The contact stated while parking the vehicle he noticed that the "power steering malfunction" light was illuminated and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that he waited and then restarted the vehicle and the vehicle regained power steering functionality. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed however, the mechanic could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V899000 (Steering). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
