TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A PUSH START IGNITION AND THE ENGINE FAILED TO OPERATE UPON ENGAGING THE SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BCM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,327.
I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, THE STEERING BECAME DISABLED AND THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP. WHITE SMOKE CAME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, IT IMMEDIATELY TURNED BLACK AND 60 SECONDS AFTER THE CAR LOST POWER IT WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE TIRES WOULD NOT RESPOND TO MOVEMENTS OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHO STATED THAT THE INDEPENDENT POWER DRIVE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while her grandmother was driving 70 MPH, the vehicle began to shake forcefully. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to drive to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The contact stated she also experienced the failure on 2013. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing unknown bolts to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V371000 (Suspension) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE EXITING HIS VEHICLE IT CONTINUED GOING FORWARD. THE CONTACT HASTILY JUMPED BACK INTO THE VEHICLE TO STOP IT AND BROKE HIS WRIST IN THE PROCESS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT NEEDING A KEY TO START OR STOP IT CAUSED HIM TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS STILL IN THE DRIVE POSITION. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE SAFETY CONCERN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR INDICATING NOT ON WHILE ADULT SITTING IN SEAT. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER SEVERAL TIME WOULD NOT DUPLICATE. 2 TIMES THEY SAID THY FIX IT. CARS SHOULD BE ON RECALL. DEALER SAID THY COULD NOT HELP. *TR
WHEN DRIVING SPEEDS AS LOW AS 25 MILES PER HOUR, THE BRAKES STARTED TO GRAB. I FIRST NOTICED THAT WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE, WHEN RELEASED, THE PEDAL SEEMED TO STICK, AS IF THERE WERE GUM ON THE BOTTOM OF MY SHOE, PERHAPS STICKING TO THE PEDAL. I CHECKED THE PEDAL AND IT WAS CLEAR. THEN I NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT SLOWER RATES OF SPEED, AS I EASED ON THE BRAKE, IT SEEMED TO DEPRESS AGAIN, THEN THE BRAKES WOULD GRAB HARDER. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER--$700 ESTIMATE TO FIX. I DID NOT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, SO I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO EVALUATED THE ISSUE, AND CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION--BRAKE BOOSTER. HE SHOWED ME THAT IT WAS BUSTED. HE WAS CONSIDERABLY CHEAPER, SO I HAD HIM TO FIX THE BRAKE BOOSTER. IT FIXED THE ISSUE THAT I WAS FEELING IN THE PEDAL WHEN STOPPING, HOWEVER, THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO GRAB, EVEN AT SLOWER RATES OF SPEED (<25MPH). AT SLOWER SPEEDS, THE BRAKES GRABBED HARD ENOUGH TO THROW PASSENGERS FORWARD IN THE VEHICLE. HE CONTACTED NISSAN AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY MASTER CYLINDER, BUT ONLY IF IT WAS LEAKING. MY MASTER CYLINDER DID NOT APPEAR TO BE LEAKING, BUT IT IS QUITE OBVIOUS THAT IT HAS TO BE A FAULTY CYLINDER. I READ SEVERAL REPORTS OF NISSAN'S MASTER CYLINDERS LEAKING CAUSING THE BRAKE BOOSTER TO FAIL. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN JONESBORO SAID THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THE RECALL IS FOR LEAKING MASTER CYLINDERS ONLY. MY MC IS NOT LEAKING, AND THEREFORE, AS IT STANDS RIGHT NOW, IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. *TR

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WHEN SHE HEARD A NOISE AND SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. SHE PULLED OVER AND GOT OUT THE CAR. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE CAR WAS ON FIRE AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. *JS
WHEN DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE, ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS AND HEADLAMPS & RUNNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AND VEHICLE BECAME TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE, STRANDING DRIVER & RUNNING DOWN BATTERY DUE TO INABILITY TO TURN ANY LIGHTS OFF OR TURN VEHICLE OFF. NO CONTROLS RELATED TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WERE CONTROLLABLE. SOME EXAMPLES INCLUDE: 1. POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCHES DID NOT FUNCTION (NO EFFECT FROM PRESSING). 2. POWER WINDOW SWITCHES DID NOT FUNCTION (NO EFFECT FROM PRESSING). 3. PRESSING THE VEHICLE POWER / IGNITION BUTTON (MODERN EQUIVALENT OF STARTING KEY SWITCH) DID NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT, WHETHER SHORT OR LONG DURATION PRESSES WERE USED, AND REGARDLESS OF DELAY BETWEEN KEY PRESSES. 4. HEADLIGHTS & RUNNING LIGHTS WERE ON REGARDLESS OF THE SWITCH POSITION OF THE HEADLIGHT CONTROL SWITCH. THIS RESULTED IN THE DRIVER BEING STRANDED. BECAUSE THE VEHICLE'S LIGHTING WOULD NOT TURN OFF, THE BATTERY RAN DOWN, DISABLING THE VEHICLE FURTHER. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER. NISSAN SERVICEMAN INITIALLY REFUSED TO WRITE THE CUSTOMER PROBLEM DESCRIPTION AS PER THE CUSTOMER DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM. LATER, CUSTOMER CALLED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO REQUEST THE CUSTOMER DESCRIPTION INCLUDE SPECIFIC AND CORRECT INFORMATION ALREADY PROVIDED BY THE CUSTOMER SUCH AS VEHICLE WAS "COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE WHILE ALL THE WARNING LIGHT CAME [REMAINED TURNED] ON THE VEHICLE. DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK.", THE DEALER REPORTED THAT THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN FOUND TSB NTB12-041. DEALER RECORD READS: "REPROGRAMMED [SIC] BCM UPDATE AS PER TSB. VEHICLE IS NOW OPERATING AS DESIGNED [SIC] AFTER UPDATE." VEHICLE HAS FUNCTIONED NORMALLY SINCE. *TR

BRAKE LIGHT(S) ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED. BRAKE LIGHT(S) WENT OFF BY THEMSELVES ONLY TO RE-ILLUMINATE. A FEW HOURS LATER A CAR ON I-285 IN METRO ATLANTA "CUT ME OFF" WHICH REQUIRED ME TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD AND THE BRAKES FAILED, THE CAR DID NOT STOP UNTIL I ROLLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO GET BACK ON THE HIGHWAY, IT SEEMED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN LOW GEAR. THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE TO CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE AND THEN DISTINGUISH. *TR

WHEN PASSENGER (APPROX 150 LBS) SITTING IN PASSENGER SEAT, AIR BAG LIGHT OFF. THIS OCCURRED JANUARY 2012, NOTICED AGAIN 5/2012, BOTH TIMES TOOK TO DEALER. CONTACTED NISSAN DIRECTLY 8/2013. WANT THIS ISSUE DOCUMENTED AS IT'S NOT CONSISTENT; THEREFORE, WHEN YOU TAKE TO DEALER THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THIS AND DO NOTHING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS; HOWEVER THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO GET PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER ONCE AGAIN THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PUSH BUTTON ASSEMBLY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 5,000.
2011 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH STARTING VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK ANY OF THE DOORS, A MESSAGE INDICATED THE DOOR WAS OPEN, BUT IT WAS TIGHTLY CLOSED. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER NOTICED THE FAN WAS RUNNING. A DIAGNOSIS AT THE DEALER REVEALED A COMPUTER GLITCH.
SBRP215/55TR17 CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT ALL-SEASON TIRES ON MY 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE. I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE TIRES AND THE CHECK TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN OCTOBER 2010. I'VE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER COMPLETELY RESOLVED. THE LIGHT WAS A DAILY OCCURANCE AND AT 20K I CONSIDERED TRADING THE VEHICLE IN BECAUSE I DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT FELT UNSAFE - EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT. I FINALLY BOUGHT NEW TIRES AT 30K MILES BECAUSE I WAS TIRED OF HAVING TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRES EVERY MORNING. THAT IS HALF OF THE EXPECTED LIFE OF THE TIRES. THE TIRE HAD A LEAK THAT CAUSED MOISTURE TO GET INTO THE TIRE AND CORRODED THE SENSOR. NISSAN CLAIMS THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE SENSORS IN COLD WEATHER CLIMATES EVEN THOUGH IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAVE REPORTED THE TIRE ISSUE TO THEM NUMEROUS TIMES. THE WEATHER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SENSORS SEIZING. IF THE TIRES WERE NOT DEFECTIVE THE SENSORS WOULDN'T CORRODE. REPLACED TIRES AND SENSOR AT 30,990. *TR
MY VDC CONTINUE TO POP ON AND SLOW DOWN MY CAR.
AFTER NOTICING "DIMPLES" ON THE SIDEWALLS OF OUR CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO TIRES, ON A NEW 2011 ALTIMA, WE CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND DOZENS OF PROBLEMS WITH TREAD SEPARATION AND SIDEWALL FAILURES THAT LED TO BLOWOUTS. WE ARE GETTING RID OF THE CONTINENTALS WITH JUST 2,000 MILES ON THEM. IT'S WORTH $600 FOR NEW MICHELINS TO KNOW OUR 2,000-MILE DRIVE TOMORROW WILL BE ON SAFE TIRES. IT'S JUST UNCONSCIONABLE THAT THESE TIRES COME ON NISSANS, FORDS AND MERCEDES, AND THAT CONSUMERS AREN'T AT LEAST GIVEN A CHOICE TO OPT OUT. I CAN'T TAKE A FAMILY TRIP ON THESE TIRES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE MIRROR WAS DESIGNED TO STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT TIRES SIZE 215 /60 R16. THE DOT NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THE LEFT LANE IN ORDER TO AVOID A CRASH. I SET THE CLIMATE CONTROL TIMER FOR MY NISSAN LEAF TO TURN ON VIA THE COMPUTER THROUGH NISSAN'S CARWINGS APPLICATION. THIS IS TO PRE-COOL THE CAR BEFORE DRIVING. WHEN I WENT TO THE CAR, THE CAR WAS NOT COOL BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THE CAR WAS DISABLED AND UNABLE TO BE STARTED AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. I HAVE A NEW 2011 NISSAN ALTIMA SL WHICH I PARKED IN MY CHURCH PARKING LOT AND WENT INTO CHURCH. AT THE END OF MASS, AS I WAS LEAVING THE CHURCH AND WALKING TOWARD THE PARKING LOT, I USED MY AUTOMATIC START...THE CAR STARTED AND WAS WARMING UP. AS I APPROACHED MY RUNNING CAR, I WALKED IN FRONT OF THE CAR TO GET AROUND TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AND TOOK OFF MOVING FORWARD WITH NOBODY IN IT. I WAS HOLDING ONTO THE DOOR CHASING AFTER MY CAR TRYING TO JUMP IN AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AS THE CAR RAN INTO ANOTHER CAR IN THE PARKING LOT AND CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. MY CAR WAS DAMAGED AND STILL RUNNING. THE PARKED CAR THAT IT HIT WAS DAMAGED. SOMEONE IN THE CROWD CALLED THE POLICE AND THE AMBULANCE...I WAS ON THE GROUND UNTIL BOTH ARRIVED. I WAS TREATED FOR MUSCLE AND SOFT TISSUE STRAIN/TRAUMA/ SPASMS. I MISSED A DAY OF WORK. MY INSURANCE COMPANY INVESTIGATED THE INCIDENT BUT WAS UNABLE TO ACCURATELY PIN BLAME ON THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY...THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. THE MANUFACTURER, NISSAN, HAD A COMPANY CALLED AUTO EXPRESS INSTALL AN AUTOMATIC START MECHANISM IN THE NEW CAR BEFORE DELIVERING THE CAR TO ME. VIN# - [XXX]. PURCHASED FROM NISSAN OF DOWNTOWN LA. PURCHASED NEW ALTIMA FROM DEALER ON 2/1/11. BEFORE I REFILLED THE CAR WITH FUEL THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I RETURNED THE CAR TO BE SERVICED ON 2/8/2011. I WAS INFORMED BY NISSAN THAT THE SES LIGHT WAS FROM NOT CLOSING THE GAS TANK TIGHT ENOUGH (EVEN THOUGH I STILL HAD NEVER REFUELED THE CAR SINCE I HAD PURCHASED IT). THE LIGHT INDICATOR WAS RESET BY NISSAN SERVICE AND LATER THAT DAY IT CAME BACK ON. ON 6/23/11 I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN FOR SERVICE AND INFORMED THEM OF THE RE-OCCURRING ISSUE WITH THE SES LIGHT. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK FOR A FEW HOURS AND WHEN THEY BROUGHT THE CAR BACK THEY SAID THAT THY ADJUSTED A VALVE SETTING THAT THEY BELIEVE TO BE CAUSING THE ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER LEAVING THE SERVICE GARAGE THE SES LIGHT CAME BACK ON. ON 1/12/12 I RETURNED TO NISSAN SERVICE FOR SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE AND INFORMED THEM AGAIN OF THE RE-OCCURRING SES LIGHT TISSUE. THIS TIME THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AGAIN. WHEN I RESPONDED THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK HAD FAILED TO RESOLVE OR IDENTIFY THE ISSUE LAST TIME THEY OFFERED NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE. TO DATE THE SES LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE THE FIRST DAY I PURCHASED THE CAR AND HAS ESSENTIALLY REMAINED ON FOR ALMOST A YEAR. FURTHERMORE I HAVE RENTED A NISSAN ALTIMA 2011 MODEL ON SEVERAL BUSINESS TRIPS WHERE I HAVE HAD TO REFUEL THE CAR AND I HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED THE SES INDICATOR. I HAVE A NISSAN ALTIMA (2011) AND MY SISTER HAS A NISSAN MURANO (2013?). BOTH CARS REMAIN RUNNING WHEN THE "SMART KEY" IS REMOVED. MY CAR BEEPS 3 TIMES IF I GET OUT WITH THE KEY WHEN IT IS RUNNING, BUT NOT MUCH NOTIFICATION. I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM YET, BUT MY SISTER, IN HER 80'S, HAS LEFT HER CAR RUNNING FOR HOURS FREQUENTLY SINCE SHE BOUGHT THE MURANO (AT LEAST 5 TIMES). WE BOTH KEEP OUR CARS IN A CLOSED IN BASEMENT AND IF LEFT RUNNING COULD BE DEADLY. OUR BEDROOMS ARE DIRECTLY OVER THE GARAGE. IT SEEMS LIKE A SIMPLE TIMER COULD BE USED TO TURN THE CAR OFF IF THE KEY IS REMOVED FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES. AN OVER RIDE COULD BE PUT ON THE OPTION IF THE OWNER WANTS IT TO RUN LONGER FOR WINTER WARM-UPS OR WHATEVER. THE SOONER THE AUTO COMPLEX FIXES THIS THE FEWER RECALLS IN THE FUTURE. I REALLY WORRY ABOUT MY SISTER AND OTHERS NOT AS TECH SAVVY OR MAYBE WITH MEMORY/ATTENTION ISSUES.
