ENGINE LIFTERS NOT GETTING OIL FOR 2-4 SECONDS ON START UP, USUALLY AFTER SITTING UNUSED FOR OVER 24 HRS. ONE OIL GETS TO LIFTERS, ENGINE QUIETS DOWN. OIL FILTER TOO SMALL??
5-SPEED TRUCK PARKED ON STEEP D/W WITH PARKING BRAKE ON, FEW HOURS LATER PARKING BRAKE DISENGAGED BY ITS SELF AND ALLOWED TRUCK TO ROLL INTO GARAGE DOOR, D/W IS STEEP ENOUGH THAT TRUCH WOULD HAVE ROLLED IMMEDIATELY IF BRAKE WAS LEFT OFF BY ACCIDENT. DEALER COULD NOT REPEAT EVENT, BUT FOUND BRAKE CABLE A LITTLE OUT OF SPECS. *AK
THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. YET THEY HAVE REPLACED THE TIRES TWICE. THEY ARE TREATING SYMPTOMS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM. *AK
DIMPLE IN ALL FOUR FIEWSTONE WILDERNESS TIRES, SIZE P215/65R15, AND DOT# WAS NOT AVAILABLE. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHEN APPLYING ABS BRAKES PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHICH RESULTED IN A COLLISION. AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. *AK *ML
THE IDLE SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT SOONER OR LATER. THE IDLE IS VERY ERRATIC, QUITE OFTEN STICKING AT 2000 RPM OR HIGHER FOR PROLONGED PERIODS, EVEN WITH THE FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE ACCELERATOR. I HAVE SEEN THE SAME PROBLEM REPORTED IN SEVERAL USER GROUPS ON THE INTERNET.
AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 50 MILES AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, I PUT ON THE FOOT BRAKE AND THE MOTOR STARTED RACING. THE ONLY WAY IT STOPPED WAS TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION. IT HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN ONE EVENING BUT THE DEALER AND TECHNICIAL WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE IT. THEREFOR THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. I CONTACTED THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS OF NISSAN AND THEY GAVE ME THE SAME ANSWER. THEY RETURNED THE TRUCK TO ME WITHOUT DOING ANY REPAIR WORK. *AK
THE FUEL GAGE WOULD READ BETWEEN 1/2 AND 1/4 TANK. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT PICK UP FUEL IN THE TANK THUS THE MOTER WOULD SHUT OFF. THIS OCCURED FOUR TIME ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS, ( 58 IN CALF, 15 IN LAS VEGAS, 40 IN ARIZONA). THE TRUCK WAS IN THE DEALER FOUR TIMES, UPON THE FIFTH OCCURANCE THE POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF LIFE, DUE TO A CLASS 3 ACCIDENT, IS TOO GREAT. THE RUNNING OUT OF GAS OCCURED IN TRAFIC AND WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS BEHIND US. I'M JUST GLAD THEY LOCKED UP THERE BRAKES AND WE WERE NOT HIT AND KILLED. I HAVE A 4 PAGE REPORT IF YOU WOULD LIKE A COPY. THE GENERAL MANGER OF UNITED GOT A COPY,( DON FORMAN), THE REGIONAL MGR (HELENA)HAS BEEN INFORMED. NOTHING FROM HER OR THE 1 800 NOMBER FROM NISSAN. THE STRESS HAS TAKEN IT'S MARKS ON US.
WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR IS ENGAGED THE ENGINE WILL HUNT FROM 1100RPM TO 1800RPM.THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO LURCH FORWARD AS THE VEHICLE IS SLOWING TO STOP. *AK
SUDDEN ACELERATION WHILE DRIVING OR AT A STOP POSITION. VEHICLE BEEN IN/OUT OF DEALER SHOP AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. *AK

UPON STARTING UP VEHICLE IN THE MORNINGS, IT WOULD REV AT HIGH RPMS AND SURGE. VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE TO SURGE UNTIL IT CUT OFF. TURN IT BACK ON, AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS FOR AWHILE, THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 99-V-347-002/ MANUFACTURER'S RECALL B0073 IN NOVEMBER OF 1999, AND WAS STILL WAITING FOR PART. CONSUMER CALLED MANUFACTURER, AND THE PART WAS AVAILABLE AT DEALER, DAVID MCDAVID NISSAN, 11200 GULF FREEWAY, HOUSTON TX, PHONE# 713-943-4879. HAS CONTACTED CONSUMER TO CONFIRM OR SET A DATE FOR REPAIRS. COSUMER WAS REARENDED BECAUSE OTHER DRIVER DIDN'T SEE ANY TAIL LIGHTS ON CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. *AK
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE PEDAL WENT PARTIALLY TO THE FLOOR CAUSING A MINOR COLLISION WHICH RESULTED IN NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAGS *AK
WHEN TURNING STEERING WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT. STEERING WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY CORRECT ITSELF, AND IS CAPABLE OF STAYING IN THAT POSITION TO MAKE A CIRCLE. DEALERSHIP HAS PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE TO CONSUMER FOR THIS PROBLEM.*AK CONSUMER STATES THE POWER GEAR ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN REPLACED, THE FRONT END WAS ALIGNED TWICE, CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT PROBLEM COULD NOT BE CORRECTED.*JB
WHEN SLOWING DOWN, SITTING AT A STOP OR LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, VEHICLE ACCELERATES UP TO 1500 RPMS BY ITSELF. DEALER STATES THAT THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION FOR THE VEHICLE. *AK
1996 SENTRA GXE DEVELOPED PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM, AND TRANSMISSION.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS THE SENTRA. HE NOW HAS A 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER IN WHICH HE EXPERIENCED LINGERING SLIPPING, A JERKING FEELING COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION, REAR DIFFERENTIAL OR SOME PART IN THE DRIVE TRAIN. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS TRYING TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR, IT SOUNDED AS IF IT WERE HAVING DIFFICULTY RELEASING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD METAL PARTS/PIECES WERE FOUND IN THE BOTTOM OF THE TRANSMISSION PAN. THE TECHNICIAN HAD DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO BE A DEFECTIVE DRIVE SHAFT CENTER SUPPORT BEARING, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. *JB
MASTER CYLINDER FAILED, CAUSING CONSUMER TO RUN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND THEN HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WITHOUT ANY WARNING BEFORE AND EVEN AFTER INCIDENT. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IS LOOSE ,WILL NOT COMPLETLY STAY UP UNLESS IT'S ROLLED UP OR DOWN , DEALER CLAIMS A DESIGN DEFECT. *AK
NHTSA RECALL 99V347002/MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 99V347002 CONCERNING HEADLIGHTS. NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. CALLED ON 28-JAN2-000, WAS TOLD TO BRING VEHICLE IN ANYTIME. DELTA CHEVROLET, OLDSMOBILE, NISSAN 401 GEORGE ST 662-453-4211. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 35 TO 40MPH FRONT END HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE AND NEITHER DRIVER'S SIDE NOR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS - THEIR REPLY WAS BEDFORD NISSAN AND TECHLINE DETERMINE VEHICLE IS OPERATING NORMALLY. MY CONCERN ABOUT IDLE IS NOT DUE TO ANY DEFECT IN THE WAY VEHICLE WAS BUILT - THIS CONDITION IS NORMAL AND CHARACTERISTIC OF VEHICLE. I AM UNSATISFIELD WITH THIS RESPONSE - SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER HAVE NOT SOLVED THIS PROBLEM. 1500 RPM'S IN THIRD GEAR IS 25 MPH AND IN FOURTH GEAR IT IS 30 MPH. RPM'S WILL NOT DROP OFF UNTIL TRANSMISSION IS PUT IN NEUTRAL. NISSAN DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AS A PROBLEM. *AK
REAR SUSPENSION TO SOFT, VEHICLE REACTS WITH BODY SWAY TO WIND TURBULENCE AROUND 60 MPH, SIDE WIND, SIDE AROUND SEMI-TRUCKS. FEELS LIKE TIRE BAD TIRE DRIFT, DEALER ROTATED TIRES, NO-HELP. BODY SWAY BAD ENOUGH IT'S SCARY TO DRIVE SOMETIMES, WIFE WON'T ON EXPRESSWAY. THERE HAS TO BE A FIX. *AK
2000 NISSAN FRONTIER IS A PICKUP WITH A HOLE FOR A TOWING BALL YET IT HAS NO "PIGTAIL" TO ALLOW SAFE OPERATION OF TRAILER WITH LIGHTS. I WAS NOT INFORMED IT IS A $65 ADD ON BUT THAT DIDN'T MATTER. WHILE ON VACATION HALF DOZEN DEALERS AND ALL NAPCO STORES CONTACTED DID NOT HAVE CONVERSION UNIT ON HAND. 2,500 MILES WITHOUT TAIL LIGHTS IS NOT SAFE.
NISSAN FRONTIER IS A PICKUP TRUCK WITH REAR BUMPER FITTED FOR TOW BALL YET IT HAS NO ELECTRICAL "PIGTAIL" TO PROVIDE SAFETY LIGHTING TO TRAILER. I WAS NOT ADVISED I NEEDED A $65 ADD ON TO SAFELY OPERATE ON THE ROADWAYS. WORSE HALF A DOZEN DEALERS AND ALL NAPA STORES ENCOUNTERED WHILE ON VACATION DID NOT HAVE NECESSARY UNITS. 2,500 MILES WITHOUT TAIL LIGHTS IS NOT SAFE.
NISSAN DEALER HAS ATTEMPETED SEVERAL TIMES TO FIX A VIBRATION PROBLEM THAT GETS WORSE WITH SPEEDS BETWEEN 65-80MPH. THEY CLAIM OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS HT SERIES TIRES. THEY HAVE AGREED TO REPLACE TWO. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P215/65R15 )
PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS THE CHEAP MODEL THAT DOES NOT GIVE THE CORRECT DISTANCE OF THE VEHICLE ON THAT SIDE. IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR A PERSON TO LOOK AT THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR (WHICH IS TRUE) THE INSIDE MIRROR (WHICH IS TRUE) AND THEN YOUR EYES HAVE TO CHANGE FOCUS BECAUSE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS LIKE LOOKING THROUGH A MICROSCOPE. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL DEMAND ON YOUR EYES AND VERY DANGEROUS AT THE FREEWAY HIGHT SPEEDS BECAUSE OF DESECPTIVE DISTANCE PERCEIVED AFTER LOOKING THROUGH LEFT SIDE OR INSIDE MIRROR. I AM ASKING FOR A RECALL OF ALL THESE CHEAP MIRRORS AND HAVE ALMOST HAD ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE DECEPTION OF THESE MIRRORS. AT THE COST OF THE VEHICLES THESE DAYS, THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PUT THIS CHEAP MIRROR AT A PLACE THAT IS VERY KEY TO TODAY'S DRIVERS SAFETY.
AFTER PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE CONSUMER NOTICE VIBRATION DUE TO FAULTY TIRE, CONSUMER REPLACED ALL FOUR FIRESTONE WILDERNESS HT TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND AND REQUEST REIMBURESEMENT. NLM
CONSUMER HAS EXPERIENCED EXTREME WEAR ON TIRES AT ONLY 139 MILES ON 2 FRONT GENERAL TIRES, THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AND AGAIN AT ONLY 962 MILES THE TIRES STARTED WEARING AGAIN, THE CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED OTHER FRONTIER OWNERS WITH DIFFERENT TIRE MAKES/MODELS WITH THE SAME WEAR PROBLEM ON THEIR TIRES. *SLC
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS LIFTED OUT OF ITS COMPARTMENT, A NEW COVER WAS INSTALLED BUT THIS DID NOT ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM. NLM
WILDERNESS HT FIRESTONE (P215/65R15) TIRES HAVE UNDULATIONS IN SIDEWALLS, CONSUMER WAS ADVISED BY FIRESTONE DEALER THAT WAS NORMAL, CONSUMER HAS REPORTED TO FIRESTONE CONSUMER AFFAIRS THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD OF THE TIRES. *JB

PROBLEM WITH DRIVESHAFT HANGER BEARING, INVOLVES A TWO PIECE DRIVE SHAFT. BEARING THAT CONNECTS TWO SHAFTS FAULTY. VIBRATION ON ACCELERATION BECOMES WORSE AROUND 26,000 MILES. FAILURE TO REPLACE COULD CAUSE DRIVESHAFT TO FALL OUT. AFTER BEING REPLACE TWICE BOLTS HOLDING HANGER BEARING IN PLACE WEAR AND DO NOT HOLD SHAFT IN PLACE. RUBBER SURROUNDING BEARING RIPS AND FALLS APART.
WE OWN TWO 2000 FRONTIERS, AN BOTH TRUCKS HAVE THE BROKEN SWAY BAR SUSPENSION BOLTS. SINCE THE ORIGINAL PRODUCTION BOTS WERE USED NISSIAN HAS INCRESED THE REPLACEMENT BOLT IN DIAMETER AND FROM A #5 HARDNESS TO A # 8 HARDNESS BOLT. THE PROBLEM IS THEY ONLY REPLACE THE FAILED BOLT THAT FAILS IF IT IS IN WARRANTY. IN BOTH 2000 TRUCKS WE OWN THE LEFT FRON BOLTS HAVE FAILED WITH AFFECT SWAY CONTROL OF THE TRUCKS NISSAN CLAIMS THEE IS NOT A PROBLEM, BUT THE LOU FUSZ NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN ST. LOUIS ADMITTED THAT THE STOCK THE BOLTS BECAUSE THEY HAVE SUCH A HIGH FAILURE RATE WITH TE TRUCKS THAT ARE COMING INTO THEIR DEALERSHIP. PERHPS IT'S TIME TO FIND OUT HOW MANY TRUCKS ARE OUT THERE WITH BROKEN SUSPENSION SYSTEMS. THE FIRST FAILED TRUCK WAS DICOVERED BY AN ALERT SERVICE INSPECTION TECH WERE WE SERVICE OUR VEHICLES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIGGER PROBLEM THAN NISSAN IS WILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE.*AK

WHEN COMING TO A STOP LIGHT AND APPLYING BRAKES, THEY FAILED TO STOP THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK HAD CONTINUOUS MOTION INTO THE INTERSECTION AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE DRIVERS REAR TIRE AREA. THE PEDAL WAS HALF WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR UPON IMPACT AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *MR
