SECOND TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED. BRAKES WENT OUT, GRINDING, HAD TO PUSH HARD ON THE PEDAL AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND WAS VERY LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T HIT ANOTHER PERSON. HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. MY MECHANIC STATES THAT MY DELTA STROKE SENSOR IS OUT AND I HAVE TO REPLACE THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY UNIT. THIS IS A $1,000 FIX. CALLED NISSAN AND THEY WILL CHARGE ME MORE AND SAY THEY HAVE NOT RECALLS ON THIS OR FOUND ISSUES. NOT TRUE. THERE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OUT THERE THAT LIST THESE EXACT SYMPTOMS WITH ARMADA BRAKES. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT PENDING SINCE 2011 BUT SOMEONE NEEDS TO MAKE NISSAN CORRECT THIS PROBLEM NOW BEFORE THERE ARE CASUALTIES FROM ACCIDENTS WHEN THE BRAKES GO OUT. *TR
GRINDING SOUND WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. BRAKE LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED IN THE DASH. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE BRAKES WORKING CORRECTLY IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF & BACK ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE & WAS ACTUALLY BROUGHT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER KNEW OF THE PROBLEM BUT SAID NISSAN WOULDN'T COVER THE COST & I WILL NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE & NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX IT. THIS IS OUR MAIN FAMILY VEHICLE TRANSPORTING MY WIFE & MYSELF ALONG WITH OUR 5 & 7 YEAR OLD. IT WORRIES ME THINKING THE BRAKES COULD GO OUT AT ANY TIME ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS DRIVING MY 06 NISSAN ARMADA AROUND 45MPH WHEN A DEER RAN OUT INTO THE ROAD I SWERVED AND TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES BUT LIKE A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK BUT THIS TIME I DIDN'T HAVE PLENTY OF TIME AND ROOM TO COAST TO A STOP AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART IT FOR THE BRAKES TO WORK PROPERLY WELL HAVING NO BRAKES I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE HITTING MULTIPLE TREES TOTALING MY ARMADA LUCKY I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT BECAUSE NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITH A IMPACT SO HARD IT BROKE MY COLLARBONE WHERE THE SEATBELT WAS I ALSO HAVE A HEAD AND BACK INJURY CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT NISSAN SELLING ITS CUSTOMERS VEHICLES WITH DEFECTIVE BRAKES AND AIRBAGS AND THEY CHOOSE TO DO NOTHING ABOUT THE MANY MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 40MPH I WAS COMING TO A RED LIGHT AND PROCEEDED TO APPLY MY BRAKES WHEN THE BRAJE PEDAL VIBRATED AND SHOOK MY ABS AND 2 OTHER LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH CAR TOOK SEVERAL TIMES OF APPLYING TGE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN. IT FEKT LIKE I HAD NO CONTROL OF BRAKING. THE BRAKES MADE A GRINDING NOISE ABD BRAKES WENT TO LESS THEN 50% OF ORIGINAL BRAKING POWER. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND LIGHTS WENT OFF AND BRAKING WAS NORMAL AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED PRETTY MUCH ON A WEEKLY OCCURRENCE SINCE THEN. I'VE CALLED THE DEALER AND ASKED IF THEY HAD ANY RECALLS THEY SAID NO.
I HIT A DEER ON JULY 5TH 2014. MY FRONT BUMPER PUSHED IN ON MY DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. CRACKED MY GRILL. BROKE OUT A HEAD LIGHT ON DRIVER SIDE. BENT THE DRIVER FENDER AND DRIVERS DOOR AND MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. A WEEK AND A HALF LATER MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON..... I CARRIED IT TO NISSAN AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT WRECK RELATED. SPOKE WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH NISSAN ARMADA. I NEED A RELIABLE VEHICLE AND I CANT TAKE THE CHANCE OF TRAVELING WITH HAZARDOUS RESTRAINTS.. I CURRENTLY HAVE A REJECT STICKER AND I DO NOT FEEL RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD NOT STOP OR SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR BUT THE BRAKES WOULD NOT OPERATE. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE THE BRAKES OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,733.
WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN TO ENTER FREEWAY WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE. HEARD A BOOMING NOISE AND THEN GRINDING. CAR WAS HARD TO STOP AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON UNTIL CAR WAS STOPPED AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED AGAIN CAR RAN AND BRAKED NORMALLY NO BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I READ A LARGE NUMBER OF SIMILAR REPORTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF ARMADAS AND NISSAN TITANS. BASED ON THEIR REPORTS THERE APPEARS TO BE A DEFECTIVE SENSOR IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER CALLED THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND SEEK ADVICE. DESPITE ALL OF THE REPORTS I HAD READ, THE REP SAID THERE WERE NO RECORDS OF THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. I OPENED A CASE WITH NISSAN,AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. I DID AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE ISSUE THAT SO MANY HAVE REPORTED. THE COST TO REPAIR THE PART IS $1000. I FEEL THAT THIS AN ISSUE OF A DEFECTIVE MANUFACTURE AND IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY NISSAN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CODE WAS CLEARED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, DRIVING ALONG AND THEN THE BRAKE LIGHT APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD AND WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND IT TAKES A VERY LONG TIME FOR THE CAR TO STOP. IF YOU GET THE CAR STOPPED AND TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON IT WILL RESET ITSELF BACK TO NORMAL UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO NISSAN AND THEY SAY "WELL ITS NOT HAPPENING TO THE CAR RIGHT NOW SO WE CANT DIAGNOSE IT" NISSAN SHOULD BE RECALLING THESE VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. IF YOU GOOGLE SEARCH THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE SAYING THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY BRAKES ARE NOT A RECALL, THEY ARE PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT PART TO A CAR NEXT TO THE MOTOR AND NISSAN IS JUST LETTING PEOPLE FLY AROUND AND NOT BE ABLE TO STOP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOTH A DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY IN OUR 2006 NISSAN ARAMADA AT THE SPEED OF 40 M.P.H AND THE BRAKE LIGHT SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON AND TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT DOWN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED GRINDING AND A STICKILY NOISE AND TOTAL BRAKE LOSS. FELT SCARED AND NERVOUS BECAUSE HAD THE WHOLE FAMILY. CONTACTED LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO VERIFY ANY RECALL DUE TO BRAKES AND NOTICED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE NET IN REGARDS TO THE NISSAN ARMADA BRAKE ISSUE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKES. MY BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THEN YOU WILL BEGIN TO HEAR A GRINDING NOISE AND WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE BRAKES GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. WHEN I TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND THEN BACK ON. IT SEEMS AS IF THE SYSTEMS RESETS AND THEN IT WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL. THEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS OR MONTHS IT WILL START DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. I THINK NISSAN NEEDS TO CHECK THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS HAPPENING TO MUCH. IN ADDITION, TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT CUSTOMERS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND STARTED TO SLOW TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A SCHOOL ZONE WHEN MY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON IMMEDIATELY AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND HEARD A GRINDING SOUND. MY BRAKES WERE NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT GOING VERY FAST AND MY TURN WAS UP HILL. AFTER STOPPING, I TESTED THE BRAKES AGAIN, BUT THEY STILL WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND THERE WAS STILL A STRANGE GRINDING SOUND WHILE PRESSING ON THE BRAKES. I DROPPED MY SON OFF AT SCHOOL AND PARKED THE VEHICLE UNTIL A TOW TRUCK CAME. I HAVE HAD TWO BRAKE DIAGNOSTICS DONE BY TWO DIFFERENT SERVICE STATIONS AND NOTHING CAN BE FOUND. WHICH ONCE THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME OFF IT STARTED FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. APPARENTLY, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO QUITE A FEW OTHER ARMADA OWNERS AND YET THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE. THE PROBLEM OCCURS OUT OF NO WHERE AND CAN NOT BE PREDETERMINED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS PROBLEM AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. *TR
ON MARCH 18, 2014 THE BRAKE PETAL GOES TO THE FLOOR WHEN APPLIED AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS COMES ON DASH. VEHICLE MAKES VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISES WHEN BRAKES PETAL ARE APPLIED. I HAVE VIRTUALLY NO BRAKES WHEN THIS OCCURS. I PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF ROAD WHEN THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP. HOWEVER I AFTER THE SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTART THE MYSTERIOUSLY GOES AWAY. ON THE APRIL 14, 2014 THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE REOCCURS AND AGAIN I APPLIED THE SAME REMEDY BY SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE AND PROBLEM MYSTERIOUSLY GOES AWAY. I'M AFRAID THAT WILL BE ONGOING PROBLEM AND OTHER 2005 & 2006 NISSAN ARMADA HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. ON APRIL 15, 2014 I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION BACK DECOMIER NISSAN (MANCHESTER CT) I WAS CHARGED TO RESET THE COMPUTER $124.16. THE DEALER COULD FIND PROBLEM DUE TO NO CODES AVAILABLE I'M NOT SURE THAT THIS WILL CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IF THIS DOESN'T SOLVE IT THE NEXT SET OF DIAGNOSTICS A PIN TEST WILL COST ME $440. I EXPLAINED TO THEM MY FINDINGS ON THE INTERNET AND THAT A LOT OF 2005 & 2006 ARMADA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCE THIS INCIDENT THEY DID NOT OFFER MUCH IN THE WAY OF A EXPLANATION. THIS IS A VERY SCARY AND UNCOMFORTABLE POSITION TO BE IN AND THANK GOD NO VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN WAS IN FRONT OF ME. THE NEXT TIME I MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY!!! LEAVING HOME MONDAY MORNING 3/3/2014 AND DIDN'T GET A 1/4 MILE FROM AND MY TRANSMISSION STOPPED PULLING! THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO TURN AROUND AND MAKE IT BACK HOME. I HAVE OWNED MY NISSAN ARMADA SINCE 2006. THIS PAST WEEK AS I WAS DRIVING AROUND TOWN AT 30 MPH OR SO, I BRAKE AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKES MADE A SPONGY CHOKING NOISE. I CAME TO A STOP (WITH DIFFICULTY) AND TURNED OFF AND TURNED ON THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES AND I AM TOLD BY THE SAME DEALER THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM THAT IT MAY HELP TO GET A NEW ABS SENSOR ON IT FOR MORE THAN $1000 BUT 'THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES THAT THIS WILL WORK'. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND IT SEEMS AS IF MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. IT IS VERY UNSAFE AND SCARY. I DON'T MIND PAYING FOR A REPAIR BUT WHEN THE ISSUE IS THIS SEVERE AND THERE IS NOT CONSENSUS ON HOW TO REPAIR IT I AM AT A LOSS AT WHAT TO DO. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS DEFECT. *TR

IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT IT INTO PARK, TURN OFF, AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INDEPENDENTLY AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE CAME FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR LIFT GATE OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HANDLE MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM TO EVERYONE ELSE. I WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED AND WHEN I WENT TO STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE GROUND, THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND AND THE "PARKING BRAKE LIGHT" CAME ON. SINCE I ONLY HAD A COUPLE MILES TO GO I DROVE HOME AND EVERY TIME I WENT TO BRAKE THIS HAPPENED. THE NEXT MORNING I WENT TO TAKE IT TO THE BRAKE SHOP AND THE LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE ARMADA DROVE NORMAL. THE BRAKE GUYS CALLED AND SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE AND THAT'S WHEN I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND 100'S OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEIR ARMADAS AT ALL SPEEDS BUT THE CONSTANT IN ALL SEEMED TO BE 2004-2007 ARMADAS. SEEMS NO ONE (INCLUDING THE DEALERSHIPS COULD FIX THE ISSUE) AND THE ONLY CONSTANT FIX WAS TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND THEN RESTART IT. THIS SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME-UP TO A COUPLE YEARS. I HAVE OWNED MY ARMADA 5 YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE BUT WANT IT FIXED BECAUSE I FELT WORRIED GOING 35 MPH AND ONLY A COUPLE MILES IN DISTANCE. *TR
THE VEHICLE DIFFERENTIAL CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AND CAUSED A BRAKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE SLIDE THROUGH A RED LIGHT INTO AN INTERSECTION WHERE IT WAS STRUCK IN THE SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. AFTER THE INCIDENT, I CHECKED THE BRAKES AND IT HAD STOPPED. THIS WAS ONE INCIDENT OF MANY. THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES STOP WORKING AND MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. IF I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT, IT WILL STOP DOING IT. THE VEHICLES BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS, AND BRAKE BOOSTER HAS BEEN REPLACED AND IT STILL CONTINUES TO DO IT. THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY TO THIS OCCURRING. IT DOES THIS PERIODICALLY WITH THE SAME RESULT. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS THIS IS AND HAS BEEN A PROBLEM INVOLVING NISSAN ARMADAS NATIONWIDE WITH SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. THERE ARE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS BEING REPORTED ON THE INTERNET ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS ARE DESCRIBED THE SAME WAY. IN FACT I RECEIVED A NOTICE ON A CLASS ACTION SUITE BEING FILED AGAINST NISSAN FOR THIS PROBLEM. I WORK FOR NHTSA AND ATTEMPTED TO DISCUSS THIS PROBLEM WITH ODI TO NO AVAIL. I WOULD EXPECT SOME SORT OF RESPONSE WHEN ME AND THE PUBLIC MAKE COMPLAINTS THAT CAN AND WILL BE LIFE THREATENING. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED AS WE WERE STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION. THE BRAKES SEEMED TO LOSE POWER AND THERE WAS A SPRINGY, METALLIC NOISE EMANATING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. IT ALMOST FELT LIKE THERE WAS SLIPPING GOING ON OR THAT THE DISCS CAME OFF TRACK. WE DROVE BACK TO A HOUSE WHERE WE HAD BEEN STAYING AND THE FRONT TIRES WERE REMOVED TO ENSURE ALL WAS INTACT. EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND WE DROVE 110 MILES TO OUR HOME. SINCE THEN THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I FINALLY REALIZED THAT IT MUST BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WOULD RESET AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE. THIS LAST TIME IT AROSE ON A LONG DRIVE INTO THE CITY. IT WAS 9/22/2014 AND AFTER A LONG DRIVE INTO THE CITY I PARKED IN A SHOPPING CENTER. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND REVERSED I NOTICED THE BRAKES WERE MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF AND TURNED ON THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES. IT DID NOT RESET. I HAD AN APPOINTMENT SO I DROVE ANOTHER FIVE STREET MILES IN A GINGERLY FASHION. IF I HAD ADEQUATE TIME TO STOP AT A SAFE SPEED I COULD DRIVE THE CAR BUT IT WAS HARROWING. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION I REALIZED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON IN MY CONSOLE. I DECIDED TO LET THE CAR REST FOR FIVE OR SIX HOURS WHILE I WAS AT MY OUTING. WHEN I RETURNED LATER THAT DAY THE BRAKES OPERATED FINE. IT WORKED OKAY ON MY 110 MILE DRIVE BACK HOME. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5-6 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE CAR AFTER BUYING FROM A PRIVATE PARTY. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES INSPECTED RELIGIOUSLY AND A CAUSE HAS NEVER BEEN FOUND. WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON SPONTANEOUSLY. WHEN I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL A LOUD GRINDING AND SPRING LIKE NOISE CAME FROM THE ARMADA, AND THE BRAKE POWER WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BREAK TO STOP. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM IS GOOD, NOT ONE ISSUE. HE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED THOUSANDS OF TIMES. THERE IS EVEN A VIDEO POSTED OF THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. AFTER CALLING MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT THIS CONCERN I'M WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE CASE FILED. ON APPROXIMATELY SEPTEMBER 24, 2013 I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY STREET HEADING TO THE STORE. WHEN APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON AND I HAD SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING POWER, WITH A GRINDING NOISE, LOOSE BRAKING MOTION. THE BRAKE PEDAL ACTUALLY WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR PANEL. I WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH I HAD APPROXIMATELY 70-80% REDUCED BRAKING POWER. IMAGINE HOW SCARY IT WAS TO TRY AND STOP A 6,000LBS VEHICLE WITH ONLY 20% OF YOUR NORMAL BRAKING POWER. I CAME WITHIN INCHES OF HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND PROBLEM WAS GONE WHEN I RESTARTED. I TOOK IT IN TO MY MECHANIC, WHO ATTEMPTED TO SEE THE PROBLEM FOR HIMSELF. HOWEVER, IT DID NOT REPEAT THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THEREFORE, HE COULDN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. A FEW DAYS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WENT IMMEDIATELY WENT TO MY MECHANIC SO THAT HE COULD SEE THE PROBLEM FOR HIMSELF. UNFORTUNATELY, HE WASN'T IN BUT ONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE. SINCE I DIDN'T TURN OFF THE VEHICLE THIS TIME, HE WAS ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE TROUBLE I WAS HAVING. I RETURNED TO MY MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND HE ADVISED ME THAT I SHOULD CONTACT NISSAN TO FIND OUT IF IT'S A RECALL ITEM SINCE HIS RESEARCH SHOWED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE ALREADY SENT INQUIRIES THROUGH THE NISSAN WEBSITE. HOWEVER, NO RESPONSE HAS BEEN GIVEN. I HAVE HAD RE-OCCURRENCES ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THE FREQUENCY HAS BEEN INCREASING. AS A MATTER OF FACT, AS OF RECENTLY, NOW ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD GO ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THEN I LOSE BRAKING POWER. I USE MY VEHICLE FOR WORK. THIS COULD BECOME A REAL ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED A VDC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKE SENSOR CAUSED THE VDC LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REMEDY THE BRAKE SENSORS; THEREFORE, THE DEALER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE SECOND DEALER ALSO PREFERRED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BE PERFORMED. THE DEALER STATED THE BRAKE BOOSTER CAUSED THE VDC LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THE STEERING SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND CAUSE THE VDC LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER RESET THE STEERING SENSOR. THE VDC FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED ALL THREE DEFECTS COULD HAVE CAUSED THE VDC LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,500.

I HAD MY MOM, AUNT AND 2 SMALL KIDS IN THE TRUCK WE WERE ON THE WAY TO DROP MY MOM OFF AT HER HOME. ONCE I PULLED UP IN FRONT OF HER HOUSE WE NOTICED THE TRUCK SMOKING. MY NISSAN ARMADA CAUGHT FIRE WITH NO WARNING. NISSAN HAS ADMITTED THIS IS DUE TO A RECALLED AIR COMPRESSOR UNIT WITH LIKELIHOOD TO CATCH FIRE. NISSAN WILL NOT REMEDY THE SITUATION AND IS NOW NEGOTIATING IN BAD FAITH. WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, WENT TO APPLY BRAKES TO STOP, VEHICLE SHUTTERED AND IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE ENGAGING. BUT THE ROADS WERE NOT SLIPPERY OR WET, NO SNOW OR ICE ON ROADS. IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE NOT GONNA STOP THE VEHICLE IN TIME, SWERVED OVER HIT THE CURB TO AVOID ACCIDENT. HAD VEHICLE TOWED, VDC. ANTI SLIP & BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED AT THIS TIME. PAID TOW BILL, PAID DEALER TO: REPLACE BRAKE BOOSTER, WHEEL SENSORS, BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND TWO TIMES FOR LABOR RATE TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE ISSUE. AFTER DEALER FAILED TO ADMIT THERE WAS AN ISSUE, BUT CONTINUED TO JUST REPLACE PARTS. I FINALLY CARRIED IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, HE EXPLAINED NISSAN HAS AN ISSUE THAT THEY ARE NOT RECALLING. THE ONLY TEMPORARY RESOLUTION IS TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY WHEN IT APPEARS. SADLY, I FEEL NISSAN HAS PROFITED FROM THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS RELYING ON THE DEALERSHIPS KNOWLEDGE THAT HAS NOT BEEN INFORMED BY NISSAN MFG. OF HOW TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. IN THE PAST WEEK IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME ON THE FREEWAY, I NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHT TURN ON. THEN WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL IT MADE AN AWFUL GRINDING NOISE BOTH WHILE BEING PRESSED AND WHILE LETTING OFF OF THE BRAKE. THE BRAKES WERE VERY SLOW TO WORK. I PULLED OVER CHECKED THE E-BRAKE TO BE SURE IT WAS OFF AND STILL THE SAME THING HAPPENED. WHEN I GOT TO WORK I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND HAD A CO-WORKER CHECK MY BRAKE FLUID WHICH WAS FINE. UPON TURNING ON THE CAR IT DID NOT SHOW THE SAME SIGNS, IT "RE-SET" THE BRAKE LIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE MORE SINCE THEN, ONCE ON A BUSY STREET, WHILE AT THE REDLIGHT I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND AGAIN, ALL BETTER. THEN AGAIN YESTERDAY ON THE FREEWAY. I PULLED ALL THE WAY OVER TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AGAIN AND YET AGAIN ALL BETTER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. LUCKILY MY KIDS WERE NOT IN THE CAR AND I NOTICE THE BRAKE LIGHT COME ON SO I CAN SLOW BY LETTING OFF THE GAS THEN ONCE SLOW ENOUGH USE THE GRINDING BRAKES TO PULL OVER. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN TODAY AND THEY ACT LIKE THEY NO NOTHING OF THIS PROBLEM. EVEN WANTED TO CHARGE US $150 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THEY SAID THAT EVEN IF THERE WERE A RECALL IT WOULD NOT COVER AFTER THE VEHICLE REACHES 75,000 MILES. WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH IT. A RECALL SHOULD COVER THE VEHICLE AT ANY POINT IN ITS USE. THE MANUFACTURER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAULTY BRAKE SYSTEM. *TR
