AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, THERE IS A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE BOTH INSIDE THE CABIN AND OUTSIDE THE CAR. IT IS NAUSEATING AND CAUSES SEVERE HEADACHES TO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED WITH A SERIES OF CODES CONSISTENT WITH LOSS OF VACUUM (EVAP). FUMES ARE LEAKING INTO THE ATMOSPHERE BUT MOREOVER ARE IMPARTING THE DRIVER'S ABILITY TO SAFELY OPERATE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE ASSOCIATED NAUSEA AND HEADACHES. *TR
THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE SBC UNIT, WHICH EXPIRED DECEMBER 5, 2014. THE MESSAGE IN MY CAR APPEARED ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 17, 2014 OF THE FAILURE OF THE SBC UNIT THEREAFTER WHICH I CONTACTED THE POMPANO FLORIDA MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE ISSUE. ALTHOUGH I WAS ADVISED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED DECEMBER 5, 2014, I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND THEREFORE TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP SATURDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2014. AT THAT TIME, THE SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED ME THAT THE PART WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO REPLACE THE UNIT. I HAD TO BRING UP THE WARRANTY TO THE DEALERSHIP, THIS INFORMATION WAS NOT VOLUNTEERED TO ME. I WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR AS THE UNIT CONTROLLING THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS BROKEN AND THERE WAS NO CONTROL OVER THE BRAKES, WHICH COULD FAIL AT ANY MOMENT. I ASKED [XXX] (THE SERVICE MANAGER) TO EXPLAIN TO ME HOW MERCEDES BENZ WOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THIS PARTICULAR PART THAT CONTROLS THE BRAKES THAT WAS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND NO NOTIFICATION WAS PROVIDED REGARDING THIS? THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED FROM HIM AND MERCEDES BENZ USA WAS THAT THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, JUST A WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THE PART. YOU CAN SEE HOW RIDICULOUS THIS SOUNDS TO ANY HUMAN BEING. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 5 YEARS NOW AND THE PREVIOUS OWNERS WERE MY PARENTS WHO BOUGHT IT NEW FROM THE ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP.NEITHER ONE OF US EVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE REGARDING THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE ALSO TAKEN MY CAR MULTIPLE TIMES TO THE POMPANO FLORIDA MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP AND THIS ISSUE WAS NEVER BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION.THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I ENDED UP PAYING $1060 AFTER FIGHTING WITH THEM ON PAYING THE FULL PRICE. MERCEDES BENZ NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS BEFORE PEOPLE DIE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, CODE SCAN REVEALED CODE P0456. INSPECTION REVEALS FUEL LEAKAGE AT BOTH THE LEFT FUEL SENDER AND THE RIGHT FUEL PUMP HOUSINGS. LIQUID FUEL IS EXTERNALLY EVIDENT ALONG WITH THE ASSOCIATED SMELL OF RAW FUEL VAPOR. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR OF WHAT IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP GAS AT THE GAS STATION, I COULD SMELL GAS OUTSIDE AND INSIDE THE VEHICLE. GAS SMELL WAS VERY STRONG AND IT WAS SPREADING IN GARAGE AND INSIDE THE HOUSE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A GAS LEAK UNDER DRIVER SIDE REAR SEAT. THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF GAS UNDER THE SEAT NEXT TO ELECTRIC CONNECTORS. GAS SMELL IS VERY STRONG INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR. I COULD SEE FUEL DROPS ON FLOOR NEXT TO DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEELS. *TR
MY E500 HAS A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AFTER PUTTING A FULL TANK OF GAS. THE GAS SMELL DOES NOT GO AWAY AND THERE ARE NO FAULTS ON THE DASHBOARD. THE SMELL IS ALSO SLIGHTLY PRESENT INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MERCEDES BENZ E500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED AND THE MESSAGE BOARD DISPLAYED REDUCE BRAKING POWER. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000. UPDATED 02/25/15. *JB
BAD FUEL SMELL COMING INTO THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. THEY HAVE ALREADY REPLACED FUEL PUMP LAST YEAR AND IT WAS SMELLING SO I THOUGHT THERE WAS SOMETHING RELATED TO THAT. I WENT TO THE MECHANIC AND AFTER THEY TOOK APART THE BACK SEAT, THEY SHOWED ME THE WORK THEY DID AND THE CURRENT PROBLEM WHICH WAS A LEAK IN THE GAS TANK FROM THE TOP BOLT THAT IS MOLDED TO THE PLASTIC TANK. HE THEN SHOWED ME A STACK OF TANKS ABOUT 5 OR 6 FUEL TANKS HIGH, THAT HE SAID WERE THE TANKS THAT THEY CHANGED OUT LAST WEEK, SAYING THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE ROUGH ESTIMATE WAS $2000.00. *TR
FUEL LEAKING FROM REAL WHEEL AREA ON DRIVER SIDE. *TR
I RETURNED FROM A 2 AND A HALF WEEK TRIP AND STARTED UP MY CAR (WHICH I HAD FILLED UP PRIOR TO LEAVING ON MY TRIP) AND DISCOVERED A VERY STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN THE PASSENGER CABIN. THE ODOR DID NOT DISAPPEAR AS I DROVE THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND THEY SAID THE GASOLINE UNIT UNDER THE REAR SEAT WAS LEAKING. *TR
FUEL SMELL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. INSPECTED FUEL PUMP INSPECTION DOORS UNDER BACKSEAT TO FIND A POOL OF GASOLINE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE, BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MERCEDES BENZ E320. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING MAINTENANCE, THE TECHNICIAN NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LINE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
I SMELLED A GAS ORDER THAT WAS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. I DECIDED TO PULL THE PASSENGER SEAT TO FOLLOW THE SMELL AND NOTICED A PUDDLE OF GAS ON TOP OF MY FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT. I DECIDED TO PULL OUT THE UNIT AND NOTICED THE UNIT WAS DISCOLORED AROUND THE CONNECTOR TERMINALS. I BELIEVE THE TERMINAL MELTED THE SENDING UNIT CAUSING THE SENDING UNIT TO LEAK FUEL. I HAVE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS, PLEASE HELP. *TR
OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT SMELL OF FUEL WHENEVER I GET IN AND OUT OF MY E55. I HAD THE DEALER LOOK IT AT DURING MY LAST SERVICE A MONTH AGO AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG... I HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY FUEL LEAKING FROM BELOW THE CAR. AFTER VIEWING THE HUNDREDS OF THREADS AND COMMENTS ON THE FOLLOWING 30 PAGES ON A MERCEDES FORUM, I DECIDED TO HAVE A LOOK FOR MYSELF: HTTP://MBWORLD.ORG/FORUMS/W211-AMG/363759-URGENT-NOTICE-03-06-E55-S-WERE-INVOLVED-FUEL-SENDER-RECALL-BOMBS.HTML WHEN I TOOK OFF THE METAL COVERS ON TOP OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE SENDING UNITS I FOUND FRESH FUEL ON TOP OF BOTH UNITS. THE PASSENGER WAS VERY LITTLE. THE DRIVER SIDE WAS SIGNIFICANT AND SQUIRTING OUT FROM A PLASTIC NIPPLE THAT IS PART OF THE SENDING UNIT. MERCEDES REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM BASED ON THE 30+ PAGES FOUND ON THE LINK ABOVE. YOUR ORGANIZATION IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, THERE IS EVEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST MBNA. I WILL HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED AT MY OWN EXPENSE BY MY OWN MECHANIC BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE PATIENCE TO PUT UP WITH AN ARROGANT SERVICE ADVISOR WHO WILL SURELY DENY THIS IS WAS EVER A PROBLEM ON THE W211 E55 MERCEDES. I THINK ITS TIME THAT YOUR ORGANIZATION FORCE MBUSA/MBNA TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES. *TR
TOPPED THE GAS TANK WITH GASOLINE ON 11/02/14, ONLY TO FIND THE SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. LATER THAT SAME DAY MY WIFE AND KID NOTICED THE SMELL AS WELL AND THAT MADE IT A CONCERN FOR ME TO FIND THE PROBLEM. AFTER A SNIFF TEST, I LOCATED A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL EMITTING FROM UNDER THE REAR DRIVER SIDE SEAT. I DETACHED THE REAR SEAT CUSHION AND THE COVER PLATE THAT CONCEALS THE FUEL SENDER UNIT. WHEN I REMOVED THE COVER PLATE, GASOLINE WAS SITTING ATOP OF THE FUEL SENDER UNIT AND AROUND THE GAS TANK- FUEL SENDER CONNECTION AREA. AT THIS TIME THE SMELL OF GASOLINE WAS VERY STRONG AND WITH THE ELECTRICAL WIRES THAT FEED POWER TO THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR WHICH SITS ATOP/CONNECTED TO THE FUEL SENDER UNIT MAKES FOR A VERY EXPLOSIVE SITUATION. AFTER DRYING THE GASOLINE, I NOTICED A LARGE NUMBER OF SMALL HAIR LINE CRACKS ALL AROUND THE TOP OF THE FUEL SENDER UNIT. IN THE PROCESS OF PRICING FUEL SENDER UNIT FOR REPLACEMENT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE SPC CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,070.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THIS CAR HAS ONLY 43,000 MILES WITH PERFECT MAINTENANCE. IT HAS NEVER BEEN HIT. THE CAR IS LEAKING FUEL FROM THE TANK FOR NO OBVIOUS REASONS. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE THERE WAS A DESIGN PROBLEM AND THE TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $2000+. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

FILLED THE CAR UP AND A STRONG GAS SMELL FILLED THE GARAGE AND MY HOME. WE MOVED THE CAR TO SIT OUTSIDE OF THE HOME, BUT THE FUMES/SMELL LINGERED FOR HOURS. THIS MADE US DIZZY AND NAUSEOUS. *TR

RECALL # 2005070007 AND 2005110001 THE DEALERSHIP REFUSE TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PART FOR FREE. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A RECALL PART. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED FROM THE DEALER MARCH 2013 BUT THEY DID NOT TELL ME ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AFTER I ASKED THEM IF ANY RECALL ON 2005 MERCEDES. THE SERVICE MGR SAID ITS A WARRANTY ISSUE, TO MY KNOWLEDGE RECALL DOES NOT EXPIRE. AND IS NOT THE SAME AS WARRANTY. *TR

I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES, I FELT NO PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL BRAKES. I PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKES AND STILL THE CAR DIDN'T SLOW UNTIL I GOT TO A SLIGHT INCLINE AT THE END OF THE RAMP. THEN A RED WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD APPEARED READING "REDUCED BRAKE POWER". I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES. I MANAGED TO GET HOME SAFELY. I CALLED A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME TO CALL THE MERCEDES BENZ DEALER BECAUSE OF A POSSIBLE RECALL. AS PER THE MECHANIC, THIS ARE THE FAULTING CODES: C2131 - PRESSURE RESERVOIR FAULTY C249F - OPERATING TIME OF COMPONENT A7/3 (SBC LEFT HYDRAULIC UNIT) IS EXCEEDED C25D5 - HYDRAULIC FAULT MALFUNCTION IN PRESSURE SUPPLY AS OF THIS WRITING, MY BRAKES HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *TR
I AM REFERENCING ACTION # PE12001. AFTER EACH OF MY LAST TWO FEELINGS, THE CAR IS EMITTING A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. I PARK MY CAR IN MY GARAGE AND THE SMELL IS STRONG ENOUGH THAT I CAN SMELL IT IN MY HOME. I AM EXTREMELY FEARFUL THAT THERE WILL BE A FIRE. I DO NOT DESIRE TO PARK MY CAR OUTSIDE, BUT I BELIEVE THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO KEEP IN GARAGE. I HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE IN MY CAR FEARING THAT EVEN DRIVING IT AROUND TOWN COULD POSE A DANGER TO ME AND MY PASSENGERS.

THE GAS GAUGE READ HALF TANK AND WE BROKE DOWN BECAUSE WE WERE ACTUALLY ON E. THE FUEL SENSOR OR FLOAT WAS BAD TOO AND NOW THE GAUGE HAS GONE BAD. THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BEING AFFECTED. *TR

WHEN EVER WE FILL UP THE FUEL TANK , IT STARTS EMITTING TOO MUCH FOUL SMELL . I COMPLAINED TO THE NEW JERSEY MERCEDES HEAD QUARTER, THEY TOLD ME TO GO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSE, DEALER TOLD ME TO REPLACE THE TANK, WHICH COSTS ABOUT $ 4000 ,00 THERE IS DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF THE LOCATION OF FUEL TANK, THAT IS LOCATED UNDER THE BACK SEATS, IF IT EMITS FOULS SMELL THAT MEANS LEAKING GAS , IF ANY PASSENGER HAPPEN TO BE SMOKER, THAT CAN CATCH FIRE AND CAUSE DEATH AND INJURIES, THEY HAVE VERY VERY DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND DO NOT ADMIT PRODUCT LIABILITY PROBLEM.ALL THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED . *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MERCEDES BENZ E500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED IN AND AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER MY BRAKE HYDRAULICS WENT OUT (WHICH WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY) I STARTED TO NOTICE A STRONG GAS SMELL FROM INSIDE OF MY CAR, ALONG WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AFTER A COUPLE WEEKS OF AIRING OUT I DECIDED TO TAKE IT IN TO MERCEDES BENZ OF LITTLETON FOR REPAIR. I WAS CHARGED $1500 FOR THE REPAIR, WHICH STILL LEFT MY CAR SMELLING LIKE GAS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITH THE SAME ERROR CODE(SMALL EVAP. LEAK) I LIFTED THE BACK SEAT TO FIND THE BOTTOM SOAKED IN GUNNKY GAS ALONG WITH ELECTRICAL WIRES RUNNING THROUGH THE LEAK AREA. I'M AFRAID MY CAR WILL CATCH ON FIRE OR BLOW UP. I'M SICK OF THESE DANGEROUS MALFUNCTIONS THAT I FEEL MERCEDES KNOWS ABOUT BUT WON'T REPAIR FOR FREE. I ASKED THE SERVICE TECH WHAT I CAN DO TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AND HE SAID "NOTHING". NOW I'M $1500 IN THE DRAIN AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED, AND I WAS REASSURED THE PROBLEM WOULD SHOW UP AGAIN. *TR
VERY VERY STRONG FUEL SMELL INSIDE OF CAR AFTER A FILL UP. *TR
WHEN I FULL MY GAS TANK, I GET A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE BOTH INSIDE THE CAR AND OUTSIDE. INSIDE THE VEHICLE THE GASOLINE SMELL IS THROUGHOUT THE CAR AND SMELLS STRONGEST IN THE DRIVERSIDE REAR SEAT LOCATION. OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE THE STRONGEST SMELL OF GASOLINE SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE DRIVERSIDE REAR DOOR/WHEEL WELL. THE SMELL SEEMS TO LAST UNTIL THE GAS LEVEL GOES BELOW 3/4 OF A TANK OF GASOLINE. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I FULL THE GASOLINE TANK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MERCEDES BENZ E500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SBC WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
FUEL LEAK AND STRONG ODOR OF FUEL AFTER FILL UP. FUMES ARE HIGHLY FLAMMABLE, TOXIC AND NOXIOUS. THOUGHT THIS ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED UNDER NHTSA ACTION # EA13003 (DATED DEC 19TH 2014) AND MERCEDES IS TELLING ME THEY ARE UNAWARE OF ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO CORRECT THIS HIGHLY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND REFUSING TO CORRECT AS AGREEMENT PLAINLY CALLS FOR. PLEASE HELP. I DON'T WANT MYSELF OR WIFE BURNED ALIVE IN MY CAR ! *TR
BEGAN NOTICING GASOLINE SMELL IN GARAGE. TRACED SMELL TO THE CAR. THE SMELL HAS NOW INTENSIFIED THAT I CAN SMELL FUEL AS SOON AS I EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE SMELL IS NOW PREVALENT REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE TANK! IT SMELLS REALLY STRONG IN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL. I CAN NO LONGER PARK THE CAR IN MY GARAGE FOR FEAR OF FIRE. THE SMELL IS NOW BECOMING NOTICEABLE IN THE CABIN AS WELL. MY UNDERSTANDING IS NHTSA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND MERCEDES BENZ WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE A DESIGN FLAW. I SUPPOSE I OR SOME OTHER OWNER WILL HAVE TO GO UP IN FLAMES BEFORE ANYONE DECIDES TO DO THE RIGHT THING. HOW SAD. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR IN ON JULY 14, 2014 AFTER RECEIVING A BRAKE REPAIR ALERT ON MY DASHBOARD 1 DAY EARLIER. THE DEALER, JACK INGRAM MERCEDES, RAN A DIAGNOSTIC & REPORTED THE BRAKE PRESSURE RESERVOIR NEEDED REPLACING. I GOT THE ESTIMATE, PICKED THE CAR UP & TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION. JULY 16, 2014 I RETURNED TO JACK INGRAM MERCEDES & REQUESTED ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC. THE REPAIRMAN TOLD US THE BRAKE PRESSURE RESERVOIR NEEDED REPLACING & HE FLUSHED THE BRAKE FLUID. WE AGREED TO THESE REPAIRS WHICH COST $1767. THE DAY WE WERE EXPECTING TO PICK UP THE CAR, 2 WEEKS LATER, THE REPAIRMAN CALLED STATING THE BRAKE PUMP FAILED & IT WOULD NOW COST AN ADDITIONAL $2000 BECAUSE THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FROM THE LOT ON JULY 14, AT WHICH TIME THE BRAKE PUMP WAS STILL GOOD, THEREFORE THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE 10 YEAR UNLIMITED MILEAGE WARRANTY ON THE SBC PUMP. THE SERVICE MANAGER CHANGED THE STORY SEVERAL TIMES IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE THIS MY FAULT, HOWEVER THE CAR IS & HAS REMAINED IN THEIR POSSESSION SINCE THE 2ND DIAGNOSTIC WAS RUN ON JULY 16 AT WHICH TIME WE WERE TOLD ONLY THE BRAKE PRESSURE RESERVOIR HAD FAILED. SHE STATED THEY REPLACED THE RESERVOIR ONLY TO FIND THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE IT WITH A 2ND NEW RESERVOIR BECAUSE THE 1ST WAS APPARENTLY FAULTY & THAT'S WHEN THEY DISCOVERED THE PUMP WAS BAD. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS IS MY FAULT. THE PUMP WENT BAD WHILE IN THEIR POSSESSION AFTER THEY REPLACED THE RESERVOIR 2 TIMES. SHE ALSO REFUSED TO GIVE US A PRINTOUT OF THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT, PROBABLY BECAUSE THE REPORT WOULD SHOW THE DATE THEY FOUND THE PUMP FAILED PROVING IT WAS IN THEIR POSSESSION. I DO, HOWEVER, HAVE A COPY OF THE DIAGNOSTIC FROM JULY 14 & JULY 16 ON WHICH NEITHER SHOWS A SBC PUMP UNIT FAILURE. I AM ASHAMED BECAUSE THERE ARE AT LEAST 4 PEOPLE THAT I KNOW WHO HAVE BOUGHT A MERCEDES BECAUSE OF MY RECOMMENDATION. I ONLY HOPE THEY DON'T HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK TO FULL, I DROVE MY VEHICLE HOME AND NOTICED A DISTINCT GASOLINE SMELL IN THE GARAGE A FEW HOURS LATER. THE NEXT MORNING, THE SMELL IN THE GARAGE WAS EVEN STRONGER AND UPON OPENING THE DOORS OF THE VEHICLE, IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE GAS SMELL WAS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAS STRONGEST INSIDE. IN NOVEMBER 2012, CROWN AUTOMOBILE, A MERCEDES-BENZ DEALERSHIP, PERFORMED SERVICE ON THE CAR AND "FOUND THE RIGHT SIDE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR SEAL LEAKING". THE SEAL WAS REPLACED AND THE FUEL TANK WAS REFILLED AND CHECKED FOR LEAKS. AT THAT TIME, NO LEAKS WERE FOUND. HOWEVER, THE SMELL HAS REAPPEARED AND IS CONSISTENT WITH OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE. *JS
IN JUNE OF 2011 I PURCHASED A SET OF FOUR MICHELIN P215/60R16 PRIMACY MXV4 TIRES FOR MY 2005 MERCEDES BENZ E320 AUTOMOBILE. IN JULY OF 2014 ONE OF THE TIRES FAILED (LOST AIR PRESSURE WHILE PARKED) WHILE MY WIFE AND I WERE ON A WEEKEND TRIP OUT OF TOWN. THE LOCAL TIRE SHOP THAT REPAIRED THE FLAT INFORMED US THAT THE TIRE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED ? THE SIDEWALL HAD FAILED AND THE TIRE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILED MICHELIN TIRE HAD BEEN INSTALLED FOR 3 YEARS AND HAD 50% OF THE USABLE TREAD WEAR REMAINING (MEASURED LATER BY DISCOUNT TIRE). WE TEMPORARILY REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A NON-MICHELIN TIRE AND SAVED THE FAILED MICHELIN. WHEN RETURNING FROM OUR TRIP WE TOOK THE FAILED MICHELIN BACK TO THE DISCOUNT TIRE SHOP WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED THE SET. USING THE ROAD HAZARD GUARANTEES WHEN PURCHASING THE SET, DISCOUNT TIRE REPLACED THE FAILED MICHELIN WITH A NEW MICHELIN. WHILE PERFORMING OTHER VEHICLE MAINTENANCE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014 I OBSERVED A SECOND MICHELIN TIRE WITH A SIDEWALL CRACK FOLLOWING THE WHEEL BEAD FOR SEVERAL INCHES BEFORE PROGRESSING RADIALLY. I AGAIN TOOK THE FAILED MICHELIN BACK TO THE DISCOUNT TIRE SHOP WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED THE SET. THE FAILED MICHELIN TIRE HAD APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE USABLE TREAD WEAR REMAINING. USING THE ROAD HAZARD GUARANTEES WHEN PURCHASING THE SET, DISCOUNT TIRE REPLACED THE FAILED MICHELIN WITH A NEW MICHELIN. IN OCTOBER OF 2014 I PURCHASED A USED CAR WITH MICHELIN TIRES INSTALLED. SINCE RECENTLY EXPERIENCING MICHELIN TIRE FAILURES I EXAMINED THE USED CAR MICHELINS AND, SURE ENOUGH, I DISCOVERED A TIRE WITH THREE SIGNIFICANT INCIPIENT SIDEWALL FAILURES. THESE SIDEWALL FAILURES OF DIFFERENT YEAR MANUFACTURE MICHELIN TIRES SEEMS TO ME TO INDICATE A PATTERN OF QUALITY CONTROL PROBLEMS. MY LIMITED EXPERIENCE WITH THESE FAILURES SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT HAVING THE TIRE ON A VEHICLE FRONT POSITION ACCELERATES CRACK PROPAGATION. I WOULD LIKE TO ATTACH PICTURES OF THE TIRES (FOOT LONG CRACK - WORST CASE). *TR

I HAVE BEEN NOTICING A VERY STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE COMING OUT OF THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER SEAT IN THE BACK, OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. THE ORDER IS IN THE INSIDE OF THE CAR AS WELL, BUT IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT GENERALLY HAPPENS WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK AND THEN DISSIPATES AFTER THE GAS TANK IS AROUND 3/4 TO 1/2 FULL. I AM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE NOT ONLY, BECAUSE IT IS AFFECTING MY GAS MILAGE, BUT BECAUSE IT IS RISKING NOT ONLY MY LIFE BUT THE LIVES OF MY PASSENGERS. I AM SURE THAT THE INHALATION OF GASOLINE VAPORS IS NOT GOOD FOR ANYONES HEALTH AND NOT TO MENTION THE DANGERS OF THE VAPORS IN THE PRESENCE OF ANY KIND OF FLAME. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE, AND I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED EVENT. THIS HAS LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW OF MBUSA. MY RESEARCH HAS ALSO SHOWED ME THAT MBUSA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE ISSUES FOR QUITE SOME TIME, BUT IS INSISTING ON ITS COSTUMER PAY THE REPAIRS THAT RANGE ANYWHERE FROM $300 TO $1500. I WOULD COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND, THE CUSTOMERS ACCEPTING THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS, IF MBUSA PROVIDED A PRODUCT THAT WAS NOT ALREADY FLAWED IN ITS INCEPTION. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,179.
