I WAS INFORMED THAT IF I WAS TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT, FORD DOES NOT KNOW IF THE AIR BAGS WOULD DEPLOY. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR THE 5 STAR RATING AND ADDITIONAL COST WERE PAID FOR SIDE AIR BAGS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER TRIED TO MOVE THE FRONT SEAT BACK BY USING WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS THE POWER SEAT ADJUSTMENT SWITCH ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER REALLY WAS ADJUSTING AN ELECTRIC PEDAL ADJUSTMENT SWITCH THAT MOVED BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL CLOSER TO CONSUMER CAUSING SUDDEN ACCELERATION, CONSUMER STATES THAT THESE TWO SWITCHES SHOULD NOT BE LOCATED NEAR EACH OTHER AND THAT THE PEDAL SWITCH SHOULD ONLY BE ABLE TO BE USED WHILE IN PARK. *SLC
REAR DRIVER'S SIDE COIL SPRING FRACTURED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING PUNCTURING THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE.*MR THE MANUFACTURER HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS BUT NOT THE REAR. *NM
THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE'S COIL SPRINGS. THE REPAIRS CAN NOT BE MADE UNTIL DECEMBER 2004 BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *NM *NM

CONSUMER 2001 MERCURY SABLE BRAKE SYSTEM CAUSED 3 ACCIDENTS. *TS THE CONSUMER HAD ALREADY HAD THE ACCIDENTS BY THE TIME THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A FULL REPORT RELATING TO THE RECALL. *JB
2001 MERCURY SABLE WIPER COWL AND POLLEN AIR FILTER WAS FULL OF WATER. *TS ***NAR*** THE BLOWER AND DEFROSTER WERE INOPERABLE.
2001 FORD SABLE GS WITH BROKEN REAR COIL SPRINGS CUSTOMER STATES THAT THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT**NAR**CC THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE GETTING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE IT WAS DISCOVERED BOTH REAR SPRINGS WERE BROKEN AND THE SPRINGS AND STRUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATED HE WOULD LIKE AN INVESTIGATION TO BE DONE AND REIMBURSED FOR OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES FOR THE DEFECT. *TR

HEADREST IS TOO BIG, AND CONSUMER CANNOT SEE OUT OF REAR PASSENGER WINDOW WHEN PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPACES OR DRIVEWAY.*AK BOTH THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER HAD NO SOLUTION. THE CONSUMER WAS TRYING TO REMOVE THE HEADREST BUT WAS UNABLE. *YH
THE VEHICLE HIT A POT HOLE WHILE DRIVING, UPON IMPACT THE THE DRIVERS SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG FALSELY DEPLOYED HITTING THE CONSUMER CAUSING BRUISING AND SORENESS. NLM
DUE TO DESIGN OF HEAD RESTRAINT AND HEIGHT OF THE HEAD REST, WHEN BACKING VEHICLE OUT, CONSUMER NOTICED THERE WAS A BLIND SPOT, OBSTRUCTING DRIVER'S VISION ON ONE SIDE WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. DEALER STATED THAT OTHER CONSUMER'S HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT DESIGN OF THE HEAD REST.*AK CONSUMER STATES THERE IS ONLY 4 AND 1/2 INCHES BETWEEN SIDE OF HEADREST AND DOOR, THERE IS 5 INCHES BETWEEN TOP OF HEADREST AND CEILING AND CONSUMER CAN NOT SEE AROUND IT OR OVER IT, TOP OF CONSUMERS HEAD IS LEVEL WITH TOP OF HEADREST. *SLC
CONSUMER STATES HE IS HAVING TROUBLE TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, WHICH ALSO RESULTED IN THE STEERING WHEEL NOT TURNING.*YD
BRAKE PEDAL & ACCELERATOR ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. MANYT TIMES BOTH ARE DEPRESSED WHEN ONLY THE BRAKE WAS MEANT TO BE APPLIED. VEHICLE WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN 6+ COLLISIONS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM.*AK

THE VEHICLE'S WIRE, CONNNECTORS, STEERING WHEEL AND UNDERSIDE OF THE DASHBOARD EXPOSED BECAUSE OF NO PANEL PROTECTION. *YH
THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN RANDOMLY, EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICAL SHUTS OFF AND CANNOT BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE TOWED. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN THREE WEEKS ON A VEHICLE THAT IS TWO MONTHS OLD (PURCHASED NEW IN AUGUST). EACH TIME THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED, THE STARTER MOTOR WAS BURNED OUT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE STARTER MOTOR THREE TIMES AND EACH TIME, THE NEW STARTER MOTOR WAS BLOWN OUT. THE DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY TO EXPIRE (EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE ONLY 2,200 MILES ON THE VEHICLE) SO THAT THEY WILL NO LONGER HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS AS A WARRANTY ISSUE.
CONSUMER HAS HAD A DIFFICULT TIME ROLLING WINDOWS UP OR DOWN . THEY WOULD LOCK. DEALER AND MANUFACTURR HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. MECHANIC HAS REPAIRED WINDOW DEFECT 6 TIMES, AND HAD NOT FIXED THE DEFECT.*AK
ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL ARE SO CLOSE TOGETHER WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED CONSUMER MISTAKENLY STEPS ON ACCELERATOR. *AK CONSUMER HAS COME CLOSE TO HAVING A COLLISION DUE TO THIS DESIGN. *JG
CONSUMER WAS INFORMED OF RECALL 01V258, HOWEVER THE DEALER HAS NOT YET HEARD OF THIS RECALL, CONSUMER IS REQUESTING THAT REPAIRS BE MADE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *SLC
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD RESULTING IN A COLLISION. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN APPLYING BRAKES PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE OR CORRECT PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THERE IS A VIOLENT JARRING OF THE VEHICLE NEAR THE END OF A STOP. DEALER CLAIMS THAT IT IS A NORMAL DOWNSHIFT OF THE TRANSMISSION.*AK
WHILE IN MOTION, THE TRANSMISSION BLEW. THE VEHICLE HAD SUDDENLY JOLTED AS IF CONSUMER HAD PLACED THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL. AFTER A FEW SECONDS DURING WHICH THE VEHICLE HAD SLOWED CONSIDERABLY, IT WENT BACK INTO GEAR SUDDENLY AND RESUMED HIGHWAY SPEED. WHEN CONSUMER CHECKED BENEATH THE HOOD, THERE WAS TRANSMISSION FLUID ALL OVER THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AS AN INTERNAL FAILURE. THE TRASNMISSION WAS REPLACED. TEH NEW TRANSMISSION IS WARRANTED FOR 24 MONTHS OR 24,000 MILES. CONSUMER REQUESTS TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR A FULL 36 MONTHS OR 36,000 MILES OR TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. *JG
THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED WHILE IN IDLE, THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE ROCKED BACK AND FORTH OR FROM SIDE TO SIDE. VEHICLE ALSO PICKED UP SPEED ON ITS OWN WITHOUT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. TS *JB
WHILE DRIVING INSIDE DASH LIGHT BEGAN TO BLINK AND THEN WENT OUT. TOOK TO DEALER, DEALER REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH. *AK
THE VEHICLE'S HEAT/AIR CONDITIONER AND DEFOGGER WAS CONTROLLED BY ONE UNIT. THE UNIT FAILED AND WAS REPLACED 5 TIMES. WHEN THE UNIT FAILED, THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO CLEAR THE WINDOWS. THIS REDUCED DRIVER'S VISIBILITY. *AK *SCC *JB
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ENGAGED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
