TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT UPON START-UP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V911000 (AIR BAGS), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MOSES NISSAN (202 5TH ST, ST ALBANS, WV 25177, (304) 727-2921), BUT A FAULT CODE WAS UNABLE TO BE RETRIEVED. THE DEALER COULD NOT OFFER FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. *TT
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG SAFETY FEATURES ON THE VEHICLE WERE DISABLED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE AN ERROR CODE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
VEHICLE HAS A SHUDDER WHEN DECELERATING FROM 65 TO 60. HAS PROGRESSIVELY BEEN HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. IN ADDITION TO THE SHUDDER AT HIGHER SPEEDS, IT NOW HAS STARTED TO SHUDDER AND LACK RESPONSE AT LOWER SPEEDS AT RANDOM. THE GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED AT LEAST 5 MPG SINCE ALL OF THESE ISSUES STARTED. I HAVE TAKEN TO NISSAN SERVICE TWICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. BOTH TIMES THE PROBLEM "COULDN'T BE DUPLICATED" AND THERE ISN'T A CODE THAT SHOWS ANYTHING WRONG ON COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. ALL SEARCHES FOR THESE ISSUES IN RELATION TO A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5 SL, RETURN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS AND NO RESOLUTION. CURRENT MILEAGE IS15,000. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO KEEP ALL REPORTS FROM SERVICE SO IF THERE IS A PROBLEM LATER I HAVE DOCUMENTATION THAT IT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. IT APPEARS NISSAN SHOULD GET IN FRONT OF THIS PROBLEM QUICKLY AS IT IS NOT LEAVING A GOOD MARK ON THEIR NAME TO HAVE SUCH NEW VEHICLES WITH THIS DRASTIC OF A PROBLEM. *TR
MY PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS LIGHTING UP STATING THAT IT IS "OFF". I DRIVE MY 72 YR OLD MOTHER AROUND WHO WEIGHS 152 LBS. MY ISSUE BESIDES THE FACT IF WE GET INTO AN ACCIDENT SHE IS NOT PROTECTED BUT SHE HAS A HEART DEFIBULATOR. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG "OFF" LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE WHEN A PASSENGER AROUND 130 LBS SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. WHEN THIS OCCURS (ABOUT HALF OF THE TIME), THE LIGHT ILLUMINATES UPON ENGINE STARTUP AND THE PASSENGER IS SEATED. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE LIGHT TO TURN OFF IS TO SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT WITH THE PASSENGER STILL IN THE SEAT. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG "OFF" LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN I START THE CAR FIRST, AND THEN THE PASSENGER SITS IN THE SEAT. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THE LIGHT ILLUMINATE WHEN MY 5 LB WORK BAG IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND I TAKE A SHARP TURN AROUND A HIGHWAY RAMP (TURNING FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS). THIS ALL OCCURS EVEN AFTER THE CAR WAS RE-PROGRAMED UNDER RECALL 14V138000

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V138000 (AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), HOWEVER THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD AT A RATE OF APPROXIMATELY 30MPH, WITH MY SIX MONTH-OLD BABY IN THE BACK SEAT, THE HOOD FLEW OPEN AND SMASHED INTO THE WINDSHIELD. I NARROWLY AVOIDED LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DESPITE HAVING MY VIEW COMPLETELY OBSTRUCTED BY THE PRESENCE OF THE HOOD ON THE WINDSHIELD. EVIDENTLY, I HAD ACCIDENTALLY PULLED THE INTERIOR HOOD RELEASE WHILE REFUELING BEING THAT THE HOOD RELEASE AND GAS GAGE RELEASE ARE RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. NEVERTHELESS, AS I AM CERTAIN YOU ARE AWARE, THE SECONDARY LATCH SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED SUCH A NEARLY TRAGIC SEQUENCE OF EVENTS. AS A RESULT OF THE HOOD COLLIDING WITH THE WINDSHIELD, THE VEHICLE HAS SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. *TR
HELLO I PURCHASE A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA IN MAY OF 2013 WITH 20 MILES ON IT..THIS YEAR IN APRIL OF 2014 I STARTING HAVE PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION.I WAS ON THE CRESCENT CITY BRIDGE COMING HOME FROM WORK WITH ALOT OF TRAFFIC MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDENLY JUST SLOWED DOWN AND WILL NOT PICK UP SPEED I PUSH THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR STILL WILL NOT PICK UP SPEED.I THAN TOOK IT TO NISSAN AND THEY HAD IT FOR A DAY CALLED ME TO COME GET IT SAID THEY RESTARTED THE TRANSMISSION..OKAY. AFTER A WEEK LATER IT HAPPEN AGAIN ON 5-14-14 AGAIN THEY KEPT IT FOR ANOTHER DAY AND CALLED ME TO COME GET IT..I ASKED THEM WERE THEY SURE IT WANT DO IT AGAIN BECAUSE I WAS SCARED IT WILL GET ME IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND HURT SOME ONE..THE MAN AT NISSAN SAID EVERYTHING WAS OKAY..SO OKAY AGAIN IT HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN WITH MY SON AND GRANDSON IN THE CAR THIS TIME.AGAIN SLOWED DOWN AND WILL NOT PICK UP SPEED ON THE BRIDGE CAUSING CARS TO BLOW AT ME LIKE I JUST STOPPED ON TOP OF THE BRIDGE.AGAIN I TOOK IT TO NISSAN AGAIN ON THE 5-20-14 THEY THAN KEEP IT AND PUT ME IN A RENTAL FOR 2 DAYS.THEY AGAIN SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM.SO I GO TO GET MY CAR AND YES AGAIN IT HAPPEN AGAIN..SO THE MAN AT NISSAN SAID WAD CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT WANTED ME TO GIVE THEM $240.00 FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS STILL UNDERWARRANTY SO I AM STILL STUCK WIT THIS PROBLEM.WHAT DO I DO NEXT.WAIT TIL SOMEONE GET KILLED OR HURRY IN THIS CAR..I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S NEXT.SO I HOPE THIS HELP ME OUT BEFORE ITS TO LATE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,919.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND SHOULDER INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHERE THE AIRBAG OFF LIGHT WAS ON EVEN THOUGH AN ADULT PASSENGER WAS RIDING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH THEIR SEAT BELT FASTENED. *JS I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG RECALL AFFECTING MANY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMAS. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP JUST ONE WEEK AGO FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND I INQUIRED ABOUT THE RECALL. THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL WHICH I BELIEVE INVOLVED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. HOWEVER EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL UPDATE WAS PERFORMED, TODAY JUST 5 DAYS AFTER RECEIVING THE UPDATE, ONCE AGAIN THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON WITH AN ADULT SIZED PASSENGER IN THE CAR'S FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I HAD TO STOP, TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE SITUATION.
I HAVE THE KEY-LESS ENTRY AND MANY TIMES WITH THE KEY FOB IN MY POCKET I CAN NOT OPEN THE DOOR. THE DOOR SENSOR DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE KEY FOB UNLESS I TAKE IT OUT AND PRESS THE LOCK UNLOCK BUTTON. AT TIMES WITH THE CAR IN MY GARAGE THE VEHICLE SAYS NO KEY CODE FOUND AND I HAVE TO EITHER PRES LOCK UNLOCK ON THE KEY FOB OR I HAVE TO PUT THE KEY NEXT TO THE START BUTTON FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT RECOGNIZES IT. I'VE TRIED TO SEE IF I COULD THINK OF AN EMI SOURCE EACH TIME IT HAPPENS, AND THE ONLY THING I HAVE NOTED IS THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN CLOSE TO A WALL. HAS NOT YET HAPPENED IN OPEN PARKING LOT. ONCE IS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS PARKED NEXT TO AN F250 AND I FIGURED MAYBE IT HAS TO DO WITH BEING IN PROXIMITY OF LARGE OBJECTS. IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 15 TIMES SO FAR FROM JAN TO APRIL 2014. *TR

WHEN I TRIED TO TURN VEHICLE ON, RADIO AND OTHER SYSTEM WAS ON, BUT COULD NOT PUT CAR IN GEAR, EVENTUALLY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT THE BCM HAS AN INTERNAL SHORT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND HAS UNDER 52,000 MILES, HAS NOT BEEN OWNED FOR EVEN 2 YEARS AND IT BREAKS DOWN WITH NO ONE TAKING RESPONSIBILITY ON THIS ISSUE ON A SEMI NEW VEHICLE. MY SISTER OWNS THE SAME VEHICLE AND I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL HAPPEN TO HER TOO. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND NUMEROUS BOARDS WITH PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUES OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. *TR
WHEN I GOT IN THE ALTIMA THE HOOD WAS SECURELY LATCHED. WHEN I HIT 25MPH THE HOOD FLEW UP, BLOCKING MY WINDSHIELD AND PREVENTING ME FROM SEEING. *TR

CVT TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THIS IS AN EVENT IN WHICH THE AUTOMOBILE TRANSMISSION AND THROTTLE SIMPLY STOPS WORKING WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. I EXPERIENCED THIS EVENT THIS PAST SATURDAY ON A TRIP INTO BOSTON. IT IS QUITE TERRIFYING TO BE DRIVING ALONG IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND HAVE YOUR CAR STOP FUNCTIONING WITH RESPECT TO HAVING NO POWER OR GEARS SUCH THAT YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OR ABILITY TO MAKE THE CAR RESPOND. *TT
THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON AND OFF WHEN SOMEONE SAT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT AIRBAG OFF. I HAD IT CHECK AND IT WAS RESET IN 4/2014. IT HAS INDICATED IT WAS OFF RANDOM TIMES WHEN THERE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THE RECALL OF FRONT HOOD LATCH AND HAD THE AIRBAG SENSOR CHECKED. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SENSOR AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND IT WOULD COST $700. FOR PART AND LABOR. I DO NOT FEEL IF A SENSOR IS NOT WORKING THAT IS NOT FROM A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. IT A DEFECTED PART AND IT SHOULDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE WARRANTY. ESPECIALLY BEING THE CAR IS ONLY A 2013. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GO THROUGH NISSAN. THEY HAVE CONTINUE TO TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. I TRIED EXPLAINING HOW THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I GOT THE CAR AND I'M NOT SO SURE THEY ARE HEARING WHAT I'M TELLING THEM. THEY SAY THE SAME THING AS IF THEY ARE READING A SCRIPT. THERE IS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THIS IS A DEFECT AND SHOULD BE REPLACED FROM THE DEALERSHIP. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS WHERE I NEED TO GO FROM HERE?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.

PARKED CAR AT MY OFFICE AT 2:40PM TO DELIVER A PRINTER. RETURNED TO THE CAR AND A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD HAD BEGAN TO APPEAR BEGINNING AT THE BOTTOM, NEAR CENTER, OF THE WINDSHIELD. THUS FAR IT HAS GROWN TO ABOUT 12 INCHES IN HEIGHT. IT SEEMS TO BE EXPANDING FURTHER. *TR

THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,445.

THE ADVERTISED MPG FOR THIS VEHICLE IS 38 MPG. 3/22/2014 MADE A TRIP TO TULSA, OK. FILLED UP AT I-430 HEADED TO TULSA AT 6,657 MILES. DROVE 401 MILES AND REFILLED AT 7,058 WITH 13.218 GALLONS 30.3374 MPG. FILLED UP AGAIN AT I-430 AT END OF ROAD TRIP AT 7,221 AFTER 163 MILES WITH 5.085 GALLONS 32.05506391. ALL HIGHWAY! WE BOUGHT A NEW NISSAN ALTIMA LATE IN 2013 WITH A HIGHWAY RATED MILES PER GALLON OF 38. WE LOVE THIS VEHICLE EXCEPT FOR THE GAS MILEAGE. WE WERE DEBATING ON A TOYOTA PRIUS V AND THE ALTIMA WHEN WE MADE OUR PURCHASE AND FELT WE HAD A BETTER BUY WITH THE ALTIMA AND EXPECTED TO GET CLOSE TO THE RATED MPG WHEN ON TRIPS. WE ARE BOTH IN OUR 60'S HAVE GOOD DRIVING RECORDS AND HABITS. WE PREVIOUS OWNED A NEW 2004 TOYOTA PRIUS AND A NEW 2007 PRIUS. I HAVE A SPREADSHEET ON THE 2004 THAT I KEPT FOR SOME TIME REFLECTING ROUGHLY 45 MPG, ABOUT 90% OF THE RATED MPG. THIS WAS AN AVERAGE OF DAILY DRIVING THAT INCLUDED DRIVING FROM OUR RURAL HOME IN THE COUNTY TO WORK IN THE CITY. WE DID NOT KEEP RECORDS ON THE 2007 AS MILEAGE CHECKS SHOWED WE WERE GETTING VERY SIMILAR POSITIVE RESULTS. WE FELT WE SHOULD REASONABLY EXPECT TO ACHIEVE SOME 90% OF THE 38 MPG WHEN DRIVING THE ALTIMA ON ROAD TRIPS. SATURDAY, MARCH 22, 2014 WE CHECKED AND WE WERE NOT GETTING CLOSE TO THE 90%. WE FILLED UP THE TANK AT THE NEAREST STATION TO I-430 ON COLONEL GLENN ROAD IN LITTLE ROCK ON A TRIP TO TULSA, OK. WE FILLED UP AFTER 400 MILES ON OUR WAY HOME FROM TULSA, AND AT THE SAME STATION ON COLONEL GLENN AFTER EXITING I-430. THESE WERE 564 HIGHWAY MILES ON THESE TWO TANKS OF FUEL REQUIRING 18.303 GALLONS FOR A 30.814 MILES PER GALLON. THIS IS ONLY 81% OF THE 38 EXPECTED MILES PER GALLON ON THE STICKER FOR HIGHWAY MILES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO COME CLOSER TO THE 38 MPG AND WHY IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO GIVE A RATING SO MUCH HIGHER THAN ONE CAN ACHIEVE. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE OCS SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V138000 (AIR BAGS). THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
WHILE DRIVING EAST ON I-20 AT ABOUT 70 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND. I SUBSEQUENTLY NOTED A CRACK IN THE WINDSCREEN FROM THE TOP CENTER OF THE GLASS TO JUST BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE MIRROR. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF IMPACT DAMAGE AND NO OBJECTS WERE SEEN AT THE TIME OF THE CRACK. OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS THE CRACK DIVERGED AND ENLARGED TO AN APPROXIMATELY CIRCULAR CRACK IN THE REGION BELOW THE MIRROR. *TR
I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM DAVIS-MOORE IN WICHITA, KANSAS ON JUNE 27, 2014. I THEN HAD TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED IN JANUARY BECAUSE OF A "STRESS FRACTURE CRACK." THAT WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN EARLY APRIL (AT LEAST EIGHTEEN INCHES) BUT DEALER SAYS IT IS FROM A ROCK CHIP, SO THEY WON'T REPLACE. THE ROCK CHIP THEY CLAIM CAUSED THE CRACK IS BARELY DETECTABLE. I PARKED MY VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE IN THE EVENING, IT TURNED COLD OVERNIGHT, AND THE NEXT MORNING THE CRACK WAS THERE. *TR
SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN JUNE I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL GO ON FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT WHEN SOMEONE OVER 100 LBS IS SITTING THERE. I TOOK IT IN TODAY AND THEY TESTED THE SENSOR AND RESET IT. THEY SAID THAT EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL AND IF IT DID IT AGAIN TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND HAVE THE PASSENGER SIT PROPERLY ON THE SEAT AND NOT HALF WAY. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND HAPPENS ONLY OCCASIONALLY. I KNOW THAT THE PASSENGERS ARE SITTING FULLY ON THE SEAT AND WORRY THAT THE AIR BAG IS NOT GOING TO WORK WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO. I SEE SEVERAL POSTINGS ON YOUTUBE ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM AND CUSTOMERS COMPLAINING THAT THEIR DEALERS CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM AND TO BRING IT IN WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON. I ALSO NOTICED A RECALL FOR OCCUPANT SENSORS ON THIS MODEL AND WONDER IF THIS PROBLEM IS RELATED. *TR
THE PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG DOES NOT DETECT ADULTS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND THEREFORE MAY NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH. MY CAR DOES NOT FIT UNDER THE PREVIOUS RECALL. NISSAN CORPORATE SAYS IT IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. BUT CANNOT PROVIDE A DATE OF A SOFTWARE PATCH. AS A SOLUTION, I WAS TOLD TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND RESTART IT EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS. *TR
