SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER, ENGINE IDLES BUT NO PROPULSION, SPEEDOMETER INSTANTLY DROPS TO ZERO. *TR
THE CAR LOST ALL POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO STEER IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND TO RESTART IT. THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN 3 MILES AND THEN AGAIN IN 1 MILE. IT WAS OKAY FOR THE NEXT 3 MONTHS. THEN I TRIED TO PASS A TRACTOR AND MY CAR STALLED. I GOT IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP INTO A FORD SERVICE CENTER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED A " THROTTLE BODY FAILURE". I AM WAITING ON A PART BACK ORDER TO GET IT FIXED! *TR
WENT TO SHUT BACK DOOR ON VEHICLE AND THE BACK GLASS JUST EXPLODED. GLASS WENT EVERY WHERE ME AND MY CHILDREN WERE HIT WITH GLASS BUT NO INJURIES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY STALLS WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. THE THIRD TIME I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON THE PARKWAY. I HAVE A SECOND 2010 MARINER WHICH HAD EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM IN AUGUST 2013. BOTH WERE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER BY REPLACING A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
FIRST STARTED WITH A SUDDENLY A DEAD BATTERY. REPLACED THE BATTERY AND 3 MONTHS LATER HAPPENED AGAIN. SLOWLY DEAD BATTERY EVERY 1-3 MONTHS. REPLACED 4 BATTERIES. WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD ALTERNATOR. ALTERNATOR REPLACED. THREE DAYS LATER DEAD BATTERY. ANOTHER ALTERNATOR INSTALLED AND AGAIN, TWO DAYS LATER DEAD BATTERY. FORD REFUSED TO HELP EVEN AFTER GIVING ME A CASE NUMBER. SAID BECAUSE I'VE NEVER HAD VEHICLE SERVICED AT A DEALERSHIP THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY SUPPORT THEIR DEALERS. ALSO, FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE FAILED TO TELL ME THE PCM WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD DEALERSHIP IN DOVER, DE. DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD PCM. PCM INSTALLED BY DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND TRIED RESTARTING. BATTERY DEAD AGAIN. BATTERY REPLACED PER RECOMMENDATIONS BY DEALERSHIP. DROVE THE NEXT DAY, BUT BY THE END OF THE DAY BATTERY DEAD AGAIN. HAD TO BUY A REMOTE BATTERY PACK TO START THE CAR WHEN THE BATTERY IS DEAD. HAVE BEEN STRANDED 10 TIMES AND HAD TO JUMP START TO GET HOME. FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR WITH A GENUINE FORD ALTERNATOR ANT THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. PURCHASED THE ALTERNATOR AND HAD IT INSTALLED. HIGHEST VOLTAGE, EVEN WITH ACCESSORIES TURNED ON, WAS 12.8 VOLTS AND WOULDN'T GO ANY HIGHER. I AM RETURNING BACK TO FORD DEALERSHIP ON TUESDAY, 10/28/14 TO SEE IF THEY WILL CONTACT FORD ENGINEERS FOR SOLUTION. SO FAR, 6 BATTERIES, 2 ALTERNATORS, NEW PCM AND BATTERY IS STILL NOT BEING CHARGED. RUNNING OUT OF PATIENCE AND MONEY. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IN OUR MERCURY MARINER WHEN IT SUDDENLY WENT FROM 30 TO 0 MPH FOR NO REASON. HER FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR WHEN IT SUDDENLY SLOWED TO A STOP, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WHEN SHE TRIED TO DRIVE IT AGAIN THE POWERTRAIN ALARM WAS ON SO WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. FORD MECHANICS FOUND IT TO BE AN INTERNAL SHORT IN THE THROTTLE BODY AND REPLACED IT. UNBELIEVABLY, WE HAD TO PAY $342.47, AFTER FORD REFUSED TO DO THE REPLACEMENT OF AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE ENGINE EVEN THOUGH THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WAS STILL IN EFFECT AND IT WAS A POWERTRAIN ALARM. NOT ONLY DO I BELIEVE THIS REPAIR SHOULD HAVE BEEN PAID BY FORD UNDER THE WARRANTY, BUT I BELIEVE WE WERE FORCED TO CORRECT A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT SHOULD HAVE HAD A RECALL, AS MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR FORD PRODUCTS AND IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR A CAR TO COME TO A SUDDEN HALT FOR NO REASON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MARINER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED TWICE AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER TRAIN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MIELAGES WERE 35,500.
GOING 65 MILES DOWN INTERSTATE DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND LOST ALL POWER HAD TO WEAVE TO SIDE OF ROAD TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC HAD TO HAVE REPAIRED WAS THROTTLE BODY. *TR
THE CAR JUST DIED ON THE MOTORWAY AND LEFT ME IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE PROBLEM IS AN INEFFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY ( CODE P2111 ). *TR
ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, STARTED SURGING, RUNNING VERY ROUGH AND WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER THAN ABOUT 15 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND SHUT OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND SEEMED TO RUN NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE RAN NORMALLY UNTIL 10/05/2012 WHEN IT STALLED AND RAN VERY ROUGH AGAIN. AT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR A CHECK. WHILE WAITING FOR A CALL BACK FROM THE DEALER THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND SEEM TO RUN NORMALLY AGAIN. AFTER TALKING TO THE SERVICE MGR., IT WAS LEARNED THAT THE PROBLEM MOST LIKELY WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WOULD NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY. AT THIS TIME IT WAS DECIDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SHOP THAT WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH FOR PAST SERVICE FOR OTHER VEHICLES WITHIN OUR FAMILY. THE LOCAL SHOP ORDERED AND INSTALLED A NEW THROTTLE BODY AND THE VEHICLE HAS PERFORMED NORMALLY. *TR
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED, PULLED TO SHOULDER ,THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT NO FUEL GETTING TO IT TO GO. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTED AND IT WAS FINE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW DAYS LATER AND I CALLED A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED,I WANED TO GET IT TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRED IN DECEMBER OF 2012.I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT ABOUT A MONTH LATER, AT THIS TIME I DID NOT DRIVE IT MUCH UNLESS I HAD TO UNTIL WARMER WEATHER. IN JUNE OF 2013 I HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL AUGUST OF 2013. I THEN HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN. BY THIS TIME THERE WAS NO WARRANTY ON IT AND THE PROBLEM WAS FOUND. I HAD TO PAY MORE THAN $500.00 FOR IT TO BE REPAIRED. *JS
DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE JUST SLOWED DOWN AND WAS NOT GETTING FUEL. I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT NOT GETTING FUEL. I TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED AND IT WAS OK. A FEW WEEKS LATER IT DID IT AGAIN AND I CALLED A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. I WANTED TO GET IT TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED.THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAD A COUPLE MORE ISSUES BUT I DID NOT DRIVE IT MUCH DURING COLDER WEATHER. IN JUNE OF 2013 I HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT WITH THE SAME ISSUE. OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS IT CONTINUED OCCASIONALLY BUT IN AUGUST OF 2013 IT STARTED MORE OFTEN. ONE INCIDENT WAS IN AN INTERSECTION THAT WAS VERY BUSY AND I CALLED THE SAME FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET IT IN AGAIN AND THEY THEN FOUND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, AT THIS TIME IT NOW CAST ME OVER $500.00 DOLLARS TO FIX IT. *TR
ON THAT DATE, I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY WIFE AT APPROXIMATELY 2 PM. SUDDENLY, THE CAR WENT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL WENT STIFF. AS I TRIED TO MOVE UNSUCCESSFULLY, WE WENT DOWN TO A SLOPE OF ABOUT 20 DEGREES. AS A RESULT, BOTH OF US HAD TO BE TAKEN FOR EMERGENCY TREATMENT FOR KNOCKS, CUTS AND FOLLOW UP CHECKS. SO FAR, IT HAS COST US $16,497.00 AND REPAIR OF THE CAR US$6,853.00. THERE HAS BEEN OTHER EVENTS WHERE THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPS AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES STIFF. BUT, I DON T USE THE CAR IN THE HIGHWAY BUT ONLY FOR SHORTS ERRANDS AND WITHIN THE AREA WHERE WE LIVE. ITS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. I HAVE CHANGED THE THROTTLE CASING MODULE, THE RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE, I PUT A RUBBER STOP ON THE ACCELERATION PEDAL, ETC. AGAIN, OUT OF THE ACCIDENT IT HAS BEEN OVER 4 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN TRYING TO FIX THE CAR. *TR
ENGINE LOST POWER. RPM DROPPED TO APPROX 1000 AND THROTTLE BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE WAS RUNNING VERY ROUGH. PULLED OFF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. SHUT OFF ENGINE. RESTARTED AND RAN NORMALLY. NEXT DAY DEALER STATES THAT NO FAULTS WERE REGISTERED, SUSPECTS THROTTLE BODY DEFECT. CONCERNED THAT I MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY TO BE IN LIGHT TRAFFIC NEXT TIME RESULTING IN ACCIDENT. *TR
THIS IS A LETTER I WROTE TO MY REPAIR SERVICE ON 8-3-12. "THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE LAST TWO DAYS AND IS A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE TO DRIVE. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A SIDE STREET ONCE AND TWICE ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSES POWER AND WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND TOOL LIGHT BOTH CAME ON AND TWICE JUST THE TOOL LIGHT CAME ON (THE WRENCH). NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO REGAIN SPEED. IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DISABLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART THE CAR. IF I HAD NOT BEEN CLOSE TO A SHOULDER, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN MOST DANGEROUS FOR ME AND FOR THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. THE CAR JUST LOSES ALL POWER AND GETTING IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC IS A DANGEROUS ENDEAVOR. THIS CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN SAFELY. " I DROVE THE CAR TO A CLOSE BY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO A SHOP EMPLOYEE. THE OWNER OF THE SHOP RECOMMENDED TAKING THE CAR TO A DEALER. I AM NOT A TIMID DRIVER, BUT I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED ($52.50) TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THE COST TO REPLACE A THROTTLE BODY WAS $516.08. I READ RECENTLY THAT THE CAR WAS REPORTED TO SUPPLY LIMP-HOME SPEEDS. I DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS AND DEFINITELY FEEL THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MARINER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,200.
SEVERAL TIMES, WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE, ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SOON AFTERWARD. AT TIMES I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND AT TIMES SLOWER--THE LAST TIME BEFORE SERVICE WAS APPROX. 40 MPH. HAD TO PULL OVER SEVERAL TIMES TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, STOP THE ENGINE, THEN RESTART AND TRY TO CONTINUE DRIVING. AFTER SEVERAL MORE LOSSES OF COMPRESSION AND POWER, RETURNED HOME AND TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS, BUT WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AFTERWARD, AND WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON, RETURNED FOR SERVICE ON 4/02/12, WHERE THE DIAGNOSTICS CONFIRMED A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. IT WAS REPLACED AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEMS SINCE THEN. I HAD TO SPEND THE FOLLOWING AMOUNTS FOR SERVICE: DIAGNOSTICS ON 3/30/12: $59. ACTUAL REPAIR ON 4/02/12: $450.61. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MARINER . THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH , THE POWER TRAIN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT WAS THEN ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,696.
ON FEB 2010, I SIGNED A 3-YR LEASE ON A 2010 MERCURY MARINER. ON DEC 23, 2011, AFTER 8HRS OF DRIVING, ON THE WAY TO MY RELATIVES, THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING. WITH 22,250 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, MY TRANSMISSION FAILED; VERY HARSH ENGAGEMENTS, VEHICLE JERKS HARD BETWEEN GEARS, LOOSES POWER AND POPS FORWARD WHEN DRIVING STEADY SPEED AND WHEN APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION TO STOP OR TURN. SAFETY CONCERNS DUE TO UNKNOWN IF POWER FAILURE WILL OCCUR WHEN THERE IS ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR IF VEHICLE WILL POP ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR HIT SOMEONE AHEAD OF ME IN TRAFFIC. TRANSMISSION ISSUE ALSO CAUSES POOR GAS MILEAGE. ON 12/24/11, I TOOK IT TO A NEARBY FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE HAD MY TRUCK GOING ON TWO WEEKS AND THEY ARE JUST REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION. SINCE I LEASED THIS THROUGH FORD MOTOR CREDIT, I CONTACTED THEM LAST NIGHT IN HOPES THAT THEY WILL AT LEAST PRO-RATE MY LEASE FOR THE MONTH. TO NO AVAIL, THEY SAID THEY CAN'T. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT IT SEEMS LIKE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES. WHAT CAN I DO? *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE HESITATION INTERMITTENTLY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE BEGAN NOTICING THE PROBLEM IN 2011, AFTER A 2010 UPDATE OF THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE IN A FACTORY RECALL. IN ADDITION TO THE HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THERE WERE ALSO A FEW INSTANCES WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL SEEMED TO EITHER SURGE OR BACK DOWN, AS IF IT DIDN'T KNOW QUITE HOW TO RESPOND, USUALLY, BUT NOT ALWAYS, WHEN ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. THE CONSUMER STATED ON ONE OCCASION, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, WITH THE MOTOR IDLING, SHE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO TO GEAR ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT, WHEN IT DID SHIFT, IT SHIFTED VERY HARD AND NOISILY INTO GEAR ON THE 2ND ATTEMPT. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIFT ROUGH IN LOWER GEARS, TYPICALLY FROM AS TOP OR ACCELERATING AFTER SLOWING TO ALMOST A STOP. THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER, AFTER THE DEALER WHERE SHE ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, FAILED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS SHE EXPERIENCING. THE SECOND DEALER INFORMED HER, THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY WAS DAMAGED EVEN BEFORE THE RECALL CAME OUT IN 2012. THE PART WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A HESITATION IN JANUARY 2013. THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER READING ABOUT AN INVESTIGATION OF FORD VEHICLE, WHICH INCLUDED HER MODEL YEAR, SHE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED.
SHORT IN LEFT FRONT HEADLIGHT AND FOR CHANGED LIGHT BULB AND 10 MINUTES AFTER PARKING MY CAR AND OWNING IT 1 1/2 MONTHS THE CAR BLEW UP. *TR
IN 2011, WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE STAYED ON BUT I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON THE HAZARDS AND PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND AFTER WAITING 5 MINUTES I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS WORKING. THEN AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2013, I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN I LOST ACCELERATION CAPABILITY. THIS TIME THE THROTTLE BODY INDICATOR LIGHT WAS DISPLAYED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO A MECHANIC AND HE STATED THAT NOTHING REGISTERED ON THE COMPUTER AS A MALFUNCTION. HE LOOKED AT THE INTAKE VALVE AND COULD NOT SEE ANY BUILD-UP. IN JANUARY 2014 THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND PROCEED. HOWEVER, ON JANUARY 11, 2014 AFTER THE MALFUNCTION THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESET IMMEDIATELY NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS DISPLAYED. *TR
VIN IN THIS FORM WOULD NOT LET ME ADD THE 17TH DIGIT. THE 17TH DIGIT IS A 6. I SHUT REAR DOOR OF MERCURY MARINER AND REAR WINDOW SHATTERED-EXPLODED INTO LITTLE PIECES NO LARGER AND 1 INCH. TEMPERATURE 40 DEGREES. CLOUDY. NO ONE WAS INJURED. SHATTERED PIECES FELL ONTO A PARKING LOT.
I PURCHASED 2010 MERCURY MARINER AT THE END OF MAY 2010, APPROXIMATELY 21 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE DATE MY TRANSMISSION FAILED; VERY HARSH ENGAGEMENTS, VEHICLE JERKS HARD BETWEEN GEARS, LOOSES POWER AND POPS FORWARD WHEN DRIVING STEADY SPEED AND WHEN APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION TO STOP OR TURN. SAFETY CONCERNS DUE TO UNKNOWN IF POWER FAILURE WILL OCCUR WHEN THERE IS ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR IF VEHICLE WILL POP ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR HIT SOMEONE AHEAD OF ME IN TRAFFIC. TRANSMISSION ISSUE ALSO CAUSES POOR GAS MILEAGE. FORD DEALERSHIP REPLACED TRANSMISSION IN 10/16/10 (13 DAYS WITH DEALERSHIP) AND STATED VEHICLE ISSUES WERE CORRECTED. I RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR CONTINUED TRANSMISSION SAFETY ISSUES (SAME AS NOTED ABOVE) ON 12/06/10 (4 DAYS WITH DEALERSHIP), AGAIN ON 1/11/11 (16 DAYS WITH DEALERSHIP) AFTER I HAD SUBMITTED 30 DEMAND LETTER ON 12/15/10 TO REPAIR OR REPURCHASE VEHICLE AND DEALERSHIP ADVISED EACH TIME TRANSMISSION REPAIR COMPLETED. YET EACH TIME TRANSMISSION ISSUES/CONCERNS STILL REMAIN. DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER DROVE VEHICLE AND AGREED THERE ARE TRANSMISSION ISSUES/CONCERNS. FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS ADVISED A TSB WOULD BE ISSUED PRIOR TO END OF JUNE 2011 THAT WOULD CORRECT TRANSMISSION AND OFFERED AN EXTENDED POWER TRAIN WARRANTY OF 60 MONTHS OR 100,000 MILES. I HAVE SENT EMAILS TO FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS INQUIRING ON THE TSB ON 6/27/11, 6/29/11 AND 7/7/11, NO RESPONSE RECEIVED. NO TSB TO DATE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR VEHICLE PRODUCTION NOR THE CONSUMER THAT PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS REPLACED, BUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED WITH A PERSON WEIGHING BETWEEN 120 AND 135 POUNDS, THE AIR BAG SENSOR WOULD NOT DETECT THE PASSENGER AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE AIR BAG NOT DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS 6,500 UPDATED 10/0810 *BF THE DEALER REPLACED THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. FORD STATED THE SYSTEM WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MERCURY MARINER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT REAR WINDOW ON THE LIFT GATE HAD SUDDENLY EXPLODED . A GLASS COMPANY REPLACED THE WINDOW ON 03/07/2010, ONE WEEK LATER AFTER CLOSING THE REAR LIFT GATE THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED AGAIN. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A COLLISION CENTER AND SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR WINDOW SHOCK WAS BROKEN AND WAS REPLACED.
