TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES S550. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT WHILE IDLE IN TRAFFIC IF HE REMOVED HIS FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL OR ACCELERATOR PEDAL IT WOULD SURGE FORWARD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVERY TIME HE DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS IDLE IN TRAFFIC. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, HE WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO DRIVE IN SECOND GEAR RATHER THAN FIRST. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,366 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,895. MY NAME IS [XXX], AND I AM A RESIDENT OF QUEENS, NY. I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 07 MERCEDES BENZ S550 IN JULY OF 2009 FROM THE CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED DEALERSHIP WITH CPO WARRANTY. I HAD IT FINANCED WITH MERCEDES BENZ FINANCIAL. THE CAR HAD 34,000 MILES ON IT INITIALLY. OVER THE TIME SPAN IN WHICH I USED THE CAR, I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR MANY X'S TO THE SHOP. IN APRIL 10 THE TRANS. FAILED, AND IN MAY 2010 THE SUSP (ACTIVE BODY CONTROL/ ABC) SYSTEM FAILED. THESE WERE THE MAJOR ITEMS THAT REQ.'D WORK, BESIDES THAT THERE WERE MANY OTHER PROBLEMS THAT OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY AND AS WELL AS AFTERWARDS, THAT REQUIRED GETTING SERVICE DONE ON THE CAR. IF YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE CAR'S MAINTENANCE HISTORY, YOU WILL SEE A LARGE AMOUNT OF WORK DONE, AND IT SHOULD NOT BE LIKE THAT FOR SUCH A HIGH CLASS AND EXPENSIVE CAR. WELL I WAS DRIVING THE CAR, AND HAD LIL PROB HERE AND THERE. BUT I HAD NO IDEA THAT WAS THE LEAST OF MY PROB. ON JUNE 12, 2010, I HAD TAKEN THE CAR OUT FOR A WORK, AND WAS DRIVING IN HILLSIDE AVE IN NY. MY AIR CONDITIONING IN THE CAR WAS RUNNING, EXCEPT FOR THE CENTRAL FAN, AND WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT OFF, IT JUST CONTINUED TO RUN. I WAS JUST DRIVING ALONG, WHEN I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING, AND DECIDED TO PULL OVER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS OK. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG UNDER THE HOOD, SO I GOT BACK IN THE CAR, AND WAS ABOUT TO PULL OUT WHEN I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE CENTRAL VENTS ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR WAS STILL OFF, BUT THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE CAR BEGAN WORKING BY THEMSELVES. 1 BY 1, THE LIGHTS, THE WIPERS, THE WINDSHIELD CLEANING SOAP, THE DISPLAY, STARTED TO COME ON. I HAD JUST GOTTEN OUT OF THE CAR, WHEN IT LOCKED AND THE FLAMES ERUPTED. IN A MATTER OF MINUTES THE CAR WENT UP IN FLAMES AND WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPT. AND THEY PUT THE FIRE OUT. THEN I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND INFORMED THEM OF WHAT HAD. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).*TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES BENZ E350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, A FUEL ODOR EMITTED FROM THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 4/23/13 *CN UPDATED 05/22/2013 *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES BENZ S550. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED MOMENTARILY BEFORE RESTARTING INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ABOVE 5 MPH, ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE SYSTEM WAS RESET, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
IN REPEATED INCIDENTS, DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR IN MY 2007 MERCEDES BENZ S600 HAD NO APPRECIABLE EFFECT. I WAS, FOR EXAMPLE, LEFT ADRIFT IN HEAVY FREEWAY TRAFFIC. MERCEDES BENZ'S LARGEST NORTHERN CALIFORNIA DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR MONTHS, EVEN AFTER ADVISING ME THAT THEY WERE "CONFIDENT" THAT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED. I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHETHER THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX THE, AND THE FACT THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THEIR CAUSE GIVES RISE TO SUBSTANTIAL CONCERN THAT THE PROBLEM EXISTS IN OTHER S CLASS VEHICLES. THESE PROBLEMS RECURRED FOR MONTHS. THE FACT THAT NO ONE WAS KILLED OR INJURED IS JUST BLIND LUCK. ULTIMATELY MERCEDES BENZ REPURCHASED THE CAR AS A LEMON. I HAVE COPIES OF CORRESPONDENCE TO MERCEDES, NONE OF WHICH IT RESPONDED TO IN WRITING. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES S550. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH HE HEARD A RATTLING NOISE FROM THE FRONT-END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, AND A REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THE THERE WAS NO RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000. WITHOUT ANY APPARENT REASON THE ENGINE STALLED, TRANSMISSION APPEAR NOT TO BE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. CAR RETURN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AFTER BEING PARKED FOR 2 OR 3 HOURS. TODAY 4/20/2009 CAR APPEAR TO BE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM, PLEASE NOTICE THAT DASHBOARD INDICATOR IS ALERTING OF ANY MALFUNCTIONING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES-BENZ S550. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND TRYING TO PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO A DIFFERENT GEAR, IT WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO SHIFT AFTER A FEW MOMENTS OF WAITING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS SINCE 2008. HE ALSO STATED THAT WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND SHIFTING INTO FIRST GEAR, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SURGE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 22,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES BENZ S550. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AND BACKWARDS AND THEN STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. AS OF DECEMBER 20, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 32,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES BENZ S600. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM FAILED WITHOUT WARNING FOR THE SEATS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD A RATTLING NOISE WHILE DRIVING, WHICH CAME FROM THE SEAT AND ARM REST. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PLASTIC IN THE ARM REST. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 1,100.
2007 MERCEDES-BENZ S550V SEAT BELTS KEEP LOCKING AND CAN NOT BE USED. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND RADIO. *NJ THE PASSENGER SEATBELT WOULD LOCK AND COULD NOT BE USED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN PARK, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD MOVE ALL THE TIME NO MATTER IF IT WAS SUNNY OR RAINING. THE DOORS WOULD NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. AFTER THE RADIO WAS TURNED OFF, STATIC NOISE WAS HEARD. THE STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES BENZ S350. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH ONTO AN EXIT RAMP, THE ENGINE DECREASED IN POWER AND HESITATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME FAILURES, BUT THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE ENGINE WAS RECODED. RECENTLY, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,312.
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 MERCEDES BENZ E-350 AND STATED THAT THE HANDS FREE MOTOR FUNCTION DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE CONTACT CAN'T RECEIVE INCOMING CALLS BY PRESSING ON THE RECEIVER OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ,AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THE FAILURE. SUDDEN ESP FAILURE ON 2007 MERCEDES E 350 4 MATIC ON SEPT 12, 2006 WHICH WAS PURCHASED ON AUG 03, 2006. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN HBL MERCEDES TYSONS CORNER, VIENNA VA FOR REPAIR SINCE SEPT 13, 2006. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIR 23 CONSECUTIVE DAYS AS OF TODAY (OCT 05, 2006) MAY BE OTHER OWNERS HAVE TO BE AWARE OF PROBLEMS AND INABILITY OF MERCEDES TO REPAIR TO DATE....*JB
