HEAD LIGHTS ARE SO DIM THAT I HAVE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH MY BRIGHTS
Unknown, but the issue is beneath the passenger seat where it seems a wire has shorted out and even became disconnected and i am unsure but pretty positive that it has something to do with the passenger side airbags because shortly after a diagnostic scan shows several airbag fault codes. Also since then my car’s performance has changed and now i am receiving diagnostic trouble codes for different electrical components such as mas air flow sensor low voltage and its causing my car to stall at random times while driving and even on freeways. It also has caused my car to slow down while fully accelerating on the pedal. Very big safety concern as im driving on the freeway with my family in the car as well.
I have a 2013 Nissan Altima. I have always had my car serviced by a Nissan dealership. I recently had my serpentine belt replaced and when the multi point inspection was conducted the tech found discovered the rear control arm is rusted, cracked and close to breaking apart. I was told by another Nissan dealership that an service campaign was out in reference to that same part, he put my VIN and said my car is not apart of that campaign. I purchased the part so that my dealership could do the repair. The Campaign is for (certain) 2013 and 2014 Altima's. Rear lower link salt states. I live in Illinois which is one of the salt states and have the corrosion and rust. Campaign is P9324. I contacted Nissan Corporate office and they issued a case #. This is a huge safety issue and Nissan should fix this issue. I see there is an attorney in California handling this very issue.
The lights on the car are very dim it had halogens at first so I put leds and saw that it did not a make a difference at all. I’ve been pulled over 1 once for them being very dim. I feel like it could put me and someone else at risk at night. I have to use my high beams to see all the time because the low beams are extremely dim. Me and a lot of people are at danger because of the headlight housing being too dim and lots of people are not liking the lights being dim.
Unknown
There was no incident but I went to the Nissan dealership because my airbag sensor light was on and I was told that the passenger airbag or all of the cars airbags were malfunctioning and would possibly not deploy if in an accident. This is a major safety issue and there should be a recall on this.
My 2013 Nissan Altima has serious electrical problems and continues to drain my battery, leaving me seeking alternative transportation to and from home, work, etc. The headlight low and high beams are dangerously dim! I have replaced the bulbs several times and the problems continues to get worse. I have seen litigation online with numerous people involved. I thought NTSB would have acted by now? I have also had numerous problems with the AC not working? I am getting estimates currently looking at a $2,000 problem. This car seems very unsafe and any action form your agency would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

HEAD LIGHTS ARE SO DIM THAT I HAVE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH MY BRIGHTS ON.
The headlights at night are so dim that I can barely see to drive. I know this to be an ongoing problem due to research. Nissan has never once recalled for this problem on my vehicle. It’s dangerous and prevents me from getting full use of a vehicle I paid for. Brights work fine
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact state while driving approximately 65 MPH at night, the headlights were dimmed making visibility very difficult. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who confirmed the failure with the headlights. The headlights were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V244000 (Exterior Lighting) however, neither the VIN nor the year, make, or model vehicle was included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
Low beams are too dim, even with replacing with new bulbs
I received a recall notice in the mail today for a defective hood latch. I called Bill Robertson Nissan in Pasco, Wa to set up an appointment to get the latch replaced. I was told that they are out of the parts that are needed to fix the problem.
The lowbeam headlights have gotten extremely dim. I have not driven this car at night for some time, and on October 5th, 2021 I did drive at night. When I switched my lights to lowbeam for oncoming traffic and could not believe how dim they were!! My lowbeam headlights barely projected 50 feet. There is no way in the world I can safely drive this car at night anymore!!!! I changed the halogen bulbs and it made no difference. After searching the internet I found out this is a common problem with this model/year Nissan. Why hasn't a recall been issued?!?! The only way I can safely drive this car at night would be to replace both headlight assemblies, and I do not have the $$ to do that. Please Help!
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle suddenly jerked and would no longer accelerate properly. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 97,722.
Very hard to steer and check engine light come on after a very loud beep.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that an unknown component needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and was also serviced under two unrelated recalls; however, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was sputtering and jerking while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was then taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the CVT controller needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

The contact stated that the headlights were no longer illuminated as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that failure occurred on several occasions and the high beam headlights had to be activated. The contact later received a notice for Nissan Service Campaign Number: PC861 for the replacement of the halogen headlamps. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed that the headlamps needed to be replaced; however, the dealer informed the contact that the failure did not meet the specifications to be covered under the Service Campaign. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the repair would be the responsibility of the vehicle owner. A case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
There is a delay in acceleration. It won't accelerate whenever I want it too. Sometimes it won't do it even if I press the pedal all the way to the floor. When it engages the accelerator it would do it at a strong force. When the problem happens I would have to constantly press and depress the pedal so it won't engage with a strong force. It happens usually that I have noticed when at a stop position ready to start to move.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that upon coming to a complete stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that soon after the restart, the vehicle again stalled without warning. She also stated that the vehicle would hesitate while in reverse with an abnormal, clunking sound coming from the engine. The contact then took the vehicle to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle and that the warranty had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
LEFT REAR CONTROL ARM BROKE WHILE DRIVING. HIGH SAFETY RISK. REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLY IS ONLY ATTACHED BY SHOCK ABSORBER. REAR SUSPENSION COMPONENTS SHOW EXCESSIVE RUST. VEHICLE IS SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE AT NISSAN DEALER LATER THIS WEEK.

2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO NHTSA AIR BAG SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BACKSEAT AIRBAG FAILED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY.
Gear shift stays stuck in Park and takes 10 minutes to get out of Park if the safety button works. This is a known problem with Nissan's all over social media and youtube has videos about this issue with the gear shift going out and not functioning. Please add this to the recall please take the time so consumers can drive safely again.
The gear shifter in my 2013 Nissan Altima will not shift. I turn on the vehicle. I then place my foot on the brake and push the button to shift gears and nothing happens. The unit is locked I cannot shift to any gear. I has to tow the vehicle home. I did not find out until later that a plastic piece can be popped out and a screwdriver or key could be pressed on the mechanism inside the hole to release the gear shifter to shift. In recent times there have been random shootings and car jackings in and around the Chicago area. I am very concerned with this for I or a family member could become a victim if the situation is presented. With no way to shift gears, we cannot avoid a potential emergency situation.
When trying to shift out of park the gear shift will not shift. We have had to engage the shift override button using a screw driver. From what we have researched online it has happened to many people with a 2014 Nissan Altima. This is dangerous because having the shift override button exposed makes it easy for anyone to shift the car out of park accidentally and without mashing the break to do so. We have had this inspected by a mechanic and it was going to cost over $1000 because we would have to have the entire shift assembly replaced rather than just the part affected by this issue.
Gear shift got stuck in park one day at grocery store. When trying to shift out of park the gear shift will not shift. We had to engage the shift override button using a screwdriver. This is dangerous because having the shift override button exposed makes it easy for anyone to shift the car out of park accidentally. We plan to take the vehicle to a dealer on 10/1/2021 to have it inspected. Second issue : low beam headlights are very dim not bright at all making it difficult to see at night without using my high beams which is dangerous to myself and other drivers.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the gear shifter would remain stuck in the park position and a screwdriver was used to unlock the gear shift lever. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the gear shift actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.
I had been pulled over for not having my lights on but they were, then pulled over again while driving with brights on,(had to drive with brights on to see road), Another day, I had turned off my brights to avoid getting pulled over for having them on. When I arrived at my destination I could barely see the road & hit a parked car. It just so happened I was in front of my daughters house, my destination , & it was her car I hit. I cant drive at night which has caused many other problem. Headlights might as well be off while driving at night cause they look same on. & WORSE in fog cause you cant use brights to help see either.
On Sunday August 29th 2021 my hood came up while I was driving and broke the front window glass and damaged both sides of the side hood due to the latch not being secured and lose and not being applied the right way.
I own a 2013 Nissan Altima SV with about 70,000 miles. It had an extended warranty, that expired late May 2021 and started have problems thereafter. The CVT transmission would cause the car to lunge and stall when shifting from park. The car would stall once you backed out onto the road. Several times at a busy traffic signal, the car would lunge forward, even though you had your foot on the brake. I had the car towed to the local dealer after the first incident. They kept the car about 4 days, but mainly worked on the recalls. They said, nothing showed up on diagnostic. However, I drove my car south about 1000 miles and the situation became worse. Made an appointment, at the local dealership and drove my car there. Within 1 hour, the service guy stated I needed a new transmission, a $5,600 repair. It was mentioned that I may want to contact Nissan about the situation. By reading many reviews, this is a serious problem that Nissan should fix. s
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while her daughter was driving approximately 70 mph, the hood disengaged without warning. The windshield was damaged. The hood was secured by the driver. There were no reported injuries. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact stated she failed to receive notification of NHTSA campaign number 20V315000 (Latches, Locks, and Linkages. The failure mileage was unknown.
The rear control suspension arm broke causing my car to rock back and forth as if the wheels feel off, prior to that the car was in reverse backing out of,parking spot and very large boom or breaking noise happened
While driving on the highway with my family (at the speed limit) we heard a noise and I lost control of the steering. There was no pre-warning. It felt like I was hydro-planing. We were in the center lane. Luckily, no cars were next to me. Definitely would have caused a collision. I assumed we had a flat tire. I was able to ease the car to the shoulder. All tires were OK. Car was towed to our regular mechanic. They determined a rear control arm had broken. It had rusted through. The other rear, and both front arms were in bad shape as well. They called local Nissan dealership to get the replacement part. They were then informed there was a manufacturer replacement warranty on the rear arms. (Why Not the Front?) Car was towed to dealer and they replaced both rear arms. I had never heard of this problem before. I had received no notice from Nissan of America. I had received notice of the hood latch recall, so I know they had my contact info. The car had been at two different dealerships in the past. Neither had ever warned me of the possible danger. We had to pay $47.48 for a replacement Rear Sway Bar Link that they had to cut to get to the control arm. Now we need to pay for an identical replacement on the front arms, which is not covered by Nissan. Nissan took no responsibility for what could have been a deadly accident. They offered no formal apology or compensation. They could not explain why this isnt a full recall. They could not explain why the dealers had not informed my of the issue prior.
Headlights are very dim even after replacing bulbs with led bulbs.
Experience delay acceleration on Interstate 15. The vehicle will not speed up from about 55MPH when pedal was full depress.
CVT Transmission failed when driving on interstate. The car lost power, jerked and stopped. I have a special needs child (3 year old) in the car during the incident and it almost put both of our lives in danger. We followed all the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations for the engine and transmission and changing the fluid and filters at the proper recommended mileage and time. All services including a transmission fluid (last one on Dec 2020) were done at the dealership. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING SIGNS. THERE ARE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES ALSO WHEN TESTED AT THE DELERSHIP. NO WARNING SIGNS ALSO. THIS IS THE SCARY PART OF THE PROBLEM. It just broke down all at once in the middle of interstate. When towed to the dealership, they said, it would cost about $4500 to replace transmission. My car has only 75k miles on it and Nissan extended transmission warranty up to 85k miles. Dealer refused to repair/replace the transmission indicating Nissan had already settled a law suite which covers only up to 7 years or 85k miles whichever occurs first. Since I used it for 9 years, they refused saying law suites are settled. We understand all cars have repairs, but not $4500 kind. When approached Nissan Consumer affairs, they mentioned they are not going to help and gave me an address if I would like to approach an Attorney. It's clear on the call with Nissan that Customers are not important. They know that their CVT transmissions are faulty. I'm sure they have an army to fight their faulty transmissions. But for an average customer with very limited resources, this is INJUSTICE. They know, we cant fight and few complaints will not hurt their sales. There are many reported customer issues related to CVT transmission. Please do something about negligence of Nissan installing faulty transmissions and gladly selling remanufactured transmissions at $4500. This is INJUSTICE to an average customer. Hope this complaint helps some current and future customers.
The OCS System in this vehicle has been faulty and on recall several times. Nissan refuses to take accountability. Whenever we take the car to the dealership all they do is clear the code out of the system but they are refusing to repair the occupant safety sensor. This sensor defect can cause the airbags to not deploy in the case of an accident which is not only dangerous to the driver but to others on the road as well, it is potentially deadly. There are several people with the same complaint and Nissan is insisting that consumers need to pay out of pocket to fix the problem although they know their recalls have not been sufficient to remedy the issue. At this point, there needs to be some accountability and reassurance that drivers and their safety mean more than a company's bottom line. This is a potentially deadly hazard that they should be responsible for repairing. The AIRBAG OCS light continues to stay on the dashboard, and the passenger occupant light does not adequately work. There are others online complaining of the exact same issue.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was serviced by the dealer in 2016, for a recall repair for the mass airflow sensor however, the failure recurred. The contact had her nephew replace the mass airflow sensor on three separate occasions. The mass airflow sensor was also replaced once by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that recall repair was only performed one time free of charge. The failure mileage was 108,000.
NHTSA-16V-244 Nissan refuses to fix this issue. My air bag light is off and will not go on if someone is sitting in the passenger seat. I need your assistance with Nissan.
my car over heats passanger door wont open from the inside its a latch issue ive told the dealer ship in mansfield and they done nothing about it front suspenction has issues still dealer does nothing about it every since they did the recall update with programing my car its like my tranny slips and jerks

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the brake pedal went to the floorboard when depressed and failed to stop the vehicle in a timely manner. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to her residence and then had it towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with rear brakes and caliper failure. The rear brakes and calipers were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 153,242.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle started hesitating. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact parked on the side of the street for approximately 10 minutes before continuing driving to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and had an unknown component tied; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while at a stop sign, the vehicle began to hesitate and jerk upon the depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact also stated that an abnormal whining sound would emit from the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure persisted until she started driving above 40 MPH. The contact called an independent mechanic who informed her that the failure appeared to be related to the transmission. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
I was driving in the highway with my 1year and 3 month old children and the rear control arm gave out causing my to swerve almost loosing control.
According to documents that Nissan has filed with the NHTSA, there are several factors that owners should consider related to the recall. Firstly, if the ODS system malfunctions, the passenger airbag will permanently suppress regardless of the occupant’s weight. If the system does malfunction, the (red) supplemental airbag warning light (SRS Light) will illuminate to alert the driver of the problem. Additionally, the (amber) front passenger airbag status light will illuminate to alert the front seat passenger. In December 2012, Nissan first became aware of the airbag defect due to an increasing amount of warranty claims regarding the SRS Light and/or the passenger airbag status light on 2013 Nissan Altima models. The automaker eventually linked the ODS system problem to a supplier (Tier 2 to Panasonic) problem. Evidently, its supplier had made changes to the sensor, which affected its performance. On February 21, Nissan determined that a recall was necessary after a two-month probe. Our vehicle was serviced in 2015 for this recall. Subsequently, we have had problems with the passenger airbag continuing to stay on. When trying to get an inspection it always has trouble because of this light. We have been told by Nissan it is not "their problem" however there are thousands of similar complaints. Nissan is refusing to remedy the situation that is a danger to vehicle owners and others on the road. Nissan needs to be held accountable for this known defect and error that can be a grave danger to human life. Subsequently, they need to issue a recall to further remedy the situation or allow vehicle owners the ability to have it fixed at no cost. This is a known error, this is not fair to consumer safety nor is it fair that a big corporation can get away with potentially harming others due to their negligence in repair.
