FUEL LEAK FROM THE SEAL ON FUEL PUMP IN THE FUEL TANK. SMALL PAD OF FUEL ON A DRIVEWAY WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. ODOR SMELL WITH A/C ON. *TR
I WAS CHANGING LANES AND WENT TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOST POWER. THE CAUSE OF THE LOSS OF POWER IS A PLASTIC(YES PLASTIC) ROD THAT OPENS THE INTAKE TO INITIATE TURBO BOOST. THE FACT THAT HIS ROD IS MADE OF PLASTIC THAT CAN BREAK SO EASILY WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL IS DANGEROUS. MERCEDES BENZ IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE A QUALITY CAR THAT IS VERY COSTLY AND IT IS SHAMEFUL THAT IT IS MADE SO SHODDY CREATING A FALSE SENSE OF SAFETY AND QUALITY. I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND NOW HAVE TO FIX THIS JUNK. *TR

FUEL LEAKING FROM FUEL SENDING UNIT AND PUDDLING ON TOP OF TANK. MY WHOLE GARAGE IS FULL OF FUEL VAPOR! NOT TO MENTION IF IT CONTACTED A HOT PART ON THE CAR. I JUST FOUND OUT THIS IS A "KNOWN ISSUE". *TR
AS A LOYAL MERCEDES BENZ CUSTOMER FOR YEARS IT PAINS ME TO WRITE THIS LETTER. I AM SHOCKED TO SEE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST MBNA AND HAVE PERSONALLY HAD TWO FUEL CELL ISSUES IN TWO SEPARATE AMG CARS 6 YEARS APART. IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERED THE COST BEFORE AND THIS TIME. IT SICKENS ME THAT MBNA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN AND PRODUCTS UTILIZED IN THESE AMG VEHICLES YET THE DESIGN WAS CHANGED. CUSTOMERS ARE NOT TOLD THAT THIS IS A FLAW THAT HAPPENS ON MANY OF THE AMG INSTEAD THEY ARE TREATED AS IF EACH ARE UNIQUE CASES. SHAME ON MBNA FOR TREATING SUCH LOYAL CUSTOMERS WITH SUCH DISREGARD AND NOT ADMITTING TO THE PUBLIC THAT THIS IS A LIMITATION THAT CONSUMERS AND INSURANCE COMPANIES SHOULD BE AWARE OF FOR THEIR SAFETY. IT PERSONALLY PLACED MY FAMILY IN HARMS WAY THIS PAST WEEKEND DURING A TRIP TO NAPLES FL. I THINK EACH EXECUTIVE OF MBNA SHOULD BE FORCED TO DRIVE THEIR FAMILY WITH THIS ISSUES SO THEY BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW WE FEEL. FOR A COMPANY SO FOCUSED ON SAFETY...THEY ARE DROPPING THE BALL FOR THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS AND HIDING THE TRUTH. RESPECTFULLY I DEMAND THAT MBNA BE HELD DIRECTLY ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS DEFECT AND ADMIT THE ISSUE TO ALL AMG OWNERS 2003-2009. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES BENZ E350. AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 05/03/16*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. UPDATED 05/04/16. *JB
THE WIRING IN THE TRUNK THAT GOES TO THE REAR BRAKE AND LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS FAILED AND OPENS THE TRUNK FAILED. IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO OPEN THE TRUNK WITH THE REMOTE OR THE BUTTON IN THE CAR. THE ONLY WAY WAS TO USE THE VALET KEY. THERE WAS ALSO A WARNING IN THE DASH ABOUT ALL OF THESE LIGHTS BEING OUT. I TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY FOUND THE GROUND WIRE IN THE WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN THE TRUNK LINER AND THE TRUNK LID HAD BROKEN DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR. *TR
STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE FUMES FROM CAR, ESPECIALLY AFTER REFUELING. FUME SMELL GOES AWAY AS TANK LEVEL GOES DOWN. BROUGHT CAR TO FLETCHER JONES MOTOR CARS IN NEWPORT BEACH, CA, AND THEY REPORTED A HIGH GAS TANK FUEL LEAK, WITH GASOLINE BUILDING UP IN BODY BEHIND REAR DRIVER'S SEAT. THIS HAPPENS TO BE WHERE MY 8-YEAR OLD SON SITS IN THE CAR - ON TOP OF EXPLOSIVE GASOLINE. MERCEDES BENZ DENIES THERE IS ANY PROBLEM WITH THE E350 FUEL TANK, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTED PROBLEMS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. PLEASE REFERENCE NHTSA ACTION# PE12001. AFTER FILLING THE CAR WITH GASOLINE, THERE IS A VERY STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. THE SMELL OF GASOLINE GOES AWAY AFTER USING ABOUT A 1/4 OF THE TANK. I AM AWARE THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH E CLASS (W211) VEHICLES AND MERCEDES BENZ HAS BEEN DENYING ANY RESPONSIBILITY. I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER YET AND WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO ALLOW THE NHTSA TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE NOTICED STRONG GASOLINE ODORS EMANATING FROM MY CAR AFTER REFUELING. I DO NOT 'TOP OFF' WHEN REFUELING. RESEARCHED ISSUE ONLINE AT BENZWORLD.ORG AND DISCOVERED THAT THE GAS ODOR ISSUE I AM EXPERIENCING MAY BE RELATED TO A PROBLEM BEING SEEN IN NUMEROUS MERCEDES BENZ E-MODEL VEHICLES. THIS PRESENTS A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION AND I AM NO LONGER WILLING TO PARK THE VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. THE POOLING OF RAW GASOLINE ALSO REPRESENTS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE DUE TO THE EVAPORATION AND CREATION OF TOXIC FUMES. I UNDERSTAND THAT MERCEDES BENZ DEALERS ARE DEMANDING $2,000. OR MORE TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM BY REMOVING AND REPLACING THE GAS TANKS IN IMPACTED VEHICLES. I FEEL THAT THE MANUFACTURER OF THIS DEFECTIVE COMPONENT SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE TO RECALL IT AND REPLACE IT. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE NHTSA'S CURRENT INVESTIGATION ACTION NO. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. EACH TIME THE CONTACT FUELED THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED AN ODER OF FUEL AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF OXNARD (LOCATED AT 1511 AUTO CENTER DR, OXNARD, CA 93036) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD A LEAK AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.

SMELL OF GAS FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE NEAR RIGHT REAR TIRE. POOL OF GAS IN PLASTIC TRAY UNDER CAR. *JS
BOUGHT A CPO CAR FROM MB WEST CHESTER, PA AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED FRONT TIRE(S) MAKING THUD SOUND THAT IS MORE NOTICEABLE AT 25-30 MPS; ALTHOUGH AT HIGHER SPEEDS THE THUD SOUND CONTINUES. DEALER SAYS TIRE TREADS ARE ONLY WORN 30%, BUT RECOMMENDED NEW TIRES (WHICH WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE CAR!!). MANUFACTURER SAYS IT SOUNDS LIKE A FLAT SPOT ON THE TIRE. I EVEN PAID FOR EXTRA WARRANTY AND STILL DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE TIRE. VERY CONCERNED FOR SAFETY BASED ON POSTS OF BLOW-OUTS, ETC. IT'S AMAZING THAT TRUCK TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOR THE SAME REASONS, BUT NOT CAR TIRES. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES BENZ E300. WHILE PARKED, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS OVERHEATING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, CAUSING THE CIRCUIT BOARD AND WIRES TO MELT. THE DRIVER SIDE HAD A BLACK HOLE DEVELOPING IN THE CIRCUIT BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS AND CIRCUIT BOARD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
MY E500 STARTED TO SMELL HORRIBLE AFTER ADDING FUEL, NOW MY VEHICLE SMELLS ALL THE TIME OF GAS THE FUMES ARE HORRIBLE. I AM CALLING MERCEDES IN THE MORNING, I THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE A RECALL ON THIS, DEFINITELY CAN'T BE SAFE. THE CAR SMELLS LIKE IT IS GOING TO BLOW UP THE FUMES ARE SO BAD. *TR
LEAKING FUEL SYSTEM RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL GASOLINE LEAKING FROM FUEL SENDER UNITS AND FUEL TANK COMPONENTS. FUEL LEAKS INTO BOTTOM COVER PAN AND ULTIMATELY TO THE GROUND WHEN CAPACITY OF COVER PAN IS EXCEEDED. *KB
HAD A SPRING PERCH FAILURE ON THE FRONT LEFT SIDE WHILE I WAS REVERSING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN THE MORNING. THE SPRING FELL ON THE GROUND AND THE BODY OF THE CAR RESTED ON THE WHEEL. MY LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE ROOT CAUSE AS RUST WHERE THE PERCH ATTACHES TO THE FRAME.
I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR ON A MAJOR STREET AND WENT OVER A SMALL POTHOLE. THIS RESULTED IN MAJOR FRACTURES ON BOTH OF THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEELS. ALL THE EQUIPMENT ON THIS CAR IS ORIGINAL FROM MERCEDES BENZ. THIS IS THE FIRST INCIDENT IN LATE 2010. RECENTLY, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 35 TO 40 MILES PER HOUR AND WENT OVER A SMALL POTHOLE ON THE STREET THAT IS ABOUT 6 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND LESS THAN 2 INCHES IN DEPTH, AND RESULTED IN ANOTHER WHEEL FAILURE. I UNDERSTAND THAT POTHOLE DAMAGE IS A NORMAL PART OF WEAR AND TEAR. BUT THIS IS A MAJOR STREET THAT HAS TRAFFIC COUNT OF 75,000+ CAR PER DAY. IF MY CAR IS THIS EASILY DAMAGED IN A PERIOD OF 1 YEAR, I CAN'T EVEN IMAGING HOW MANY CARS WOULD GET DAMAGED ON THIS STRETCH OF ROAD. THEREFORE, I BELIEVE WHEEL FAILURES SUCH AS THIS AT RELATIVELY AVERAGE SPEED AND SMALL POTHOLES, CAN'T JUST BE A RESULT OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I BELIEVE THIS IS EITHER DEFECTIVE DESIGN OR POOR PRODUCT QUALITY CONTROL. IF MY WHEELS GET DAMAGED AT THIS SPEED, I CAN'T IMAGE WHAT KIND OF DAMAGE OR SAFETY ISSUES IT WOULD CAUSE WHEN I'M TRAVELING ON FREEWAY AT HIGHER SPEED. *TR
STRONG FUEL SMELL AFTER FUELING THE CAR. VERY NOTICEABLE WHEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE. I REPORTED THIS TO THE REGIONAL MERCEDES BENZ REPRESENTATIVE AND THEY DENIED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE REPORTED OR RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. DUE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE, I DO NOT ALLOW MY WIFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANY LONGER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES-BENZ E350. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 1 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BUMPER BECAME CAUGHT ONTO THE CEMENT BARRIER. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REVERSE BUT TO NO AVAIL. SHE THEN LIFTED THE BUMPER TO RELEASE THE VEHICLE FROM THE CEMENT BARRIER. SHE STATED THERE WAS A FLAP THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE BUMPER THAT BECAME CAUGHT ONTO THE CEMENT BARRIER. THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE INTO THOSE TYPES OF PARKING SPACES. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ADVISED HER ALSO TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE INTO CERTAIN TYPES OF PARKING BARRIERS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
WE BOUGHT 2009 MB E-350 W/SPORT PACKAGE WHICH HAS AMG WHEELS ON IT. CAR HAS CURRENTLY 3K MILES ON IT. WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING, SUDDENLY WHEEL MATERIAL POP-OUT FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE BASE (18" WIDTH) AND CAUSE SUDDEN LOSS OF AIR. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO TIRE (LIKE HOLE, IMPACT ON THE AREA WHERE WHEEL DAMAGED). WE BELIEVE THAT WHEEL HAS MATERIAL/DESIGN DEFECT BECAUSE WHEEL NORMALLY VERY SOLID HARD TO POP-OUT LIKE THIS. EVEN DEALER OR NO-ONE HAS SEEN THIS KIND OF INCIDENT. MY WIFE IS PREGNANT AND SHE WAS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND NOW SHE IS SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO INCIDENT. WE BELIEVE THAT DUE TO SAFETY OF US AND FOR OTHERS WHO ARE USING MB W/AMG WHEELS NEEDS TO BE EXAMINE. IF REQUIRE, I CAN PROVIDE PICTURES OF THE WHEEL AND TIRE. *TR

THE SHIELD CAUSED THE BUMPER TO FRACTURE FROM THE VEHICLE WHENEVER IT BECAME LODGED ON AN OBJECT. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000.

THEY CHANGED A NEW FUEL PUMP IN CHARLESTON, SC. CONTINUED DRIVING ON 2) DEC.3,2009, AFTER 400+ MILES ON I-95 SOUTH AT 70MPH, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, CAR SUDDENLY STALLED AGAIN, MANAGED TO PULL TO SHOULDER. CAR TOWED TO BENZ DEALER IN MELBOURNE, FLORIDA. THEY CHANGED ANOTHER FUEL PUMP AND FILTER. NOW I AM DRIVING WITH MY FINGER CROSSED. *TR
DEAR OFFICER, FROM THE BEGINNING (2010 AUGUST, 0 MILEAGE, MB E320) THE CAR HAS A CHEMICAL SMELL. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT IT WILL GO AWAY. HOWEVER, IN FEW MONTHS IT BECAME THE MOST AWFUL CHEMICAL SMELL (IT IS NOT MOLD, DIESEL FUEL OR EXHAUST). THIS EXTREMELY PENETRATING CHEMICAL(S) IS/ARE COMING FROM CARPET. VENTING/AIR-RECIRCULATION INCREASES CHEMICAL CONCENTRATION IN THE COMPARTMENT TO EXTREME LEVELS. THE CHEMICAL(S) IS/ARE DEFINITIVELY TOXIC GIVE STRONG HEADACHE, DIZZINESS, CAUSE NAUSEA, VOMITING, LIGHT-HEADEDNESS, CAUSE AND ACTIVATE ASTHMA (PERSONAL COMPLAINS) AND OTHER PROBLEMS (GOOGLE SEARCH). DETERIORATION COMPONENTS OF SYNTHETIC ORGANIC COMPOUNDS ARE KNOWN INDUCERS OF CARCINOGENESIS. I WILL BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON HEALTH ISSUES. BASED ON GOOGLE SEARCH CHEMICALS IN THE CAR COMPARTMENT ARE COMMON PROBLEMS OF MERCEDES, VOLKSWAGEN AND BMW. THE DEALERSHIP REP AGREED WIT CHEMICAL SMELL. THEY OFFER CHEMICAL/DEODORIZER TREATMENT WHAT I AM HESITANT TO ACCEPT AS CHEMICAL ODOR REAPPEAR IN FEW WEEKS (GOOGLE SEARCH). ALSO MANY CHEMICAL DEODORIZER' ARE TOXIC (U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY AND THE CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION). BASED ON GOOGLE SEARCH THE SOUND PROOFING UNDER THE CARPET IS THE SOURCE AS IT DECOMPOSE IN THESE VEHICLES AND RELEASE THE TOXIC CHEMICAL. DEALERSHIP AGREES THE SOURCE OF CHEMICALS BUT THEY DO NOT AGREE TO CHANGE SOUND PROOFING (ALTHOUGH THEY ADMIT THIS COMMON PROBLEM IN MERCEDES). UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF MERCEDES BENZ E 350 4 MATIC 2009 MODEL BARELY 3 MONTHS OLD-JUMPED THE CURB WHILE PARKING AND HIT THE WALL 4 FT OVER THE CURB CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE MEDICAL OFFICE WALL AND THE RIGHT FRONT END OF THE CAR. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. REPORTED TO ALLSTATE CLAIMS, CAR REPAIRED AND INSPECTED BY BENZ DEALER. BOTH THE MB DEALER AND MB HEADQUARTER LETTER STATED THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE. ACCORDING TO MERCEDES BENZ THE CAR CHECKED OUT FINE. THEY SENT ME A LETTER STATING THAT AS WELL. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2009 MERCEDES E320 BLUETEC VEHICLE ON DECEMBER 10, 2008 WITH 18 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. JANUARY, 2009 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AND THE DEALER REPLACED AN OXYGEN SENSOR. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES. AT 5000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. THE DEALER INFORMS AFTER ANOTHER DIAGNOSIS THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE SOFTWARE AND A PATCH HAS NOT BEEN DEVELOPED FOR THE 2009 MODELS. AT THIS TIME THEY CAN DETERMINED WHEN A FIX WILL BE READY. THEY SAY THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
