WE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY OUR MERCEDES DEALER THAT OUR CAR HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS HAVING THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS BUT FOR OVER A YEAR THEY HAVE SAID THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS TO HELP. NOW A FEDERAL COURT RULING INFORMS US THAT WE CAN INDEED SCHEDULE A FREE REPAIR BUT MERCEDES STILL SAYS THEY CAN'T HELP. CALLING THE NUMBERS ON THE NOTIFICATION LETTER JUST GIVES US AUTOMATIC ANSWERING MACHINES STATING WE HAVE TO CALL MERCEDES BUT MERCEDES BENZ FLETCHER JONES IMPORTS LAS VEGAS JUST SAYS NO. TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE 3 OPEN RECALLS AND MY DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS SINCE THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. IS IT SAFE TO KEEP OPERATING THE VEHICLE WITH POTENTIALLY FAULTY AIR BAG?
TAKATA RECALL - MY DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG SINCE THEY WERE FIRST RECALLED. THEY CANNOT TELL ME WHEN OR IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS AS THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PARTS. DUE TO THE RECALL I CANNOT SELL THE CAR AND MY CIRCUMSTANCES HAVE CHANGED WHERE I NO LONGER NEED THE CAR. I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND RARELY USE THE CAR DUE TO THE FAULTY AIRBAGS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES BENZ C350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FAILED TO START THE VEHICLE AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS AND THE STEERING COLUMN DID NOT LOCK. IN ADDITION, CERTAIN ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, SUCH AS THE RADIO, DOOR LOCKS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS DID NOT FUNCTION. THE TAKE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT ELECTRONIC STEERING CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000. UPDATED 04/07/16*LJ *JS
VEHICLE NOT STARTING. NOT TURNING OVER. PARKED THE CAR FOR ABOUT 20 MIN IN MY MOMS DRIVEWAY. WHEN WE CAME OUT TO LEAVE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. THE RADIO WILL TURN ON. THE LIGHTS WILL TURN ON. WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR THE ODOMETER AREA TELLS ME TO REMOVE MY KEY. TRIED TO GET A JUMP FROM AAA. WHEN THEY ARRIVED THEY SAID IT WASN'T THE BATTERY. NOW I LOOK ON YOUTUBE AND OTHER MB BLOGS. AND THEY SAY THE FIX IS 1000$$$$$ TO 3000$$$$$$ AND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. I WILL UPDATE THIS WHEN I KNOW MORE.
PARKED MY VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE FOR WEEK 80,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. TRIED TO START CAR ONLY REMOVE KEYS LIGHT ON DASH AND ALL ELECTRONICS WORK. MERCEDES TOW SAYS NOT BATTERY BUT STEERING OR IGNITION COMPONENT ARE OUT! THIS IS LOOKING LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM PLEASE HELP BECAUSE THE DEALERS ARE WANTING THOUSAND OR MORE TO REPLACE.
MY MERCEDES WAS HIT IN THE FRONT IN DECEMBER AND AFTER PARTIAL REPAIRS WERE DONE, WE PICKED UP THE CAR AND ON 2ND DAY OF HAVING IT, IT WOULD NOT START. THOUGHT IT WAS BATTERY BUT OF COURSE IT WASN'T . HOOKED UP TO OUR SCANNER AND ALL KINDS OF CODES WERE DISPLAYED SO WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO WHERE REPAIRS WERE DONE AND THEY DETERMINED IT WAS ESL MODULE AND THEIR OPINION IT WAS CAUSED BY ACCIDENT. $2700.00 LATER OUT OF MY OWN POCKET WE HAVE CAR BACK AND FIXED. SO WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS, NOT US. I BELIEVE THAT MERCEDES SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THE OTHER INSURANCE SHOULD PAY FOR THIS ALSO. I SEE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS BUT MINE I BELIEVE WAS CAUSED BY ACCIDENT.
THE VEHICLE DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE KEY & DIDN'T TURN ON AND WAS NOT SHOWING AS PARKED. CALLED AAA TO CHECK THE BATTERY BUT WAS NOT IT. CALLED TOWING SERVICE TO GET THIS MOVED TO MY MECHANIC & TURNS OUT THIS IS DUE TO BAD ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK MECHANISM & ONLY DEALER CAN GET THIS REPLACED AND PROGRAMED WHICH COSTED ME $1200. CHECKED & TURNS OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2009 C300. WHY IS IT NOT BEING RECALLED??? THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ON THE ROAD!!! HAPPENED RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS SO HAD TO WAIT 2 DAYS FOR MY MECHANIC TO CHECK & TOWED AGAIN TO DEALER AND NOW I'M STILL WAITING FOR THE CAR WITHOUT A CAR FOR A WEEK. WITHOUT A WARNING OR ANY DASHBOARD LIGHTS MY CAR DID NOT START ONE MORNING, IT MADE A GUNCK SOUND AND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WOULD TURN ON. MY NEIGHBOR THEN TRIED TO JUMP START THE CAR AND ONLY THE RADIO WOULD TURN ON. I THEN CALLED AAA WHO WAS THE ABLE TO START MY CAR AND SAID THE BATTERY WAS GOOD AND THAT I SHOULD BE OKAY TO DRIVE. (I HAD LEFT NOTHING ON THE NIGHT BEFORE) I THEN WENT ON A 3 HOUR DRIVE DURING THE CHRISTMAS BREAK AND ABOUT AND HOUR IN THE CAR BEGAN ACTING WEIRD ALMOST AS IF IT WANTED TO SHUT OFF, AND RANDOMLY A SERVICE "ABS AND ESP" AND "AIR BAG" AND FEW OTHER THINGS WOULD COME ON THE DASH BOARD. AS SOON AS I GOT TO MY DESTINATION AND TURNED THE CAR OFF THE CAR WENT COMPLETELY DEAD, THIS TIME I WOULDN'T EVEN LET ME LOCK THE CAR WITH THE FOB. I HAD AAA COME AGAIN AND THEY WERE ABLE TO WITH A LITTLE PLAYING AROUND WITH THE KEY AND IGNITION, TURN IT BACK ON. MY WHOLE DRIVE BACK WAS WORSE THAN THE DRIVE THERE THAT I EVEN THOUGHT I WASN'T GOING TO MAKE IT HOME SAFELY BUT I MADE AND AGAIN AS SOON AS I PARKED, THE CAR DIED. SINCE IT WAS THE HOLIDAYS I WASN'T ABLE TO GO TO MERCEDES AND IN THE MEANTIME FOR 3 DAYS TRIED TO GET IT ON BUT NOTHING WITH BOTH SETS OF KEYS, THIS TIME IT WOULDN'T EVEN LET ME UNLOCK THE CAR AND THE ALARM KEPT GOING OFF WHEN I WOULD TRY TO UNLOCK IT . I CALLED AAA AGAIN TO UNLOCK AND START MY CAR BUT WERE UNABLE TO START THE CAR, THE ALARM KEPT GOING OFF EVERY TIME WE PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. WHEN LOOKING AT THE SYMPTOMS MY CAR IS HAVING ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THE CLOSEST MB TO ME IS ABOUT A 40 MINUTE DRIVE AND WILL BE VERY COSTLY TO HAVE IT TOWED AND FROM THE COMPLAINTS READ MOST HAVE HAD TO PAY BETWEEN 1200 -1500 TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR UNDER 2 YEARS, 95K MILES.
I GOT OFF WORK LAST NIGHT DROVE MY CAR HOME AND PARKED IT. THIS MORNING WHEN I AM ABOUT TO HEAD TO WORK GO INTO MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START ALL MY LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE CAR AND EVEN MY HEADLIGHT BUT IT WOULDN'T START FOR NOTHING IN THE WORLD. SO I TRYED TO GET A JUMP BUT THAT STILL WASN'T THE PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A DEALER.
SO MY 2009 C300 OUT OF NOWHERE DECIDES NOT TO TURN ON WHEN I PUT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION. THE KEY UNLOCKS THE DOORS AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INFORMATION COMES ON. HOWEVER, THE WINDOWS WILL NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN. THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT LIGHT WILL NOT TURN ON AND THE CAR WILL NOT START. INITIALLY, I TRIED MY SPARE KEY FOB (THAT I NEVER USE) AND IT DID TURN THE ENGINE ON AND I DROVE THE CAR AROUND FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES THINKING IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE MOMENT I PARKED MY CAR AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, SAME PROBLEM. IT WOULD NOT START NOW WITH EITHER KEY IN THE IGNITION. APPARENTLY THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF OWNERS WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR, ALL WITHIN THIS PAST QUARTER OF 2015. WHAT'S GOING ON?
LAST WEEK TOOK VEHICLE TO GET SERVICED AT MERCEDES BENZ OF BEVERLY HILLS. WHEN I GOT IT BACK I HEARD A WHISTLING/FLAPPING NOISE. IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO MERCEDES SERVICE. WAS TOLD ITS NOTHING OF CONCERN IF THE NOISE ONLY HAPPENS IN THE MORNINGS AND DISSIPATES WHEN DRIVING. EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT A 1100 MILE ROAD TRIP AHEAD AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. WAS REASSURED IT WAS JUST FINE. UPON ARRIVING AT MY DESTINATION THE NOISE ESCALATED NON-STOP COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS THE BELT TENSIONER ON MY VEHICLE. THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS NEARLY SHREDDED. THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 70,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER DOING SOME QUICK SEARCH ONLINE, IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE, BUT RATHER A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I'M PISSED THAT THE SERVICE ADVISOR PLAYED STUPID AS IF THIS WAS NOT A KNOWN WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND PUT MY SAFETY AT RISK. I'VE READ SOME OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS FAILURE WITH AS LITTLE AS 15,000 MILES AND SO FORTH. MERCEDES IS A FRAUD AND ARE WELL AWARE OF THESE ISSUES THEY JUST HOPE ITS NOT APPARENT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

I COULD NOT START THE CAR AFTER I CRANK MY KEY.DEALER DIAGNOSED "ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK ASSEMBLY" NEEDS TO BE REPLACE. COST $850.

THE PARAMEDICS ARRIVED AND ASSISTED IN REMOVING THE PASSENGER FROM THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. ONE INJURY WAS SUSTAINED, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. CAR WAS AT THE PARKING FRONT OF MY HOME, ABOUT TO GO TO WORK , CAR WON'T START , NO WARNING , NOTHING, COMPLETELY DEAD, HAD TO BE WITHOUT CAR FOR A WEEK, REPAIR COSTS 1,200. SO MANY OWNERS HAS SAME PROBLEMS, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUES WHY THIS WASN'T REPORTED AND RECALL ON THIS ONE. THOUGHT MERCEDES CARS ARE MOST RELIABLE, OBVIOUSLY THAT'S NOT TRUE . *JS
MY 2009 C300 MERCEDES DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. IT'S GOING TO COST $1,200. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL CAR. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I HAD TO PAY TOWING COST TWICE BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE MY CAR IN THE RESTAURANT PARKING LOT OVER NIGHT. I TOLD THE CAR HOME THEN I HAD TO TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY.
12/04/2015 PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION. TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. AFTER RESEARCHING I SEE THIS IS A COMING PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL.

CAR UNUSABLE, HAS TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP.THE REPAIR COST $1500, NOT EXACTLY CHEAP. THERE ARE COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING LOCK MODULE WHICH COST NEARLY $1200. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000 KM. THE CAR STARTED FINE IN THE MORNING AND WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES IN THE GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE CAR AND TRIED TO START IT, IT WOULD NOT CRANK. THE ALARM TURNED OFF FINE, RADIO AND LIGHTS WORKED, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER READ THE KEY AND GOOD ME TO REMOVE IT BEFORE EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION AND STEERING WHEEL WERE LOCKED IN PARK. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE STEERING LOCK MODULE. I READ ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR 27 DAYS AGO. FRIDAY NIGHT, I OPENED MY GARAGE DOOR AND GOT IN. IT WOULD NOT TURN ON. AFTER GETTING IT INSPECTED, I WAS GIVEN THE NEWS ABOUT THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I WAS BAFFLED BY HOW MANY PEOPLE WITH IDENTICAL CARS DISHED OUT THOUSANDS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR FROM THE DEALERSHIP. WHAT WAS MOST SURPRISING IS HOW IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT JUST ABOUT 80K MILES, LIKE CLOCKWORK. MY CAR HAS 78K MILES. THIS REPAIR WON'T BE COVERED BY THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY THAT I HAD JUST SPENT THOUSANDS ON. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL YET? THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON, CONSISTENT PROBLEM AMONG THESE CARS. DROVE MY 2009 MERCEDES C300 SPORT TO EMISSIONS STATION FOR TESTING. THE TECH TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THEN ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IN ORDER TO START/COMPLETE EMISSIONS TESTING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. THE KEY WOULD TURN BUT WOULD NOT START THE VEHICLE. TURNING THE KEY RESULTED IN OPERABLE INTERIOR LIGHTS, RADIO AND THE LOCKS WORKED BUT NOTHING ELSE. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO DEALER AND, JUST LIKE OTHER OWNERS, THE CAUSE IS A "BAD" STEERING LOCK. COSTS UPWARDS OF $1000 TO FIX, POSSIBLY DOUBLE THAT IF THE IGNITION MODULE ALSO NEEDS REPLACING, WHICH THEY WON'T KNOW UNTIL THEY CAN REPLACE THE STEERING LOCK FIRST. MY CAR HAS 122K MILES, PURCHASED CERTIFIED PRE OWNED. I HAVE SAFETY CONCERNS REGARDING THIS ISSUE SINCE IT SEEMS IT COULD HAVE OCCURRED WHILE I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE.

AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS ADVISED IT WOULD BE $952.56 FOR AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN AND CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME. SO I INQUIRED ON HOW LONG THIS WOULD BE COVERED FOR? I WAS TOLD ITS ELECTRICAL AND CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME, IT'S LIKE A CELLPHONE OR A COMPUTER. YET THOSE HAVE WARRANTIES AGAINST ISSUES LIKE THAT WHEREAS SOMETHING I PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DOES NOT.
