FUEL GAUGE READS HALF TANK WHEN ACTUALLY EMPTY. VERY DANGEROUS. RAN OUT OF GAS ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE THAT WAS 3 LANES WIDE. I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE WHEN ENGINE STOPPED. POWER STEERING AND BRAKES GO TO MANUAL WHEN ENGINE STOPS. HAD TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER ACROSS 2 LANES TO THE RIGHT WITH NO POWER STEERING AND NO POWER BRAKES WHILE VEHICLE WAS QUICKLY LOSING SPEED. NEARLY WAS HIT SEVERAL TIMES WHILE CHANGING LANES. VEHICLE HAD SLOWED TO ABOUT 25 MPH. WHEN SEMI MUST HAVE FIGURED I HAD NO POWER AND STAYED BEHIND ME BLOCKING TWO LANES SO I COULD GET TO THE SHOULDER. PROBABLY SAVED MY LIFE AND PREVENTED A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS UNRELIABLE FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM SHOULD BE RECALLED REGARDLESS OF AGE OF VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED.
THE GAS GAUGE MOSTLY SHOWS EMPTY ON A FULL TANK OF GAS AND THE FUEL LIGHT ON THE DASH STAYS LIT. THE DIAGNOSTIC READS P0463, WHICH IS A FUEL LEVEL SENSOR HIGH INPUT CIRCUIT A. SOMETIMES THE FUEL GAUGE WILL READ DIFFERENTLY AS THE TANK GETS CLOSER TO EMPTY. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK USED AND THIS WAS THE ISSUE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE SO I'M NOT SURE WHEN THIS BEGAN.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY @ 70MPH IN THE FAST LANE ON INTERSTATE 80 IN THE SAN FRANCISCO'S BAY AREA, MY TRUCK SUDDENLY TURNED OFF. I HAD TO FIGHT TO GET FROM THE FAST LANE, TO GET OVER 4 LANES TO THE SHOULDER. I HAD JUST FILLED UP MY TRUCK IN BERKELEY AT A CHEVRON, I PUT $60.00 IN. SO I KNEW I HAD FUEL. I ENDED UP HAVING MY TRUCK TOWED HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY I WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND HOOKED UP THE DIAGNOSTIC READER. IT SAID THAT I NEEDED A NEW FUEL PUMP. UPON FURTHER READ EACH I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A TYPICAL ISSUE FOR THE NISSAN FRONTIER. IT HAS BEEN SO MUCH AN ISSUE NISSAN RECALLED 2004 & 2006 MODELS BUT DID NOT INCLUDE THE 2005 MODEL EVEN THOUGH ITS THE SAME FAULTY PART! I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP SENSOR REPLACED DUE TO COST AND I AM A SINGLE MOTHER. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND IS A SEVERE HAZARD THAT SHOULD BE ENFORCED BY YOU TO GET NISSAN TO INCLUDE THE 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER FOR THIS DEATH HAZARD FUEL PUMP SENSOR ISSUE!!!
SAFETY RECALL FUEL SENSOR SENDING UNIT - OUR VEHICLE IS IN IMPECCABLE SHAPE AND GARAGED WITH 53,000 MILES - WARRANTY/RECALL ON ISSUE. NISSAN WILL NOT FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. FUEL SENSOR MALFUNCTION. ALSO HAPPENED ON OUR 2006 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND WAS COVERED. FULL TANK OF GAS READS EMPTY.
RADIATOR LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION COOLER AND DESTROYED TRANSMISSION. REBUILD OF TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR REPLACEMENT COST OF OVER 5000 VEHICLE STALLED IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION
MY TRUCKS FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER, I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A RECALL. SO I CALLED 2 DEALERS THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VIN/TRUCK IS NOT COVERED. BUT WHAT I'VE SEEN IS THAT IT IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. IT DOES IT ALL THE TIME, PARKED, ON THE STREETS OR FREEWAY WHICH I DRIVE DAILY FOR WORK. NO INJURY, CRASH OR FATALITY YET. I LOVE MY TRUCK, WORK IN A LEVEL 1 TRAUMA CENTER, I SEE MANY CAR ACCIDENT VICTIM'S WHEN IT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED, LIKE WITH ME NOW. PLEASE HELP ME I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL!! 2005 NISSAN FRONTIER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FUEL SENDING UNIT PROBLEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY NISSAN, REGARDLESS OF WHAT MONTH THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. THE CONSUMER STATED IT WAS OBVIOUS THE SAME PART WAS USED ON VEHICLES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT READ FULL. *JB
#1RECENTLY I NOTICED THAT MY FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN UNRELIABLE. IT WILL SHOW THE ACTUAL FUEL AMOUNT, THEN IT WILL SHOW THAT THERE IS NO FUEL IN THE TANK JUST A FEW MOMENTS LATER. SOMETIMES THIS ISSUE LASTS FOR A WEEK WHERE IT SHOWS THE FUEL TANK TO BE EMPTY WHILE IT IS FULL. ALSO THERE IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT ACCOMPANIES. #2 I LIVE IN ALASKA AND REQUIRE THE DEFROSTER VENT TO WORK IN THE WINTER. THIS WINTER STARTING IN DECEMBER I NOTICED THAT AIR WILL NOT BLOW OUT OF THE DEFROSTER VENT BELOW THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS SELECTIONS ON THE DIAL/CONTROLS WITHOUT RESOLVE. IT ALSO MAKES A "BUBBLING AND CLICKING SOUND" THAT TO ME SOUNDS MECHANICAL IN THE DASHBOARD, WHEN THE VENT IS TRYING TO CHANGE FROM THE FLOOR VENT, TO THE HEAD VENTS, AND THEN UP TO THE WINDSHIELD VENT. *TR

NISSAN FRONTIER 2005 TRUCK: FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT STARTED SHOWING VARIABLE FUEL LEVELS, FLUCTUATING WILDLY, THEN COMPLETELY STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THIS AFTER SOME 75,000 MILES. NO PRIOR WARNING. NO EXTREME USE CONDITIONS, JUST NORMAL EVERYDAY DRIVING ON THIS VEHICLE. DEALER REFUSED REPLACEMENT BECAUSE IT WAS OVER 75,000 MILES.
MY NISSAN FRONTIER TRUCK'S "CHECK ENGINE SOON" LIGHT APPEARED. THE WARNING WAS DTC P0463. IT CORRESPONDS WITH NISSAN'S TECHNICAL BULLETIN EL07-027B, REFERENCE NTB07-069B. NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 9/24/11 AND 72,000 MILES OR LESS. MY VEHICLE'S MILEAGE IS AT 32,500 MILES. NISSAN RECOGNIZED THAT IT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. THEY EVEN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR IT. UNFORTUNATELY, I DON'T DRIVE THIS VEHICLE MUCH. I CHECKED ON THE INTERNET. MANY OF THE PROBLEMS APPEARED AT THE 30,000 MILE MARK. MY FUEL GAUGE IS ERRATIC AND DOES NOT SHOW AN ACCURATE LEVEL OF FUEL. THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY THE DETERIORATION OF THE UNIT BASED ON USE AND NOT TIME; THEREFORE, I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD EITHER RECALL THIS PART OR EXTEND THE WARRANTY WITH EITHER THE TIME OR MILEAGE OR UNLIMITED. I AM AFRAID THAT MY FUEL WILL RUN OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH NISSAN. THEY DON'T TAKE OWNERSHIP OVER THEIR PROBLEMS. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AROUND 9 PM AT 65 MPH. THE ENGINE STOPPED I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND COME TO A SAFE STOP. I HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL ,THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED 1/8 TANK OF FUEL LEFT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I GOT FUEL AND DROVE IT HOME. HOOKED THE TRUCK TO A SCANNER CODE P0463 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT. I BELIEVE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM ON OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES. THE DEALER TOLD ME MY TRUCK WAS NOT COVERED BY THAT RECALL. PASSING OTHER VEHICLE ON I-45 TOWARDS DOWNTOWN AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH THE ENGINE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT STALLING. I WAS IN DANGER TO CRASH OTHERS WITH PROBLEMS TO GET OUR OF THE HIGH SPEED LINES. AT THAT MOMENT THE ENGINE TOTALLY STALLED ,. FINALLY I WAS ABLE TO REACH THE EXTREME RIGHT LINE AND PULL OUT WAITING FOR A COMPLETE STOP. I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE BUT NO HELP. I DID NOT BELIEVE IT BUT WANTED BE SURE THAT NO LACK OF FUEL WAS THE ORIGIN BECAUSE I ALREADY HAD THE PROBLEM WITH FUEL SENDING UNIT PROBLEM WHICH DO NOT WORK PROPERLY TO ACCURATELY SHOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS ON THE FUEL TANK. I GOT SOME EXTRA FUEL. WE RETURNED AND POURED THE 1 GALLON CAN , THEN I TRIED TO STAR THE ENGINE. IT CRANKED BUT NO STARTING. I CALLED MY INSURANCE REQUESTING TOWING SERVICE . I TRIED TWO MORE TIMES AND AFTER THAT THE ENGINE STARTED ROUGHLY AND HESITATING. AFTER 2 MINUTES AND STABILIZED I DECIDED TO CONTINUE. I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO CANCEL THE TOWING SERVICE . DECIDED TO CONTINUE ON I-45 BUT ON THE EXTREME RIGHT HAND SIDE LINE. I ARRIVED HOME WITH NO OTHER ISSUES AND AFTER PARKING ON MY DRIVEWAY, SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, THEN I TRIED TO RESTART IT BUT NOTHING . ONLY CRANKING GOOD BUT NO STARTING AT ALL. FINALLY AFTER SOME LIKE 10 SECONDS OF CRANKING, THE ENGINE HESITATED BUT STARTED. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE , THEY SCANNED IT AND GAVE ME THE CODES P043 FOR THE FAILED FUEL SENDIN UNIT ( FUEL LEVEL SENSOR ) AND THE CODE P0335 WHICH IS PROBLEM WITH THE CIRCUIT OR SIGNAL OR SENSOR CRANKSHAFT. I MADE SEARCH TO FIND IT AND TODAY, SUNDAY 29, AFTER SEVERAL HOURS, FINALLY REMOVED AND REPLACED IT. AFTER THIS THE TRUCK STARTS VERY GOOD AS USUALLY BEFORE THE STALLING EXPERIENCES. COST WAS SOME LIKE 23 DOLLAR BUT THE RISK IN WHAT I WAS AND EXPOSING OTHERS HAS NO PRICE. IS NECESSARY TO HAVE A CRASH OR FATAL RESULTS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER THIS A RECALL TO PROTECT OTHERS? *TR

I'VE ALREADY RAN OUT OF FUEL ONCE THIS WEEK, ON THE HIGHWAY. I'VE CONTACTED A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP, APPARENTLY NISSAN HAS A RECALL (OR TSB?) FOR CERTAIN NISSAN FRONTIERS- HOWEVER MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS 133,000 MILES AND IS THUS NOT ELIGIBLE. CAN YOU PLEASE ASSIST? *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
