CAR WAS PARKED AT A LOCAL COFFEE SHOP. SUDDENLY THE STEERING LOCK, PART OF THE STARTING SYSTEM WENT HAYWIRE AND DISABLED THE CAR COMPLETELY. NOW THE CAR CAN'T BE TURNED ON EVEN THOUGH THE KEY IS IN THE CAR AND THE BATTERY IS FULL. I BELIEVE NHTSA NEEDS TO BE MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AS IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE EVERY 370Z IS AT RISK OF THIS PROBLEM, LEAVING ALL POTENTIAL OWNERS STRANDED. I BELIEVE NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AS THE NISSAN GT-R HAD A CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE THE VERY SAME PART. IT IS CALLED A STEERING LOCK. *TR
ON 11/22/2012 I ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START, OR GO INTO ACCESORY MODE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DETERMINED TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR. THE CAR HAS UNDER 19.000 MILES. *TR
CAR WILL NOT START, HAD TO BE TOWED TO NISSAN, MY 2009 370Z HAD A ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK PROBLEM. PART WITH LABOR WILL BE AROUND $1000. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED BY NOW!! WILL BE LOOKING FURTHER INTO THIS PROBLEM NISSAN SHOULD BE AT FAULT 100%. *TR
IN THE 2009 AND 2010 MODEL YEARS OF THIS CAR (AND OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES), THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK ASSEMBLY IS KNOWN TO RANDOMLY FAIL, LEAVING THE CAR UNABLE TO START. THERE IS NO RECALL OR TSB FOR THIS AS OF YET, AND IT HAS AFFECTED SEVERAL NISSAN VEHICLES INCLUDING THE GTR. REVISIONS A AND B OF THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK ASSEMBLY ARE WELL KNOWN TO FAIL, AND REVISION C IS ALSO KNOWN TO FAIL HOWEVER THERE ARE FEWER OCCURRENCES. THIS HAS LEFT ME STRANDED AND UNABLE TO GET TO WORK, AND NISSAN WILL STRAIGHT UP REFUSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR LESS THAN $1000. *TR

HAHAHA FOUND OVER SIXTY OTHER NISSAN MODEL OWNERS SAME PROBLEM. MECHANISM DISCONTINUED ON 2012 MODELS . COST &1400.00 TO REPLACE. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!!! *TR

CAR WON'T START, INTELLIGENT "KEY" LIGHT IS ON IN THE DASH. IGNITION BUTTON HAS THE "LOCK" LIT UP. HEADLIGHTS, DOME LIGHTS, AND DOORS UNLOCK WITHOUT PROBLEM. CAR JUST WON'T START. TRIED SPARE FOB KEY, AND PLACED INTO FOB PART, STILL WON'T START. READ ON FORUMS, COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST EARLY 370Z, IPDM OR STEERING LOCK ASSEMBLY FAULTY. BEING REPLACED UNDER RECALL FOR GTR BUT NOT THE 370Z. MODULE HAS BEEN REPLACE ON NEWER 370ZS. *TR
THE STEERING LOCK ASSEMBLY WENT OUT, WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO NOT START AT ALL. IT LEAVES YOU STRANDED. READING THROUGH FORUMS AND TALKING TO OTHER 370Z OWNERS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. YOU CANT START YOUR CAR OR EVEN TURN IT TO ACCESSORY, WHICH MEANS IF YOU BREAK DOWN AWAY FROM HOME YOU CANT EVEN CHARGE YOUR PHONE TO BE ABLE TO CALL FOR HELP. THE PART IS QUITE EXPENSIVE AND THERE ARE WAYS TO DISABLE IT. I FEEL THAT IF THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING WITH SO MANY OF THESE CARS IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FREE OF COST. *TR
AFTER I DROVE CAR FOR 5 MINUTES, I PARKED THE CAR FOR 40 MINUTES. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR, NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR HAS A PUSH BUTTON START AND WHEN I PRESSED IT, NOTHING HAPPENED. NO SOUND, NO STARTER NOISE. NOTHING. I TRIED PUTTING THE KEY IN THE DASH. STILL NOTHING. I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE LOCKING SYSTEM HAD FAILED. $1300 TO FIX IT. I WAS TOLD THAT WHEN THE SYSTEM FAILS, THE CAR WILL NOT START. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CAR. IT WILL LEAVE YOUR STRANDED ANYWHERE AND AT ANY TIME. MANY 350Z & 370Z OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX IT. A RECALL SHOULD BE FORCED ON NISSAN! *TR
MY CAR FAILED TO START AFTER ON 3 1/2 YEARS OF OWNING IT. WHEN I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A "STEERING LOCK MECHANISM" FAILURE, AND BECAUSE MY CAR WAS 6 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, I WOULD BE REQUIRED TO PAY $1,337.96 TO GET MY CAR UP AND RUNNING AGAIN. WHILE I WAS AT THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THIS ITEM HAS HAD PROBLEMS SINCE THEY STARTED MAKING THE 370Z. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT HE'S FIXED COUNTLESS STEERING LOCKS ON THE 370 & ADVISED ME TO CONTACT NISSAN. PRIOR TO CONTACTING NISSAN, I DID SOME RESEARCH OF MY OWN & LO & BEHOLD, I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE! THERE IS A 370Z FORUM (THE370Z.COM) WHERE MULTIPLE PEOPLE EXPRESSED THEIR DISPLEASURE WITH THIS PART. I WAS 3 PAGES INTO THE DISCUSSION & HAD ALREADY COUNTED 15 INSTANCES WHERE THIS ITEM HAD FAILED. I FIND IT VERY TROUBLESOME THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT ONLY PRODUCE A FAULTY PART, BUT WON'T EVEN STAND BEHIND IT THEIR MISTAKES. I CONTACTED NISSAN VIA LETTER THROUGH THEIR CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT & WAS TOLD THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO; SINCE MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. TO ME, THAT SHOWS NISSAN DOES NOT CARE IF THEY ARE PRODUCING FAULTY PARTS OR NOT. THAT IS WHY I AM WRITING YOU. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED ONE WAY OR ANOTHER AS I'D HATE TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE HAVE THE SAME MISFORTUNE AS I DID. EVERYTHING I'VE READ STATES THAT THIS ITEM WAS OVER OILED DURING ASSEMBLY, WHICH TELLS ME 1 THING; THIS ITEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED & CUSTOMERS THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR TROUBLES. 2009 BASE, 7AT. YELLOW INTELLIGENT KEY WARNING LIGHT APPEARED AFTER GETTING GAS ABOUT A WEEK PRIOR TO INCIDENT. CAR STILL STARTED THOUGH AND THE LIGHT WENT AWAY AND CAME BACK A FEW TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF SAID WEEK, PRIOR TO INCIDENT. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, IT CAME TO MY ATTENTION THERE IS A FAULTY STEERING LOCK MECHANISM THAT IS AFFECTING MANY OWNERS OF THE 2009 370Z, CAUSING IT TO FAIL, LEAVING THE CAR UNABLE TO START. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE GTR. AFTER PARKING IN A LOCAL SHOPPING CENTER MY CAR DIED YESTERDAY (SUNDAY). YELLOW INTELLIGENT KEY LIGHT APPEARED WHILE CAR WAS PARKED. UNABLE TO START THE CAR. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER FIRST THING THIS MORNING (MONDAY). AS IT STANDS, I'M STILL WAITING TO HEAR THE DIAGNOSIS FROM THE DEALER AND IT'S MONDAY NIGHT. I REALLY HOPE NISSAN CORP. ADDRESSES THIS ONGOING ISSUE THAT SEEMS TO BE AFFECTING MANY (IF NOT ALL) OWNERS OF 09-10 370Z'S. *TR
I WENT TO START MY CAR WITH PUSH BUTTON START AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THERE WAS A LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WITH A KEY SYMBOL. I CALLED THE NISSAN DEALER, THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED. THEY CALLED ME LATER THAT DAY AND SAID IT HAD A BAD STEERING WHEEL LOCK MECHANISM. I KNOW NISSAN IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE 2009 370Z WHEEL LOCK MECHANISMS. THERE IS NO RECALL AT THE MOMENT. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. I MUST ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED TWICE AND TWO DAYS AGO IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
AFTER WORK, TRIED STARTING MY 370Z AND IT WOULD NOT START, LEAVING ME STRANDED. TRIED OTHER KEY FOB, SAME ISSUE. HAD CAR TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHO IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE AS STEERING LOCK FAILURE: $750 PART +$50 OVERNIGHT + $100 LABOR + TAX = $960 TOTAL COST. NISSAN HAS REPLACED THE PART ON THE 2009 GT-R BUT APPARENTLY IS DOING NOTHING FOR THE Z OWNERS WITH SAME ISSUE. NISSAN WILL NOT COVER THE PART SINCE I AM 18000 MILES OVER WARRANTY, YET MANY OWNERS HAVE HAD SAME FAILURE/REPAIR AS EVIDENCED BY THE FORUMS ONLINE. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AT 1800NISSAN1 AND HAVE STARTED A "CASE" BUT DO NOT EXPECT RESOLUTION. THEY AGREED TO REIMBURSE FOR A RENTAL CAR UP TO 2 DAYS $70 MAX. MEANWHILE THEY WILL SEND A REP TO REVIEW MY CAR'S DIAGNOSIS PRIOR TO INSTRUCTING THE DEALER TO COMPLETE REPAIRS WITHIN THE NEXT 2 DAYS. I FIND IT INTERESTING PERUSING ALL THE OTHER REPORTED INCIDENTS ON YOUR SITE, THERE ARE QUITE A FEW REPORTED IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER, 2012. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN OFFICIAL RECALL OF THIS FAULTY EXPENSIVE PART IN THE 370Z. *TR
I ARRIVED TO WORK AROUND 7 AM. WHEN I LEFT WORK TO GO HOME AROUND 4:30 PM, I UNLOCKED MY CAR. I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO START THE CAR LIKE NORMAL (THOUGH I DID NOTICE A LIGHT ON THE DASH THAT SAID "KEY") AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I THOUGHT MAYBE MY KEY FOB BATTERY WAS DEAD SO I PUT IT IN THE SLOT THAT ENABLES ONE TO START THE CAR WITH A DEAD FOB. THE CAR STILL DIDN'T START AFTER PUSHING THE BUTTON. I HAD MY WIFE BRING ME THE SPARE FOB TO FIND THAT IT TOO WOULD NOT START THE CAR EITHER WAY. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD HAVE TO BE TOWED SO THEY COULD LOOK AT IT. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WAS TOWED AND ONCE NISSAN LOOKED AT IT THEY SAID IT WAS THE "STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR". THE PART COST WAS 700-SOMETHING DOLLARS AND BY TIME THE LABOR WAS PUT IN AND THE ACTUATOR WAS INSTALLED, THE TOTAL COST (PART PLUS LABOR) WAS $1173. THIS IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM FOR OTHERS AS WELL. SEARCH "NISSAN STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR" IN GOOGLE OR GO TO THE370Z.COM AND DO THE SAME SEARCH. I THINK IT'S RIDICULOUS NISSAN HASN'T COME UP WITH A DIFFERENT OR MORE RELIABLE DEVICE FOR THE THEFT PROTECTION THAT THIS DEVICE OFFERS, AND IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON IT. *TR
TRIED STARTING MY 370Z AND IT WOULD NOT START, DUE TO WHAT THE NISSAN DEALER DESCRIBED AS A STEERING LOCK FAILURE. WHEN THIS OCCURS IT LEAVES THE DRIVER STRANDED AS THE CAR WILL NOT OPERATE. NISSAN REPLACED THIS PART ON THE 2012 370Z BUT HAS DONE NOTHING FOR THE PREVIOUS MODELS. NISSAN WILL NOT COVER THE PART SINCE I AM 2000 MILES OVER MY WARRANTY, YET MANY OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS FAILURE. *TR
DROVE TO WORK AS NORMAL. PARKED CAR SAME SPOT AS EVERY DAY. GOT INTO CAR TO GO TO LUNCH. CAR WONT START. IGNITION SAYS LOCKED AND THE INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT IS ON. STRANDED IN A PARK LOT ALONE. UNACCEPTABLE. NO WARRANTY. *TR
ON THE MORNING OF WEDS, OCT. 10TH, I WAS LEAVING WORK WHEN I COULD NOT START THE CAR. KNOWING THAT IT SEEMED NOT A BATTERY ISSUE, I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS AN INTELLIGENT KEY ISSUE. AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY IN THE IK WITH STILL NO LUCK, I TRIED AGAIN WITH MY SPARE IK. AGAIN, NO START. I HAD CAR TOWED TO LOCAL NISSAN WHERE THE STATED THEY HADN'T HEARD OF ANY ISSUE WITH THE 370Z. AFTER 5 HOURS OF WAITING, THE GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS RESULTS CAME BACK WITH MULTIPLE CODE POINTS INDICATING A "STEERING LOCK FAILURE". NISSAN REPS THERE STATED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING, YET WHILE IN MY WAIT, I WAS ABLE TO GOOGLE & FIND MANY NISSAN 370Z OWNERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS FAILURE. THE REPLACEMENT STEERING WHEEL LOCK ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE ORDERED & I PICKED UP THE Z ON OCT. 12TH. FRUSTRATING AFTER MISSING A FULL DAY OF WORK & DUE TO THE CAR WAS 5 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, THIS BECAME A VERY EXPENSIVE PART TO REPLACE WHEN IT'S OBVIOUS IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
STEERING LOCK FAILED AND CAR COULD NOT BE STARTED. THIS HAPPENED IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA AND SAFETY WAS A HUGE ISSUE. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AS NOTED ON THE370Z.COM. *TR
LOCK SET - STEERING MODELS JF00A,JF00B AND JF00C ARE FAULTY. RECALL WAS DONE ON NISSAN GT-R FOR THE FAULTY PART. THE SAME PART IS IN THE 2009-11 370Z AND SUFFERS THE SAME DEFECTS BUT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. CAR WILL NOT START WITH A FAULTY LOCK SET - STEERING. PART IS KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE AS INDICATED BY THE RECALL FROM NISSAN (CAMPAIGN ID# P0309) FOR THE IDENTICAL PART IN THE 2009 GT-R. NISSAN MUST RECALL THIS FAULTY PART IN THE 370Z AND REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PAID FOR COSTLY REPAIRS AND/OR REPLACEMENT PARTS DUE TO A PART KNOW TO NISSAN (AS EVIDENCED BY THE GT-R RECALL) TO BE FAULTY. *TR

THE 370Z USES A KEYLESS IGNITION SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM FAILED AND I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO START THE CAR. I AM BEING TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT IS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK SYSTEM. THERE ARE MANY MANY OTHER 2009-2010 370Z OWNERS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE AT APROX 30-40K MILES. THIS APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
SLAVE CYLINDER ON MY 370Z HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. NISSAN PUT AN INFERIOR SLAVE CYLINDER IN THEIR 370Z MODELS. MY SLAVE CYLINDER HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WHILE SITTING AT A STOP. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. THE TECH THAT REPLACED THE PART SAID THEIR WAS VIRTUALLY NOTHING LEFT FROM THE SLAVE CYLINDER BECAUSE IT WAS MADE OUT OF INFERIOR MATERIAL. NISSAN WANTED $2,000 TO REPLACE AND INSTALL THE SAME INFERIOR PART BECAUSE TO THEM IT IS NOT CONSIDERED PART OF THE DRIVE TRAIN EVEN THOUGH THIS PART IS REQUIRED FOR THE DRIVE TRAIN TO OPERATE. THIS ITEM SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED WEAR AND TEAR. HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A PLACE THAT SPECIALIZES IN NISSAN 370Z TO GET AN UPGRADED PART PUT INTO MY VEHICLE FOR LESS THAN HALF THE COST NISSAN WANTED. CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT AND FEEL IS BETTER THAN BRAND NEW NO THANKS TO NISSAN. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE IS INACCURATE AND/OR DEFECTIVE FUEL SENDER UNIT CAUSING THE GAUGE TO NOT SHOW A FULL TANK AFTER FILLING UP. IT RENDERS THE GAUGE UNRELIABLE IN DETERMINING THE AMOUNT OF FUEL LEFT. ALSO, THE CAR HAS A FUEL STARVATION ISSUE WHEN MAKING SHARP RIGHT TURNS WITH LESS THAN A QUARTER TANK. IT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL AND WON'T START UNTIL YOU EITHER LET IT SIT OR FILL WITH MORE GAS. *TR
I HAVE HEARD MANY, MANY STORIES OF STEERING LOCK FAILURE ON THESE CARS MADE FROM 2008-2010 NISSAN'S MORE EXPENSIVE SPORTS CAR, RHE GT-R, HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME PARTS AND WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL. WILL SOMETHING BE DONE? PEOPLE ARE BENG STRANDED ALL OVER WHEN THEIR VEHICLES WON'T START! *TR
STEERING WHEEL LOCK UNIT FAILED IN LOCK POSITION DISABLING VEHICLE. OUT OF WARRANTY REPLACEMENT REQUIRED. RESEARCH INDICATED THAT THIS PART IS BASED ON A FAULTY DESIGN THAT HAS SUBSEQUENTLY BEEN REMOVED FROM LATER MODEL YEARS BUT DUE TO THIS DEFECT AND FREQUENT FAILURE RATE I EXPECT TO HAVE TO REPLACE IT ANNUALLY AT A COST OF OVER $500 PER INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY DISABLED WHEN THIS PART FAILS REQUIRING THE VEHICLE TO BE TOWED TO A SERVICE STATION AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. THIS PART IS CLEARLY A FAULTY DESIGN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND REPLACED WITH A DESIGN THAT DOESN'T FAIL ANNUALLY OR ELIMINATED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN 370Z. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTELLIGENT KEY INDICATOR WARNING LAMP WAS ILLUMINATED, WHICH PREVENTED HER FROM TURNING ON THE IGNITION OR ANY OTHER FEATURE ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 33,000.
ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT 30,295 MILES (DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL USE) ON 5/16/12. UPON RETURN AND ON MAY 17, 2012, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THE CLUTCH PEDAL WOULD REMAIN AT THE BASE OF THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING, THE CLUTCH PEDAL WOULD EVENTUALLY CAME BACK TO IT'S NORMAL POSITION. APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS LATER, THIS RE-OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO 3RD GEAR, (LEAVING ME STRANDED IN TRAFFIC)...EVERYTHING EVENTUALLY WENT BACK TO NORMAL. AT 38,607, THE CLUTCH PEDAL ONCE AGAIN REMAINED ON THE FLOOR BOARD & ON 1/26/13, THE DEALER DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE FAILED CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER & MASTER CYLINDER. THIS PART (SLAVE CYLINDER) IS A COMMON FAILURE IN THE 350Z, G37, 370Z VEHICLES (AS INDICATED IN VARIOUS FORUMS) BECAUSE OF IT'S POOR DESIGN AND HAS A HISTORY OF FAILURE. DEAR NHTSA, I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THE NISSAN 370Z. TODAY AS I WAS COMING OUT OF A SHARP RIGHT HAND OFF RAMP (FROM I-91N INTO 15N IN HARTFORD, CT). THE CAR EXPERIENCED FUEL STARVATION IN WHICH ALL GAS SLOSH TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS STRAIGHTENED OUT AFTER THE TURN, THE FUEL NEVER RETURNED TO THE RIGHT SIDE WHERE THE FUEL PUMP IS. SO DESPITE HAVING 4.5 GALLONS LEFT IN THE GAS TANK, MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP NOT BEING ABLE TO GET ANY FUEL. I SAT THERE DESPERATELY TRYING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, I ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE THE STATE POLICE CALLED A FLATBED TO GET ME TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION. IT TOOK MY CAR 14.3 GALLONS TO RESTART (CAR HAS APPROX. 18.7 GALLON CAPACITY). I WANT TO LET NHTSA KNOW HOW DANGEROUS THE SITUATION IS AS THE CAR CAN SHUT DOWN AFTER ANY SHARP RIGHT TURN WHEN THE CAR IS BELOW 1/2 A TANK OF GAS. I HAVE A 2009 370Z. IT IS DAILY DRIVEN (NO CLUTCH DUMPING, BURN OUT, TRACK, RACING, ETC.). THE CLUTCH IS OEM. AT 16,158 MILES I WAS LEAVING WORK. I WAS GETTING READY TO PULL OUT OF THE PARKING LOT WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL SUNK TO THE FLOOR. THE MORE I PRESS DOWN, THE MORE PRESSURE WAS LOST. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAILED CONCENTRIC SLAVE CYLINDER. THIS IS PROBABLY THE SAME PART THAT IS USED IN THE '07+ 350Z WITH SIMILAR ISSUES.
