The transmission has fail it accelerates on its own, jerking, hesitated
The CVT transmission in my 2016 Nissan Altima causes my vehicle to experience sudden shaking or jerking and to occasionally stall after a traffic stop while driving. I have been in near accidents based on this CVT issue as there is no way to anticipate when my vehicle will experience the aforementioned problems. I have taken my vehicle to an independent service center where technicians confirmed that the issue lies with my transmission. My vehicle was also inspected by my municipal vehicle inspection service which also flagged the problem. I have tried to contact Nissan USA to assist in the resolution of this issue but it has not been helpful in resolving the issue as I am outside the arbitrarily-set extended warranty period due to the vehicle's mileage. The Nissan Altima CVT transmission is a public safety emergency that needs to be fixed and I hope Nissan USA adequately and equitably addresses this problem. As a consumer who has previously only owned and operated Nissan Altimas, I am saddened by the company's inability to fully help consumers who are endangered by its faulty transmission and who may be a danger to others on the road due to this known issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Altima. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V315000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
On june 10,2021 i had to put my car in the shop bc the engine was running poorly. My car stalled on me at intersection and didnt want to pull. I was in panic thinking a car was going to hit me. Luckly i was able to get it to pull to the nearest vacant lot. I immediately stopped and let all moving traffic clear the way. Then i got my car to go and i had to gain enough speed to make it over the overpass without stalling again. When i finally got tje car home my husband had it put in shop tw next day. Mechanic hooked it up to a machine and the codes for transmission popped up. My life was at risk as i had no oter choice but to play rush and roulette. Li
I was driving down the highway and my 2016 Nissan Altima began jerking and trying to stall, then jerking me forward again quite hard. I had to pull over in fear of hitting someone or my car becoming out of control. I have since discovered that it is the CVT transmission.
2016 Nissan Altima, driving down highway and car would not accelerate, then jerked forward quite intensely. I felt like I did not have control of the car and feared I was going to hit someone or be hit by someone. I was finally able to get the car pulled over to the shoulder and turned it off. I thought it was a bad tank of gas. Let it sit for a bit, restarted, and made it home. We ran it this way for a couple of days so we could run the 'bad' gas out. Filled back up and added additive. Nope, same issue as soon as the car gets warmed up after about 8-10 miles. Took it to my local mechanic to make sure it was not the Mass Air Flow Sensor that I had to pay him to replace a few months back which cost me $600. That came back fine, but he informed me it was the transmission, and is a known issue with Nissans. I began researching, and boy is it ever a known issue all the way back to 2013. What baffles me is they are still using this same transmission, and one day, this will cause someone to get killed because they are allowed to continue doing this. I took it to Nissan Dealership, and opened a case with Nissan HQ Consumer Affairs. They confirmed CVT Transmission. I am at 88,500 miles, warranty out at 84,000. They offered to pay 80% for repair. Not acceptable when this should be a recall. Please have this recalled for goodness sake before someone is hurt. I did not have any warning light at all come on.
Airbag light is on and Nissan dealership says they may have to replace up to 3 components to find the problem, not covered in warranty
After driving for a period of time (not too far, but more than just around the block) when I come to a stop at a stoplight or stop sign and try to accelerate again, there is a long delay of around 3-5 seconds and then my car will “launch”. I can push the pedal all the way to the floor and nothing happens. Then it will suddenly take off. This is a hazard while trying to turn out into traffic, if I would have to accelerate out of the way of a vehicle approaching me from any angle while at a stoplight or stop sign. Trying to cross intersections that only have 2 way stops, and for many other reasons that are pretty self explanatory. This sits very uneasy with me especially when my wife and child are riding with me. I brought this up to the dealer and they found no codes and could not recreate it, but did reprogram my ecm to most current programming per NTB13-054D. That cost $140 and did not fix my issue. It seems like to recreate the issue the car has to be driven for a little while (at lease 20-30 mins on the highway) before it begins acting up. It also seems like hot weather contributes to the issue as well.I drive an hour each way to work, so it pretty much acts up for me 2x a day since it has gotten warm out.
Car loses power while driving on highways or roads and had nearly cost me my life on occasion where the vehicle cannot complete a turn from loss of power and I cannot proceed and obstruct oncoming vehicle paths. It has also revved up out of the blue to 6000-7000 RPMs despite a holding steady pace on the gas pedal. The speed jolts and has nearly caused me to rear end unsuspecting vehicles. Sometimes the vehicle cannot accelerate and has NO POWER after coming to a full stop at a red light or stop sign. I have been unable to receive help for any of these issues despite many diagnoses and lots of money spent. And it was not made aware to me, an owner of a Nissan Altima vehicle that there is a known probability of failure with CVTs in use in Altima’s of my hear. That lack of effort and total disregard for the lives of customers in similar Nissan vehicles is absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable! Furthermore, they try to deny it and try to take zero fault. Nissan is denying fault for faulty CVT in my vehicle and made NO ATTEMPT to notify owners of affected NISSAN vehicles and is NOT rectifying the issue or admitting their lack of effort on making owners of affected Nissan vehicles aware of issues and threatening consumer wellbeing

Car intermittently fails to accelerate when gas pedal is engaged. Gas pedal has been fully engaged at times and car does not accelerate. Had issues in 2021 and now it is reoccurring. This issue has occurred while in interstate traffic, as well as, day to day driving around town.
I WAS RIDING ON THE HIGHWAY HEADED TO MISSISSIPPI WITH MY 2 BABIES IN THE CAR AND GOT READY TO GO UP A SMALL HILL AND MY CAR SLOWED DOWN AND WOULDN'T GAS UP THE HILL. SO I PUT MY HAZARDS ON, PUT MY CAR IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON, IT THEN PROCEEDED TO GO UP THE HILL WITH SOME HESITATION BUT IT MOVED. I THEN STOPPED AT AN AUTOMOTIVE STORE TO GET A READ OUT EVEN THOUGH MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. I GOT A P0776 CODE WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT ALL. THAT ALONE IS SCARY! SO I GOT MY TRANSMISSION SERVICED AND THOUGHT THAT WOULD FIX IT BUT WEEKS LATER I'M HAVING EVEN MORE ISSUES. THE CAR QUIT MOVING IN THE MIDDLE OF CITY TRAFFIC LUCKY ENOUGH NOBODY RAN OVER ME AND MY BABIES. SO I PUT MY CAR IN PARK, PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON ENOUGH TO COAST TO THE GAS STATION ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PAY TOO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS CAR AND KEEPING IT SERVICED FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR FAIL TO ACCELERATE AND IT HESITATED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE CODE SHOWING WAS THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 16 ALTIMA THAT JUST CROSSED 50K MILES ON 3/20/21 WHEN SHE COULD NOT ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. SHE NOTICED THE RPMS WERE MOVING HIGHER BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. SHE TURNED OFF THE CAR WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT. AFTER RESTARTING SHE COULD NOT EXCEED 40MPH. WHILE DRIVING THE RMP BOUNCED BETWEEN 1000 AND 3000 AND THE CAR "JERKED" WHILE SHE CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME. BY THE TIME SHE MADE IT HOME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I USED A CODE SCANNER TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THE CAR RETURNED THE FOLLOWING CODES (P0776PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID B PERFORMANCE OR STUCK OFF; P0841 TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE SENSOR/SWITCH A CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE). I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER THEY DID THEIR DIAGNOSIS I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE, NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED WITH ONLY 50K MILLS AND NOW NEEDS A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. THE TECH FROM THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS A COMMON THING WITH CVT TRANSMISSIONS, ESPECIALLY ON NISSANS; WHICH IS WHY HE RECOMMENDS CUSTOMERS BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. IF THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH CVT TRANSMISSIONS WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL OR REDESIGN TO FIX THE ISSUE? IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO NOT HAVE YOUR VEHICLE ACCELERATE WHEN YOU NEED IT TO. HOW MANY ACCIDENTS HAVE BEEN CAUSED OR LIVES LOST BY DEFECTIVE CVTS? IT IS A VERY SCARY THING TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE DO SOME ABOUT THIS. WE DO NOT WHAT THIS TO TURN INTO A TAKATA AIRBAG SITUATION. AFTER BEING WARNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IF YOU GOOGLE NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, YOU WILL FIND VIDEOS AND FORUMS WITH COMPLAINT AFTER COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE GET THIS ISSUE FIXED. MY WIFE AND I BOTH HAVE VIDEOS OF WHAT TOOK PLACE.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. UPON DRIVING A FEW TIMES, THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT APPEARS AND STAYS ON MY DASH ALONG WITH WHEN I HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE CAR, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR DOES NOT TURN OFF. IT IS NOW MARCH AND I STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. ACCORDING TO THE CARFAX REPORT I RECEIVED WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, A MAINTENANCE CHECK WAS CONDUCTED BY THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER CLOSE TO ME IN JANUARY, IT ONLY SHOWS THE CURRENT RECALL OF A HOOD LATCH (20V315 - THAT APPARENTLY NO PART IS AVAILABLE FOR). I WAS ADVISED BY A SERVICE REPAIR REPRESENTATIVE THAT THE AIR BAG SENSORS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT ARE BROKEN AND WERE NOT REPAIRED DURING THAT MAINTENANCE CHECK. I QUESTIONED AS TO WHY WITH NO EXPLANATION GIVEN. I ADVISED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD FALL BACK UNDER THE RECALL FROM 2016 (16V244) WITH THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE STATING THAT IT DOESN'T!! IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THIS TO BE FIXED UNDER THAT RECALL OR DOES A NEW RECALL HAVE TO BE IN EFFECT?? LOOKING OUT FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND FELLOW PASSENGERS. THANK YOU FROM A VERY CONCERNED VEHICLE OWNER.
THE CAR OFTEN HESITATED TO ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL TAKE OFF SWIFTLY. IT'S STARTING TO DO IT OFTEN AND THERE ARE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. THIS HAPPENED WITH MY DAUGHTER DRIVING AS SHE MADE A LEFT HAND TURN & ALMOST CAUSED HER TO BE HIT.
I WAS RECENTLY INFORMED BY TWO NISSAN DEALERSHIPS THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS NOT DESIGNED TO DEPLOY FOR PASSENGERS WEIGHING LESS THAN 140 POUNDS. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS DESIGNED TO PROTECT CHILDREN; HOWEVER, THERE ARE MANY, MANY ADULTS WEIGHING LESS THAN 140 POUNDS AND THIS WOULD PUT THEM AT SIGNIFICANT RISK FOR INJURY IN AN ACCIDENT. THANK YOU. ANDREA OLIVERA
Delayed acceleration issue. I am stopped at a light or in traffic and I press on the gas to go and it does nothing at all. This is occurring at various intervals...it just happens. I have been stopped to cross intersection and when light turns green, the car does not go at all for several seconds, 6-10 seconds. No warning lights are on. I have read this is a known problem for Nissan and there is no recall or action taken on their part. How many people have to be hurt or potentially killed before action is taken. I have taken it to the dealer and they cannot reproduce problem because it does not happen all the time and their is not error or warning code.
The headlights on the Nissan Altima are dangerously dim. In dry weather the only way to see at night is with the high beams on. When it is raining even that doesn't help. I paid several hundred dollars to have the bulbs replaced at a Nissan dealer and they advised they likely will not help. At no time did the Nissan dealer tell me that there was a recall on the headlights, so I found this out too late to be included. We have purchased four Nissans through the years, and this will likely be the last due to how unsafe this is. Nissan needs to fix this.
After some driving specially in hot temperature or after long distances, the engine becomes nonresponsive. Particularly when it comes to a complete stop, there is a delay between pushing the gas pedal and when the car starts to move. The delay can be as long as few seconds. This problem does not happen all the time but happens quite often in hot weather and long driving. It is very dangerous. In one occasion I was trying to make a left turn against the coming traffic, I had to make a short break for a pedestrian and then my car did not move and a fast coming traffic almost hit my car as I could not move fast enough due to the transmission delay. I took it to Nissan dealership last year. They did some minor work and it was fixed for a while but the issue is back again. I took it to Nissan dealership for repair last month but they could not reproduce the error code by just driving around for few minutes. They refused to fix it. I complained to Nissan and have talked to few representative about the safety issue I have with this car. They refused to take it seriously and they tell me that unless the dealership can produce the error code they can not fix it. This car is putting the safety of my family and myself in risk and Nissan does not care. Please let me know what I should do. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A DRY ROAD AND MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. SO I PULLED OVER TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED OFF AGAIN. AS SOON AS I STARTED MOVIE THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON AGAIN.
THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY FOR THE RECALL OF THE SECONDARY LATCH FOR THE HOOD. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND THE HOOD HAS BECOME UNLATCHED. THIS IS UNSAFE AND A DRIVING HAZARD. A REMEDY NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP OR SOMEONE MAY GET HURT. I THINK IT'S IRRESPONSIBLE THAT NISSAN HAS NOT COMPLETED THIS REMEDY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SUN VISOR DETACHED AND OBSCURED THE DRIVING VIEW. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.*DT*JB
ENGINE RPM IS UNCONTROLLABLE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 87781 MILES NO PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS FAILURE BECAUSE I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS MANUFACTURER FAILURE I HAVE EXCEEDED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY BY 3K MILES AND NOW I'M IN A BAD POSITION TO DEAL WITH THIS,I STILL OWE ON THIS CAR.THIS IS VERY SHAMEFUL FOR LETTING NISSAN GET AWAY WITH THIS DEFECT,NOW WE THE CONSUMERS HAVE TO PAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT-OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT, SHE HEARD AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE WITH AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE REACHING HER DESTINATION. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED FROM HER RESIDENCE TO JIM BROWNE CHEVROLET, INC. (11300 N FLORIDA AVE, TAMPA, FL 33612) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO MAUS NISSAN OF NORTH TAMPA (11011 N FLORIDA AVE, TAMPA, FL 33612) HOWEVER, THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHEN IM PARRALLEL PARKING I NOTICE THAT ON OCCASSION I WOULD LOOSE POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THE STEERING BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT
WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS OR JERKS BUT THE ENGINE RPMS CONTINUE TO INCREASE. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE RANDOM.
TRANSMISSION FAIL CODE P0774
AT NIGHT TIME CAN SEE NO MORE THAN 10-15 FEET AHEAD WITH LOW BEAMS HEAD LIGHTS DO NOT PROJECT LIGHT FAR ENOUGH OR BRIGHT ENOUGH REGARDLESS OF BULBS LUMINOSITY
CAR WAS FINE. HAD IT SERVICED 4 MONTHS AGO AND WAS TOLD CAR WAS IN GOOD CONDITION. TODAY GOT AN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. HAD IT TOWED NOW BEING TOLD IT'S A TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND WILL COST 4000 TO REPLACE. I JUST FINANCED THIS CAR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF. I OWE FINANCE COMPANY 343 A MONTH. I WAS TOLD IT SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL BECAUSE THE 2016 NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSIONS WERE RECALLED BUT MINE IS NOT SHOWING. WHAT CAN I DO?BOTH JOBS HAVE BEEN CUT DUE TO COVID.. IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME AND NOW A TRANSMISSION ON A FAIRLY NEW CAR. THIS CAR GAVE ME NO WARNING.. NO NOISES... NOTHING AT ALL TO INDICATE MY TRANSMISSION NEEDED SERVICE. ONE DAY IT'S FINE NEXT DAY MY TRANSMISSION IS OUT. PLEASE HELP. I CAN NOT AFFORD A 4000 REPAIR ON A CAR I JUST BOUGHT LAST YEAR PLUS PAY A CAR NOTE. CAN MY CAR BE CONSIDERED APART OF THE 2016 TRANSMISSION RECALL? MY CAR STOP RUNNING ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. I ALMOST GOT HIT FROM THE BACK TWICE DUE TO MY CAR SITTING IN MIDDLE OF HIGH TRAFFIC AREA/ LANE.
WHILE DRIVING MY NISSAN ALTIMA AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SHUDDER AND EVENTUALLY STOPPING PULLING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY AN 18 WHEELER THAT BARE HAD ENOUGH TIME AND SPACE TO SWERVE AND GO AROUND ME. THIS COULD'VE EASILY BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF A FAULTY CVT TRANSMISSION THAT NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT BUT REFUSES TO CORRECT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND AS EXPECTED THEY SUGGESTED REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS A $5,000 OR MORE REPAIR. SO I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS IN HOPE OF GETTING SOME ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN SINCE THE VEHICLE IS A 2016 WITH ONLY A LITTLE OVER 100K MILES. AND LIKE I'VE READ ON SO MANY OTHER FORUMS AND COMPLAINTS, NISSAN REFUSED TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THEY WOULD RATHER RISK SOMEONE BEING INJURED OR KILLED WHEN THESE CARS JUST RANDOMLY STOP PULLING WHILE TRAVELING ON THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC. I'VE OWNED SEVERAL OTHER NISSANS, AND EVERY ONE WITH THE CVT HAD THIS PROBLEM, I SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO PURCHASE ANOTHER PIECE OF JUNK NISSAN BUT I GAVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT AND TOOK A CHANCE TO ONLY BE IN THE SAME SITUATION WITH A BAD CVT TRANSMISSION. MY THINK IS NISSAN KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN A PROBLEM OF THEY'VE HAD SINCE THEY WENT TO THE CVT TRANSMISSION BUT THEY WON'T OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE OR REPAIR THE ISSUE. EVEN THE LADY THAT I SPOKE TO AT CONSUMER AFFAIRS SAID SHE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. NISSAN DID HAVE A CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED AGAINST THEM FOR THIS WHERE THEY EXTENDED THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTY TO 84K MILES BUT THEY'RE PROBLEMS USUALLY START RIGHT AFTER 84K MILES. I KNOW SOME WILL SAY 100K OUT A TRANSMISSION IS GOOD BUT I DISAGREE, IF YOU LOOK AT SOME OF THE COMPETITORS LIKE HONDA AND TOYOTA'S, THEY'RE DRIVETRAINS SURPASSES THE NISSANS BY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES. I OWN A 2013 HONDA ACCORD WITH THE CVT, IT'S AT 265K MILES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES.
Air bag lights stays on and has been sense the car had 60,000 miles i spoke to the dealer and would not take care of it back then saying the warranty was out and im at 70,000 light still on dash and ive seen multiple recalls on the lass air bad module. I believe my call is a recall for that as well air bag light stays off when front passenger are in the car or out the car
I HAVE A 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA. FIRST: I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH A REGULAR TRUCK HAULING AN ENCLOSED TRAILER DROVE OVER A LARGE PIECE OF PLYWOOD ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH IN FRONT OF ME (ALSO GOING ABOUT 70 MPH) CAUSING THE PIECE OF PLYWOOD TO RAISE OFF OF THE ROAD AFTER HE CLEARED IT AND IT FLEW INTO THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AND BOUNCED UP ONTO THE HOOD AND THEN HIT THE ROOF BEFORE FLYING OFF OF MY CAR. DURING THIS PROCESS, PIECES OF THE PLYWOOD BECAME STUCK IN THE GRILL AREA OF MY CAR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, THANKFULLY, BUT I AM CONCERNED THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SECOND: I'VE HAD THIS CAR SINCE JULY OF 2019. OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN I PRESS THE GAS, THE RPMS RISE BUT THE TRANSMISSION TAKES A BIT TO SHIFT INTO GEAR CAUSING A LAG IN ACCELERATION. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT IF I AM AT A LIGHT OR A STOP AND SHIFT INTO DRIVE SPORT, IT DOESN'T DO THIS. I HAVE GOTTEN IN THE HABIT OF SHIFTING INTO THE SPORT MODE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. THIRD: MY DAUGHTER WAS HIT TODAY BY A TRUCK CROSSING LANES TO TURN IN FRONT OF HER. SHE WAS TRAVELING AT APPX 35 MPH. THE TRUCK HIT MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AREA, DESTROYING MY HEADLIGHT, BUMPER, AND GRILL. IT WAS HIT HARD AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK, CAUSING HER TO BOUNCE FORWARD AND SMACK HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I AM CONCERNED NOW ABOUT THE SEATBELTS AND AIRBAGS AND AM MORE WORRIED THAT THEY ARE DEFECTIVE AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE SAME ISSUES. I LOVE MY CAR, BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE VERY SAFE AT ALL.
The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag sensor light illuminated and remained illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle but was unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer cleared and reset the air bag sensor however, after several months the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that the air bag sensor needed to be replaced; however, due to the cost for the repair the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,547.
ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH AS MY WIFE CAME HOME FROM WORK, SHE CALLED ME TO REPORT THAT THE CAR WAS BEHAVING STRANGELY, SHUDDERING AND LOSING POWER. WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANY DRIVABILITY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR SINCE WE BOUGHT IT, NOR ANY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS OF ANY KIND. SHE MANAGED TO GET HOME AND WHEN I TOOK A LOOK AT IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND WE DECIDED TO TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SATURDAY MORNING IN ORDER TO GET THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED. FROM WHAT WAS EXPLAINED TO US AT THE NISSAN DEALER TODAY, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1ST, WE WERE TOLD THAT UNDER NISSAN'S POLICIES, ANY CAR THAT HAS A "BRANDED" TITLE CAUSES THE NEW CAR'S LIMITED WARRANTY TO BECOME NULL AND VOID. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED ON FEBRUARY 7, 2017 WHEN IT HAD 2,356 MILES. THE VEHICLE TODAY HAS LESS THAN 35,000 MILES SINCE NEW. THE ISSUE IS THE CVT TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED, WHICH IS WIDELY KNOWN BY NISSAN TO BE IN AN ISSUE IN SEVERAL MODEL VEHICLES INCLUDING THE ALTIMA FOR AT LEAST SIX YEARS THAT I AM AWARE OF. WE ARE IN NO POSITION TO SPEND OVER $3500 PLUS DIAGNOSTIC COSTS TO REPAIR THIS VEHICLE, AND HAVING THE UNCERTAINTY THAT THIS ISSUE COULD RE-APPEAR AGAIN AT ANY TIME IN THE FUTURE AND WE WILL AGAIN BE FORCED TO SPEND ANOTHER UNDETERMINED AMOUNT SIMILAR OR HIGHER THAN THE CURRENT ESTIMATED COSTS. ADDITIONALLY, IF AND WHEN THIS TRANSMISSION IS REPLACED, WE FALL BACK INTO THE SITUATION THAT THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WILL HAVE AN UNKNOWN LIMITATION ON THE WARRANTY OF THE REPAIR. THROUGH CLASS ACTION REMEDIES NISSAN HAS EXTENDED THE FACTORY WARRANTY TO COVER THESE REPAIRS TO CUSTOMERS WHO ARE OUTSIDE OF THE REGULAR WARRANTY PERIOD (ESSENTIALLY THE SAME AS NOT HAVING A FACTORY WARRANTY), EXTENDING IT TO AS MUCH AS 120,000 MILES IN SOME CASES, AND EVEN TRANSFERRABLE TO NEW OWNERS. WE CONTACTED AND OPENED A CASE AT NISSAN, BUT THEY SAID NO. NO MORE NISSAN VEHICLES FOR ME!
LOCKS ARE UNLOCKING THEMSELVES DRIVING AND WHEN PARKED
REAR BRAKES REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AT 40,000 MILE. CAR IS MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE OWNED A VEHICLE WERE I HAD TO CHANGE THE BRAKES BEFORE THE TIRES AND THE REAR BRAKES WORE DOWN FASTER THAN THE FRONT BRAKES. I REPLACED ALL FOUR BRAKES BECAUSE THE FRONTS WOULD REQUIRE A BRAKE CHANGE WITHIN THE NEXT 500 TO 10000 MILES
The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the headlights failed to illuminate as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the headlight bulbs; however, the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S SECONDARY HOOD LATCH CEASED IN THE OPEN POSITION. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THE SECOND TIME AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERED WHEN THE HOOD UNLATCHED AND OPENED INADVERTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA NUMBER: 20V315000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
MY 2016 ALTIMA SR IS EXPERIENCING A SPORADIC DELAY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. IT WON'T REV OR DO ANYTHING FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS NO MATTER HOW FAR DOWN THE PEDAL IS. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT'LL GO. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND NO CODES. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF, IT'S LIKE IT RESETS AND HAS MORE POWER AFTERWARDS. THE DEALER HAS CONSULTED THEIR 'TECH LINE', THIS HAPPEN TWICE ONE AT 38000 AND NOW 68000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM AND HI-BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE ILLUMINATION WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE THE BULBS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT FAILED TO SERVICE CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN OF MOBILE (1015 EAST INTERSTATE 65 RD SOUTH, MOBILE, AL 36606, (251-476-7800). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING ASSEMBLIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
CAR HAS DELAYED ACCELERATION. IF I'M AT A RED LIGHT, CAR WILL NOT GO AT A READ LIGHT EVEN IF I PUSH GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN. I HATE IT WHEN IT HAPPENS AND MY KIDS ARE IN THE CAR. HAPPENS WHEN I'M TURNING TOO AND ALMOST GOT HIT YESTERDAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR
WHEN EVER I'M AT A LIGHT TO LONG, THE CARS BEEN RUNNING FOR A WHILE, OR I'M IN THE DRIVE THRU THE CAR TAKES A COUPLE SECONDS TO ACCELERATE. I'VE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY UPDATED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A REPEATED PROBLEM
GEAR SHIFT LOCKED IN PARK POSITION UNABLE TO ENGAGE GEARS
TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT AT 53,000 MILES. THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY EVEN THOUGH RPM IS REVVING THERE IS NO POWER TO THE CAR. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING TURNS OUT IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE WHEN YOU GO TO TURN CAR LOSES POWER SO YOU CAN EASILY GET T- BONED.THE CAR HAS EVEN TURNED OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY LOSING ALL POWER INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURRED BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER, CHICO NISSAN LOCATED AT 575 MANZANITA AVE, CHICO, CA 95926, (530) 891-1777, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE TRANSMISSION TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GROPPETTI AUTOMOTIVE (830 S BEN MADDOX WAY, VISALIA, CA 93292) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL NOR COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO COVER A PARTIAL COST OF THE REPAIR HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DECLINED THE OFFER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE VEHICLE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WILL NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO BE SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR DRIVE. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING IT OPERATES NORMALLY. IF AN OPERATOR PUTS THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THIS DEFECT IS REPEATED, HOWEVER NOW DRIVERS WILL BE RELUCTANT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THUS RESULTING IN CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE THE VEHICLE MAY UNINTENTIONALLY ROLL FORWARD SETTING UP THE POSSIBILITY OF PEDESTRIAN DEATH/INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING FORWARD IF THE BRAKE IS NOT CONSTANTLY ENGAGED. I AM SENDING A SCANNED COPY OF AN ALERT FROM NISSAN THAT ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF TRANSMISSION DEFECTS, I BELIEVE WHAT I HAVE DESCRIBED ABOVE IS AN EXTENSION OF THAT DEFECT AND THAT THERE IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE OF THAT DEFECT.
