TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MARINER. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CONWAY FORD (2393 US-501, CONWAY, SC 29526) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *TT CONTACT STATES THAT WHEN VEHICLE WAS LEFT OVER NIGHT IN A PARKING GARAGE THE STEERING WAS COMPLETELY OUT UPON STARTING VEHICLE. THE ONLY WAY STEERING WOULD WORK IS WITH THE HELP WITH ANOTHER PERSON TURNING THE WHEEL. CONTACT STATES IGNITION STOPPED WORKING AS WELL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TT
I HAVE CHECKED IT ONLINE AND SAW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR SERIES. BUT I NEVER GOT AND UPDATE, OR MAIL FROM FORD, MERCURY FOR THE RECALL. NOW MY CAR HAS THE ISSUE AND CANT EVEN MOVE IT. IT IS FORD RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE THE CAR RIGHT. THIS IS NOT CAUSED BECAUSE OF DRIVER. I CALL FORD SERVICES AND THEY DONT EVEN WANT TO FIX IT FOR THE CAR WHICH HAS A RECALL
WHILE DRIVING, POWER STEERING FAILED DURING INTERSECTION TURN. NO ACCIDENT, JUST WRESTLED STEERING WHEEL THROUGH PROBLEM. MY MECHANIC SAID FAILURE WAS "STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR". UPON RESEARCH, I FOUND THIS SEEMS TO BE PART OF A RECALL THAT I WAS NOT AWARE OF (REF 14V284000 ISSUED 5/29/2014 -- ALSO REF FORD 14S05). CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR VERIFICATION. COULD NOT GET VERIFICATION OF PAST QUALIFICATION FOR MY VIN, JUST THAT "NONE OPEN NOW". SAID FOR RECALL IN QUESTION, THAT FORD MANAGEMENT HAD SINCE CLOSED THAT RECALL AS COMPLETE. HOW CAN I VERIFY THAT MY VIN ORIGINALLY PART OF THAT RECALL? AND IF SO, IS THERE NO RELIEF AVAILABLE? EXPENSIVE REPAIR -- $500+.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY YESTERDAY EVENING WHEN MY MARINER DISPLAYED THE MESSAGE 'POWER ASSIST SYSTEM FAULT'. I DID NOT NOTICE AN IMMEDIATE ISSUE WITH THE STEERING BUT CAREFULLY LIMPED IT HOME. THIS MORNING I CALLED MY MECHANIC ABOUT IT. HE HAD FORMERLY WORKED FOR FORD AND WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE ISSUE. WE SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. HOWEVER AS I BACKED THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE GARAGE, THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED COMPLETELY, MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
IN MARCH 2018, I NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE WHEN COMING TO A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT AND MAKE A GRINDING SOUND. IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS EVERY TIME FOR A COUPLE WEEKS. THEN TOWARD MID MARCH, I WAS BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY AND THE POWER STEERING TOTALLY WENT OUT.IT STATED ON PANEL "POWER STEERING DEFAULT ASSIST." IT TOOK EXTREME EFFORT TO STEER THE WHEEL TO THE SIDE AS THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY RIGID. BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVE, IT HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN TO MOVE CAR IN APARTMENT PARKING LOT. I GOT THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE 2017 FROM A CAR DEALER WITH NO WARRANTY. FORD SAYS THIS VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL FOR TORQUE PROBLEM WITH POWER STEERING FAILURE. AS THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND A SAFETY HAZARD, I WANT THIS VEHICLE VIN ADDED TO RECALL LIST. IF I DRIVE IT ON OPEN ROAD, IT WILL SURELY CAUSE INJURY TO MY FAMILY. I CAN'T EVEN MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL.
WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH THE POWER STEERING FOR MY 2008 MERCURY MARINER FAILED. IT BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE, POSING A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK. UPON INSPECTION, IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR HAS FAILED. UNFORTUNATELY, WHILE A SYSTEM IS CLEARLY NOT FUNCTIONING, THERE ARE NO TROUBLE CODES DISPLAYED AT THIS TIME. I SEE THAT THERE IS AN EXSISTING SAFETY RECALL IN PLACE FOR THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM HOWEVER IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE VIN FOR MY VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO REYNOLDS FORD OF NORMAN (825 N INTERSTATE DR, NORMAN, OK 73069) WHERE THE SOFTWARE FOR THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS UPDATED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY WHILE APPROACHING A STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT JOE COOPER FORD OF EDMONTON (600 W MEMORIAL RD, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73114, (405) 475-9000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED IN 2014, AND WOULD NOT BE PERFORMED A SECOND TIME. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES BACK AND FORTH ON ITS OWN, WITHOUT ANY DRIVER INPUT, WHILE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND RUNNING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MARINER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKE PEDAL REQUIRED ADDITIONAL BRAKE TRAVEL TIME TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
TAKATA RECALL MY ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND IF I DRIVE IT WITH THESE LIGHTS ON I SMELL MY BREAK PADS BURNING. I TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT AND IT WOULD COST ME UPWARDS OF $5,885.00 TO REPLACE AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SEARCHING THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND FORD ESCAPES. (WHICH IS BASICALLY THE SAME VEHICLE. IF THERE ARE THIS MANY COMPLAINTS MAYBE ITS WORTH LOOKING INTO ON DOTS PART. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR SURE CONSIDERING MY BRAKES GO TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. I CAN TURN MY SUV OFF AND REMOVE THE KEY AND THEN PUT THE KEY BACK IN AND START IT AGAIN UNTIL THE LIGHTS GO OFF AND I DON'T HAVE AN ISSUE. BUT WHEN I FIRST GET IN THE VEHICLE AND START IT THE LIGHTS DO IN FACT COME ON. PLEASE HELP ALL CONSUMERS WITH THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED ALREADY ON FORD/MERCURY'S HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT.
A MESSAGE SAYING 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' CAME ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE VERY NOTICEABLY, ALMOST AS IF THE POWER STEERING WAS ABOUT TO QUIT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP IN 2014 FOR RECALL 14S05 AND THE DEALERSHIP SUPPOSEDLY DID THEIR SOFTWARE UPDATE. NOW THEY SAY IT IS DUE TO THE POWER STEERING TORQUE SENSOR NEEDING REPLACING WHICH IS THE EXACT RECALL 14S05. THEY ARE NOT HONORING IT BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT IN PREVIOUSLY EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED, ONLY BANDAGED SO THEY CAN CHARGE ME $650 LATER ON. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT THEY ARE KNOWINGLY FORCING PEOPLE TO PAY FOR. THERE IS A FACEBOOK POST REGARDING THIS VERY THING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST COLUMN FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED YET. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING) DUE TO THE MILEAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 144,000.
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN PARKED OR DRIVING. STEERING WHEEL ASSIST FAULT LIGHT COMES ON.
MY VEHICLE WAS COVERED UNDER RECALL 14S05 AND SAID RECALL WORK WAS DONE IN 2014 IN VA UNDER THE PREVIOUS OWNER, FORD DOES NOT HAVE RECORD OF WHAT "STEP" OR PART OF THE RECALL WAS DONE, THERE ARE 3 PARTS. LESS THAN 4 YEARS, THE RECALLED PART, THE TORQUE SENSOR IN THE POWER STEERING ASSIST HAS FAULTED, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT WASN'T REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL. SINCE IT'S BEEN MORE THAN 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO REPLACE THE SAID RECALLED PART THAT WAS ORIGINALLY COVERED. THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE WHEN THE ASSIST FAULTED CAUSING STEERING TO BE VERY DIFFICULT AND HAD I BEEN DRIVING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY BEEN ACCIDENT CAUSING. I FEEL THAT THE RECALL WORK SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO REPLACING THE PART SINCE IT WASN'T DONE ORIGINALLY UNDER THE RECALL OR WAS AGAIN REPLACED WITH A FAULTY SENSOR TO FAULT AGAIN WITHIN LESS THAN 4 YEARS

MY 2008 MERCURY MARINER POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. I TURNED IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT TWO DIFFERENT PLACES. BOTH PLACES STATED THAT IT SHOULD BE A RECALL PROBLEM. AFTER DOING FURTHER RESEARCH THE 2008 MERCURY MARINER DOES HAVE A RECALL ON IT FOR THE POWER STEERING ISSUE, HOWEVER MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT BEING WARRANTED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER ISSUE, WHICH POSSIBLY COULD'VE CAUSED A HARMFUL SITUATION TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY OR OTHERS ON THE ROAD DRIVING. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HARMED WHILE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT, BUT THAT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT MY 2008 MERCURY MARINER SHOULD NOT BE COVERED. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS IT IS A COSTLY INCONVENIENCE THAT 100% SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER RECALL AS STATED ONLINE THAT THESE VEHICLES ALL HAVE THE SAME POWER STEERING ISSUE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,637.
LOST POWER STEERING AS I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT. SAW THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET MY VEHICLE LOOKED AT BUT THEY ARE BOOKED 2 WEEKS FULL. ASKED ABOUT RECALL 14S05 BUT THEY TOLD ME MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY GAVE ME THE SAME INFORMATION. CAN NOT DRIVE VEHICLE AS IT IS TOO DANGEROUS IN WINTER. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON WITH THE 2008 MERCURY MARINER AND ESPECIALLY ONES THAT WERE NOT PART OF THE RECALL FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING. WITHIN 48HRS I LOST POWER STEERING AND WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO MY HOME BECAUSE IT WENT OUT WHILE PICKING UP MY KIDS FROM SCHOOL. A MECHANIC GAVE ME THE DIAGNOSIS OF ERROR B2278. THE SAME CODE IDENTIFIED FOR RECALL 14S05 IN REPLACING THE TORQUE SENSOR. FORD DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE PROPERLY WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR THE RECALL. A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS DONE INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE FAULTY SENSOR, WHICH FORD IDENTIFIED AS THE SOURCE OF FAILED STEERING ASSISTANCE. I WAS WITHOUT A CAR FOR 2 WEEKS BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. FORD DID NOT HONOR THE RECALL TO REPLACE THE SENSOR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE SENSOR WAS NOT REPLACED, BUT WAS RESET BY THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE TORQUE SENSOR WAS RESET AND THERE WAS NO HISTORY OF A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 137,000.
LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST WHILE DRIVING.
FRONT MAIN SEAL IS LEAKING VEHICAL IS DRIPPING OIL ON MUFFLER WHEN SITTING STILL
POWER BRAKE BOOSTER BRAKE SYSTEM LOCK ON HIGHWAY. POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING NO WARNING . ALMOST HAD ACCIDENT ON SNOW DUE TO BAD. TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON HIGHWAY. UNABLE TO START CAR IGNITION SWITCH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BARBER FORD IN HOLLAND, MI (640 E 8TH). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
POWER STEERING WAS LOST MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. WHILE DRIVING AROUND A TURN THE POWER STEERING DROPPED OUT COMPLETELY. WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE BUT DEALER SAID MY SPECIFIC CAR WAS NOT COVERED. FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE SINCE IT IS EXACT PROBLEM DESCRIBED.
THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING HAS NOT RETURNED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN OUT OF A DRIVEWAY WHEN I SUDDENLY DID NOT HAVE ANY POWER STEERING. I WAS 3/4 OF THE WAY ACROSS THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I WAS ALMOST IN THE DITCH, BUT I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND WITH EXTREME FORCE MANAGED TO TURN THE WHEEL. THANK GOD NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE APPROACHING, AS THIS IS A BLIND SPOT THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON INFORMING ME THAT THIS WAS A POWER STEERING ASSIST DEFAULT. I LOOKED IT UP ON THE INTERNET TO SEE WHAT HAD TO BE BOUGHT TO FIX IT AND IT HAD INFORMATION THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM SOMEWHERE AROUND 2014 OR 2015. I CONTACTED FORD MOTORS AND THEY SAID NO CARS WITH MY VIN # HAD BEEN RECALLED .

AFTER STOPPING AT RED LIGHT, MAKING LEFT TURN ON GREEN, HALF WAY THRU THE TURN STEERING QUIT WORKING FOR COUPLE SECONDS, THEN STARTED WORKING AGAIN, ALMOST STRIKING ANOTHER CAR, WHO WAS TURNING ALSO IN THE RIGHT LANE, VERY UNSAFE

THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE OFF AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WENT TO AN UNKNOWN FORD DEALER IN CHULA VISTA, CA 91910 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL; THEREFORE, SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY A FEE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
IN TOWN, WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN, LOSING POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKE CONTROL.
I HAVE 2008 MERCURY MARNIER 1ST GEAR STARTS OFF FINE 2ND GEAR WON'T SHIFT TILL IT GETS TO 3750 RPM THEN SHIFTS 3RD FINE NOT IN 4TH IT'S GIVING ME CODES P0732 AND P0734
MY POWER STEERING WAS REPROGRAMMED UNDER RECALL 14S05 BACK IN 2015. BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE ANY ACTIVE CODES IN MY SYSTEM FORWARD REPROGRAMMED THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. MY VEHICLE NOW IS SHOWING TROUBLE CODE B2278. THE ORIGINAL CODE THAT TRIGGERED A RECALL. MY POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT I TORE A MUSCLE IN MY SIDE TRYING TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS WORKED AND CLOSED. HOWEVER I DECIDED TO CONTACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IN MICHIGAN TO SEE IF THEY COULD RE OPEN MY RECALL. I WAS INFORMED BY A REPRESENTATIVE BY THE NAME OF MICKEY THAT IT WAS BASICALLY MY RESPONSIBILITY NOW AND NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I JUST WANT MY VEHICLE REPAIRED UNDER RECALL.
I WAS DOING 45 MILES AN HOUR ON PULASKI HIGHWAY WHEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR BUT WHEN I TALKED TO THE CAR DEALER THEY KEEP SAYING THEY WORRYING ABOUT GETTING THEIR CAR PAYMENT SO HOW DO I GET THIS FIXED IT WAS ON THE RECALL LIST BUT THEY SAID SINCE IT WASN'T MADE IN KANSAS IT DON'T COVER HERE I'VE BEEN TAKING IT TO DIFFERENT SHOPS AND EVERYBODY TALKING ABOUT LIKE A THOUSAND TO $2,000 I'VE BEEN PUTTING MONEY IN THIS FRONT END FOR THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS FIRST IT WAS THE TO U-JOINT TO CONNECT THE POWER STEERING THEN IT WAS THE CALIPERS OVERHEATING NOW IS NO STEERING AT ALL

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO CALL NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE OPERATING THE CAR, POSING A DANGER. TRANSMISSION LURCHES ON UPSHIFT BETWEEN 1 - 2 GEAR WHILE ACCELERATING. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL NOT CHARGE BATTERY AND COMPLETELY FAILS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION ON THE HIGHWAY, POSING A DANGER. VEHICLE MAY OR MAY NOT RESTART IMMEDIATELY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 129,100.
THE THROTTLE IS HELD OPEN WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL IS EMPLOYED BUT REMAINS OPEN WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL IS TURNED OFF BOTH BY USING THE OFF BUTTON AND BRAKE APPLICATION. THIS HAPPENS AT 75-80 MPH ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS IN AZ AND UT. THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER IS INEFFECTIVE WITH NO INTAKE VACUUM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.
MY VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING FAILED DUE TO A DEFUNCT TORQUE SENSOR WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY THE PREVIOUS RECALL. THE POWER STEERING BECAME DEFECTIVE WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, AND COMPLETELY FAILED A SHORT TIME THEREAFTER WHILE STOPPED. AFTER I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PREVIOUS RECALL IN 2014, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A FORD SERVICE SHOP; HOWEVER, FORD APPARENTLY DID NOT FIX THE UNDERLYING ISSUE IN MY VEHICLE (MALFUNCTIONED TORQUE SENSOR). THERE WAS NO WARNING OR NOTICE GIVEN THAT THIS ISSUE MAY ARISE IN THE FUTURE AFTER HAVING THE ALLEGED RECALL "FIXED". I ALSO WAS GIVEN NO NOTICE AT ANY TIME THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS GOING TO FAIL COMPLETELY.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM MESSAGE AND BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON VEHICLE BRAKING BECOMES VERY HARD TO STOP. AFTER STOPPING VEHICLE AND TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES BRAKE WARNING LIGHT GOES OFF AND VEHICLE DRIVES NORMALLY FOR A FEW DAYS THAN PROBLEM COMES BACK. WHILE AT A LIGHT ONE DAY BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON DROVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE AND NO BRAKES AT ALL WAS ABLE TO TURN IN TO A PARKING LOT AND APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKES TO STOP. LEFT VEHICLE OVER NIGHT THE NEXT DAY TURNED VEHICLE ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIME AND BRAKES BEGAN TO WORK. MADE APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER WHO ADVISED IT WILL BE THREE WEEKS TO GET IT IN. AFTER THREE WEEKS TO TAKE VEHICLE IN A WEEK LATER WAS ADVISED ABS HCU WAS PROBABLY BAD. COST FOR NEW ABS HCU MODULE $4700 FOR THE PART ALONE. PICKED UP VEHICLE WITHOUT HAVING IT FIXED AND DROVE LOCALLY FOR A FEW WEEKS WITH BRAKE IN "MANUAL MODE" UNTIL I TRIED TO STOP FOR A YELLOW LIGHT IN THE RAIN AND SLID THROUGH THE INTERSECTION SINCE ONLY THE BACK BRAKES WORKS IN MANUAL MODE. LATER ORDERED A REFURBISHED ABS HCU MODULE COST $1400.00, THE FORD DEALER IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN INSTALL UNIT SINCE THE MODULE HAS TO BE PROGRAMED TO THE VEHICLE SOFTWARE. TOOK TWO WEEKS TO GET AN APPOINTMENT DEALER HAD VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER SIX WEEKS TRYING TO PROGRAM AND BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM. DEALER FINALLY INSTALLED THE OTHER ABS HCU UNIT THAT WAS SENT TO ME WHEN I ADVISED THE REFURBISHING COMPANY THAT THE DEALER WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FIRST ONE. DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY INSTALLED THE REPLACEMENT ABS HCU AND REPLACED THE BRAKE LINES, AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO WORK LABOR COST $1900.00. I'M GLAD TO BE HERE TO REPORT THIS SAFETY ISSUE THE NEXT PERSON WOULD PROBABLY NOT BE SO LUCKY.
SENSOR IN STERING WHEEL IS BAD,ALSO JERKS WHEN IT SHIFTS
WHILE DRIVING WENT TO PULL OUT FROM RED LIGHT AND CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. FINALLY PUMPED GAS PEDAL AND MANAGED TO GET CAR TO GO FORWARD. CONTINUED TO DO THIS UNTIL WOULD NOT GO FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. WAS ABLE TO GET TO EMPTY PARKING LOT SO ROLL BACK COULD PICK ME UP. HAD TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN REPLACED BEFORE. TRUCK ONLY HAS 95,724 MILES ON IT AND I BOUGHT IT USED. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY RECALLS HAD BEEN ISSUED ON THIS VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON A HIGHWAY, THE WARNING LIGHT CHIMES AND DISPLAYS TO "SAFELY STOP VEHICLE". THE CAR NO LONGER ACCELERATES AND SLOWS TO A STOP EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF TO. I NORMALLY JUST HIT MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULL TO A STOP, WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTART THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPEN ONCE A MONTH AND SOMETIMES TWICE OR THREE TIMES IN A ROW. IF THE HYBRID ELECTRONICS SYSTEM OVERHEATS, IT MAY SHUT DOWN THE POWERTRAIN, RESULTING IN A STALL-LIKE CONDITION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM #14S19. CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID MY VEHICLE ISN'T A PART OF IT EVEN THOUGH IT CLEARLY WAS BUILT IN THE SAME TIME AND HAS THE EXACT ISSUE. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 145,000.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. MY STEERING COLUMN WOULD SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARKED, STOPPED AT A LIGHT, AND WHILE DRIVING. AFTER I GOT AN ALIGNMENT, THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED.

IN ADDITION, THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
