FLOORS ON BOTH DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SIDES OF MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA ARE RUSTED RIGHT THROUGH. *TR
I RECENTLY EXPERIENCED MY VEHICLE STALLING AS I WAS DRIVING. IT TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES FOR ME TO RESTART LEAVING ME VENERABLE TO A VEHICLE CRASH. THE SAME EVENING I LEARNED OF RECALL# 07V527000. THE FOLLOWING DAY I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE RECALL RESOLVED. THEY ADVISED THE RECALL ONLY COVERS REPROGRAMMING COMPUTER NOT REPLACING DEFECTIVE CRANK SENSOR. I FEEL THAT REPROGRAMMING COMPUTER WILL NOT RESOLVE SAFETY ISSUE AS THE SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD FAIL EVEN WITH REPROGRAMMING COMPUTER. I WAS CHARGED 96.00 DOLLARS TO HAVE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED. DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE PART. TO MY UNDERSTANDING MANY OTHER ALTIMA OWNERS EXPERIENCE THIS SAME PROBLEM AND ARE FORCED TO PAY FOR DEFECTIVE PARTS THAT FAIL.DEALER DID NOT OFFER TO REPROGRAM COMPUTER THEY INSISTED THAT ONLY REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE PART WOULD RESOLVE MY ISSUE WHICH WAS NOT COVERED BY RECALL. *TR
PASSENGER FLOORBOARD RUSTED OUT AND WAS REPAIRED AT A COLLISION REPAIR SHOP IN DEC. 2013. I FELT BRANCHES AND STICKS THROUGH THE FLOORBOARD. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 8" IN DIAMETER. IN JUNE 2015 I FOUND WHERE THE DRIVERS SIDE IS NOW RUSTED OUT. THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED THE CAR HAS HAD DEEP RUBBER FLOOR MATS IN THE WINTER PASSENGER SIDE REPAIR DONE AT 122,000 MILES DRIVER'S SIDE REPAIR DONE AT 139,000 MILES UPDATED 11/08/2017*CN
DURING A ROUTINE TIRE ROTATION, MY MECHANIC NOTICED THAT BOTH OF MY FLOOR BOARDS ARE RUSTED THROUGH. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS CAR FOR TWO YEARS. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE FROM OTHER PEOPLE. *TR
FLOORPAN ON THIS VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY RUSTING THROUGH! CAR HAS LESS THAN 100K MILES ON IT AND WAS A CAR-FAX ONE OWNER! *TR
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR OVERHEATED CAUSING BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR ENGINE STOPED RUNNING CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL. *TR
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON CONTINUALLY, WHEN I ASKED DEALER TO LOOK AT THIS, WHILE IN FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT, HE STATED IT WAS DIFFICULT TO TAKE APART THE DASH TO SEE WHY LIGHT STAYED ON. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE CONCERNED WITH THIS, THAT IT MAY BE A SAFETY ISSUE?11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART THE DAY AFTER THE INITIAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS ANTIFREEZE ON THE SPARK PLUGS, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE CYLINDERS UNDER THE TIMING BELT WERE CRACKED AS A RESULT, THE HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED AND THAT THE DEBRIS FROM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DRAWN UP INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE CYLINDERS IN THE MOTOR, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER THE MOTOR WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.....UPDATED 04/08/15 *BF
I HAVE A 2005 ALTIMA AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS. I REPALCED THE SENORS BASED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC READING FROM TWO REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOPS. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING BACK ON. I GOOGLED AND FOUND OUT THAT SEVERAL ALTIMA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD BASED ON MY VIN #, I'M NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THAT MAKES NO SENSE. THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME AN ARM AND A LEG AND WILL ONLY DO IT FOR FREE IF NISSAN SAYS SO. I'M SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING AN OIL CHANGE PERFORMED, HE WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE FLOOR BOARDS ON BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER'S SIDES WERE COMPLETELY CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

DRIVING TO WORK...AT 25 MPH .... THE ENGINE CAME ON .....ALONG WITH THE OIL LIGHT....AND ALL OF THE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD....AND THEN THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP I THE MIDDLE OF STREET. THERE WERE FIVE CARS BEHIND THAT HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING MY CAR. *TR

AFTER READING SOME BLOGS ABOUT PEOPLE DISCUSSING NISSAN ALTIMA FLOORBOARD RUST ISSUES, I CHECKED MY 2005 ALTIMA SER AND NOTICED THAT BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARDS ARE RUSTED THROUGH. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED IN A GARAGE AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. IT APPEARS THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO NHTSA AND TO NISSAN BUT NISSAN HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE EXHAUST FUMES CAN ENTER THE CABIN. *TR
THE FLOOR BOARDS HAVE RUSTED THROUGH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THERE IS NO RUST ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE VEHICLE BUT IS THROUGH THE FLOOR. THERE ARE MANY ISSUES REPORTED FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT STEMS FROM A DESIGN FLAW THAT LEAVES AN OPEN AREA BETWEEN 2 PLATES ON E FLOOR BOARDS SUCH THAT RUST WILL INEVITABLY FORM IN AN ENVIRONMENT THAT HAS WINTER. UPON ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THEY UNDERSTOOD MY CONCERN BUT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE OPUS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. IT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX THEIR DESIGN FLAW THAT POSES A SAFETY ISSUE (FUMES MAY ENTER THE CABIN) BECAUSE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THE RUST CLEARLY FORMED MANY YEARS AGO BUT WAS NOT RECOGNIZED WHILE THE WARRANTY WAS STILL VALID. *TR
UNDERCARRIAGE RUST (2005 ALTIMA 3.5 SE) - THANKFULLY I WENT TO GET MY OIL CHANGED AT A NEW PLACE WHERE THEY USE A LIFT VERSUS JUST SERVICING FROM UNDERNEATH THE SERVICE DECK.ONCE THE CAR WAS RAISED, THE MECHANIC NOTICED MY PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH!! MY UNCLE HAD JUST TOLD ME HE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING WITH HIS 2004 MAXIMA. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR US NISSAN OWNERS. I FIND IT SO HARD TO BELIEVE NISSAN WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. HOW CAN THE CARS NOT HAVE ANY RUST ANYWHERE ELSE, BUT SPECIFIC PASSENGER AND/OR DRIVER UNDERCARRIAGE AREAS?? CAR WOULD COMPLETEY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING 55 PLUS.AT ABOUT 20 MILES OR MORE AND ON FREEWAY WAS VERY DANGEOURS. WOULD NOT TURN ON UNTILE 20 MINS. LATER AND NOTICE IF ENGINE WAS WARM IT SHUT IT DOWN. HOPEFULLY THIS WORKS BUT CAR HAS TO HAVE MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACE AND BEING HANDICAP NEED THIS CAR.IV NOTICE 2.5 HAS SAME PROBLEMS AND RECALLED. IF I HAD BEEN IN MIDDLE LANE OR NO AREA TO PULL OVER ACCIDENT WOULD OF HAPPEN PLUS YOU LOSE ALL POWER STEERING. *TR
TOOK CAR FOR STATE INSPECTION ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT MY DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR BOARD IS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH TO THE CARPET. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE NISSAN SHOULD HAVE ADDRESSED A LONG TIME AGO. *TR
NISSAN SAID MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL FOR THE CAMSHAFT AND SENSOR..WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED..DUE TO THE VECHILE JUST STALLING ALL OF A SUDDEN...VERY DANGEROUS..IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR A PART...THEN THERE IS A RECALL..IT CANNOT BE EITHER OR. PLEASE RESPOND
IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREA, 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND IN THE FAR LEFT LANE MOVING ABOUT 45, THE CAR DIES. I CAN NOT GET MY CAR TO START. CARS WERE FLYING ON ALL SIDES OF ME EVEN IN THE TURNING LANE NEXT TO ME ON THE LEFT. I COULD NOT GET OUT OF MY CAR. I CALLED THE POLICE BECAUSE I THOUGHT I COULD BE KILLED. THE POLICE SAID THAT THIS WAS DANGEROUS AND MANAGED TO STOP ALL LANES OF TRAFFIC. THEY BUMPED MY CAR OFF THE ROAD AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. THE TOW TRUCK TOOK ME AND MY CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. I HAD TO PAY $634.35 FOR THE TOW TRUCK AND THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR REPLACEMENT. NO RECALL. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER SPECIALIST IN TN. TODAY ON 10/9/13 AFTER CALLING EVERYDAY SINCE 9/13/13, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART IS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. IT IS JUST WHAT HAPPENS IN MAINTAINING THE CAR. I HAD JUST SPENT ALMOST $1000 IN A REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THE TEAM LEADER USED THE EXAMPLE OF REPLACING THE TIMING BELT. DON'T SEE WHY THIS IS THE SAME. I ALMOST GOT KILLED AND SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE ALREADY LOST THEIR LIFE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR NISSAN! IF I WAS ON I 75 I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA SE-R THE CAR HAS A CLEAN CARFAX AND I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED FORM THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER WITH 15,000 MILES. I AM A AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN AND NOTICED ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO WHILE PERFORMING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE VEHICLE HAD AROUND 101,000 MILES THAT THERE WAS 2 RUSTED SPOTS UNDERNEATH THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGERS FLOOR BOARDS ARE THE FLOOR BOARD WAS CRACKED SLIGHTLY. I TOOK NOTE OF IT AND CONTINUED ON MY WAY. WELL I JUST PERFORMED MY ROUTINE OIL CHANGE NOW HAVE 105,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND AGAIN NOTICED THOSE SAME 2 RUST SPOTS ARE NOW ROTTED WITH A HOLE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A SODA CAN, THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING ALSO NOTE THAT THE PART OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE THAT IS ROTTING WAS TREATED FROM THE DEALER WITH A COATING TO PREVENT THIS FROM OCCURRING. OBVIOUSLY THIS SHOULD BE A DEFECT FROM THE DEALER AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT WILL CONTINUE TO ROT THE PASSENGER FLOOR OUT OF THE VEHICLE. ANYONE WITH A 2002-2006 ALTIMA SHOULD HAVE THERE VEHICLE CHECKED FOR THIS AS THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS OVER THE INTERNET. CONTACT THE NISSAN COOPERATION AND COMPLAIN WE TOGETHER SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET THIS RECALLED. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD DETACHED AND CAUSED ENGINE DAMAGE. THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WHEN RESTARTING MY CAR WHEN DRIVING FOR A WHILE. I RESTART MY CAR AND IT HESITATE TO CRANK OVER THE ENGINE SHAKES LIKE IT MISFIRING. ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT TURNS ON AND ENGINE CRAWLS TO A HALT AND TURNS OFF. I TOOK IT TO MEINEKE THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD CAM SENSOR COST ME 130 TO REPLACE AND ENGINE WORKED FINE FOR 4 MONTHS. SAME PROBLEM AGAIN TOOK IT'S TO NISSAN OF MANHATTAN THEY SAID THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. WORKED FOR ABOUT 4 MORE MONTHS NOW LOOKS LIKE I'M GOING TO NEED THE CRANK SENSOR REPLACED AGAIN. THERE A RECALL ON MY MODEL CAR BUT NOT MY VIN NUMBER. *TR
FLOOR BOARD ON PASSENGER SIDE FRONT HAS RUSTED SEVERELY. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE TO HOFFMAN NISSAN IN WEST SIMSBURY CT AT LEAST TWICE EVERY YEAR AND THEY NEVER MENTIONED A PROBLEM. THIS IS NOW A SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RUST AFTER I HAD AN OIL CHANGE AT THE LOCAL GARAGE WHO RECOMMENDED AN AUTO BODY SHOP DOWN THE ROAD. I HAD THE AUTO BODY SHOP LOOK AT IT TODAY 8/28/13. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR 3 TO 5 YEARS. THEY TOLD ME THAT EVERY TIME IT WAS PUT ON A LIFT IT WAS OBVIOUS. WHAT DO THEY LOOK AT FOR SAFETY?? EVERY VISIT FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE I AM TOLD THAT I NEED ADDITIONAL WORK - ALWAYS OVER $500 WORTH. I AM CONVINCED THIS WAS IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF YEARS AGO. HOW MANY REPAIRS DID I APPROVE THAT DIDN'T REALLY NEED TO BE DONE. SAD TO SAY THAT I WILL NEVER AGAIN TRUST THE HOFFMAN DEALERSHIP. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER HAS DONE AN AMAZING JOB AT TRYING TO RESOLVE THE FLOORBOARD RUST BOARD. THE DEALER AND THE CONSUMER CAME TO AN AMICABLE AGREEMENT ON THE REPAIR OF THE FLOORBOARD. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER AFTER RECEIVING THE RECALL SERVICE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 111,143.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR PANEL RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH FROM THE INSIDE OUT. LARGE GAPING HOLE UNDERNEATH THE CARPET. VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGED SINCE NEW. WEATHER CONDITIONS DURING WINTER MONTHS HAVE BEEN MILD. VEHICLE WAS PA INSPECTED DECEMBER 2012 AND PASSED THEN . DEFECTIVE STRUCTURAL SHEETMETAL STEEL. OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON RECORD THROUGH NHTSA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S FLOORBOARDS WERE RUSTED OUT ON BOTH THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE FLOOR-BOARDS ON THE 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA ARE CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGED EVER SINCE DAY ONE, AND HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF EXTENSIVELY. TWO GIANT RUST HOLES ON THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR-BOARDS HAVE DEVELOPED DUE TO POOR MATERIALS AND DESIGN. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULDN'T BE OVERLOOKED. THE RUST AFFECTS THE VEHICLES CRASH TOLERANCE, AND STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE, AND SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THE DEFECTIVE FLOORBOARDS. *TR
THERE IS A RUST HOLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE CARPET IS LOWERING DOWN. I AM NOT SURE HOW TO GET IT FIXED. SEEMS LIKE MANY OTHER HAVE THE SIMILAR ISSUE. *TR
RUSTING FLOORBOARDS
GOT THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT ON 07/31/2013 AND THE NISSAN ALTIMA 2005 SUDDENLY STOPPED WHILE WAITING IN THE RED SIGNAL. THE LOCAL MECHANIC TOLD THE CODE P0335 WAS BEING RETURNED WHICH MEANT CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAS FAILED. SINCE THERE WAS A CAMPAIGN FOR THE SAME MODEL AND PROBLEM, I CONTACTED THE NISSAN CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY SAID THIS VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE CAMPAIGN. GOING TO CHECK WITH THE LOCAL DEALER TO REPROGRAM THE ECM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND A GRINDING NOISE EMITTED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE THREE OCCUPANTS EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. THE DRIVER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND FLAMES WERE NOT PRESENT; HOWEVER, PARTS OF THE ENGINE DETACHED ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGED AND WHEN COMPLETED THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THERE WAS CORROSION AND RUST IN THE FLOOR UNDER THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING IT, THE FLOOR BOARD SEEMS TO BE COMPLETELY ROTTED/RUSTED THROUGH AND YOU CAN SEE THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. HE TOLD ME THAT IT'S WEAR AND TEAR AND MAYBE AN AUTOBODY SHOP CAN FIX IT OR I SHOULD TRADE IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW AND A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE. WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE TODAY FOR CAR AND WHEN THE CAR WAS ON THE LIFT I HAD NOTICED SOME DISCOLORING IN THE FLOOR UNDER THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING IT, THE FLOOR BOARD SEEMS TO BE COMPLETELY ROTTED/RUSTED THROUGH AND YOU CAN SEE THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY BIG SAFETY ISSUE. EXHAUST FUMES CAN ENTER THE CAR WHILE IN PARK OR STOPPED. A FOOT CAN GO THROUGH THE FLOOR AND CAUSE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS IS A BODY DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR

2005 NISSAN ALTIMA FLOOR BOARDS HAVE RUSTED THROUGH WHICH CAN LEAD TO EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CAR, A SAFETY ISSUE. THE FLOOR PANELS SHOULD NOT RUST COMPLETELY THROUGH IN 9 YEARS. WHILE LIVING IN NEW ENGLAND DOES EXPOSE THE CAR TO SALT, I WOULD GO THROUGH THE CAR WASH ON A REGULAR BASIS. DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, I WAS INFORMED THE CAR WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION AND THAT THERE WERE HOLES IN THE FLOORBOARD. I TOOK PHOTOS DOCUMENTING THE ISSUE. THE REST OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS IN GOOD SHAPE BUT THE AREA UNDER THE FLOOR BOARDS IS COMPLETELY BOWED OUT AND EATEN THROUGH. THIS IS SHODDY MATERIALS AND (LACK OF) CRAFTMANSHIP. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER SIMILAR ISSUES POSTED TO THE DATABASE AND WANTED TO LODGE A COMPLAINT AS PART OF MY CLAIM TO NISSAN. I HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE OIL PAN WHICH IS ALSO QUITE PRONE TO RUSTING QUICKLY. *TR

I WAS DRIVING A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA (SE-R V6 WITH ONLY 66,000 MILES ON IT) AT APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH MY WIFE AND OUR 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT. I TRIED TO START THE ENGINE RIGHT AWAY. IT'S NOW HARD TO START UNLIKE BEFORE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE STARTING A CAR WITH A WEAK BATTERY ON IT BUT I KNOW MY BATTERY IS STILL GOOD THAT'S WHY I SUSPECTED SOMETHING WENT WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. FINALLY AFTER 3 SECONDS THE ENGINE STARTED BUT THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT TURNED ON. WHEN I HIT THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR DIDN'T ACCELERATE AS IT DID BEFORE THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED. THE FOLLOWING DAY I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT. AFTER RUNNING SOME DIAGNOSTICS, THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS AND CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I ASK IF THERE WAS ANY RECALL ISSUE REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID NONE. THE CALCULATED TOTAL COST WAS $631.00. AFTER FURTHER NEGOTIATION THE PRICE WENT DOWN TO $550.00. WHILE WAITING FOR THE SERVICE TO BE FINISHED I BROWSED THE NET AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE ALSO THE SAME PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED BY OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN IF THERE'S REALLY NO RECALL FOR THIS DESPITE OF MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS AND THEY EVEN PRINTED ME A RESULT THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NO CAMPAIGN FOR THIS ISSUE. I WENT HOME WONDERING WHY THERE IS NO "RECALL" MADE TO FIX THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT IF I WAS DRIVING IN A HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH AND THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN? *TR
