Twice in 2 months my hood popped opened while driving on the interstate with my family in the car. The second time it popped open I was in the HOV lane which consisted of only one lane so it was quite the scare especially because there was no where safe that I could pull over. I took it to the car dealer shortly after the incident occurred and they maintenance the secondary hood latch but never did anything to the primary hood latch which should have never had opened especially while I was driving. I put in a claim with Nissan regarding the primary hood latch disengaging on its own two times in 2 months. I specifically told them numerous times that I do not feel safe driving my car anymore in that I would like to be financially compensated because now I have to go out and purchase another vehicle. I explained to them that I did not plan on buying a new car especially because my Nissan only had 77,000 MIles on it and was paid in full. I had also told them that I'm on a fixed income and having to purchase a new vehicle along with taking on car payments would cost me and my family a tremendous financial hardship. As of today Nissan has not done anything to compensate me. They are saying that I must have accidentally disengaged the primary hood latch both times the hood popped open.
Lowbeam headlight projector malfunction. Even with replacement, low beam lights are not lighting the road.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the passenger’s side air bag warning light would remain off with an adult passenger seated in the passenger’s seat. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the air bag warning light had been illuminated on the instrument panel after the vehicle was serviced for an air bag recall(recall unknown). Years later, the check engine warning light also appeared on the instrument panel, and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the check engine light failure; however, the mechanic also informed the contact that the air bag warning light needed to be checked and referred the contact back to the dealer. The contact called the dealer that performed the recall and informed them about the failure that occurred years prior. The contact was informed that due to the long stretch of time that had passed since the repair, the contact would have to pay for a diagnostic to be performed on the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and spoke to a manager who later agreed to wave the diagnostic fee. The contact was then informed that the back seat assembly and side air bag sensor had failed; the contact was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
I bought my used branded 2014 Nissan Altima 1-2 years ago and did not have any issues with it until recently. Earlier this summer I received 2 notifications for my vehicle 1.) Recall notice to Reprogram Transmission Control Module and the 2nd doc. I received was a doc. which stated Nissan had extended their CVT Transmission warranty for their 2013-2016 Nissan Altimas. Some weeks ago later I started to have issues with my vehicle as it was not driving properly. I then started contacting both my local Nissan and Corporate. Nissan confirmed my vehicle VIN was one of the vehicles with transmissions issues and that I needed a transmission replacement for a cost of $4,324.11. I then opened a case and Corporate as there have multiple complaints/class actions for the same reason and they came back and stated they could not assist because I was out of the warranty year/milage. Nissan delivered a faulty transmission which they were very aware of at some point after delivery and although my transmission held off before it completely needed to be replaced I am looking for Nissan to assist financially for a new transmission which they quoted me $4,324.11 as they manufactured and delivered a faulty transmission which is a common issue with these vehicles. There have been class-action suits regarding the Continuously Variable Transmissions (“CVTs”) in model year 2013–2016 Nissan Altima vehicles.
While driving my car the component snapped/popped and caused me to lose control of my car and crashing into a curb in front of a pole. No warning lights came on prior to this happening. I have reached out to the manufacturer with no satisfactorily acceptable resolution. Currently I am in the hospital. The police was on the scene and the vehicle was towed to my residence due to being inoperable. I am physically, mentally and emotionally affected by this matter. Consumer stated she noticed a campaign but not a recall and her VIN was not included.
When the car is at a complete stop and the light turns green and it’s time to go it has a small delay for about 4-6 seconds where the car won’t move. It picks up after those 4-6 seconds. Once you turn off the car it resets itself but later on through the day it happens again . It happens to me about 2 times a day. It’s extremely scary when you’re in traffic and your car Just sits there because you can’t go.
On 5/17/21 I had just left Walmart in Abington on my way to pickup my glasses. After picking up my glasses i felt wobble in the driver's side rear tire. I pulled over on Pine St. and checked the lug nuts on each wheel. Everything seemed okay. I then noticed a traction sign on the dashboard. I put on my hazard lights and drove home approximately a mile or two. When I got home I backed the car up and when I got out I notices the rear wheel drivers side bending inward at the top. I had Westgate Towing tow it after approved by AAA to Bourne's Auto for repair where i had bought the car and purchased a repair/warranty contract. Nothing was covered. No rental for a week. Paid almost $911.47 for the repair. Worried it could happen on other side. Diagnosis: Left Rear Lower Control Arm & Lateral Arm and Alignment needed.
The low beam lights offer NO light, which is extremely dangerous when driving at night and also in hazardous weather conditions. I can't see the road at all and am forced to use my high-beams. I have replaced the bulbs at least twice now and still no improvement. It is a critical issue Nissan needs to address because you can't see the road, other cars, wildlife, etc. They are putting everyone who has this model in life-threatening danger.
While turning onto the entrance ramp to the highway, the lower rear control arm on the passenger side cracked and separated from the rest of the vehicle. The only thing holding the wheel on to the vehicle was a suspension coil. Steering and control of the vehicle became intermittent and I had no idea what was happening. I was driving with my pregnant daughter in the passenger seat. The "slippery road" warning light appeared on the dashboard but no other warnings or alerts. We were not injured. The vehicle was towed to our automotive repair shop. The auto repair noted that they had fixed this issue on Nissan Altima in the past and the repair was covered by Nissan. The nissanassist website states there is "a service campaign in states with high road salt usage to replace the rear suspension lower link. On some affected vehicles, and under severe corrosion conditions, one of the rear lower suspension links may corrode and separate at the bushing joint area". I live in Buffalo, NY area which is a high-salt state. Nissan will not cover this repair ($1146.57 includes NYS taxes) because the campaign does not include my VIN and was for 2013 models; my vehicle is 2014. The auto repair shop told us that the lower control arm in my 2014 vehicle was a 2013 part, so it was subject to the same defect that prompted the 2013 recall. Nissan refuses any assistance with this repair and says the VIN number is not included on the lower suspension link repair. If this type of corrosion in a high salt state resulting in breakage is a known covered issue with the 2013 model, and my 2014 model Nissan was assembled with the 2013 control arm parts, then my vehicle should not be excluded.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING.. REPLACED CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, REPLACED THROTTLE BODY, SPARK PLUGS, SAME PROBLEM.
THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM SEPARATED FROM THE REAR SUBFRAME WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ~50 MPH. THE FAILURE AT ~50MPH COULD EASILY RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE SINCE THE REAR WHEEL IS NO LONGER FULLY CONNECTED TO THE VEHICLE. THE STRESS OF ONE CONTROL ARM FAILING COULD RESULT IN THE OTHER FAILING AT THE SAME TIME IF THE CORROSION PROGRESSES EVENLY ON BOTH SIDES. THE 2013 MODEL ALTIMA IS COVERED UNDER A SERVICE BULLETIN TO HAVE THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS REPLACED AT NO COST DUE TO THE RISK OF FAILURE. THE SAME FAILURE OBVIOUSLY OCCURS ON THE 2014 MODELS BUT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE CURRENT SERVICE BULLETIN. THE FAILURE IS CAUSED BY CORROSION AT THE CONNECTION TO THE REAR SUBFRAME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING 20 MPH, SHE STARTED LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE STARTED WOBBLING. AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO WOBBLE, HIS WIFE PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND DISCOVERED THAT THE LOWER PASSENGER'S SIDE CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED AND DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT THEN CALLED HOSELTON NISSAN (66 MARSH RD, EAST ROCHESTER, NY 14445, (585) 385-3560) AND WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE DEALER FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE INSPECTED. THE CONTACT DECLINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR YESTERDAY, THE LOWER CONTROL ARM SNAPPED. LUCKILY I WAS JUST ABOUT TO GET ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED. I WAS COMING UP THE RAMP TO GET TO THE FREE WAY WHICH WAS A CURVE AND I HEARD A NOISE AND BRIEFLY LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE UNTIL I STOPPED. I AM SURE RUST CONTRIBUTED TO IT BUT MY MECHANIC WAS HE'D NEVER SEEN IT HAPPEN LIKE THAT.
MY NISSAN IS A 2014 AND ONLY HAD 59,000 MILES ON IT. MY TRANSMISSION IS COMPLETELY SHOT AND THIS IS UNHEARD OF. IT'S A CVT MADE FROM NISSAN AND THEY ARE VERY AWARE OF THIS SITUATION SO NOW I AM OUT $2600-$4100 BECAUSE NISSAN HAS DECIDED IT DOES NOT WANT TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND CREATE A RECALL.

THE CONTACT CALLED WEST HERR NISSAN OF ORCHARD PARK (3580 SOUTHWESTERN BLVD, ORCHARD PARK, NY 14127, (716) 954-8992) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STARTING UP THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SHORTLY AFTERWARDS FIRE WAS COMING OUT OF FRONT HOOD. THE FIRE MARSHALS WERE CALLED, THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOCAL POLICE TOW LOT WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BEING DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH or various speeds at night, the headlights were extremely dim. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the headlight bulbs needed to be replaced, however the parts were on a national back order. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.
THE RIGHT REAR LOWER LINK OF MY 2014 ALTIMA COMPLETELY FAILED DUE TO RUST, LIKELY CAUSED BY ROAD SALT. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF A STATE ROAD WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND PARTIALLY LOST STEERING CONTROL. HAD I BEEN TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS, I LIKELY WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED, INJURING ME AND MY SON. NISSAN HAS A SERVICE CAMPAIGN FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE BUT IT ONLY APPLIES TO 2013 MODELS. NISSAN WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR AFTER PLEADING MY CASE AND HAD NO RATIONAL EXPLANATION FOR WHY NOT.
THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM SNAPPED AT THE POC BUSHING WHILE DRIVING AROUND 20MPH.
THE LIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM. THEY DO NOT LIGHT UP THE ROAD AT ALL CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ENDANGERS THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS, OTHER VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL.
WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT THE LOW BEAMS DO NOT LIGHT UP THE AREA ENOUGH TO SEE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN.
AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 10MPH, THE CAR FELT LIKE THE CAR LOST ALIGNMENT AND REQUIRED A SIGNIFICANT RIGHTWARD TURN OF THE STEERING WHEEL (BETWEEN 1 AND 2 O'CLOCK) TO MAINTAIN POSITION IN THE LANE. ADDITIONALLY, AMBER ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND STABILITY CONTROL WARNING MESSAGES APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. AS I WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM HOME, I PROCEEDED THERE ON SIDE STREETS, KEEPING SPEED BELOW 20 MPH. I PARKED ON THE STREET, AND FOUND THE LEFT REAR WHEEL TILTED NOTICEABLY INWARD AND WITH LESS CLEARANCE IN THE WHEEL ARCH. LOOKING UNDER THE CAR, I SAW THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKEN AT THE PIVOT POINT WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE CHASSIS.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE THAT REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SUSPENSION SPRING AND AXLE WERE SEVERELY RUSTED, CAUSING THE TIRE TO TURN INWARDS WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT REGAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE 5 MPH TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PARKED AT HIS PARENT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE THAT THE REAR AXLE AND SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
REAR PASSENGER CONTROL ARM BROKE AT ATTACHMENT TO CAR BODY. ONE HALF OF THE WELD SHOWS CRACK AND PRIOR CORROSION. I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND NOTICED HANDLING ISSUES AND CAR SAGGING ON PASSENGER SIDE. I PULLED OFF TO A SIDE STREET AND DROVE LOCAL STREETS THE 4 MILES TO MY HOME. CONTROL ARM BROKE IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I WAS BACKING UP.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROWN NISSAN OF GREENSBORO (3900 W WENDOVER AVE, GREENSBORO, NC 27407) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE, AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,270.
THE RIGHT PASSENGER CONTROL ARM COMPLETELY CORRODED AND BROKE COMPLETELY SEPARATING FROM WHEEL

THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE CONTROL ARM HAD DETERIORATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MIKE BARNEY NISSAN (3676 SHERIDAN DR, AMHERST, NY 14226, (716) 833-9888) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONTROL ARM WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
I RECENTLY TOOK MY 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA IN FOR NEW SHOCKS AND STRUTS TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. WHEN THE MECHANIC COMPLETED THE WORK ON THE SHOCKS AND STRUTS HE COMPLETED AN INSPECTION OF OTHER PARTS OF THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR CONTROL ARM WAS CRACKED AND THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR CONTROL ARM WAS VERY RUSTED AND CORRODED, BUT HE COULD NOT FIND A CRACK. HE THEN ADVISED ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HE ALSO ADVISED ME THAT HE HAD REPLACED NUMEROUS NISSAN ALTIMA REAR CONTROL ARMS BEFORE, HE WAS TOLD THAT NISSAN HAD A CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE REAR CONTROL ARMS DUE TO THEM CRACKING. I THEN HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER HE ADVISED ME THAT ONLY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMAS THAT ARE IN AREAS OF THE COUNTRY THAT HAVE SALT ON THE ROAD AND 2014 NISSAN ALTIMAS IN CANADA ARE BEING FIXED BY NISSAN. I HAVE A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA AND LIVE IN OHIO. NISSAN SHOULD BE EXPANDING THEIR CAMPAIGN TO 2014 VEHICLES THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS THE 2013'S. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND MY MECHANIC FOUND THE CRACK DURING AN INSPECTION. IF HE DIDN'T FIND IT, I ALONG WITH MY FAMILY OR FRIENDS COULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN INJURED IF THE CONTROL ARM COMPLETELY CRACKED IN HALF AND CAUSED ME TO CRASH. I HOPE NISSAN ISN'T WAITING FOR A FATALITY TO CONSIDER A RECALL. $1300.00 LATER I AM GOING TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE FROM THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. CLASS:19-002 REF#: NTB 19-082 ID#: P9324
I RELEASE THE HOOD LATCH AND NOTHING HAPPENS. I HAPPEN TO GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE. MY DOWN AND THE HOOD. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, I'M ABOUT TO SLIP MY FINGERS INTO THE GRILL AND RELEASE THE HOOD LATCH. IF I DOWN PUSH DOWN ON THE HOOD, I WOULD JUST HEAR A CLICK AND THE HOOD WILL NOT GO UP. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.
The visibility of the headlamps at normal brightness are very dim. I have read about numerous lawsuits regarding this, including a class action, but when I have gone to the dealer with the information postcard that I received in the mail, I am told by Nissan that I am "outside of the window" to have them replaced with newer brighter lamps. Per the website for the class action lawsuit, it should be for 2013-2018 Nissan Altimas ([XXX], et al. v. Nissan North America, Inc., Case No.[XXX]) http://www.altimaheadlightsettlement.com/ I feel that Nissan is avoiding this issue, although there are MANY Nissan Altimas that have headlights that are not hardly bright at all. I personally had at least one issue with a deer strike that I believe could have been prevented if my headlights worked properly. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT MY DIM HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM ITS AS IF THEY ARE NOT EVEN ON. IT DOESNT MATTER IF IM DRIVING IN THE CITY OR COUNTRY ITS HARD AND GETTING HARDER TO SEE THE HIGHWAY. IVE COME CLOSE TO HAVING AN ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES. ONLY PREVENTION WAS SWITCHING TO HIGH BEAM TO BE ABLE TO SEE. SO IF I END UP HAVING AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS SOMEBODYS GOING TO BE SERVED AND SPEND MORE MONEY THAN WHAT THEY COULD HAVE BY PREVENTING IT. THIS IS DANGEROUS. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS? HOW MANY ACCIDENTS WERE CAUSED BY THIS THAT RESULTED IN DEATH? WE DONT KNOW BC THEY ARE DEAD!
LOWER REAR CONTROL ARM ON THE DRIVERS SIDE SEPARATED WHILE DRIVING DUE TO CORROSION. I LIVE IN WISCONSIN WHERE SALT IS USED TO CLEAR SNOW. I WAS DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON A FREEWAY.
DRIVING HOME AT 45 MPH ON A CITY STREET, HEARD A POP, LOST CONTROL, WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SLOW WITH HAZARDS TO REPAIR SHOP.WANING LIGHTS CAME ON IMMEDIATELY. RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT CONTROL ARM SNAPPED AND OTHER CONTROL ARM CRACKED. GOOGLE AND FOUND SAFETY NOTICE FOR 2013/2014 FOR RELATED TO STATES WITH HIGH ROAD SALT. US AND CANADA. US IS VAGUE POINT TO ONLY 2013 WITH CANADA STATING BOTH 13 AND 14. EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE COVERED BY NISSAN IS VERY VAGUE TO AVOID PAYING THESE REPAIR COST.. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURE, THESE WAS DEFIANTLY A RUST ISSUE CAUSED FROM ROAD SALT. I LIVE IN ILLINOIS.
REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM RUSTED AND BROKEN WHILE IN MOTION. LOSS OF STEERING AS WELL AS DRIVEABILITY BEYOND 10MPH
The contact's wife owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that at start-up, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and was informed to call the manufacturer to see if the repair would be covered under warranty. The manufacturer agreed to pay 60% for the cost of the repair; however, once the repair was performed, the failure persisted. The contact returned the vehicle to the same dealer and the manufacturer agreed to pay for the full repair of the air bag unit. Despite the second repair, the failure persisted, and the manufacturer stated that the repair was no longer covered. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING 65 ON THE EXPRESSWAY, I EXPERIENCED AN ODD 'SHIFT' IN MY CAR, GIVING AN ODD SWAYING SENSATION'I THOUGHT I MAY HAVE HAD A FLAT TIRE. SINCE I WAS CLOSE TO A GAS STATION, I PROCEEDED ROUGHLY A HALF MILE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND EVENTUALLY TO THE STATION. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THAT A PORTION OF THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY HAD COMPLETELY BROKEN FROM THE FRAME. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM AND ISSUED A "SERVICE CAMPAIGN" FOR 2013 ALTIMAS IN THE US BUT 2013 AND 2014 IN CANADA. THEIR DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS PART FAILS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR AND I LIVE IN THE "SALT BELT" THAT THEY SAY CONTRIBUTES TO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE CALLED THEIR CONSUMER AFFAIRS BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AS NISSAN'S RESPONSIBILITY AND ARE NOT WILLING TO REPAIR WHAT IS ALREADY BROKEN OR REPLACE WHAT WILL MOST LIKELY FAIL ON THE OTHER SIDE!
I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM CARMAX WITH A FULL UNDERSTANDING THAT IT WAS PROPERLY SERVICED. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS, FOR MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND OVERHEATING. SATURDAY MORNING I WENT OUTSIDE TO CRANK MY CAR SO IT CAN WARM AND IT WOULDN'T START. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, PAYING ALMOST $400 A MONTH FOR A CAR I BARELY DRIVE.
I WAS DRIVING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A POP AND MY CAR STARTED ACTING WEIRD LIKE I WAS DRIVING ON ICE AND SEEMED LOPSIDED. I STOPPED GOT OUT OF CAR AND NOTICED MY TIRE ON PASSENGER SIDE WAS POINTED INWARD AND MY BACK END OF CAR WAS LOW AGAINST TIRE. SOMETHING BROKE UNDER MY VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE REAR CONTROL ARM DETACHED FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WITHOUT WARNING. DUE TO THE DEFECT, THE CONTACT BEGAN TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE SWAYED FROM SIDE TO SIDE. DESPITE THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME WHERE IT REMAINED IN HER POSSESSION. THE CONTACT CALLED RUSS DARROW NISSAN OF MILWAUKEE (11212 W METRO AUTO MALL, MILWAUKEE, WI 53224) AND SENT OVER PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A DEFECTIVE REAR CONTROL ARM. THE CONTACT WAS THEN REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO INFORMED HER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
IN THE EVENING OF FEBRUARY 2ND 2021. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME ON COUNTY ROAD 12 (AT A SPEED OF AROUND 50MPH) NEAR LONG LAKE, MN. SHE HEAR A LOUD SOUND AND THE CAR BECAME MORE DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. THANKFULLY THERE WAS AN EXIT THAT SHE COULD TAKE AND SHE STOPPED THE CAR AS SOON AS THIS WAS SAFE TO DO. THE NEXT DAY WE HAD THE CAR PICKED UP BY AAA AND TAKEN TO THE NISSAN DEALER (WALSER IN WAYZATA, MN). THEY DIAGNOSED THAT ONE OF THE REAR CONTROL ARMS HAD CORRODED AND COLLAPSED, WHILE THE OTHER SIDE CONTROL ARM WAS CORRODED AND NEAR COLLAPSE. BOTH WERE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $1,700. I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND NOTICED THAT THIS ISSUE WAS SUBJECT OF A RECALL FOR CARS UP TO MODEL YEAR 2013 (IN THE US) AND UP TO 2014 IN CANADA), RECALL REFERENCE P9324 AND THAT WITH EFFECT FROM MODEL YEAR 2018, THE MANUFACTURER HAD CHANGED THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CONTROL ARMS AND THAT THIS WAS SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT. REPORTED TO NISSAN, CASE REPORT # 430 217 02, WHO WERE NOT HELPFUL. UPLOADING DEALER INVOICE AND SEVERAL IMAGES OF THE AFFECTED PARTS.
2014 NISSAN ALTIMA TRANSMISSION DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSTATE WIRH NO WARNING.IT WAS RUNNING FINE WHEN I LEFT FROM HOME
I WAS TRAVELING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY ON JANUARY 25, 2021, WHEN I HAD NO ACCELERATION. DESPITE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, I HAD NO POWER. THE RPM NEEDLE WAS ALMOST TO THE RED ZONE. I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF OF THIS HIGHWAY, ONTO ANOTHER HIGHWAY. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, AND RESTARTED IT. I STILL HAD NO FOWARD GEAR. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER (SANSONE, NEPTUNE, NJ). AFTER AN EXHAUSTIVE BATTLE BETWEEN THE DEALER AND NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, IT WAS DETERMINED MY TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BASED ON THE COMPUTER CODES. THE COST IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY - THE EXTENSION COVERED UP TO 84K MILES, MY ALTIMA HAS 101K. I WAS TREATED POORLY BY THE DEALERSHIP, AND NISSAN CORPORATE. I NEVER GOT NOTIFICATION ABOUT ANY RECALLS, APPARENTLY NOTICES WERE SENT TO A FORMER EMPLOYMENT ADDRESS - I RETIRED FROM THAT PLACE 3 YEARS PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE ALTIMA IN 2015. MY RECORDS SAY ITS A 2015, YOURS INDICATE IT'S A 2014. THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY, ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH. THANKFULLY, AS A POLICE OFFICER, I HAD THE NECESSARY SKILLS TO GET OFF THE ROADWAY, DESPITE ALMOST BEING IN A SERIOUS COLLISION. THIS IS AN EGREGIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND NISSAN'S LACK OF CONCERN IS ABHORRENT. I CANNOT AFFORD THE $4400 PRICE TAG TO REPLACE THIS TRANSMISSION, WHICH WAS POORLY MANUFACTURED. THE DEALERSHIP "FIXED" THE "COMPUTER UPDATE" TO THE TRANSMISSION, AS WELL AS "LUBING" AND NOT REPLACING THE THE FAULTY HOOD LATCH. NOTABLY, THEY ALLEGEDLY DROVE THE CAR THROUGHOUT THE DAY ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 29, BEFORE DECLARING THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FACT THAT THIS TRANSMISSION JUST QUITS, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, IS A DEATH TRAP.
My headlights have not been working for about 2 years. It’s $1200 to get them fixed and I heard there had been a rebate if you pay for it Nissan will reimburse you but there’s no way I can pay $1200 for headlights. My family elderly and I have spent a lot of nights heading to an hospital with dim lights. I was working where I got off at 10pm but had to quit. I’ve been pulled over for three times for my headlights. Although I really think it’s the part behind the headlight they said was bad. You can’t drive safely at night. Nissan please fix!!!

THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000.
