VEHICLE IS MISSING, NOW SHAKING. NEED SPARK PLUG REPLACED BUT IS STUCK. NEEDED SPECIAL TOOL/EQUIPMENT TO GET OUT. WILL BE VERY COSTLY. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM SINCE I ONLY PURCHASED IT ALMOST 2 YRS AGO. I AM REALLY CONTEMPLATING SUING!! *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE SEAT SUDDENLY WENT ALL THE WAY BACK AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON. AFTER A MOMENT, THE SEAT WENT BACK TO NORMAL POSITION AND THE LIGHTS WENT BACK OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN, WE FINALLY FIGURED OUT IT WAS THE IGNITION, WITH THE CAR ACTING LIKE THE KEY JUST GOT PUT IN THE IGNITION OR JUST PULLED OUT, AND THE SEAT MOVING ALL THE WAY BACK FOR EASIER INGRESS/EGRESS AND THE COURTESY LIGHTS COMING ON. SINCE I AM ONLY 5 FOOT 2 INCHES, WHEN THE SEAT MOVES BACK I CAN NO LONGER REACH THE PETALS, A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING. I HOPE THIS GETS FIXED BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS HURT, AS I HAVE A COUPLE FRIENDS WITH MOUNTAINEERS, ONE IS THE SAME YEAR, WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S SEAT WILL MOVE BACKWARDS TO THE "EASY EXIT" POSITION WITHOUT WARNING. IT DOES THIS WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS JARRED FROM ROAD CONDITIONS OR WHEN THE DRIVER'S KNEE BUMPS THE IGNITION. THIS HAPPENS AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. MY WIFE IS SHORT AND THIS DEFECT MOVES HER OUT OF REACH OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SEAT MEMORY ADJUSTING SYSTEM FAILED AND CAUSED THE DRIVER SEAT TO ERRONEOUSLY MOVE BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE KEY FORWARD TO PLACE THE SEAT BACK TO NORMAL SETTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE IGNITION CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000. UPDATED 3/13/13 *CN UPDATED 03/19/13
WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVES ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE EASY ENTER/EXIT POSITION AND THE DOME LIGHT COMES ON. I AM A SHORT PERSON OF 5' AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS I CANNOT REACH THE PEDDLES AND HAVE TO EXTEND MY ARMS ALL THE WAY TO REACH THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE TO REACH DOWN AND MANUALLY MOVE THE SEAT BACK. SINCE MY SPEED DECREASES SUDDENLY I AM AFRAID SOMEONE WILL REAR END ME ONE DAY. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ON MORE THAN ONE 2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEERS AND TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WILL COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. I AM RETIRED WITH A DISABILITY AND ON A FIXED INCOME AND CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS FIXED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND DO NOT KNOW WHY FORD WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. DRIVER SEAT AUTOMATICALLY RETRACTS WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS AT SPEEDS FROM SLOW TO FAST AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING REGULARLY SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED IN 2010. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY DRIVERS SEAT WENT FORWARD INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING AND SEAT WENT IN THE LAST MEMORY POSITION AS FAR FORWARD AS POSSIBLE POSITION JAMMING DRIVERS FOOT ON GAS PEDAL FOR AN UNSPECIFIED AMOUNT OF TIME, AND DOME LIGHT CAME ON. DRIVER COULD NOT GET FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL AND COULD ONLY GET THE SEAT TO GO BACK BY MANUALLY USING THE SEAT BUTTONS. DRIVERS SEAT WAS SO FAR FORWARD IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT FOR DRIVER TO GET HAND BETWEEN DOOR AND SEAT TO GET TO BUTTON AND DRIVER WAS SO FRANTIC AND SCARED TRYING TO MAINTAIN VEHICLE CONTROL WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET HAND BETWEEN SEAT AND DOOR TO REACH AND FIND CORRECT BUTTON TO MOVE SEAT BACK WHEN THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT SEAT BUTTONS. DRIVER HAS DISABLED PERSON THAT SETS BEHIND DRIVERS SEAT SO DRIVERS SEAT UPON DISABLED PERSON ENTERING VEHICLE IS ALWAYS PUT IN THE FARTHEREST POSITION FORWARD TO ENABLE DISABLED PERSON SPACE TO GET IN VEHICLE. UPON FINALLY GETTING SEAT BACK DRIVER HAS NO RECOLLECTION OF ANY EVENTS OCCURRING AFTERWARD BECAUSE DRIVER WENT INTO SHOCK. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TO FIND PROBLEM SHOP MANAGER GOT IN ATTEMPTING TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM INSTEAD THE SEAT WOULDN'T EVEN MOVE AS IT'S AUTOMATICALLY PROGRAMMED TO DO, THEN SEAT ROCKED BACK AND FORTH, THEN WENT ALL THE WAY FORWARD. DEALERSHIP MADE TWO NEW IGNITION KEYS TO REPLACE THE WORN KEY, REPLACED COMPUTER MEMORY CYLINDER IN STEERING WHEEL WHERE IT WAS FOUND IF WORN IGNITION KEY LOST CONTACT BECAUSE OF KEY BEING WORN, WITH CYLINDER, SEAT HAD A MIND OF IT'S OWN. THIS RESULTED IN A SPEEDING TICKET. *TR
PURCHASED A USED 2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER ALMOST A YEAR AGO, IN APPROX OCT 2012 THE DRIVER'S SEAT STARTED MOVING BACK AND FORTH WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE SEAT MOVED BACK IT WAS ALMOST SO FAR BACK I COULDN'T HOLD ONTO STEERING WHEEL OR KEEP FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL. TOOK VEHICLE TO MCCOY MILLS FORD AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE OCCURRENCE. SINCE THAT DATE THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I FIGURED OUT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. IF THE CAR GETS ANY MINOR JOLT AS IN RIDING ON ROUGH STREET OR GOING OVER SPEED BUMP, IGNITION APPARENTLY SHIFT WHICH TRIGGERS SOMETHING IN THE SENSOR AND OFF YOU GO. MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON 12/11/2012 WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A LOCAL WALMART PARKING LOT; SLOWLY WENT OVER SPEED BUMP AND SEAT STARTED MOVING ON ITS OWN. SINCE THE OCCURRENCES ARE BECOMING MORE FREQUENT DECIDED TO TAKE CARE BACK IN NOW THAT I KNOW IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IGNITION SWITCH. CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE CENTER AND SPOKE TO A REP WHO STATED THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY RECALLS FOR SUCH A MATTER AND MY BUMPER-TO-BUMPER HAD EXPIRED SO I WOULD HAVE TO INCUR COST TO REPAIR. WENT BACK TO MCCOY MILLS FORD WAS TOLD THAT THE KEYSENSE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND COST WOULD BE $390 - $400+. THIS SHOULD REALLY BE A RECALL ITEM, ESPECIALLY AFTER READING THE NUMBER OF POSTINGS ON THIS SITE FOR THE SAME THING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVED BACKWARDS. I WAS UNABLE TO REACH THE BRAKE OR GAS AND WAS NEARLY IN AN ACCIDENT AS I WAS UNAWARE AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE DOME LIGHTS AND THE EXTERIOR EXIT LIGHTS LIT UP AS WELL. SINCE THIS DATE, THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BECOME A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE SEAT SLID FORWARD INDEPENDENTLY. THE INTERIOR LIGHTING ILLUMINATED IN THE VEHICLE AS IF AS IF A DOOR HAD OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVED BACK WHILE BRAKING FOR TRAFFIC SAME AS IF I HAD TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WAS REMOVING THE KEY. A FEW MINUTES LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE BRAKING. I REALIZED IT WAS HAPPENING WHILE BRAKING BECAUSE WHEN MY LEG MOVED TOWARDS THE BRAKE PEDAL, MY KNEE TOUCHED THE KEY CHAIN, THUS IT APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH, NOT THE BRAKES, CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD SERVICE SHOP AND THEY ADVISED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM AND DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS AS THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY BULLETINS FROM FORD ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I AM TAKING IT TO THEIR SHOP AND HOPE THAT THEY CAN RE-CREATED THE PROBLEM AS THEY ADVISED THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN TRY AND FIND SOMETHING TO FIX AS THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE IGNITION BASED ON MY INFORMATION. *TR
ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER. ALL ELECTRONICS WORK. KEEP TURNING IGNITION KEY ON AND OFF SOMETIMES IT WILL START IN A FEW MINUTES OTHER TIMES IT HAS TO SIT FOR A HALF HOUR OR MORE. DOME LIGHT WILL COME ON FOR NO REASON. AFTER READING OTHERS HAVING SAME ISSUES, I TURNED ON EASY ACCESS AND SLIGHTLY TURNED IGNITION KEY AND SURE ENOUGH THE SEAT WENT BACK AND DOME LIGHT CAME ON. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO A FORD DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES, ONCE TOWED, AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THANKS TO THIS WEBSITE I NOW HAVE MORE INFORMATION AND HOPEFULLY WILL BE ABLE TO GET THIS ON GOING ISSUE FIXED. THE EASY ACCESS IS ALWAYS TURNED OFF. THE NO CRANK NO START IS THE BIG PROBLEM BECAUSE I CAN'T GO ANYWHERE FOR JUST A HALF HOUR AND BE CONFIDENT IT WILL START. *JS

DEALER REPLACED IGNITION KEY TUMBLER, SAME PROBLEM DEALER REPLACED IGNITION ELECTRICAL SWITCH, SOLUTION PENDING. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, HE HEARD A BEEPING SOUND. A WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO PULL OVER FOR SAFETY. HE WAS ABLE TO STOP AND RESET THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPAIR THE POWER TRAIN AXLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
OUR 2008 MOUNTAINEER IS EQUIPPED WITH POWER SEATS WITH SETTINGS MEMORY. NORMALLY, WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND OPEN ANY OF THE DOORS, THE DRIVER'S SEAT AUTOMATICALLY GLIDES IN REVERSE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT TO ALLOW FOR MORE ROOM TO EXIT THE CAR. WHEN THE SEAT GLIDES BACKWARDS, THE STEP BAR ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY DROPS DOWN AND OUTWARD. FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON, THE DRIVER'S SEAT (RANDOMLY) AUTOMATICALLY GLIDES BACKWARDS TO FULLEST EXTENT AND THE STEP BAR AUTOMATICALLY DROPS DOWN AS THOUGH THE ENGINE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND ONE OF THE DOORS HAS BEEN OPENED. IT HAPPENS JUST ABOUT EVERYDAY AT LEAST ONCE. IT HAPPENED 6 TIMES IN A 4 MINUTE TIME PERIOD THE OTHER DAY. EACH TIME IT IMMEDIATELY WENT BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME WAS WHEN I WAS STARTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. I ENDED UP 2' OVER IN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. LUCKILY, NO CARS WERE NEAR. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE DIRE CONSEQUENCES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO SWITCH GEARS WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE SHIFTED GEARS, IT JERKED VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
THERE IS A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT THE SEAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY GO INTO THE "EASY EXIT" POSITION. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM FOR ME AS I DRIVE WITH THE SEAT AS FAR BACK AS POSSIBLE, BUT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY WIFE. WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED YET? THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. GOD FORBID THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WORSENS AND CAUSES A FIRE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE DOME LIGHT WENT ON AND THE POWER SEAT STARTED TO MOVE BACK. I WAS UNABLE TO REACH THE BRAKES AND THIS NEARLY RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH MY 2 KIDS IN THE CAR. I HAVE OWNED 2 OTHER MOUNTAINEERS AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. THIS IS A TRUE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AGAIN OVER THANKSGIVING 2011 AND I WILL BE CALLING FORD ASAP. *TR

THE FAILURE CONTINUED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE BATTERY, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000. UPDATED 04/23/12
THE FIRST TIME THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED WAS THE FIRST DAY I DROVE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TUMBLER, BUT 1 1/2 YEARS LATER IT STARTED AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING, I MOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE BRAKES, AND MY KNEE BRUSHED ALONG THE KEY FOB DANGLING FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE SEATS THEN AUTOMATICALLY RETRACTED TO THE REAR POSITION. THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS, AND SEEMS TO BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS--PARTICULARLY BECAUSE IT HAPPENS NOT ONLY WHEN MOVING MY FOOT TO THE BRAKE, BUT ANYTIME. WHILE I REACT QUICKLY ENOUGH, I HAVE CHILDREN IN MY CAR AT ALL TIMES AND IF I WAS BRAKING TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE AS I AM ONLY 5'5". SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS ONLY GOOD FOR ONE YEAR, IT WILL NOW COST ANOTHER $400 FOR A NEW TUMBLER, BUT I'VE NEVER HAD A CAR WHERE THE TUMBLER IS REPLACED EVERY 1 1/2 YEARS OR EVER FOR THAT MATTER. AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT FOR A FATAL ACCIDENT WHERE EITHER MYSELF OR MY CHILDREN ARE SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED? *TR
SEVERAL PROBLEMS. FIRST, THE DRIVER'S POWER SEAT MALFUNCTIONS. MOVES WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION; DOESN'T MOVE WHEN KEY IS INSERTED INTO IGNITION. WAS REPAIRED ABOUT 15 MONTHS AGO; SAME PROBLEM EXISTS AGAIN. SECONDLY, REAR WINDOW POPS OPEN IF CAR IS UNLOCKED. WILL ONLY REMAIN CLOSED WHEN VEHICLE IS LOCKED. THIRDLY, REAR WIPER HAS QUIT WORKING. REALLY STRANGE SINCE IT IS RARELY USED IN 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. *TR
JUST NOTICED A SMALL GAS LEAK HAPPENING OVER THE PAST WEEK OR SO. GAS JUST INTERMITTENTLY DRIPS BEHIND LEFT REAR WHEEL REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE TANK IS FULL OR PARTIALLY EMPTY. CANNOT SEE WHERE THE LEAK IS COMING FROM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH AND THE FRONT DRIVERS SEAT BEGAN TO SLIDE BACKWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THE IGNITION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS AFFECTING THE ELECTRONIC FEATURE ON THE SEAT AND CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT INDEPENDENTLY ENGAGED INTO THE EASY EXIT POSITION AS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLASHED ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIRS. THE IGNITION AND SEAT SWITCH WERE REPLACED, HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
AT 28000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING ERRATIC, THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE ECM AND COVERED UP THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE WARRANT ENDED AND THE BATTERY FAILED AT WHICH TIME THE CAR REVERTED BACK TO DEFAULT AND CONTINUED TO BUCK AND JERK UNTIL THE CAR REACHED HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY FAILED DURING OPERATION ON THE HIGHWAY ON 3/5/20. THE ABS MODULE JUST FAILED DURING LOW SPEED OPERATION FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ALSO THE CAR INDICATED THAT THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ARE IN GOOD OPERATIONAL CONDITION. THIS ERROR COMES AND GOES CONSTANTLY AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOME LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SEAT MOVED ALL THE WAY BACK. NOW, WHEN YOU START THE CAR, THE SEAT WILL MOVE ALL THE WAY BACK AND HAS TO BE MANUALLY, WITH POWER BUTTON, PUT INTO A COMFORTABLE POSITION FOR DRIVING. THE SEAT CONTINUES TO MOVE BACK BY ITSELF AT RANDOM TIMES. MANY TIMES THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN DRIVING, EVEN AT 30 MPH OR LESS, OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD.
SINCE I PURCHASED IN 2009, ENGINE KILLS ANYTIME, MOSTLY WHEN GAS PEDAL NOT PRESSED. PULLING OUT OF PARKING LOTS, SITTING AT RED LIGHTS, OR LETTING OFF GAS ON INTERSTATE, ENGINE JUST KILLS. SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE A JOLT. I HAVE TO PUT THE SHIFT IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART THE ENGINE. RECORDS OF ALL VISITS FOR THE PROBLEM AT DEALERSHIP. NEVER COULD SOLVE PROBLEM, BUT TOO UNSAFE TO DONATE TO MY GRANDSON. IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN TO HIM BECAUSE OF A DEFECT THAT WAS NEVER FOUND, I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'D DO. CANNOT CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL. SEALED. I DO HAVE SOME FLUID STAINS ON MY DRIVEWAY. FOR YEARS I'VE REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SPECIFIED THE CONCERN FOR SAFETY BUT TO NO AVAIL. IT KILLS ANYTIME. MAY NOT DIE FOR A WEEK, OR TOMORROW, OR EVEN A MONTH. NO PARTICULAR PATTERN. FEELS LIKE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE DOME LIGHT WENT ON, THE DRIVER SEAT WENT FULLY BACK AND RECLINED A LITTLE, AND THE PEDALS MOVED. THE "CHECK FUEL FILLER INLET" LIGHT WILL COME ON. SOMETIMES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON, BUT WILL CLEAR WITHIN THE NEXT STARTUP OR TWO. CAR HAS BEEN AT DEALERS AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR ISSUE. ENGINE THROTTLE BODY AND CRANKSHAFT SENSORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. IN THE BEGINNING, THE VEHICLE WOULD DO THIS ONCE OR TWICE, THEN RUN PERFECTLY FOR MONTHS AT A TIME. EACH TIME IT IS "FIXED" BY DEALER, WHO CLAIMS THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. LATELY IT WILL STALL 4-6 TIMES WITHIN A 30 MINUTE PERIOD. LAST MONTH, I WAS ABLE TO READ CODE 2107. TODAY, IT STALLED AGAIN 6 TIMES, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS, NO CODE TO BE READ. WHEN CAR IS RUNNING NORMALLY, IT SOMETIMES HICCUPS AND SEEMS TO RUN ROUGH. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON A LONG TRIP, WITHOUT WARNING, THE MEMORY SEATS CHANGE SEAT SETTING AND WENT BACK FULLY AS IF I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITHOUT MY ASSISTANCE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE IGNITION. ON 6/6/2012 THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN (MILEAGE 60774), THIS TIME I STRUCK THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, IT WAS A GOOD THING IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS IN TRAFFIC, AND NEITHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE SAME AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE IGNITION AGAIN. THANK GOD ALL REPAIRS WERE COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY TWICE. WHILE COMING UP TO A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHEN I TRIED TO STOP FOR THE RED LIGHT. I ALSO LOST POWER STEERING. LUCKILY, I FINALLY GOT THE SUV TO STOP AFTER I PUMPED THE BRAKES AND I WAS ABLE TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE SERVICE WARRANTY; HOWEVER, IT WAS INSUFFICIENT. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A MINOR CRASH, WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE VEHICLE'S MALFUNCTIONS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,500.
I HAVE 2 BROKEN BOLTS ON MY RT SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND ONCE AND A WHILE CAN SMELL EXHAUST FUMES IN THE TRUCK. I'VE TAKEN IT TO FIVE SEPARATE MECHANICS FOR DIAGNOSTICS THE REPAIRS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND EVERYONE SAID THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS.
