A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. *TT *JS
THE SEAT IS LIFTED AND SLIDING ESPECIALLY WHEN I BRAKE OR ACCELERATE. IT IS UNSTABLE AND SWAYS FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT I READ WITH NISSAN SEATS AND I AM AFRAID.
I OWN A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA AND LIVE IN GLASGOW KENTUCKY . A WHILE BACK I NOTICED A REAL STICKY SUBSTANCE ON MY DASH THAT WAS CAUSING A TERRIBLE GLARE ON MY WINDSHIELD. I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND APPARENTLY THE 2008 AND 2009 ALTIMAS DASHBOARD WILL MELT. MAKES IT HARD TO SEE OUT AT TIMES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING LOCK MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE'S DASH IS MELTING CAUSING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHEN DRIVING INTO THE SUN. THE GLARE IS DISTRACTING AND OBSCURES MY VISION. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2008, IT HAS APPROX. 80,000 MILES, IS KEPT IN THE GARAGE AFTER DAYTIME WORK HOURS. THE MELTING BEGAN THIS SUMMER.
DASHBOARD CRACKING AND SEEPING STICKY FLUID ON TOP OF DASHBOARD MELTING
THE DASHBOARD IS STARTING TO MELT BAD. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO PROTECH IT WITH SUNSHADES BUT IT STILL CONTINUES TO MELT. THIS IS CAUSING GLARE ON MY WINDSHIELD AND CAUSING OBSTRUCTION FOR MY DRIVING AND BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE. I WOULD REQUEST RECALL AND FIX THE DASHBOARD ISSUE.
FRONT DASHBOARD HAS A MELTED, STICKY AND TACKY SURFACE FROM A COMBINATION OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT AND/OR HIGH INTERIOR HEAT TEMPERATURES. THE MELTED DASH HAS CREATED A HIGH SHINE SURFACE THAT REFLECTS SUNLIGHT DIRECTLY ONTO THE WINDSHIELD IN THE DRIVER'S FIELD OF VISION IMPEDING VISIBILITY AND MAKES DRIVING UNSAFE. DEBRIS AND DIRT ADHERES TO THE SURFACE, CLEANING IS DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF THE TACKY SURFACE. THERE IS PITTING AROUND THE LOCATION OF THE PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG LOCATION DUE TO THE MELTED TEXTURE OF THE DASHBOARD. DASHBOARD HAS A PUTTY AND GUMMY LIKE TEXTURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, BLACK SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE VENTILATION UNIT AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, IT CAUGHT FIRE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO OPEN. AS A RESULT, THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER WAS TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND SUSTAINED SMOKE INHALATION RELATED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO REMOVE THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND CRACKING IN MANY PLACES. IT ALSO GETS SO HOT IN THE SUMMER THAT I WAS REMOVING SOMETHING FROM IT AND MY FINGERNAIL TOOK A PIECE OF THE DASH. MY CAR IS GARAGE KEPT AND WHEN PARKED IN THE SUN, SUN SHIELDS ARE USED. I NOTICED THIS ISSUE IN JULY OF LAST YEAR. NISSAN DEALER SAID WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER IT AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE.
I NOTICE MY DASHBOARD IS CRACKING AND SOFT AND STICKY. I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE FROM OTHER OWNERS AND FEEL THIS MAY BE UNSAFE ESPECIALLY WHEN IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY. I AM SURE TESTS WERE DONE WHEN THE DASHBOARD IS FINE BUT WAS AIRBAGS TESTING DONE WITH STICKY, SOFT, CRACKING DASHBOARDS, PROBABLY NOT.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2008 ALTIMA 2.5S HAS COMPLETELY MELTED. IT IS STICKY, DISCOLORED, AND CANNOT BE CLEANED DUE TO THE STICKINESS. NISSAN WILL NOT FIX THIS AS THE VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE OF ITS WARRANTY. REPLACEMENT DASH RUNS OVER $1200 JUST FOR PARTS. I KNOW IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE GLARE FROM THE MELTING GETS WORSE AND I CRASH BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE. RIDICULOUS.
THE DASH IS MELTING AND CAUSES A VERY BAD GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHETHER DRIVING OR PARKED GOING INTO THE SUN.IT IS SO BAD YOU CAN BARELY SEE THE ROAD IN FRONT OF YOU.THIS IS TRULY A SAFETY ISSUE.
2008 NISSAN ALTIMA DASHBOARD "MELTING". MAJORITY OF DASHBOARD NOW LOOKS SHINNY AND APPEARS TO HAVE A LIQUID SHINE TO IT, WHICH CAUSES BLIND SPOTS DURING DRIVING DUE TO THE REFLECTIVE NATURE OF THE "MELTED" DASH. CANNOT TOUCH, CLEAN, OR WIPE THE DASH AS THE SURFACE IS SIMILAR TO TACKY GLUE. NOTHING HAS BEEN SPRAYED ON THE DASH TO CAUSE THIS ISSUE, THIS IS JUST THE HEAT BUILDING UP INTERNALLY AND THE DESIGN OF THE DASHBOARD MATERIAL BEING SUBSTANDARD.
MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA STARTED WITH A MELTED DASHBOARD WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE OF THE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. I CAN'T SEE WHEN THE SUN IS REFLECTING OFF THE MELTED (WET) DASHBOARD. MORE RECENTLY THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS EXPLODED AND IS CRACKED WITH THE INNER MATERIAL SHOWING. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A FAULT IN THE MANUFACTURING, I HAVE A FRIEND WITH A 2008 COUPE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AS A SAFETY CONCERN AS IT INTERFERES WITH THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY.
THE DASH BOARD IS MELTING. THERE IS A STICKY SUBSTANCE COMING FORM THE DASH BOARD THAT CAUSES A SIGNIFICANT GLARE FROM THE SUN. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND FILED A COMPLAINT REAGRDING MY DASHY BOARD (COMPLAINT #19437322) AND A REPRESENTATIVE NAMED "MARISOL" ADVISED ME THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT BE REPLACING OR REPAIRING MY DASH BOARD AT NOT EXPENSE TO ME. THSI IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND MAY OWNERS OF THE 2008 NISSAN ARE EXPERASINCING TEH SAME UNSAFE CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DASH BOARD MELTING.
TAKATA RECALL MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING. IT HAS BECOME VERY STICKY AND CAUSES A SEVERE GLARE ACROSS THE SPAN OF MY WINDSHIELD. THIS IS MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF MY WINDSHIELD AND IT IS VERY DISTRACTING.I HAVE NOTICED THE GLARE FOR MONTHS,BUT AS TIME PASSES IT IS BECOMING MORE DIFFICULT TO SEE CLEARLY. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE LIMITED VISIBILITY WILL HINDER MY ABILITY TO DRIVE SAFELY.
DASHBOARD, STEERING WHEEL, AND SHIFT HANDLE HAVE ALL MELTED FROM HEAT. THE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME ALMOST LIQUIFIED, AND THE GLARE FROM THE NOW SHINY SURFACE CREATES A REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD, CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BECOME GUMMY, MAKING STEERING UNSAFE, AND THE RUBBERY MATERIAL ON THE SHIFT HANDLE HAS BECOME GUMMY, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SAFELY SHIFT GEARS ACCUARATELY.
THE DASHBOARD IS DETERIORATING AND HAS BECOME VERY SHINY. THIS CREATES GLARE ON SUNNY DAYS WHICH DEGRADES VISIBILITY TO THE POINT OF BEING A SAFETY CONCERN. AS EVIDENCED BY A CLASS ACTION SUIT IT FLORIDA, THIS ISSUE IS PERVASIVE FOR THIS MODEL. TOYOTA HAS ALREADY RECALLED THEIR CARS FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A SECOND VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONED AND DID NOT SECURE THE DRIVER DURING THE INCIDENT. THE DRIVER SUFFERED NECK, BACK, AND CHEST INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
THE DASH BOARD HAS TURNED INTO A STICKY MESS, IT CAN'T BE CLEANED AND IS CAUSING A DANGEROUS GLARE ON THE WIND SHIELD.

MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE HAS A MELTING DASHBOARD. IT HAS BECOME INCREDIBLY STICKY AND IS NOT ABLE TO BE CLEANED BECAUSE OF THIS. THE "SHEEN" THAT IS ON THE DASHBOARD NOW CAUSES A HORRIFIC REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD REDUCING VISIBILITY DRASTICALLY AND CAUSING A HAZARD WHILE DRIVING. CONTACT WITH NISSAN HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND NO ACTION IS BEING TAKEN AT THIS TIME. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE BUICK DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING; HOWEVER, THE BUICK DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY, WHICH DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE BUICK DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKE STOP SWITCH MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
VEHICLE, IS MAKING A RUBBERISH NOISE IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN, BRAKES IN THE VEHICLE ARE RELATIVELY NEW AND WHEN REQUIRED TO A HARD BRAKE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND WELL. I HAD TO REFILL THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WITH A LITTLE BIT OF FLUID NOT MUCH. I BELIEVE IT MIGHT BE LEACKING SMALL AMOUNTS OF FLUID TO THE BOOSTER OVER TIME, I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM SOMEONE ELSE KNOWN TO ME, SO I HAVE KNOWN THE CAR FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND ITS BEING HAVING THIS ISSUE FOR A WHILE NOW. I HAVE SEEN MANY THREADS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, WHICH MUST BE SOLVED WITH NISSAN. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM AT 53 000 MILES.
THE DASHBOARD IN MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE IS GIVING OFF A STRONG CHEMICAL SMELL, IS VERY STICKY TO THE TOUCH, AND IS SO SHINY THAT IT GENERATES AN INTENSE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHEN IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. THE WINDSHIELD GLARE IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD THAT IS ONLY GETTING WORSE -- IT USED TO BE THAT I COULD GET BY WITH WEARING SUNGLASSES BUT NOW THE GLARE IS SO INTENSE THAT EVEN WITH POLARIZED SUNGLASSES ON, I HAVE TO LEAN THIS WAY AND THAT IN ORDER TO SEE WHAT'S IN FRONT OF ME. IF I WERE TO LOSE MY SUNGLASSES WHILE OUT AND ABOUT, I WOULD ABSOLUTELY BE UNABLE TO DRIVE UNTIL AFTER SUNSET. IT'S UNSAFE FOR ME AND EVERYONE ON THE ROAD TO OPERATE A VEHICLE WITH SUCH BAD WINDSHIELD OBSTRUCTION. ANY BUGS OR DEBRIS THAT COME IN CONTACT WITH THE AREAS OF THE DASHBOARD THAT ARE MELTING INSTANTLY BECOME STUCK. IT LOOKS A LOT LIKE A TAR PIT AND IF YOU TOUCH IT, A TAR-LIKE SUBSTANCES COMES OFF AND IS VERY HARD TO REMOVE FROM YOUR SKIN. THE FUMES IT GIVES OFF ARE NAUSEATING AND SEEM TO MAKE THE WINDSHIELD FOGGY. WHEN TRYING TO CLEAN THE WEIRD CHEMICAL FOG OFF, I HAVE TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL NOT TO LET THE CLEANING RAGS TOUCH ANY PART OF THE DASH BECAUSE IT WILL LITERALLY PULL THE RAG APART, LEAVING BEHIND DISTRACTING PIECES OF CLOTH ALL OVER THE DASH. I ASKED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO HELP REMEDY MY SITUATION BUT THEY REFUSED TO HELP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER IN WARRANTY. IT SEEMS THAT AS TIME GOES ON AND THE WEATHER GETS HOTTER, THE DASHBOARD ONLY GETS WORSE AND WORSE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX THE PROBLEM ON MY OWN (THE DEALERSHIP ESTIMATES THAT THE REPAIR WILL COST OVER $2,000) BUT I ALSO DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IN THE SUNLIGHT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR SEAT POSSIBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE FOR AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN ACCIDENTS. NISSAN HAS BEEN NOTIFIED WITH CASE# 18895692, THEY ARE REVIEWING. DEALER NOTE: DTC B1129 - B1132 FRONT RH SIDE AIR BAG MODULE: THE FRONT RH SIDE AIR BAG MODULE IS WIRED TO THE AIR BAG DIAGNOSIS SENSOR UNIT. THE AIR BAG DIAGNOSIS SENSOR UNIT WILL MONITOR AND SHORTS IN DETECTED LINES TO THE FRONT RH SIDE BAG MODULE. REPLACE THE FRONT RH SEAT BACK ASSEMBLY.
AS I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA TRANSMISSION MADE A LOUD NOISE AND LOST DRIVE, I HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID GETTING RUN OVER BY A 18 WHEELER . THE DASHBOARD HAS A DEFECT FROM GLUE SURFACING TO TOP AND CAUSING GLARE AND STICKY, SHINY THAT REFLECTS ON WINDOW A HAZARD WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN WILL NOT PAY AND NOT A RECALL. THIS REALLY SAD MISTAKE AND NO ONE WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.
