TRUNK HAS OPENED 6 - 8 TIMES ON ITS OWN. IN JUST OVER 5,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP AND TWO DOCUMENTED ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE TRUNK OPENS ON ITS OWN IN NEARLY ANY COMBINATION OF; IN MOTION, STOPPED, IN GEAR, OUT OF GEAR, MODERATE SPEED (40-50 MPH), LOW SPEED (A CRAWL) COOL TEMPS., WARM TEMPS., TOP UP, TOP DOWN. I HAVE EVEN TRIED, WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, TO DELIBERATELY OPEN THE TRUNK WITH THE KEY FOB AND WITH THE DOOR MOUNTED RELEASE. IT DID NOT OPEN WHEN I TRIED TO REPLICATE AN UNINTENTIONAL OPENING. MOST RECENT INCIDENT, 10/24/2020- WHILE IN MY GARAGE, TEMPERATURE COOL ~ 65 DEGREES, KEY IN IGNITION ENGINE AND RUNNING FOR ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES, BOTH CAR DOORS CLOSED, PUTTING ON SEAT BELT, EMERGENCY BRAKE STILL ON, STILL IN PARK, HEARD THE TRUNK POP OPEN. CONFIRMED THE OPEN TRUNK IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR. THE EIGHT + MONTHS BETWEEN THIS OCCURRENCE AND THE LAST ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IS MISLEADING AS THE CAR'S BEEN DRIVEN LESS THAN 500 MILES BETWEEN THE LAST REPAIR AND WHEN THE TRUNK OPENED ON ITS OWN THIS TIME.
BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE CAR AND STATIC AND CRACKLING NOISE FROM THE SPEAKER SYSTEM. NOISE CONTINUED WITH ENGINE OFF. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MERCEDES BENZ DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE SOUND AMPLIFIER AND THE CENTER DASH SPEAKER WERE FOUND TO BE BURNT. THEY REPLACED THE SOUND AMP., FLASH & SCN CODE COMMAND UNIT, AND SATELLITE RADIO CONTROL UNIT

WEATHER WAS HOT AND HAD BEEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY FOR HOURS AT TIME OF INCIDENT. SPEAKERS STARTED POPPING WITH SOUND LIKE GUNFIRE. SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL FIRE WAS HAPPENING THEN SOME SMOKE SEEN. STOPPED CAR. STILL HEARD POPPING SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER CAR TURNED OFF AND EXITED CAR. MECHANIC WAS CALLED AND FOUND POPPING IN SPEAKERS AND ESPECIALLY REAR DECK BASS SPEAKERS. HE RECEIVED 2 SMALL 2ND DEGREE BURNS AFTER TOUCHING THEM WITH BACK OF HIS HAND. HE DISCONNECTED BASS SPEAKERS AND PROBLEM WAS MOSTLY SOLVED THOUGH SIMILAR BUT SINGLE POPS STILL PERIODICALLY CONTINUE ON/NEAR OTHER SPEAKERS IN CAR. WILL PROBABLY HAVE SAME FAILURE ISSUE ON REMAINING SPEAKERS IN NEAR FUTURE.
AFTER DRIVING FOR 1 HOUR, BACK SEAT SHELF SPEAKER MADE A LOUD POPPING AND HUMMING NOISE AND EMITTED A STRONG BURNING SMELL. TRUNK OPENED AND CONFIRMED SMOKE COMING FROM REAR AMPLIFIER, STRONG SMELL OF PLASTIC MELTING AND SPEAKERS WERE TOO HOT TO TOUCH. DISCONNECTED AMPLIFIER FROM BATTERY AND TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO CONFIRMED. DEALER RE-HOOKED AMPLIFIER TO BATTERY, CONFIRMED THAT AMPLIFIER WAS INDEED SMOKING AND SPEAKERS WOULD NEED REPLACING AS WELL. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 57,750 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTEE. LOCAL DEALER MAINTENANCE REPRESENTATIVE AGREED THAT A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE SHOULD NOT BE CATCHING FIRE BUT DEALER WOULD NOT COVER COST OF REPAIR.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 40MPH ON A CITY STREET, ALL WARNING LIGHTS SUDDENLY CAME ON AND THE MOTOR STALLED. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL STEERING, BRAKING AND SPEED CONTROL. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE REMOVED FROM THE ROAD BY A TOW TRUCK. IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS THE VEHICLE LOST ALL CONTROLS WHILE IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED IN PARK AND DASH WARNING OF "PRE-SAFE CONDITIONS, DO NOT SHIFT."
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM INSIDE THE CAR. MY SON PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT DOOR SPEAKER. WE FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL OF MERCEDES. WE BROUGHT IT TO RAY CATENA IN EDISON NJ EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND THEY STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED EVEN THOUGH THEY STATED A FAULTY AMPLIFIER AFTER TRYING TO REPLACE THE SPEAKER WHICH MELTED ON THEM AS WELL. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AS MY SON COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED BE SO HE WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME. THIS WAS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR REPAIR.

A MISSING BOLT THAT HOLDS THE EMISSIONS PORTIONS THAT ROUTS THE EMISSION FUMES OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT NOW HAD DAMAGE OF BURNED INSTALLATION, MELTED ELECTRICAL WIRING AND COMPONENTS AND THE FIRE WALL ALL HAVING TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER (MERCEDES-BENZ OF WEST HOUSTON 1025 HIGHWAY 6 N, HOUSTON, TX 77079 (281) 492-5800) HAVE THE VEHICLE AND WERE PERFORMING THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,579.

THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO RELEASE FROM THE REVERSE POSITION INTO DRIVE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR DOWN 880 UNTIL I SUDDENLY HEARD A CRACKLINGS NOISE COMING FROM THE BACK OF MY CAR. I HAD JUST GOTTEN THE CAR SERVICED A WEEK BEFORE SO THIS WAS VERY UNPLEASANT AND SURPRISING. I ENDED UP TURNING BACK AND PARKING MY CAR AT HOME. THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALER I STILL HEARD THE NOISE AND THERE WAS A WEIRD BURNING SMELL. THE NOISE CONTINUED EVEN AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE RIGHT PASSENGER SPEAKER HAD MELTED AND THEY ALSO CHANGED MY AMP. IN MY DEALER NOTES, IT STATES THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES YET IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS NO RECALL. *TR

ELECTRIC STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. ALMOST CRASHED, WIFE'S CAR, I WAS DRIVING. SHE WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO SAFELY GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD.. STEERING FAILURE ALERT CAME ON DASH. WEEKEND, PROBLEM NOT DIAGNOSED YET. A WEB SITE SHOWS THAT THERE WAS A FACTORY RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM WITH CARS BUILT BETWEEN AUG. 2013 TO AUG. 2015. BAD ELECTRIC MOTORS. CAR HAS 32,000 MILES
'STEERING WHEEL MALFUNCTION' DISPLAY WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL COULDN'T BE TURNED. I COULD EITHER GO STRAIGHT OR REVERSE, BUT COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS DRIVING OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD, ALL OF THE SUDDEN, THE DISPLAY POPPED UP, BEFORE I WAS GOING DOWN THE CURVY HILL. THIS IS DANGEROUS THAT IT CAN JUST HAPPEN WHILE YOU DRIVE. IT CAN TAKE SOMEONE'S LIFE IF DRIVE OUT ON THE FREEWAY AT A HIGH SPEED AND THE STEERING WHEEL CANNOT BE TURNED. IT IS ALSO DANGEROUS FOR ME TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD BECAUSE I COULDN'T TURN LEFT OR RIGHT TO EVEN PARK THE CAR SAFELY. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE DISPLAY POPPED UP AND THE STEERING WHEEL MALFUNCTION OCCURRED BEFORE I DRIVE DOWN THE CURVY HILL TO GET ON THE FREEWAY. HAD THIS HAPPENED WHEN I GOT ON THE CURVY HILL OR THE FREEWAY, A POTENTIAL DEATH ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. *TR
MY 2014 MERCEDES-BENZ E350S WAGON HAS KNOWN DEFECTIVE WOOD TRIM THAT HAS FADED WITHIN 5 YEARS AND HAS BECAME CLOUDY, AND DETERIORATED OVER TIME DUE TO INADEQUATE UV RAY PROTECTION. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL LAW SUITES FOR MODELS 2009 TO 2016. THE DEALER AND MERCEDES-BENZ USA HEADQUARTERS TOLD ME THAT THAT THE WOOD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND THE DEALERS HAVE BEEN TOLD TO SELL CARS AND DON'T MENTION THAT THE WOOD WOULD FADE OVER TIME.
SEAT TOOR COST 850 TO GET REPAIRED 1500 FOR A KEY PLUS PROGRAMMING SO REFICULAS
The contact owns a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated that the parking brake release failed to release as needed. The failure recurred several times however, the contact could not recall how the parking brake was released. On one occasion AAA released the parking brake however, the contact was unsure how the AAA mechanic was able to release the parking brake. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the parking brake, and the brake cable had failed to disengage as designed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but had not yet responded. The approximate failure mileage was 36,400.
The contact owns a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle was shaking abnormally. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the transfer case had failed. The vehicle was also taken to the dealer, and it was assumed that the failure might be related to the transmission; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
2ND RIM TO CRACK UNDER NORMAL USE [IN FL, NOT THE NORTH EAST WITH POTHOLES] MERCEDES MECHANIC TOLD US THAT THEY NEVER SHOULD HAVE MOUNTED LOW PROFILE TIRES ON THIS RIM. THE TIRES DO NOT OFFER ENOUGH PROTECTION FOR THE RIM FROM NORMAL DRIVING HAZARDS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AS A CRACKED RIM CAUSES FLATS, AT HIGH SPEED THAT CAN BE DEADLY
I RECEIVED AIRBAG RECALL NOTICE ONE YEAR AGO IN FEBRUARY 2019 AND AFTER CALLING THE MERCEDES BENZ DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES, HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE NEW PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MB DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE SITUATION.

The heater temperature is not consistent and keeps fluctuating. When I set the temperature to 80°F, it initially blows hot air, but after about 10 seconds, it starts blowing colder air. To get consistently hot air, I have to set the temperature to the maximum.
POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION (CANNOT TURN BUT THE POWER WAS STILL ON. THE SCREEN IN FRONT OF DRIVER'S SEAT ALSO SHOWED THE MESSAGE.) SUDDENLY HAPPENED IN A SECOND WHEN I DROVE IN A LOW SPEED (AROUND 25-30). I WAS VERY VERY LUCKY ENOUGH TO SLIDE MY CAR SLOWLY BY THE CURB SINCE THE TRAFFIC WAS NOT HEAVY. I GOT MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHICH I JUST FINISHED MY YEARLY MAINTENANCE 10 DAYS AGO. THEY FOUND MY CAR'S COMPUTER HAD A BUG. THEY RE-PROGRAMMED MY CAR'S COMPUTER IN THE NEXT DAY. THE PROBLEM HAS SOLVED SO FAR. THIS HAD HAPPENED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. I GOOGLED TO FIND THIS PROBLEM SEEMS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES BEFORE BUT NO RECALL. I DID THE MAINTENANCE WITH THE DEALER EVERY YEAR. DUE TO THE DEFECT AND DEALER'S NEGLIGENCE, MY LIFE HAD SERIOUSLY THREATENED BY THIS CRITICAL SITUATION. I WOULD URGE YOU TO INVESTIGATE THE SEVERITY FOR THIS CASE TO AVOID OTHER ACCIDENTS HAPPENING.

THE CONTACT DROVE TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF PLEASANTON (5885 OWENS DR, PLEASANTON, CA 94588, (925) 463-2525) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SPEAKER WAS MELTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
MERCEDES DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THE REAR MAIN SEAL OF MY AUTOMOBILE IS LEAKING AND COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY VIOLATION. THEY HAVE TO PULL THE ENGINE TO CORRECT IT. THIS LEAKAGE COULD CAUSE A FIRE CAUSING LOSS OF LIFE. I WAS INFORMED THE DEALER WOULD REPAIR THIS FOR ANYONE DRIVING A 2014 DIESEL AUTO.
