OK 3 OR 2 WEEK AFTER I BROUGHT THE CAR IT START RUNNING HOT THE IT START TO GET TO THE POINT WHEN IT DO RUN HOT AND I HIT THE GAS THE CAR WANT GO IT WAS LIKE I WAS TRYING TO MAKE THE CAR GO FAST BUT IT WAS GOING SLOW SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE PLACE I BROUGHT IT FROM AND HE DIDN'T DO MUCH SO I FOUND A MECHANIC AND HE RAN AT TEST ON ME AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS SOME RECALLS ON PART OF MY CAR AND THE PERSON HEAD IT BEFORE ME DIDN'T GET IT DONE LIKE THE CAM SENSOR ,CRANK SENSOR AND MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND A TIME THING THE I TOOK IT BACK TO THE PLACE I BROUGHT IT FROM HE SAID HE CAN DO NOTHING AND SOMEONE TOLD ME TO TURN TO YOU ALL SO WHAT CAN I DO I PUT TO MUCH MONEY IN TO IT TO GET IT FIX I CHANGE THE WATER PUMP THE HOLES AND THE THERMOSTAT SO WHAT SHOULD I DO PLEASE HELP.... *TR
AFTER ONE OF MY REGULARLY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES I NOTICED THAT MY OIL LIGHT FLICKERED. CHECKED THE DIP AND NOTICED I WAS EXTREMELY LOW IN OIL. IT HAD BEEN ABOUT 400MILES SINCE THE LAST OIL CHANGE. A QUART EVERY 100 MILES. NO SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST, NO LEAK WHEN PARKED SO I BRING IT TO A MECHANIC. NOTIFIED ME THAT ITS POSSIBLY MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER WHICH WILL COST $2K SINCE THIS MODEL HAS 2 OR IT COULD BE THE ENGINE RUNNING A TOTAL OF $3K TO $6K FOR THE ENGINE AND INSTALL PLUS THE $2K FOR THE CONVERTERS MAKING THE GRAND TOTAL OF $5K TO $8K. DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT IS LOOKING LIKE THESE CARS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THE CONVERTERS AND ULTIMATELY THE DEMISE TO THE ENGINE. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL. COLLEGE AND BROKE. *TR
CAR WAS PURCHASED ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO, USED. IT DROVE WELL AND ANY MAINTENANCE SHOWED THE CAR IN GREAT SHAPE UNTIL RECENTLY. THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A RATTLING NOISE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC TO FIND THAT THE CAR WAS EXTREMELY LOW ON OIL, WHICH HAD NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE AND OIL CHANGES DONE ON SCHEDULE. THE CAR NOW GOES THROUGH ABOUT ONE QUART OF OIL PER TWO WEEKS. I WAS TOLD THE CAR WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE. NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED WHILE DRIVING TO INDICATE THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE OR THE LOW OIL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE MOVED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE IT WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC BUT HE WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 170,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING AN OIL CHANGE PERFORMED, HE NOTICED THAT THE UNDER CARRIAGE OF THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRAME WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A STRANGE NOISE AS SMOKE BEGAN TO BELLOW FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THAT BITS AND PIECES OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE BECOMING CAUGHT IN THE ENGINE. HE WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V084000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE) BUT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,316.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR PAN RUSTED. HOLES ON BOTH SIDES. *TR
CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT AND DESTROYED ENGINE. NOW CAR USES 1 QT OIL EVERY 100 MILES. NISSAN CLAIMS ENGINE IS OLD AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO. TOO MANY CARS HAVE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM FOR IT TO JUST BE OLD ENGINES AND NOW THE OUT OF WARRANTY PEOPLE ARE PAYING FOR IT. *TR
THE FLOORS IN THE ALTIMAS ARE ROTTING OUT, THIS IS 2002,2003,2004,2005,2006 AND MAYBE LATER MODELS. OBVIOUSLY AN ENGINEERING, DESIGN DEFECT. JUST READ ABOUT THIS AND CHECKED MY DAUGHTERS 2002, JUST CARPET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVEN'T CHECKED DEEPER, BUT OTHER HAVE REPORTED ROTTED SEAT SUPPORTS. NISSAN BODY SHOP QUOTED 950.00 TO REPAIR/REPLACE ROTTED AREA. I AM LUCKY THAT I AM ABLE TO COVER THE COST OF HER REPAIR, OTHER MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. THIS INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE AIRED IN THE NATIONAL PRESS BEFORE WE HAVE A SEAT FAILURE IN A CRASH THAT RESULTS IN DEATH. *TR

ON THE UNDERNEATH OF THE 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA THE FLOOR IS RUSTING AND CREATING A HOLE. I HAVE BEEN TO DIFFERENT BODY SHOPS TO GET AN ESTIMATE AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE SEEN MANY ALTIMA'S WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM RECENTLY. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE NISSAN BODY SHOP THEY ALSO SAID THEY HAVE SEEN MANY OF THE ALTIMA'S WITH THIS DEFECT. *TR
ON ABOVE DATE FOUNT THAT THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL RUST ON THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER FLOORBOARDS. THERE IS NO OTHER RUST ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO CAR BEING GARAGE-KEPT AT HOME. RUST IS COMPLETELY THROUGH THE FLOORBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN A FEW SMALL AREAS. COST TO REPAIR AT ONE BODY SHOP IS $2303.00. ESTIMATOR AT SHOP STATED THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A CAR THAT IS THIS OLD AND WITH THE MILEAGE IT HAS. HAVE FOUND ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALTIMAS FROM 2002 TO AT LEAST 2006 MODEL YEARS. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. NISSAN DEALER HAS BEEN USED FOR MULTIPLE REPAIRS AND OIL CHANGES AND NEVER INDICATED THE RUST PROBLEM WHICH IS VISIBLE UNDER THE CAR (THEY DO A SAFETY INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE AS PART OF THEIR NORMAL SERVICE PROCEDURE WHEN THEY HAVE POINTED OUT OTHER ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE OVER THE YEARS). I TAKE MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN CHANTILLY, VA. *TR
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS PERFORMING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE; HE STATED THAT THE EXHAUST AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO CONSUMING OIL EXCESSIVELY. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER SYSTEM, 3RD SUCH REPAIR. OXYGEN SENSORS, A NEW ECM REFLASH AND A NEW ENGINE THE 1ST CATALYST HAD APPARENTLY CAUSE PARTS TO BE SUCKED INTO THE ENGINE WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY LED TO THE FAILURE OF ADDITIONAL CONVERTERS AND ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION . THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE IS HAVING A REMANUAFACTURED ENGINE, CATALYST AND SENSORS REPLACED AT A COST OF NEARLY $3000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FLOORBOARD HAD RUST DAMAGE SO SEVERE THAT IT WOULD TAKE VERY LITTLE PRESSURE FROM HER FOOT TO COMPLETELY GO THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. A DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A BODY SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
LIKE OTHER CUSTOMERS, MY 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA V6 DEVELOPED A RUSTED FLOOR BOARD IN BOTH THE FRONT AREAS WITH METALS FLAKING OFF EVEN AT AN EARLY TIME. I DIDN'T REALIZE THERE WERE A LOT OF US HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL.. THIS IS THE ONLY PART OF THE CAR THAT IS VERY BADLY RUSTED, ALL OF THE OTHER PARTS HAVE BARELY ANY RUST. I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT REALLY NEEDS INVESTIGATION. *TR
CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN IT STOPPED RUNNING. DIAGNOSIS: THE CAM POSITION SENSORS WERE BAD AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT (REPLACED 2 SENSORS). THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED AFTER REPLACING THE SENSOR WITH PARTS OBTAINED FROM THE DEALER. THERE IS A RECALL ON VEHICLE WHICH WAS NEVER FULFILLED, HOWEVER, NISSAN CLAIMS IT DOES NOT AFFECT MY VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HER VEHICLE HAD AN OUTSTANDING RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V251000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY) HOWEVER NONE FOR THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 180,000.
DISCOVERED RUST THRU IN PASSENGER FLOOR PAN DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. CAR WAS GARAGE KEPT MORE THAN 80% OF TIME. WELL MAINTAINED. NO DAMAGE TO THIS AREA FROM ACCIDENTS. NO IMMERSION. DISCOVERED ON THE INTERNET THAT THE PROBLEM COMMON TO THIS MAKE AND MODEL OVER MULTIPLE YEARS. HAVE NEVER HAD A FLOOR PLAN RUST THRU IN ANY VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS EXHAUST GASES MAY ENTER CABIN. *TR
MY 2002 ALTIMA, DRIVEN BY MY SON, WAS BEING CHECKED OUT FOR A PROBLEM WITH A BAD TIRE. WHILE UP ON THE LIFT, THE MECHANIC IDENTIFIED TWO HOLES IN THE FLOOR PAN. ONE IS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND ONE ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE, EACH AT THE LOCATION OF A SEAT FLOOR MOUNT BOLT. NOT EXACTLY SAFE. THIS CAR WILL NOT PASS STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA SAFETY INSPECTION AS IS. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED NISSAN, AS THAT IS MOST LIKELY FRUITLESS, BASED ON THE MANY COMMENTS I'VE ALREADY READ ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. NISSAN OBVIOUSLY HAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS DESIGN. EVEN IF THE CAR IS 10 YEARS OLD, THE FLOOR PAN SHOULDN'T BE ROTTING AWAY. THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA OBVIOUSLY THINKS THIS IS NOT SAFE. WHY DOESN'T THE NHTSA AGREE? WHAT ARE YOU GUYS WAITING FOR? MY CAR HAS BEEN BURNING OIL AT A VERY FAST RATE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS TURNED ON, AND MY GAS HAS LOWERED. MY CHECK OIL LIGHT HAS NEVER TURNED ON, NOT EVEN ONCE IN THE 2 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED IT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE SPECIALIST TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED WHEN HE WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE TWO HOLES LOCATED UNDER THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FLOOR PANS ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE ARE RUSTED THRU TO THE POINT OF THE ONLY BARRIER BETWEEN THE ROAD AND DRIVER/PASSENGER IS THE FLOOR UPHOLSTERY. IN VIEWING NISSAN FORUMS ONLINE, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA. *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF MY 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA AND I BOUGHT THE CAR IN THE FALL OF 2001. I RELIGIOUSLY CHANGE THE OIL ON TIME AND HAVE PROPERLY MAINTAINED THE CAR. THE CAR HAS EXTREMELY LOW MILEAGE FOR ITS AGE. I HAVE RECEIVED ALL OF THE NISSAN RECALLS. SINCE DECEMBER 2001, I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM OF THE ENGINE STALLING WITHOUT WARNING AND ALSO, AT TIMES, LOSING ALL POWER IN THE CAR, AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION AND THAT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE TWO ACCIDENTS. AFTER FOUR RECALLS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM OF THE ENGINE STALLING WITHOUT WARNING, THIS YEAR THE CAR IS AGAIN STALLING WITHOUT WARNING AND I AM TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE CRANK SENSOR, WHICH WAS REPLACED IN 2004 BY ONE OF NISSAN RECALLS. I AM TOLD A CRANK SENSOR SHOULD LAST OF THE LENGTH OF CAR'S LIFE. I AM ALSO TOLD THAT THOSE WHO RECEIVED THE 2009 VERSION OF THE SENSOR HAVE HAD NO SUBSEQUENT PROBLEMS ONLY THOSE WHO HAD THE OLDER SENSORS ARE APPARENTLY AT GRAVE RISK. I WAS IN THE CAR TRYING TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD SON IN THE BACK OF CAR WHEN MY ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND WHEN THE ENGINE DIES I AM WITHOUT POWER. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE LAST RECALL THAT THE CAR STALLED ON ME. THIS MAKES THE STALLING PROBLEM EVEN MORE DEADLY. PEOPLE THINK THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED BY THE EARLIER MULTIPLE RECALLS AND ARE INSTEAD DRIVING CARS THAT ARE TIME BOMBS. NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. *TR
I OWN A 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA THAT HAS 98,000 MILES UPON LIFTING THE CAR THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS SHOWING RUST ON BOTH THE DRIVER`S AND PASSENGER`S SIDE. IT IS AN EXCELLENT CAR BUT IT IS BASICALLY TRASH NOW. NISSAN IS SO IRRESPONSIBLE THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND THEY SHOULD RECALL ALL ALTIMA`S WITH THIS PROBLEM. TOYOTA IS WAY MORE RESPONSIBLE WHEN THEIR CAR`S HAVE A PROBLEM THEY ARE QUICK TO RECALL,IT IS RIDICULOUS. NISSAN IS RIDICULOUS!!!!! *TR

THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND HAVE A PRICE QUOTED. THE FRONT FLOOR PANEL WAS ATTACHED TO THE FRONT SEATS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY COULD PUSH THEIR FOOT THROUGH THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,834.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR A ROUTINE OIL AND BRAKE SERVICE WHEN THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WERE TWO RUSTED AREAS ON THE FRONT FRAME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO RESEAL THE RUSTED AREAS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, PROVIDING NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THERE WERE ALSO NO RECALLS COVERING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MIELAGES WERE 66,000.

DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW IN THE FLOOR BOARD, DRIVER AND PASSENGERS SIDE, THE FLOORS HAVE RUSTED OUT. THERE WAS 2 DRAIN HOLES ON BOTH FLOOR BOARDS WHICH WELCOMED SAND/SALT TO THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED IN 2005 FROM NISSAN OF MIDDLETOWN NY. THEY DID NOT MAKE ME AWARE OF THE ISSUE AT THE TIME. AT SOME POINT A TAR TAPE OVERLAY WAS PLACED OVER THE HOLES TO DISGUISE THE HOLE FROM THE INSIDE. THIS SEEMS DECEIVING TO ME AND NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS NO OTHER RUST ON THE VEHICLE. I FEAR THE CAR TO BE UNSAFE FOR MYSELF AND FAMILY. THESE HOLES COMPROMISE THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME BOTH FRONT SIDE FLOOR PANELS ARE RUSTED THROUGH. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY OTHER CONSUMERS WHO DRIVE NISSAN ALTIMA'S HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 3/23/12. I HAD AN OIL CHANGE ON 3/26/12. THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A RATTLING SOUND ON 4/20/12 AND A MECHANIC RECOMMENDED AN OIL CHANGE BECAUSE THE OIL WAS BLACK AND LOW. HE DID THE OIL CHANGE. THE NOISE WENT AWAY AFTER THE OIL CHANGE. THEN ON 5/6/12 THE RATTLING NOISE CAME BACK. I CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS EXTREMELY LOW. I ADDED 3 QUARTS. THEN ON 5/16/12, I CHECKED OIL AGAIN AND HAD TO ADD 1 1/2 QUARTS OF OIL. THERE ARE NO LEAKS UNDER THE CAR OR INSIDE THE HOOD. THE CAR IS CONSUMING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL. I ONLY DRIVE THE CAR ABOUT 100 MILES PER WEEK AND SOMETIMES LESS. . AND THE "CHECK OIL" LIGHT NEVER COMES ON TO INDICATE THAT IT IS LOW. I NOW HAVE TO CHECK THE OIL EVERY OTHER DAY BECAUSE I AM WORRIED THAT IT WILL USE IT ALL. I HAVE TO KEEP QUARTS OF OIL IN THE TRUNK, IN CASE IT RUNS LOW AGAIN. THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

I BELIEVE THAT THIS ENGINE DEFECT CAUSED THE PRE-CATALYST TO OVERHEAT AND DAMAGED THE CATALYST SUBSTRATE. THESE PARTICLES ENTERED THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER AND PROBABLY SCOURED THE CYLINDER WALLS PRIOR TO RECALL 03V-084 IMPLEMENTATION. THIS RESULTED IN INCREASED OIL CONSUMPTION THROUGHOUT THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IN TURN ADVERSELY AFFECTED THE HEATER SYSTEM NOT WORKING PROPERLY, COOLANT RESERVES DISAPPEARING, ENGINE STARTED TO HEAT-UP, AND ULTIMATELY ENGINE SEIZED-UP. PRIOR TO THIS I HAD TO BE ADDING ENGINE OIL AND COOLANT EVERY TWO TO THREE WEEKS SINCE ENGINE WOULD START TO MAKE NOISE AND START TO HEAT-UP, BUT THERE WAS NO LEAKS OR ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT TURN ON. PREVIOUSLY, MECHANICS DID NOT SEE ANY PROBLEMS WHEN TAKING IT FOR OIL CHANGES AND SERVICE. IT IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATE THAT IT WILL COST ME $2100 TO $5500 TO FIX THIS.
