALL I HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL NOTIFICATIONS REGARDING RECALL FOR MY MB 2008 C350 RE FAULTY AIRBAGS. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES WHERE I PURCHASED THE WITH NO HELP TO REPAIR. THEY OFFER NO HELP AT ALL. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING GIVEN WHAT MAY HAPPEN AND THUS DRIVE VERY LITTLE AND ONLY SHORT DISTANCES. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO GET THIS RESOLVED AND FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR? TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CALLED MERCEDES AND THE LOCAL MERCEDES DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WASN'T IN THE RECALL IT'S JUST A PRECAUTION. THIS VEHICLE IS AND IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS THE ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED.
TAKATA RECALL. THIS TAKATA RECALL MIGHT BE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO RESELL MY VEHICLE.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. STEERING COLUMN LOCKED UP AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT START.
TAKATA RECALL SINCE MAY 2016. MERCEDES DEALERS STATE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR CAR. I CALL EVERY TWO TO THREE MONTHS. THEY STATE THEIR HANDS ARE TIED.
FOR OVER ONE-AND-HALF YEARS I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO OPERATE MY AUTOMOBILE WITH ANYONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. MY MOTHER IS AGED AND HAS DEMENTIA AND REFUSES TO RIDE IN MY BACK SEAT. I ALSO HAVE FOUR CHILDREN WHICH MUST BE TRANSPORTED WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WITHOUT A SAFE FRONT AIRBAG. MY MERCEDES DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME THAT IT IS, ON MENTOR AVENUE, IN MENTOR OHIO 44060, REFUSES TO HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE AND CONTINUES TO BLAME IT ON MERCEDES. I JUST FORMALLY RECEIVED A RECALL FRO T.K. HOLDINGS OF MONROE, WI INFORMING ME TO CONTACT MY DEALER. WHAT NOW? THE CAR IS USELESS FOR ME WHEN IT COMES TO TRANSPORTING FAMILY OR FRIENDS.

THE DEALER IS TELLING US THEY WILL NOT TAKE OUR CAR FOR A TRADE IN AS THE AIR BAGS DO NOT WORK AND NO REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. THEY TOLD US ON ONE WILL BUY THE CAR AS THE AIR BAGS DO NOT WORK. WE ARE NOW OUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!
TAKATA RECALL I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS FOR MY VEHICLE. I KEEP ASKING AT COURTESY MOTORS IN CHICO, CA WHEN THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS WILL COME IN SO I CAN HAVE THEM INSTALLED. THEY STILL HAVE NOT COME IN!!! I HAVE BEEN UNCOMFORTABLE FOR YEARS DRIVING MY VEHICLE KNOWING THAT MY AIRBAGS MAY CAUSE DANGER TO MY PASSENGERS AND MYSELF IF THEY INFLATED!!

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A POSTCARD FROM TK HOLDINGS, ALERTING HER THAT THEY FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL THE INFLATORS HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND MB WEBSITE INDICATES THAT SIGNIFICANT DEGRADATION OF THE PROPELLENTS OCCURS IN 6 TO 9 YEARS FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN HUMID AREAS. THE CALL IS 9 YEARS OLD AND IN A HUMID AREA, YET MB REFUSES TO FIX AIRBAG, DEACTIVATE AIRBAG OR PROVIDE ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION. MB IS FORCING ME TO ASSUME THE RISK OF DRIVING A VEHICLE, THEY ADMIT IS LIKELY NOW UNSAFE.
THE AIRBAGS WERE NOT REPLACED YET
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCEDES-BENZ C350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR. MONTHS AFTER THE ODOR WAS NOTICED, THE VEHICLE BECAME INOPERABLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT FUEL ENTERED INTO THE CARBON FILTER AND THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

"TAKATA RECALL" THERE ARE CURRENTLY 2 OPEN RECALLS - #16V081 (FEBRUARY 11, 2016) AND #16V363 (MAY 25, 2016) BEING THESE RECALLS HAVE BEEN OPEN AND NOT RESOLVED FOR OVER 1 YEAR CAUSES MY BEING EXTREMELY CONCERNED AS TO THE RESULTS OF INJURY TO INCLUDE DEATH CAUSED BY THIS. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED VIA MAIL FOR THE SOLUTION OR EVEN AN UPDATE OF THE RECALL WHICH AS THE OWNER AND PRIMARY DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. LUCKILY I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE TAKATA AIRBAGS NEED TO BE ACTIVE. I WILL NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MERCEDES DEALER BECAUSE THEY NORMALLY DO NOT PROVIDE A SOLUTION BESIDES GIVING ME ALTERNATIVES AND SELLING OTHER SERVICE ITEMS INSTEAD OUTSIDE OF ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE RECALLS. MERCEDES-BENZ OF BELLEVUE FAILS TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ON THE VEHICLE, WHERE BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS ARE IDENTIFIED TO BE MANUFACTURED BY TAKATA, AND ARE IN IMMEDIATE NEED OF REPLACEMENT.
"TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE CONTACTED MERCEDES BENZ ARROWHEAD IN ARIZONA THREE TIMES SINCE RECALL CAME OUT AND THEY NEVER HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE RECALL. THIS IS A VERY CRITICAL RECALL AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THAT COULD CAUSE A POSSIBLE DEATH SITUATION. EVEN AN ESTIMATED TIME FOR THIS FIX, SEEMS TO ME, SHOULD BE MANDATORY.

WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT A CERTAIN SPEED THE REAR END STARTS FISHTAILING MAKING IT HARD TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE
RECALL HAS BEEN ACTIVE OVER A YEAR AND NO REPLACEMENT IS AVALIBLE AND I CANT SELL MY VEHICLE WITH THE ACTIVE AIRBAG NO ONE WILL BUY DEALER HAS NO RESOLVE FOR THE ISSUE
NEED TO HAVE A RECALL FOR CARS ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN SWITCH FAILURE. KEY SWITCH FAILURE CAUSED STEERING COLUMN TO LOCK WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION. UNABLE TO TURN OR PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. CAR ENGINE STOPPED IN MIDDLE OF CITY STREET. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. DRIVER AND PASSENGERS UNABLE TO GET TO OR NO WHERE TO GO FOR SAFETY DUE TO HIGH VOLUME OF TRAFFIC. THERE ARE MANY NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES PERTAINING TO THE MALFUNCTIONING KEY SWITCH SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND CAR RECALL INITIATED TO UPGRADE TO A SAFER MORE RELIABLE PART IMMEDIATELY.
VEHICLE FAILED TO START/CRANK AFTER ONLY 28,000 MILES. CAUSE WAS A FAILED ESL (ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK) PART OF THE ELECTRONIC THEFT SYSTEM THAT TIES WITH THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH. THE FAILURE OF THIS PART DISABLES THE CAR AND IS UNUSABLE. THIS ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL, W204 - C-CLASS 300/350, HAS AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF REPORTS VIA MERCEDES BENZ INTERNET FORUMS ABOUT THIS VERY FAILURE. 13 PAGES WORTH ON ONE. GIVEN THE LOW AMOUNT OF MILES ON MY VEHICLE, THE FAILURE RATE SEEMS UNREASONABLY HIGH. THE PART FAILURE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE USE/ABUSE OF THE VEHICLE.

MY MERCEDES WAS RUNNING GOOD ALL DAY THEN WHEN I WENT TO THE MALL AND CAME BACK BACK TO START MY CAR IT HAD NO POWER. WE TRY JUMPING THE CAR NOTHING. USE A DIFFERENT KEY NOTHING.. IT WON'T START I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK . I TOOK IT TO MERCEDES DEALER JUST TO LOOK AT IT $300 .. NOW THEY SAY IT'S THE KEY INGOTION THAT NEEDS TO REPLACE COST ME $1200+.. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 7 MONTHS AGO I HAVE NO WARRANT.. MY KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WON'T COME OUT!! AND THERE'S NOT POWER FOR ME TO TURN TJRNCAR OVER.
WHILE DRIVING ALL OF A SUDDEN THE STEERING STOPPED WORKING. IT TURNED FREELY BOTH SIDES BUT THE CAR WAS GOING STRAIGHT. IT HAPPENED ON A CITY ROAD. IF IT HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY IT WOULD BE A DISASTER.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER VEHICLE INSPECTION I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. MERCEDES BENZ HOUSTON-GREENWAY PLAZA DID CAM SHAFT SOLENOID WORK COST $500. ROUGHLY A WEEK LATER I GOT STRANDED AT WORK. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE TO GET IT TO START AGAIN AND TOOK IT TO REPAIR SHOP NOW ITS $1,346.29 FOR ENGINE COMPUTER WORK.
STEERING LOCK MECHANISM FAULTY. STEERING LOCKED AND CAR INOPERABLE. CAR WAS PARKED. HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER.
EIS/ESL FAILED AT 100K DESPITE REGULAR MAINTENANCE

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT OPENED THE DOOR AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTING WAS NOT ILLUMINATED, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTING WAS DIM, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, AND THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (SCHUMACHER EUROPEAN, LOCATED AT 18530 N SCOTTSDALE RD PHOENIX, AZ 85054) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 1-956218644. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.

COMAND UNIT WENT OUT ALONG WITH STEREO FUNCTIONS DRIVER SEAT CONTROL WENT OUT
ESL FAILED IN UNLOCKED POSITION, CAR WONT START.
ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK (ESL) GOES OUT DAMAGED WITHOUT REASON, HAPPENED ALL OF A SUDDEN TO MY PARKED CAR. CAR SIMPLY WON'T ATTEMPT TO START AND STEERING HIS COMPLETELY LOCKED. ONLY OPTION IS TO TOW IT TO THE SHOP AND A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR FIX. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF CASES ALREADY REGISTERED ON THIS AND IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS PART USED IN MANY MERCEDES CARS.
ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK- CAR WAS RUNNING FINE NO ISSUES PARKED THE CAR WENT BACK OUT TO START LESS THAN AN HOUR AFTER PARKING AND GOT NOTHING DASH CAME ON NO RADIO,NO WINDOWS,NO RELEASE FROM PARK, AND STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED AND WILL NOT UNLOCK. LEFT STRANDED HAVE TO HAVE A TOW TO CLOSEST MERCEDES BENZ DEALER 45 MILES AWAY....ESTIMATED COST AFTER 310.80 TOW 1200 TO 2000
APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS AGO THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK MODULE (ESL MODULE) FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START WHILE THE STEERING WHEEL AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WERE LOCKED. HAD TO TAKE TO THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE MODULE AT A COST OF $840.00. RIGHT NOW THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH MODULE (EIS MODULE) FAILED AND AGAIN THE STEERING WHEEL AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WERE LOCKED AND THE CAR WILL NOT START. DEALER IS ASKING FOR $1150.00 TO REPAIR. THESE ARE KNOWN DEFECTS IN MERCEDES VEHICLES. I ASKED MERCEDES BENZ USA TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIRS OF THE VEHICLE IN BOTH CASES AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO ADMIT THAT THESE ARE KNOWN DEFECTS AND TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE.
VEHICLE PARKED AND LOCKED. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO UNLOCK VEHICLE WITH REMOTE CONTROL, VEHICLE WOULD NOT UNLOCK. DOOR HAD TO BE OPENED MANUALLY WITH "KEY". WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START VEHICLE, NO WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON IN POSITION 2 AND CAR WOUD NOT START IN POSITION 3. TOWING COMPANY WAS CALLED. WAS UNABLE TO START VEHICLE. VEHICLE TOWED TO MBZ DEALER. DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION STEERING LOCK MALFUNCTIONED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. REPLACEMENT COMPLETED.
THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND WILL NOT MOVE. DEALERSHIP AND WEB STATE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL OF THE CAR AND THE EIS AND ESL SWITCHES NEED TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED.
