REFERENCE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE12001. 1ST INCIDENT (2007), HEAVY FUEL SMELL INSIDE MY CAR, NOTICED A LOT OF GAS INSIDE CAR UNDERNEATH REAR SEATS, AND A LOT OF GAS LEAKING UNDERNEATH DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE AND HOW FUEL WAS LEAKING ON EXHAUST BY REAR TIRE. FLETCHER JONES MERCEDES DEALERSHIP LAS VEGAS FIXED IT UNDER WARRANTY VIA REPLACED FUEL PUMP. 2ND INCIDENT (2009), EXACT SAME THING, DEALER REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND THIS TIME ALSO INSTALLED ENTIRE NEW FUEL TANK. 3RD INCIDENT (MARCH 2012), SAME THING AS 1ST INCIDENT. THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP AND THEY SHOWED ME THE DEFECTIVE LEAKING FUEL PUMP. I PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE IT FIXED THIS 3RD TIME. MY 2005 E55 AMG IS A STATION WAGON, WITH 2 REAR SEAT CHILD SEATS, RIGHT OVER THE LEAKING FUEL PUMP AND LEAKED FUEL. IT IS SCARY TO KNOW THAT IF THE FUEL EVER LEAKED ON THE EXHAUST WHILE I AM DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND TWIN 6 YEARS SON AND DAUGHTER THAT THERE COULD BE A FIRE...GOD FORBID IF MY WIFE WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND KIDS IF IT EVER HAPPENED. THAT IS WHY SHE IS NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE MY CAR. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER E CLASS OWNERS THAT HAD AND/OR AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *JS
TRAVELING DOWN STEEP HILL AT 45 MPH. ATTEMPTED TO APPLY BRAKES AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AT BOTTOM OF HILL. BRAKING SYSTEM TOTALLY FAILED AS A WARNING LIGHT READ "BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE - SERVICE IMMEDIATELY" ATTEMPTED TO APPLY BRAKE MANUALLY BUT DID NOT HAVE TO STRENGTH TO PUSH THE PEDAL HARD ENOUGH TO STOP THE CAR AT THAT SPEED. I MANUALLY DOWNSHIFTED THE CAR AND IT SLOWED TO ABOUT 10 MPH AND I COASTED IT ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE MAIN ROAD AND WAS THEN ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL MANUALLY. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING, THE BRAKE SYSTEM WORKED AGAIN FOR A FEW MINUTES AND AGAIN FAILED. APPARENTLY A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION. *JB
MY MERCEDES E 320 HAD A RECALL BECAUSE OF A DEFECT IN BRAKING IN 2006> I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO REPAIR AND IT WAS THE SAME.. I BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY SAY IT IS THE FRONT ROTOR , WHICH IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR HAS 16000 MILES ON A 2005. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE ROTOR COULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SUCH LOW MILES . I THINK THEY ARE TRYING TO NOT BE RESPONSIBLE.. THE ROTORS ON A LEASE CAR SHOULD BE WARRANTED...*JB
WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOST POWER. TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CAR WAS IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIRS WITHOUT SUCCESS. CHANGED THE EGR VALVE TO NO AVAIL. WHEN THE CAR LOOSES POWER I HAVE TO RESTART IT ,AND THEN IS FINE FOR A WHILE. BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AN SILL HAVE IT. *TR
CAR WOULD NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATE FROM REDUCED SPEED. INCIDENT OCCURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS. LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON ENTRY TO FLORIDA TURNPIKE. CAR REQUIRED CONSIDERABLY MORE THAN QUARTER OF MILE TO REACH 50 MPH. ALMOST REAR ENDED BY TEN WHEELER THAT COULD NOT MOVE TO PASSING LANE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. DEALER CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE SITUATION. DEALER FOUND FAULTY GLOW PLUG. DOUBTFUL THAT THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH PROBLEM. DEALER NOW CHECKING PROBLEM AGAIN. INCIDENT OCCURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS DURING PAST TEN DAYS. ALMOST REAR ENDED BY TEN WHEELER *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MERCEDES BENZ E320. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE AND THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V303000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE DEALER DID NOT RECODE THE SCN, BUT RATHER EMPTIED THE FUEL TANK AND REPLACED THE FUEL AND THE FUEL LEVER SENSOR. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA13003 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE CONTACT REPORTED THE SAFETY CONCERN WITH THE AIR BAG SENSOR, WHICH WAS NOT INCLUDED IN PE: 10017 (AIR BAGS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER MORE THAN TWICE, BUT THE FAILURES PERSIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
AT 2 SEPARATE TIMES THE HIGH PRESSURE DIESEL INJECTION SYSTEM FAILED AND DUMPED RAW DIESEL ALL OVER. ON THE LAST EVENT IT SPRAYED AGAINST THE EXHAUST HEADERS AND CREATED A LOT OF SMOKE. *NM
SRS (PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEM) FAILURE. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING CAR WITH MESSAGE THE SRS HAD MALFUNCTIONED WHICH COULD CAUSE AIRBAGS TO NOT DEPLOY. TOOK CAR TO DEALER WHO VERIFIED COMPLAINT. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN SIX MONTHS THAT THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED. DEALER PERFORMED THE EXACT SAME SERVICE AS THEY DID ON THE SECOND FAILURE (6/29/06). THEY REWIRED THE PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEM PER INSTRUCTIONS FROM MERCEDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. *NM
2005 MERCEDES-BENZ E 55 AMG CUSTOMER STATES THAT HE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS SENT A RECALL #2005110001 AFTER PICKING CAR UP THE NEXT WEEK SAME PROBLEMS HE WAS CHARGED FOR SERVICE AND WANTS TO REIMBURSED**CC THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THE VEHICLE NEVER DROVE THE SAME. THE CONSUMER STARTED TO EXPERIENCE OTHER PROBLEMS. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE BRAKING WAS DIFFERENT AND IT REQUIRED EXTRA EFFORT. WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHT FLUID LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE SBS HYDRAULIC UNIT WAS DAMAGED AND LEAKING, WHICH WAS THE SAME PART THAT WAS REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP UNDER RECALL. THE SEAT SWITCH WAS REPLACED, THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS WERE WORN. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATED WHEN THERE WAS NO ONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. *JB
ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT, THE CAR GEAR WAS SHIFTED TO DRIVE, BUT RATHER THAN GOING FORWARD, IT PROCEEDED TO ROLL BACKWARDS ON THE INCLINE ON WHICH IT WAS PARKED AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT A CLIP IN THE GEAR BOX HAD BROKEN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY THEREFORE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED OFF THE ROAD WHERE IT WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, THE DEALER STATED THEY REPLACED A VALVE. UPDATED 07/07/06. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE ABS INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL BRAKING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE SBC PUMP WAS REPLACED. AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE ABS INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN HOWEVER; THE BRAKES DID NOT FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER; THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. NOW FOR THE THIRD TIME WHILE DRIVING 10 TO 15 MPH THE ABS INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL BRAKING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND THE SBC PUMP WAS REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MERCEDES BENZ E320. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A DAILY OCCURRENCE OF MASSIVE RFID LEAK WHICH CAUSED PAIN TO THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THE ONLY WAY TO PROTECT FROM THE PAIN WAS TO COVER THE BODY WITH ALUMINUM SHIELDING OR METAL. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD FAIL TO START INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 153,000.
SRS LIGHT ON - MESSAGE ON DASH THAT SRS HAS MALFUNCTIONED. TOOK CAR TO DEALER ON 2/20/06 AND WAS TOLD I COULD WAIT FOR CAR. AS IT TURNED OUT I DID NOT GET MY CAR BACK UNTIL 6PM ON 2/22/06. PER DEALER'S REPAIR INVOICE...CHECK CODES AND EVALUATE. CHECK ACTUAL VALUES AND CHECK DTB. PERFORM REPAIRS, REPLACE WIRING TO STEERING WHEEL CONTROL MODULE. ON 06/29/06 SRS LIGHT ON AGAIN WITH MALFUNCTION MESSAGE. TOOK TO DEALER AND ADVISED SAME PROBLEM AS ON 2/20/06. CAR IS AT DEALER AWAITING REPAIR AND HAS BEEN PROMISED FOR TODAY, 6/30/06. *NM
SEAT BELT CHIME GOING OFF WHEN SEAT NOT OCCUPIED. *JB
I OWN A 2005 MERCEDES E320 CDI (DIESEL). THE CAR GIVES OFF BLACK SMOKE (INTERMITTENTLY) AND A BLACK TAR LIKE SUBSTANCE (BLACK SOOT) POURS OUT OF MY EXHAUST. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO MERCEDES AND THEY STATE, "THE CAR IS OPERATING WITHIN FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS." THE DEALERSHIP (SKYLAND AUTOMOTIVE, ASHEVILLE, NC) STATES THAT IT IS DUE TO POOR QUALITY DIESEL FUEL. I HAVE CONSIDERED LEGAL ACTION UNDER THE "NC LEMON LAW", BUT WOULD RATHER JUST HAVE THE PROBLEM SOLVED OR A RETURN OF THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE VEHICLE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. UPON INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG AND ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER'S AIR BAG SENSOR WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN AN ADULT PASSENGER WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, INDICATING THE AIR BAG WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. WHEN A CHILD OR A PERSON UNDER THE WEIGHT GUIDELINES SAT IN THE PASSENGER'S SEAT THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT BE ACTIVATED. THE LIGHT CAME ON/OFF RANDOMLY, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE IF THE AIR BAG WAS FUNCTIONING WHEN NECESSARY. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM FOUR TIMES, AND HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. THE DEALER PLANNED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER FOR ASSISTANCE IN DETERMINING THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
DT: CONSUMER BOUGHT THIS NEW VEHICLE IN JULY OF 2004, IN FEBURARY 2005 HIT A SLIGHT BUMP AND EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE. SINCE THEN , HAD 3 MORE FLATS TIRES FROM VERY MINOR RIDGES IN THE ROAD. SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED TO REPLACE ONE TIRE WITH ORG TYPE TIRES, SPOKEN WITH MANUFACTURER AGAIN, AND THEY OFFERED TO REPLACE 2 TIRES WITH CONTIPRO CONTACT TIRES, AS LONG AS HE BOUGHT 2 TIRES AT RETAIL.*AK
DT: SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT: CONTACT STATES WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE HE RAN OVER A PIECE OF RUBBER IN THE ROAD, ALL THREE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE SERVICE DEALER STATES THE PASSENGERS IN THE REAR OF THE CAR WERE JOLTED BECAUSE OF HITTING THE RUBBER IN THE ROAD. CONTACT STATES WHILE DECELERATING THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTS, THE BRAKE SYSTEM SLOWS DOWN TOO MUCH AND VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD. IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC HAS NO BRAKE CONTROL.*AK
I HAVE A MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS CDI THAT HAS A DEFECT IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT RATHER THE BRAKES MAKE A HIGH PITCHED SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN APPLIED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN GERMANY AND THAT THE NOISE CANNOT BE FIXED. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN WITHIN 1 MONTH OF THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE. PURCHASE DATE 4-29-05
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW MERCEDES WITH A GPS. IN MY OPINION, THE DEVICE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND WILL CAUSE COUNTLESS ACCIDENTS IN ITS PRESENT STATE. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN I WAS AT THE ZOO ON CONN. AVE. IN D.C. AND PROGRAMMED THE DEVICE TO GET TO REAGAN NATIONAL, IT INSISTED ON TAKING CONN. AVE. DOWNTOWN AND CUTTING ACROSS TO 14TH ST. I ELECTED TO TAKE ROCK CREEK PARKWAY TO THE MEMORIAL BRIDGE AND THEN DOWN RT. 110. WITHIN A QUARTER OF A MILE AFTER ENTERING ROCK CREEK, THE DEVICE WAS TELLING ME TO MAKE A LEFT. ABSENT AN ATV, THIS ILLEGAL TURN COULD NOT BE PERFORMED. ADDITIONALLY, WHERE IT WANTED ME TO GO WAS AN ON-RAMP (WITH A DO NOT ENTER SIGN) FOR TRAFFIC TRAVELING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. A LITTLE LATER IT SUGGESTED A RIGHT TURN INTO A STEEP EMBANKMENT. FINALLY, AS I WAS PASSING THE KENNEDY CENTER IT SUGGESTED A LEFT TURN INTO IT. ONLY WHEN I REACHED THE MEMORIAL BRIDGE DID IT DECIDE TO RECALCULATE THE ROUTE. THE PROBLEM, AS I SEE IT, IS THAT A FAIR PERCENTAGE OF DRIVERS WILL BLINDLY FOLLOW THE VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS WITH SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. INCIDENTALLY, TALKING WITH THE SALESMAN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, HE TOLD ME THAT THEY ALL READY HAD A WOMAN DRIVE INTO A LAKE. MY VERBALIZATION OF THIS PROBLEM IS TOTALLY INADEQUATE THEREFORE I INVITE ONE OR MORE OF YOUR STAFFERS IN D.C. FOR A TEST RIDE. *JB
BRAKES GRIND WHEN PUT IN DRIVE, PARK AND AT STOP LIGHTS. SEAT BELT INDICATOR HAD TO BE FIXED AFTER 5 TIMES AT THE SHOP, BRAKES WERE IDENTIFIED WITH A PROBLEM BY MBZ AFTER 6 VISITS TO THE SHOP (FLETCHER JONES MBZ LAS VEGAS), TECH STATED ON THE INVOICE HE IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AND ORDERED THE PARTS. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN TO GET THE PARTS, THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THERE WAS A MISTAKE AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND MBZ WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. CURRENTLY NONE OF THE SEAT BELTS WORK (WHEN SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES THEY DO NOT LOCK). CONTROL PANEL READS "SRS MALFUNCTION DRIVE TO SHOP", "AIRBAGS OFF", "CHECK ENGINE". FLETCHER JONES MBZ LAS VEGAS REFUSES TO COMPLY WITH THE LEMON LAW, REPAIR FOR ONE MALFUNCTION MORE THAN 3 TIMES, OUT OF SERVICE (IN THE SHOP) FOR MORE THAN 30 DAYS IN ONE CALENDAR YEAR. *NM
ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OUT OF SERVICE 18 DAYS, SRS/AIRBAG FAILURES OUT OF SERVICE 18 DAYS, AC/DEFROST BLOWER MOTOR FAILURES OUT OF SERVICE 12 DAYS, BRAKES OUT OF SERVICE 9 DAYS, TRANSMISSION (IDLE SURGE/UP SHIFTING/STALLING) OUT OF SERVICE 10 DAYS, FRONT END/TIRES OUT OF SERVICE 10 DAYS. DURING THE LEMON LAW FINAL REPAIR ATTEMPT, THE DEALER WROTE ON WORK ORDER THAT THEY HAD INSTALLED NEW BRAKES BECAUSE THEY FOUND "AFTER MARKET BRAKES" ON CAR. THE ONLY PLACE THE CAR HAS EVER BEEN SERVICED WAS THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT. WE ASKED THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER (FIRST THEY SAID THE BRAKES WERE THROWN OUT AND THEN THEY SAID THE PARTS WERE SHIPPED TO MB) AND WROTE TWO CERTIFIED LETTERS TO MERCEDES BENZ FOR THE REMOVED PARTS SO WE COULD TRACK THE SERIAL NUMBERS. WE WERE IGNORED. THE REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE WHO INITIATED THE "BRAKE REPLACEMENT" WAS CONVENIENTLY "PROMOTED OUT OF THE AREA" JUST BEFORE THE LEMON LAW HEARING SO HE COULD NOT BE QUESTIONED. WE HAD BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE BRAKES, ESPECIALLY THE STOPPING DISTANCE, FROM THE BEGINNING AND THEY KEPT SAYING NO PROBLEM FOUND. THE DEALER WOULD NOT DOCUMENT IT ON THE WORK ORDERS. *JB
CONTROLS ON STEERING COLUMN PERIODICALLY DO NOT WORK. WHILE MOST OF THESE ARE CONVENIENCE ITEMS, THE HORN ALSO DID NOT WORK. HAPPENED 4 TIMES--12/16 DRIVING TO WORK; 12/'20 DRIVING TO AND FROM DULLES AIRPORT; 12/26 IN THE MORNING. EACH TIME THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 30 DEGREES F. DEALER SERVICED VEHICLE ON 12/22--SAID WIRING WAS REPAIRED BUT EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM AGAIN ON 12/26. RESTARTING CAR DOES NOT RESET THE CONTROLS. CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING WITHOUT AN OPERABLE HORN.*AK
THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. WHEN THE CONSUMER MADE A LEFT TURN ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN A RED LIGHT AND HIT THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE. THE SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN HER 2005 MERCEDES E320 WHICH DAMAGED THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. *NM A SPECIAL EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE AIR BAGS PERFORMED AS THE SHOULD BECAUSE THE COLLISION WAS A LATERAL IMPACT. *NM
CONSUMER STATED 2005 E-500 MERCEDES-BENZ DID NOT STOP AND JUMPED OFF CURB AND CRASHED. *BF THE VEHICLE JUMPED THE CURB AND CRASHED INTO A GLASS DOOR OF A DENTIST OFFICE AND SIDE SWIPED ANOTHER VEHICLE. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED IRREGULAR SPEED. THE CONSUMERS FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKES THE ENTIRE TIME. MERCEDES FOUND NO PROBLEM. REFER TO ODI# 10115643. *SC
DT: 2005 MERCEDES-BENZ E500. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. WHEN THIS HAPPENED IT RAN INTO A WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THE CONSUMER'S FOOT MUST HAVE BEEN ON THE ACCELERATOR, NOT THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE RAN NORMALLY PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM. NOTHING WAS REPLACED FOR THIS PROBLEM, JUST THE BODY PARTS. NO ONE INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT TAKEN. THIS WAS THE ONLY TIME THIS HAPPENED WITH THE VEHICLE.*AK *JB
SRS (PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEM FAILURE) WARNING LAMP CAME ON WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE (2005 MERCEDES BENZ C230 SPORT SEDAN) WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER'S MANUAL. VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS SINCE 7/26/04. ON 8/17/04 THE VEHICLE WAS STILL NOT REPAIRED. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THERE ARE OVER TWENTY (20) VEHICLES WITH THE SAME FAILURE AWAITING PARTS. SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL REPAIRED AND WOULD NOT LET ME TAKE THE CAR FROM THE REPAIR FACILITY. *JB
THERE WAS A REFLECTOR OF THE WINDOW ON THE DRIVER SIDE THAT REFLECTED IN THE SIDE MIRROR. WHEN THE CONSUMER ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN THE REFLECTION WAS GONE. THE REFLECTION OF THE DASHBOARD WAS ALSO SEEN IN THE WINDOW. *JB *SC
THE VEHICLE SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING AND THE STEERING WHEEL SQUEAKED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY DEFECTS AFTER SERVICING THE VEHICLE. *JB
