PURCHASED 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA IN 2009. CAR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CERTIFIED. IMMEDIATELY BEGAN HEARING SQUEALING/GRINDING WITH BRAKES. COMPLAINED TO NISSAN AND THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP KEPT ROTATING ROTORS BUT NO RESOLUTION. IN 12/2010 HAD BRAKES CHANGED AT HONCURA AUTO AND THEY USED GENUINE NISSAN PARTS. WITHIN A MONTH, SAME THING OCCURRING. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND NISSAN WILL NOT OWN UP TO IT. *TR
MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA HAD SQUEAKY BRAKES FOR MONTHS BEFORE DEALERSHIP WOULD ADMIT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. FIRST TIME I TOOK CAR IN ABOUT BRAKES WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES SOMETIMES MAKE A NOISE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. SECOND TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES AND BOTH CALIPERS ON FRONT.EVERYTHING WAS FIXED ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE BULLETIN. I'VE NOTICED THAT MY TRANSMISSION MAKES A WHINNY NOISE WHEN DRIVING UP GRADES. TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE REPORTED PROBLEM. GO FIGURE.. I WISH SOMEONE WOULD DO US ALL A FAVOR AND RECALL THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE! WE ALL HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF BY NISSAN! CAR HAS HAD TOO MANY PROBLEMS FROM DAY ONE! REGRET BUYING IT!! *TR
WOULD LIKE TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION A DEFECT THAT I BELIEVE NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED IN AT LEAST SOME, IF NOT ALL, OF NISSAN, LATEST ALTIMA VEHICLES. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS LEFT RUNNING AND THE VEHICLE DOORS ARE CLOSED WITH THE REMOTE "KEYLESS". THIS PROBLEM COULD CREATE A SERIOUS SAFETY & HEALTH ISSUE IF A DRIVER FORGETS TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE BEFORE USING THE REMOTE KEY TO CLOSE THE VEHICLE DOORS. *TR
CAR NOT STABLE. IT WANDERS AND PITCHES. STEERING IS ALL OVER THE ROAD. REQUIRES CONSTANT CORRECTING. SEEMS VERY UNSTABLE ON THE INTERSTATE AT 60MPH AND HIGHER. SEEMS TO PITCH FROM CORNER TO CORNER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE WOULD FILL THE INSIDE OF CAR ALSO HAD SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE INSIDE CAR TOOK IT TO PAUL BARNETT NISSAN IN BROOKHAVEN THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM CAR WAS SLUGGISH WHILE DRIVING AND THE RADIO WENT OUT TWICE . THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD BECOME VERY BRIGHT AND DIM WHILE DRIVING. *TR
I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A USED 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN. THE BRAKES ARE VERY SQUEAKY. THE BRAKES SQUEAK WHEN YOU PRESS ON THEM LIGHTLY GOING AROUND 10 MPH OR LESS. *TR
BRAKE LAMP SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED AT 10000 (APRIL 2009) AND 43000 (JANUARY 2012) MILES, AND REPLACED. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED, WHICH IS A HAZARD THAT COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. BECAUSE BRAKE MUST BE APPLIED FOR ENGINE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE WILL ALSO NOT START. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED IN THE ON AND OFF POSITION WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SEVEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
I HAVE A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE WITH 30K MILES AND THE BRAKES ARE SQUEAKING NONSTOP. I TOOK THE PAD OFF ON ALL 4 SIDES AND THERE IS PLENTY OF PAD LEFT. I SANDED THE SYFACE OF THE PAD, CLEANED THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY AND STILL THEY SQUEAK NON STOP. THE ONLY TIME THEY WILL NOT SQUEAK IS IF I BRAKE SUPER HARD. *TR
2008 ALTIMA HAS PUSH START BUTTON THAT WON'T WORK AT RANDOM TIMES. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY HAVE ASKED ME TO STOMP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL REAL HARD WHEN THIS HAPPENS TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE SENSOR SO THE CAR WOULD START. STILL UNRESOLVED AND I'M UNHAPPY. *TR
THE PASSENGER SEAT DOES NOT ALWAYS DETECT AN ADULT SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT ON" LIGHT COMES ON, SOMETIMES FLICKERS ON AND OFF AND ON AGAIN, WHEN AN ADULT IS SITTING IN THAT SEAT. THE SYMPTOMS APPEAR TO BE IDENTICAL TO CAMPAIGN 08V521000, BUT NISSAN SAYS MY VIN IS NOT EFFECTED. THE AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED, SO I HAVE NO WAY TO KNOW IF IT WILL WORK OR NOT, BUT SINCE THERE IS A PARTIAL RECALL UNDERWAY FOR THIS VERY THING, I BELIEVE THAT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. *TR
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE. TO TURN THE CAR ON/OFF IT UTILIZES A PUSH BUTTON RATHER THAN AN ACTUAL KEY. THE OTHER MORNING I DROVE TO WORK AND PARKED IN THE PUBLIC GARAGE @ 8:00 AM. I MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN TO PUSH THE OFF BUTTON BECAUSE WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE THAT EVENING 4:30 PM IT WAS RUNNING AND HAD BURNED 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS. BESIDES FEELING REAL STUPID, I THOUGHT ABOUT HOW DANGEROUS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN. BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING THE DOORS DID NOT LOCK, THEREFORE THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND UNLOCKED ALL DAY. THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE BEEN RANSACKED, STOLEN OR WORSE, IF THIS HAD TAKEN PLACE IN SOMEONE'S HOME GARAGE, OR DRIVEWAY OR ON A STREET, A CHILD COULD HAVE GOTTEN INTO THE VEHICLE, ENGAGED IT IN DRIVE AND CAUSED DAMAGE OR INJURY TO SOMEONE OR PERSONAL PROPERTY. VEHICLES WITH THIS "SMART KEY" TECHNOLOGY SHOULD HAVE A BUILT IN SAFETY/ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM THAT WOULD AUTOMATICALLY SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AFTER 15 MINUTES OF IDLE. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE RUN 8-1/2 HOURS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V521000 AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL BECAUSE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE AIR BAG MAY NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS REFERRED BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. BOTH BACK PASSENGER DOORS ON THE 2008 ALTIMA SOMETIMES DO NOT CLOSE. AFTER OPENING THE DOORS, AND THEN TRYING TO SHUT THE DOORS THEY DO NOT LATCH SHUT AND BOUNCE BACK TO THE OPEN POSITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST TEN TIMES AND THE DOOR LATCHES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. WITHIN THE WEEK OF THE PROBLEM BEING "FIXED" IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT IS ONLY THE TWO BACK DOORS NOT THE FRONT ONES. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT ALL SEASON RADIAL TIRES, SIZE 215/60/16. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLIDE UNCONTROLLABLY. THE ROAD SURFACE WAS SNOW COVERED AND SLUSHY. THE DRIVER SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND PROCEEDED DOWN THE INCLINE. IMMEDIATELY, THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND PROCEEDED FORWARD TO THE TOP OF THE INCLINE AS THE TIRES SLID. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT FELT THIS WAS A LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT SUITABLE FOR THIS GEOGRAPHIC AREA. ALL FOUR ORIGINAL TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000. UPDATED 05/08/09. *LJ
WHEN ADULT PASSENGER IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT INTERMITTENTLY THE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT GOES ON, EVEN THOUGH THE PASSENGER IS SITTING UPRIGHT IN THE SEAT WITH LEGS EXTENDED IN FRONT OF THEM AS THEY SHOULD BE. PASSENGER SEAT REPLACED BY NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH 2009 MODEL SEAT. THIS IS THE THIRD SEAT REPLACEMENT. *TR

THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR SHOWS THE AIRBAG TO BE OFF WITH AN ADULT PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. REPEATED VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP HAVE RESULTED IN NISSAN SERVICE STATING THE SYSTEM IS WORKING PROPERLY, BUT REPEATED CASES CONTINUE. *TR
DRIVERS SEAT SQUIRMS MOVES AND IS NOT RIGID. DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CAN NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. EVERY TIME I TURN THE SEAT MAKES NOISE AND SOUNDS SQUIRMS LIKE ITS NOT PROPERLY SECURE. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT ALSO COMES ON WHEN A FULLY GROWN ADULT IS SITTING IN IT. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY ON AN AVERAGE OF 4-5 TIMES MONTHLY. WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS DEACTIVATED NOT PROTECTING THE INDIVIDUAL. THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES WHEN PRESSED SOMETIMES THE BRAKES IN THE FRONT DO NOT GRAB PROPERLY AND THEY GRIND BADLY CAUSING THE CAR NOT TO STOP AS WELL . THE DEALERSHIP SAYS CAN NOT REPLICATE BUT STATED THEY ARE AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS AND THAT NISSAN MAY ISSUE A RECALL. FOR THE TIME BEING THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. *TR

THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED ALL NIGHT AND AT 330 A.M. IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. IT HAD NEVER BEEN ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND THEY PUT OUT THE FIRE. THEY SAID THAT THE ELECTRICAL FUSE BOX CAUGHT ON FIRE. *TR
DRIVERS SEAT MOVES SIDE TO SIDE, TYPICALLY WHEN MAKING RIGHT HAND TURNS. NISSAN SAYS THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS, HOWEVER, THE FIX HAS YET TO FIX THE ISSUE. THIS IS VERY ALARMING WHEN DRIVING, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE NOT EXPECTING YOUR SEAT TO SHIFT. NOW THE SEAT MOVES FORWARD/BACKWARD WHEN ACCELERATING ALONG WITH THE SIDE TO SIDE MOVEMENTS. NISSAN HAS HAD THE CAR AT LEAST 3 TIMES TRYING TO CORRECT ISSUE AND NOW SAYS IT MUST BE THE WAY NISSAN DESIGNS THEIR SEATS. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE CARS IN MY LIFE AND THIS IS THE FIRST CAR SEAT THAT HAS MOVED. I DO NOT SEE HOW THE SEAT CAN BE SAFE IF IT MOVES WHILE DRIVING. I'M WORRIED THAT IF I HAVE TO BRAKE SUDDENLY OR AM IN AN ACCIDENT THE SEAT WILL COME OFF TRACK. *TR
RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. I QUESTION THIS EVERYTIME I TAKE MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE BACK TO 2008 AND EVERYTIME I GET THE SAME ANSWER "IT'S NORMAL, IT'S JUST THE HEAT SHIELD PLATE HEATING UP AND COOLING DOWN. IT DOESN'T AFFECT THE SAFETY & FUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT". IT'S AMAZING I PAID $30K FOR A CAR THAT RATTLES ON REGULAR BASIS AND THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT. YOU WOULD THINK AFTER THE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS NISSAN COULD ATLEAST COME UP WITH A FIX! THEY SAY IT DOES NOT AFFECT THE FUNCTION/SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE BUT I BEG TO DIFFER, I GET HESITATIONS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. I HAVE A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. IT HAS A PUSH BUTTON STAR/STOP SWITCH AND NO KEYS ARE NEEDED. I ACCIDENTALLY LEFT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND PUSHED THE OFF BUTTON AND LEFT THE CAR. THE CAR TURNED OFF AND ROLLED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
PURCHASED A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA, DROVE THE CAR FOR 3,000 MILES. CVT TRANSMISSION STARTED MAKING STRANGE NOISES. TURNED OUT TO BE DEFECTIVE. THEY REPLACED IT, BUT DID NOT PUT IT BACK TOGETHER PROPERLY. BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT EVER SINCE. NOV 30, 2009 TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, HAD THEM EXAMINE TRANSMISSION AGAIN FOR A GRINDING NOISE. THEY DID NOT "SEE" ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT BUT ACKNOWLEDGED TRANSMISSION COULD BE DEFECTIVE. CAR IS GOING IN FOR MORE "TESTS". NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS 120,000 MILES FOR CVT'S, HOWEVER I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED AT THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE, AN INTRUDER BROKE THE LOCK MECHANISM ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, BOTH OF THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AND REAR WINDOWS AUTOMATICALLY RELEASED IN A DOWNWARD POSITION. THE POLICE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 8,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. IN OCTOBER OF 2008, THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE IN NOVEMBER OF 2008. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THE DEALER WOULD NOT ALLOW THE CONTACT TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN IT RAINED THE BRAKES LOCKED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SKID. THE BRAKE FAILURE HAS CAUSED A CRASH TO OCCUR WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH. THE CONTACT IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK SINCE A CRASH HAS OCCURRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 0.
DRIVERS SEAT MOVES SIDE TO SIDE AND FRONT TO BACK WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AFTER A TECHNICAL BULLETIN WAS CREATED, BUT THE ISSUE STILL REMAINS. DEALER NOW SAYS THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH ITS WORSE NOW THAN IT WAS ORIGINALLY. *TR

THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THIS SPECIFIC FAILURE. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SOON AFTER. SHE RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS FAILED COMPONENT AND THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN, NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
PURCHASED CAR NEW IN JULY 2008, AND HAVE SINCE NOTICED THAT MY PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WILL INDICATE THAT THE AIR BAG IS "OFF" WHEN I HAVE PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. LIGHT WILL ALSO INDICATE THAT THE AIR BAG IS "OFF" WHEN THERE IS NOTHING IN THE SEAT. NOT A CONSISTENT PROBLEM, HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT INDICATE THAT THE AIR BAG IS "ON" WHEN THERE IS ONLY A SMALL BAG OR BOOKS ON THE SEAT. TOOK TO DEALER WHERE PURCHASED, THEY SAID MY AIRBAG IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CAR IN JULY 2008 FROM POWER NISSAN OF TEMPE, AZ ABOUT A MONTH OR SO LATER I NOTICED WHEN DRIVING MY CAR FOR MORE THAN 5 MILES AROUND TOWN. I WOULD SMELL AN OVERHEATING ODOR AND MY CAR WOULD START DRIVING VERY SLUGGISH. CAR WAS SLOW TO ACCELERATE. MY TEMPERATURE GAGE ON THE DASH HAS NEVER INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. I LEFT MY CAR OVERNIGHT WITH THEM AND PICKED IT UP THE NEXT DAY WITH THEM TELLING ME THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND A LEAK ANYWHERE. SO I TOOK THE CAR HOME. NO SOONER THAN THAT I STARTED TO SMELL THE AGAIN. SO I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD TO FIND THAT THE ANTIFREEZE WAS LEAKING OUT OF THE OVERFLOW CAP. THERE ARE REMAINDERS OF ANTIFREEZE STILL ON THE OVEFLOW CONTAINER. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT ALL THE NISSANS ARE DOING THAT AND IT WAS NORMAL. AS LONG AS THE TEMPERATURE GAGE WASN'T READING HOT. I DON'T THINK THIS IS NORMAL AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS DEFECT ASAP! IM GETTING NOWHERE WITH NISSAN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT THE FAILURE WAS AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN; HOWEVER, THE INSECTS WERE REMOVED FROM THE SOCKETS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THEY HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED A REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,265.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR FILLED UP WITH WATER WHENEVER IT RAINED. THE CONTACT STATED ALSO STATED THAT IT SOUNDS LIKE A DISH WASHER WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. NONE OF THE OTHER DOORS HAVE EXHIBITED THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE PLUGS IN THE DOOR WERE CLOGGED WHICH FAILED TO LET THE WATER OUT. THE CONTACT HAD TO CONTINUE TO OPEN THE DOOR AND LET THE WATER RUN OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE SPEAKERS ON THE DOOR TO MAKE A BUZZING NOISE. THIS IS A DEFECT BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH THE MECHANICS OF THE DOOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24000.
2008 NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN WITH 13000 MILES. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO. THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON IF THE TIRES ARE AT THE SPECIFIED PRESSURE OF 32 PSI AS SPECIFIED BY THE PLACARD AFFIXED TO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THE FIX WAS TO INCREASE THE TIRE PRESSURE TO BETWEEN 35 AND 40 PSI. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE AS THE HANDLING CHANGES DRASTICALLY, THE RIDE DETERIORATES AND I'M SURE THE LIFE OF THE TIRES IS SHORTENED. AFTER DISCUSSING THE REPAIR WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY INFORMED ME THAT SINCE THE PRESSURE MONITORING IS A GOVERNMENT MANDATED ITEM, INCREASING THE PRESSURE IS ALL THEY ARE REQUIRED TO DO BY NISSAN, AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. THAT IS AN UNACCEPTABLE FIX. I WAS READING IN A NISSAN HELP GROUP WEBSITE THAT THE PROBLEM IS AN OFTEN HAPPENING EVEN ON CARS RIGHT OUT OF THE SHOWROOM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN THE INTERSTATE MY REAR DRIVER'S TIRE WENT FLAT. I BOUGHT MY NISSAN ALTIMA BRAND NEW APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO AND THERE ARE ONLY APPROXIMATELY 2400 MILES ON THE TIRES. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FLAT WAS SPLITTING SIDEWALLS. ADDITIONALLY, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S TIRE IS ALSO STARTING TO SHOW SIGNS OF SPLITTING SIDEWALLS.
PASSENGER AIR BAG ON PASSENGER SIDE SHOWS DISABLED WITH MY KIDS THAT ARE OVER 110 LBS IN THE SEAT. I HAD THE DEALER REVIEW THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT AN ISSUE. WAS TOLD TO LOOK IN THE MANUAL AND THAT THE PERSON HAD TO SIT IN THE SEAT CORRECTLY OR THEY ARE TO LIGHT. THE SEATING WAS NOT THE PROBLEM, THE CAR IS. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG BLADDER IN THE SEAT IS VERY EASY TO MISS IF NOT SITTING FULLY IN THE BACK OF THE SEAT, WRONG THE PERSON IS SITTING FINE. IF I STOP THE CAR PUT IN PARK AND BACK IN DRIVE THE AIRBAG RE-ACTIVATES. THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH MULTIPLE PEOPLE MULTIPLE TIMES MOSTLY DURING THE FIRST DRIVE OF THE DAY. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY SEAL BETWEEN THE FUEL FILLER PIPE AND THE GAS CAP. THIS REQUIRES SANDING OF THE FILLER PIPE. THE SAME PROBLEM WAS FIXED LESS THAN TWO YEARS AGO AND THE CAR HAS ONLY 41,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT THE REPEAT REPAIR, THE DEALER INDICATED THAT 2 YEARS WAS A "GOOD" AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THIS REPAIR WHICH USUALLY HAS TO BE REPEATED IN A YEAR OR YEAR AND A HALF. SINCE I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE, IT SOUNDS LIKE DEFECTIVE PARTS AND/OR DESIGN TO ME. *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA IN MARCH OF 2008, AFTER 2000 MILES I HEARD THE BRAKES START TO SQUEAK, I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AUGUST 8TH AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES, THEY DID AND TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE CALIPERS REPLACED, I ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND WAS TOLD NO, THERE IS A BULLETIN THOUGH. FIRST DAY FOR PICK UP, HEADLIGHT POP, FIX IT THE NEXT DAY, TOOK 90 MINUTES JUST TO FIX ONE HEADLIGHT, AFTER 6 WEEKS, CAR TURNS OFF WHEN DRIVING ONE OF THE MOST BUSIEST HWY AND THE STEERING LOCKS; ONLY WAY TO START IT IS BY PUTTING IT TO "PARK" HOLD BRAKES DOWN ALL THE WAY THEN PUSH THE BUTTON AND COMING FROM THAT, IT WAS NOT SAFE AT ALL, DRIVERS WERE HONKING AND SWERVING JUST TO MANEUVER AWAY FROM ME, CALLED DEALERSHIP TO WHERE I PURCHASE CAR TO FIX THE PROBLEM, TOLD THEM THAT THE CAR HAD TURNED OFF 4 TIMES ON THE SAME HWY AND THANK GOD IT TURNED OFF ON A STRAIGHT AWAY NOT WHILE TURNING, SHOWED THEM A VIDEO IN WHICH I INTEND TO HOLD FOR EVIDENCE. DROP IT OFF 7:00AM, DEALERSHIP HAD SAID ABOUT CODES; THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND HAD REPLUG EVERY PLUG THAT WAS ON THE CAR IN WHICH IT WOULD BE RESET, GAVE CAR BACK WITHIN 9 HOURS SAYING THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF AGAIN AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT BACK. AFTER A WEEK AND A HALF, THE CAR HAD TURNED OFF PLUS WITH THE GAUGES(NOT KNOWING THE SPEED I WAS GOING) AND RADIO DISPLAY WENT OUT AND THIS IS WHEN IT WAS RAINING HECTIC AND I WASN'T ABLE TO USE HIGH BEAMS AUTOMATICALLY TO WHERE IT LOCKS FORWARD BUT TO PULL IT TOWARDS ME MANUALLY WHILE DRIVING. ALREADY TOLD DEALERSHIP THAT THIS CAR IS A BIG CONCERN ON THE ROAD FOR SAFETY BECAUSE WHEN IT TURNS OFF I BECOME A CRASHING INCIDENT IN WHICH IF THAT HAPPENS I WILL BLAME NISSAN FOR THAT. *TR
PURCHASED A 2008 ALTIMA 3.5 SE WITH POWER SEATS, BEFORE 2000 MILES NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS LOOSE AND HAD A VIBRATING EFFECT THEN THE SEAT STARTED POPPING OUT OF PLACE AS I WAS MAKING A TURN OR GOING AROUND A CURVE OR EXITING ONTO AN EXIT RAMP. I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SEAT RAILS BUT THE CAR CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME THING AND THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT IT CAN'T DUPLICATE THE MOVEMENT SO THEY CAN'T REPAIR IT. A MOVING SEAT WHILE DRIVING IS NOT SAFE!! THE SEAT GOES TO THE LEFT AND THERE IS A POPPING SOUND AND SOMETIMES IT GOES FORWARD. *TR
I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT A CHRONIC BRAKE PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA, SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE IN MAY OF 2008. TO DATE, I HAVE HAD TO BRING IN THE CAR FOR REPAIRS RANGING FROM SQUEALING NOISES RIGHT DOWN TO OUT AND OUT GRINDING WHICH BEGAN ONLY 3-4K MILES AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR. AFTER THE FIRST SEVERAL REPAIRS, WHICH DID ABSOLUTELY "NOTHING' AS I NOTICED THE BRAKES SQUEALING STILL JUST DAYS AFTER I BROUGHT THE CAR IN, THE CAR DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) ISSUED WHICH REQUIRED THEM TO PERFORM A 'COMPLETE" BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT, WHICH INCLUDED BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND BRAND NEW REPLACEMENTS OF ALL OTHER PARTS THAT THE BRAKES USE. SINCE THAT TIME, THE BRAKES CONTINUE TO MAKE THIS ANNOYING SQUEALING NOISE AND WHEN THE DEALERSHIP IS QUESTIONED ABOUT IT, THEY SIMPLY REVERT BACK TO WHAT THEY TOLD ME THE VERY FIRST TIME I CALLED THEM ABOUT THIS 3-4 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR, WHICH WAS THAT THIS SOUND WAS NORMAL WITH ALL CARS AND WAS NOTHING TO BE ALARMED ABOUT, WHICH SOUNDED TOTALLY PREPOSTEROUS TO ME AND WAS EVEN PROVEN INCORRECT MONTHS LATER AFTER THE INITIAL COMPLAINT WHEN THEY ADVISED ME THERE WAS THAT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) ISSUED REGARDING THIS PROBLEM WHICH RESULTED IN THE AFOREMENTIONED COMPLETE OVERHAUL REPAIR. IT WAS NOTED THAT, AMONG OTHER REASONS, THIS OCCURS AS A RESULT OF THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY THE SEMI-METALLIC PADS USED BY NISSAN AND/OR OTHER CHEAP OR POOR QUALITY BRAKE PRODUCTS USED. FROM WHAT I HAVE LEARNED THERE HAVE BEEN "THREE" TSB'S ISSUED RELATING TO BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THE 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA AS FOLLOWS: NTB07-003C MURANO AND ALTIMA; SQUEAK NOISE WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA IN JULY 2008. I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT TURNING ON AND OFF WHILE I HAVE A PASSENGER WHO WEIGHS 125LBS. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNS ON, THIS MEANS THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT NOR FIX IT. I'VE CALLED THE NISSAN CONSUMER HOTLINE NUMBER MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES AND JUST SEEM TO GET THE RUN AROUND. I'M TOLD MY FILE WAS "ASSIGNED" TO SOMEONE, BUT THIS "SOMEONE" CAN'T SEEM TO RETURN CALLS NOR ANSWER MY CALLS. I'M ASTOUNDED THAT THIS PROBLEM WITH MY AIRBAG IS NOT ELEVATED TO A PRIORITY STATUS AS THERE WILL BE A VERY LARGE LAWSUIT AGAINST NISSAN IF MY PASSENGER IS INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO THE MALFUNCTIONING AIRBAG SENSOR. 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 4 CYLINDER WITH CVT TRANSMISSION, WHEN PULLING OUT ON HIGHWAY THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY AT FIRST (0 TO 25 MPH) BUT THEN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND COASTED INTO TRAFFIC NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENED TWICE MORE ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND HAS BEEN REPORTED TO A NISSAN DEALER TWICE FOR REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN LACK OF ACCELERATION HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND TWICE THE DEALER RESET THE CODE, CHANGE THE FLUID AND REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER AND SAID IT WAS JUST A FLUKE AND THAT IT FOUND NO HARDWARE PROBLEMS. THE NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSION CONTROL ELECTRONICS ARE UNRELIABLE, UNSAFE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THIS RECURRING PROBLEM VERY NEARLY RESULTED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT TODAY. *TR
2008 NISSAN ALTIMA 7,000 MILES FRONT BRAKE PADS ARE TOO HARD. THEY CUT INTO THE BRAKE ROTORS AND CAUSE CAR TO STOP POORLY. THEY ALSO SCREECH. WHEN STOPPING. AT 7,500 SERVICE SHOP TURNED THE ROTORS BUT DID NOT REPLACE THE PADS, SO THE HARD PADS WILL CONTINUE TO CUT INTO ROTORS AND MAKE STOPPING DIFFICULT. MY 20005 FORD FREESTYLE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND FORD RECALLED AND REPLACED PADS WITH SOFTER ONES AND CURED THE PROBLEMS. MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA DASH BOARD IS MELTING. I LIVE IN MIAMI FL. AND BROUGHT MY 2008 ALTIMA NEW FROM A LOCAL DEALER. AROUND 2010, I STARTED TO NOTICE THE DETERIORATION OF THE DASH BOARD. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO A CLEANING PRODUCT. HOWEVER, BASED ON MY RECENT RESEARCH OVER THE INTERNET AND PERSONAL OBSERVATION OF OTHER 2008 ALTIMA'S OWN BY OTHERS, THE MELTING DASH BOARD IS A PERVASIVE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE RESOLVING BY RECALLING THERE VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THE DASH BOARD IS SO SHINY THAT IT INTER-FEARS WITH THE DRIVER'S VISION WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE SUN IS SHINING, THE DASH REFLEX THE SUN DIRECTLY IN THE FACE OF THE DRIVER. I REACHED OUT TO NISSAN (CASE# [XXX]) THEY EXPLAINED THAT IT IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND REFUSE TO REPAIR OR RESOLVE THE ISSUES. HOWEVER, SINCE THIS IS SAFETY CONCERN THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL OF ENDANGERING THE PEOPLE LIVES, THE WARRANTY LIMITATION SHOULD NOT APPLY. THAT WAS 45 DAYS AGO. 2ND PROBLEM, MY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON A LOT OF THE TIME MY WIFE IS SEATED IN THE SEAT. SHE'S ABOUT 150 POUNDS, SO THERE SHOULD NOT BE A WEIGHT PROBLEM.
