TWICE IN TWO DAYS WHILE SPEEDING UP TO GET ON HIGHWAY MY MARINER LOOSES COMPLETE POWER AND THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. LUCKY FOR ME IT WAS JUST BEFORE I WAS TURNING ON TO MERGE. SECONDS LATER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, DUE TO THE SUDDEN STOP. I HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND START IT BACK UP IN ORDER TO GET GOING AGAIN. AFTER READING #PE13003 HAS BEEN FILE FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH SAME MAKE AND MODEL. SOMEONE BETTER REACT BEFORE SOMEONE LOOSES A LIFE. THIS IS HORRIBLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MARINER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER TRAIN AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 62,307.
I SUFFERED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE WHILE DRIVING IN A HIGHWAY, I COULD NOT STEER THE WHEEL AND THE ENGINE STOP WORKING. I WROTE BEFORE BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN ANSWER. WHAT CAN I DO? THANK YOU *TR
POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE PSCM) AND CLUSTER MODULE WENT OUT, STEERING IS NOT SAFE, VERY HARD TO STEER
WHEN ACCELERATING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, MY VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION POWER AND THE POWER BRAKES FAILED. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWLY MOVED TO A SIDE STREET, BACKING-UP TRAFFIC ON THE BUSY STREET. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACING. THE SERVICE COST ME $503 PLUS TAX. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING AT 65, WRENCH POWERTRAIN LIGHT CAME ON. ABLE TO GET TO SIDE OF ROAD. CALLED FORD ROADSIDE, WRECKER TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. FOUND FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. SCARY SITUATION. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 70 WHEN I LOST ALL POWER TO ACCELERATE. I NOTED THE WRENCH SYMBOL ALSO HAD JUST CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND TURN MY CAR OFF. BEFORE IT TURNED OFF THE CAR SHOOK QUITE A BIT. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR ABOUT A MINUTE RE-STARTED AND NOTED THE WRENCH WAS GONE AND I COULD ACCELERATE. LATER THAT DAY IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN. CAR IS IN SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME IT IS A BAD THROTTLE BODY. *TR
WAS AT STOP LIGHT COMPLETELY STOPPED. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND MY CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND ANOTHER LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO MOVE THE CAR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I POWERED MY CAR DOWN AND RESTARTED IT, AT THIS TIME THE CAR STARTED MOVING AGAIN WHEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR. *TR
THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS RE-OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE NEXT 8 DAYS ALSO WHILE DRIVING, ONE TIME WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND HAD TWO ESTIMATES DONE AND CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE REPAIR COST US $400.00 DOLLARS. WE HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE SEEN THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON SAFETY PROBLEM. WE SPOKE WITH OUR NEIGHBORS WHO HAVE A FORD ESCAPE AND ALREADY HAD THEIR THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AS WELL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE NEW PART IS DESIGNED DIFFERENTLY NOW, SO THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO US AGAIN. THIS HAS TO BE A RECALL ITEM. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. FORD SHOULD HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE CHARGES. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT FORD HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE AND THAT ALL OF US HAVE TO PAY FOR A DEFECTIVE SYSTEM THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY KNOWS IS A PROBLEM, AND COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF A MAJOR ACCIDENT. *TR
ON FRIDAY, DEC 13TH, I WAS DRIVING HOME IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 60 MPH. MY BLOOD PRESSURE DROPPED SUDDENLY AND I PASSED OUT AT THE WHEEL. I WOKE UP JUST IN TIME TO CRASH, NO TIME TO REACT. I IMPACTED, HEAD ON, A CREEK BANK AFTER JUMPING OVER THE CREEK. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT INFLATE AND I IMPACTED THE STEERING WHEEL SO HARD I BROKE THE STEERING COLUMN OFF THE DASHBOARD. 3 DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH A COMPRESSED CHEST, IMPAIRED BREATHING, AND MASSIVE BRUISES. I HAD A COLD AT THE TIME AND IT MADE RECOVERY SLOWER. *TR

WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN CENTER LANE OF THREE LINE HIGHWAY. VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER CREATING A EMERGENCY SITUATION. I HAD TO FORCE TRAFFIC TO ALLOW ME PROCEED TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. ENDANGERING MYSELF AND MY FAMILY, I SAT FOR ABOUT 30 MIN. BEFORE I COULD MOVE THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 45 MPH THE WRENCH-SHAPED WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST PROPULSION...ENGINE STILL RUNNING, RADIO, A/C STILL OPERATING BUT 0 RPMS. I COASTED TO A STOP ON A SIDE ROAD AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. MECHANIC TELLS ME IT IS A FAILED THROTTLE BODY AND WILL BE PRETTY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IN TOWN AND THE CAR BEGAN TO "BUCK" AND SLOW DOWN. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE ACCELERATOR HAD NO EFFECT ON THE ENGINE. IT APPEARED TO BE IDLING ONLY. SHE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND STOPPED THE CAR, WAITED A10 MINUTES OR SO, AND STARTED IT AGAIN. THERE WAS NO DIFFICULTY STARTING THE CAR, BUT AGAIN THE ACCELERATOR HAD NO EFFECT ON THE ENGINE SPEED. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD THROTTLE BODY AND THROTTLE MOTOR. THE REPAIRS COST APPROXIMATELY $500. *TR
CAR STALLED WHILE MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT ALSO DID NOT ACCELERATE. SHE HAD TO STEP ON THE BRAKES TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE. SHE IMMEDIATELY GOT A DIAGNOSIS FROM AUTO ZONE (THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM OPEN- P2111), THEN TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS CONFIRMED AND REPAIRED. AN EMERGENCY LIGHT CAME ON DURING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVING WHEN WRENCH SYMBOL CAME ON DASHBOARD AND RPMS DROPPED TO UNDER 1 AND SPEED DROPPED. COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT AT WHICH POINT CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. COULD TURN CAR BACK ON. HAD TOWED AND THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. *TR
THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STALL WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDDLE WAS ENGAGED, AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING IT WOULD TRAVEL APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 100FT. BEFORE AGAIN STALLING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING UPON A ROADWAY IN OUR NEIGHBORING COMMUNITY AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, MY 2010 MERCURY MARINER SUDDENLY STOPPED TRAVELING AT SPEED, AND WENT INTO 'LIMP MODE'. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY PULL THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT. I CALLED MY WRECKER SERVICE AND THEY TOWED (FLATBED) MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT. I PURCHASED THE 2010 MERCURY MARINER NEW FROM THE SAME DEALER. THEY EXAMINED IT AND DETERMINED THAT THE 'THROTTLE BODY' NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY DECLINED TO REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY, STATING THAT THE PART WAS NO LONGER COVERED. THEY ALSO STATED THAT A RECALL HAD NOT BEEN ISSUED. I PAID A TOTAL OF $409.27 FOR THE REPAIR. THE TOW BILL WAS COVERED UNDER MY MEMBERSHIP IN AAA. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT BOUT 70 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE GAS PEDAL WENT LIMP AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE ANYMORE. I SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 45 MPH WITH CARS FLYING PAST ME. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SHOULDER AND TURN THE CAR OFF. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED SO I CALLED MY BOYFRIEND AND HE CAME AND CHECKED THE OIL AND A FEW OTHER THINGS BUT EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE OK. I GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND IT STARTED FINE AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR ON THE FREEWAY AGAIN KNOWING THIS PROBLEM COULD AND PROBABLY WILL KEEP HAPPENING UNTIL I GET THE PART REPLACED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY AVENUE AT ABOUT 5:45PM AND MY VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD AND MY VEHICLE WAS BASICALLY PUTT-PUTTING DOWN THE ROAD AT A VERY SLOW SPEED. DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING, I WAS ALMOST IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO A PARKING SPACE ABOUT A 1/4 OF A MILE AND SHUT OFF MY CAR VEHICLE. I CALLED MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND TOLD THEM TO EXPECT ME. I HAD PLANS OF HAVING THE CAR TOWED. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF HAVING MY VEHICLE OFF, I TRIED TO START IT AND IT WAS RUNNING NORMALLY. MY REPAIR SHOP TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND THE NEXT DAY AND DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY ALSO DIDN'T FIND ANY CODES APPEARING IN THE VEHICLES MEMORY. THEY DID FIND AN ARTICLE ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO THE SAME TYPE VEHICLES. I CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND WERE GOING TO CHECK IF THERE WERE ANY BULLETINS. I AM WAITING A PHONE CALL BACK. *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED OF 20-25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING AND BUCKED A LITTLE. THE WRENCH (POWERTRAIN) SIGNAL LIGHT UP ON THE DASH, SO I PROCEEDED TO PULL OVER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND SHUT IT OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND ALL SEEMED FINE, THOUGH THE CAR WAS NOW SLOW MOVING AND LESS SMOOTH THROUGH SHIFTING. THE SAME THING OCCURRED 9 DAYS LATER, WITH THE VEHICLE RESPONDING EVEN MORE SLOWLY AFTERWARDS. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY 2010 MERCURY MARINER FOR OVER A MONTH. IT IS STALLING OUT AT RANDOM TIMES AND THEN THE VEHICLE DIES. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THE COMPUTER IS NOT DETECTING THE PROBLEM SO THEY CANT DETERMINE WHAT TO FIX. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT MAY ME THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT THIS IS NOT COVERED IN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IS A VERY EXPENSIVE PART TO REPLACE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WITH 2 KIDS AND THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN WE ARE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH WITH TRAFFIC. *TR
DRIVING AT 50 MILES PER HOUR THE SUV LOST ALL POWER AND HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNED OFF VEHICLE AND THEN RESTARTED AND RAN FINE. THREE DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY ON THE MOTOR WAS BAD. THEY SAID IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER MY DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY AND CHARGED ME 300.00 DOLLARS. THE SUV ONLY HAS 17,000 MILES ON IT.. I READ THERE IS 27,000 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES? SOME ONE IS GOING TO GET HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THROTTLE BODY IS GONE I GET THE P2111 CODE THIS PART IS COSTING ME 440.00 DOLLARS THE WARRANTY THE COMPANY SOLD ME DOES NOT COVER IT AND THAT IS A JOKE ALSO. *TR
DRIVING TO WORK ON 1431, THE CAR FELT AS THOUGH IT HIT A BUMP, LOST ALL ABILITY TO DRIVE. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD, TURNED CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 10 TO 15 SECONDS AND THEN BACK ON. AT THIS POINT IT SEEM TO OPERATE PROPERLY. THEN ABOUT THREE MILES DOWN THE ROAD IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. THIS TIME THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ON, SO TRAFFIC WAS TIED UP. WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40 MPH THIS TIME. DID THE SAME THING, TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND SEEMED TO WORK NORMAL. LATER THAT EVENING GOING HOME FROM WORK THE CAR DID THE SAME THING, TWO MORE TIMES BEFORE I REACHED HOME. ONE TIME AS I WAS GOING FROM PALMER TO 1431 ON A CURVE. THE NEXT TIME IT WAS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE GOING HOME. THE ICON ON DASHBOARD WAS A WRENCH WHICH INDICATES IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE CONTROL. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE CONTROL UNIT, AND CHARGED $650 TO REPAIR. BELIEVE THAT THIS IS/WAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM SAFETY WISE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY FORD. *JS
THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD TO GO, AND MY CAR JUST STOPPED. I DIDN'T NOT HAVE ENOUGH SPEED TO MOVE FROM THE SPOT I WAS IN. STUCK IN MORNING TRAFFIC I HAD TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND TRY TO RESTART IT. IT TOOK A FEW TURNS OF THE KEY AND IT FINALLY STARTED. *TR
9/8/2013 DRIVING 60MPH I FELT A SLIGHT JOLT AND NOTICE A YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD.THEN THE MERCURY MARINER DECELERATED AND STALLED TO WHERE I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO SHOULDER OFF ROAD, AND TURN ENGINE OFF. AT THIS POINT NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO I JUST TURNED CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN RE-START. THERE WAS NO WRENCH LIGHT, BUT I DID NOTICE A HESITATION FOR THE CAR TO CATCH. I DROVE HOME ABOUT 20 MILES AND THE CAR DROVE ROUGH AS IF IT WAS HAVING A HARD TIME SHIFTING AND NOTICE THE RPM DANCING BACK AND FORTH FROM 3-1 ON ROAD INCLINES. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST READ NO STORED CODES.WHAT??? THIS HAPPEN WITHIN A 2 DAY PERIOD, CAR WOULD STALL, YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT WOULD APPEAR ON DASH. TOOK IT TO A FORD AUTHORIZED DEALER, AND HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IS WAS THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONING. PAID. $301FOR PARTS AND LABOR. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE THROTTLE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE 2012 MERCURY MARINER AND IVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY CAR GOING LIMP. WHEN IM DRIVING UPHILL, MY CAR LOSES POWER, THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER (COAST OVER) TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF MY ENGINE AND RESTART MY CAR. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THROTTLE BODY. EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS UNDER THE MILEAGE WARRANTY, IT IS JUST OVER THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY. IT WILL COST $436 TO REPAIR/REPLACE. MY CAR LOST ACCELERATION POWER WITHOUT WARNING AND PUT ME IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS SEVERAL TIMES.
DRIVING TO WORK AT STEADY SPEED WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION. WHILE I WAS ABLE TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, HAD I BEEN IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN OR AN ENTRY ON THE HIGHWAY, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNED OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTED. DROVE ABOUT 1/3 MILE AND IT DID IT AGAIN. THIS TIME WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND KEPT IT RUNNING IT FELT LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO JUMP OUT OF GEAR AND ACCELERATE WHICH WAS VERY SCARY. WE DETERMINED BY CALLING INTERNET IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. CALLED THREE FORD DEALERSHIPS WHERE THEY WERE ALL SOLD OUT AND BACK-ORDERED. WE FOUND ONE AT THE FOURTH AND PUT IT ON OURSELF IN 30 MINUTES. COST $180 P/N DS7Z9E926D.FORD NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES AS THEY KNOW IT'S A PROBLEM. THEY HAVE MULTIPLE CARS GETTING THIS PROBLEM FIXED DAILY!!!!!!!
RETURNING HOME FROM WORK, WIFE IN FRONT OF ME. CENTER HIGH STOP LIGHT HAD SOME BAD BULBS. REMOVED ASSEMBLY, FOUND MELTED REFLECTOR AND BROKEN BULBS. TOOK MANY PHOTOS. I BADGERED DEALERSHIP FOR REIMBURSEMENT, FINALLY GOT CHECK AT END OF DECEMBER. STILL HAVE PICS AND PART. *TR
WE WERE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE WENT DEAD LIKE THE SWITCH WAS CUT OFF. I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND IT WOULD TRY TO START THEN GO DEAD. I DID THIS 10 TIMES AND IT FINALLY STARTED. I TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. A COMPUTER CHECK DID NOT SHOW ANY PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAID HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO WORK ON AND SAID TO RETURN IT WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY STALLS WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. THE THIRD TIME I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON THE PARKWAY. A DANGEROUS CONDITION TO SAY THE LEAST. I HAVE A SECOND 2010 MARINER WHICH HAD EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM IN JANUARY 2013. BOTH WERE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER BY REPLACING A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR MERGING ON TO THE EXPRESSWAY IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND AS SOON AS I GOT ON THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER. I COULD NOT PUSH ON THE GAS OR ANYTHING. LUCKILY THERE WAS AN OPENING IN SOME CONES FOR ME TO BARELY HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO GET OUT ON ONE LANE OF TRAFFIC IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE IN MORNING RUSHING HOUR TRAFFIC. I HAD TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND LUCKILY IT CAME BACK ON. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO SO MANY PEOPLE THAT THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THIS IS CRAZY! I HAD MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AND WE COULD HAVE BEEN HIT. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE!

DRIVING TO WORK WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED TO BUCK. THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN TO 0 WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL. HAD TO PULL OVER QUICKLY AS I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON - CAR WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 15 MPH. FOUND OUT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM BEING LOOKED AT BY NHTSA. POWER TRAIN THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER IT WAS NOT CHEAP TO FIX. I WAS LEAVING A SOCCER GAME AND THE CAR WENT TO ABOUT 40 MPS AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PEDAL WENT LIMP. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE CAR AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING LIKE IT WAS OUT OF TIME. I PUT IT IN PART AND SHUT OFF THE CAR WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON THE LIGHT WAS OFF. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 20 MILES BACK AND FORTH AND THEN IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO RUN THE CODES AND THERE WERE NONE. TODAY 8/31/13 IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN AND NOW FINALLY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CODES WERE RAN AT AUTOZONE AND P1212 THROTTLE BODY SENSOR FINALLY SHOWED UP. I HAD ALREADY CHECKED THE WEB THE FIRST TIME THAT IT DID IT AFTER TALKING WITH A MECHANIC THAT WORKS AT FORD AND HE TOLD ME WHAT IT WAS AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. I AM VERY UPSET. I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR LESS THAN THREE MONTHS AGO!!! SINGLE MOM SOMEONE HELP!!! *JS
VERY DANGEROUS THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION: AS I WAS ACCELERATING FROM APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH I PRESSED THE GAS AND SUDDENLY THERE WAS NO POWER...NOTHING. I HAD POWER STEERING AND BRAKES BUT THE CAR SLOWED DOWN RAPIDLY AND WENT INTO WHAT I LATER FOUND OUT WAS SAFE MODE. IT WAS IDLING ROUGH AND THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN RAPIDLY BECAUSE I WAS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. A WRENCH APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS HAPPENED FOUR MORE TIME IN THREE DAYS. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE WHERE THIS OCCURED THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 55 MPH, I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY DRIVING AND I WAS VERY LUCKY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY. NO CODE APPEARED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE READER EVEN THOUGH THIS OCCURED FOUR MORE TIMES. *TR
LOST POWER WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN VEHICLE STALLED RESTARTED BUT CONTINUED TO STALL TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. *TR
SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. CAR DID NOT STALL BUT HAD NO THROTTLE. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER ON BUSY ROUTE 46 IN NEW JERSEY. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO COAST INTO A WENDY'S PARKING LOT TO AVOID A COLLISION FROM THE REAR. EMERGENCY REPAIR WAS PERFORMED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC. IDENTIFIED FAULT CODE AS P2112. CAR RESTARTED AND I WAS FORCED BY PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME DESPITE THE INCIDENT. VERY SCARY SINCE I TRAVELED ON NJ TURNPIKE BY NEWARK AIRPORT...ELEVATED HIGHWAY, 3 LANES, NO SHOULDER, 65MPH, 18 WHEELERS. IF CAR HAD STALLED THERE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED!!!! I WANT MY GOVERNMENT TO TAKE ACTION TO FORCE FORD TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND FORCE A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY.. *TR

DRIVING AT APPROX 40 MPH CAR ENGINE REACTS ABNORMALLY AND "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT APPEARS AND CAR "STALLS" OUT AND, ALTHOUGH FULLY OPERATIONAL WILL NOT DRIVE. TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE ENGINE EVENTUALLY WILL TURN OVER BUT AGAIN REPEATS THE SAME ISSUE OF "STALLING" OUT. AFTER HAVING THE CAR TOWED, THE DIAGNOSIS IS A DEFECTIVE "THROTTLE-BODY". *TR

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY LOOSE POWER FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND LIMP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. A LIGHT WOULD COME ON THAT LOOKED LIKE A WRENCH. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND RESTARTED I WAS ABLE TO MOVE ON NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT EPISODE WHICH BEGAN TO COME MORE FREQUENTLY. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO MY FORD DEALER AND SPOKE TO SOMEONE IN SERVICE WHO TOLD ME THEY COULD HOOK THE CAR UP TO THE COMPUTER BUT SINCE THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OUT IT WOULD MOST LIKELY SHOW NOTHING AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $100 FOR THIS SERVICE. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH A $100 DEDUCTIBLE THAT WAS GOING TO RUN OUT IN 400 MILES. I HAVE THE VEHICLE IN RIGHT NOW AND THEY JUST CALLED AND TOLD ME THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WILL COST ME OVER $500.

I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 0. I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. I HAD TO HAVE AAA TOW THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC. HE RAN DIFFERENT TESTS AND THE READOUT HE GOT FROM THE COMPUTER WAS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. HE HAS A PRIORITY ORDER FOR THE PART AND SAID THERE IS A NATIONAL BACKORDER ON THIS PART. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH (NAC) AND THEY TOLD HIM THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE PART. I HAVE TO PAY CLOSE TO $820 FOR THE PART AND LABOR. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2010 MARINER BUT WILL NOT HAVE A RECALL. DO PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE FORD MOTOR COMPANY ACTS? THIS IS A DISGRACE FOR THE CONSUMER. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2010 MARINER 03/26/2013 FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND 35 - 40 MPH I NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND AND DIFFICULTY TO INCREASE SPEED. I THEN NOTICED THAT MY LEFT BLINKER WAS FLASHING AT A FASTER SPEED AND THE TAIL LIGHT WENT OUT. THAT WAS REPLACED. THE CAR THEN WOULD SPORADICALLY GO DEAD AND WOULD HAVE TO BE JUMPED. I HAD 3 DIFFERENT SERVICE SHOPS LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO ISSUES. I DID REPLACE THE BATTERY AND IT APPEARED TO RUN FINE FOR ABOUT 3 - 4 DAYS. IT IS NOW SPORADICALLY DEAD AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WILL LOOK INTO THE ISSUE ON 8/7/2013. UNDETERMINED PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. *TR
I HAD JUST GOTTEN BACK FROM A LONG TRIP, AND WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT - I BARELY ACCELERATED ONCE IT TURNED GREEN, AND THE CAR LOST COMPLETE AND TOTAL POWER, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. NO THROTTLE WAS WORKING AS MUCH AS I PRESSED DOWN. THE CAR KEPT SNAIL PACING UNTIL I GOT TO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT WHERE I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. I TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT REVVED ITSELF, SO I TURNED IT BACK OFF. TURNED IT BACK ON AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WORKED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO CLAIMED IT WAS THE "ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY" FAILING AND CHARGED ME $98 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. I DECIDED FOR A SECOND OPINION, AND THEY TOOK EVERYTHING APART TO SEE IF IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE SINCE THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER MUCH TESTING THEY CONCLUDED IT WAS IN FACT THE "ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY," AND THE REPAIR COST ME $595. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, 2 OR 3 DAYS PRIOR, I FELT THE CAR WAS LOSING POWER AND IT WAS HARD TO GET IT TO GO AT IT'S V6 POTENTIAL. CAR STILL HESITATES AND FEELS LIKE THE ENGINE JUMPS OUT WHEN IT STOPS AND MOVES AGAIN... SURE ENOUGH MY ENGINE MOUNTS NOW NEED REPLACING, AND THAT'S ANYWHERE BETWEEN $350-$500. ANOTHER RECALL PERHAPS? IT'S BEEN DOING THIS SINCE DAY 1, AND MY WARRANTY ENDED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. GO FIGURE... JUST WHEN 3 YEARS WAS UP! SIGH *TR
