TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR BECAME CLOGGED BY WHAT HAD DEVELOPED INTO A JELLY TYPE OF SUBSTANCE AND DESTROYED THE RADIATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND POSSIBLE REPAIRS BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF THE FAILURE DESTROYING THE TRANSMISSION AS WELL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2007 WITH 40,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS BEEN SHIMMYING ON THE HIGHWAY SINCE I HIT 60,000 MILES AND IN SPITE OF HAVING MY TIRES RE-ALIGNED AND BALANCED, IT STILL CONTINUES TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MILES AN HOUR. I JUST HIT MY 100,000 MILE MARK ON THE FIRST OF OCTOBER. ON OCTOBER 18TH, I WAS AT MY SON'S DAYCARE AND THE TRUCK STARTED IDLING STRANGELY. THE TRUCK WAS PUTTERING AND EXHAUSTING BLACK SMOKE. IT DIED IN THE PARKING LOT AND I TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO GET IT STARTED. IT TOOK ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF TRYING BUT I GOT IT RUNNING AGAIN, ONLY TO HAVE IT DIE ON ME IN TRAFFIC. ONCE AGAIN, I GOT IT STARTED AND MANAGED TO GET IT HOME WHERE IT COMPLETELY DIED. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (AFTER A LOCAL MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT AND COULDN'T GET IT STARTED) THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAD AN ENGINE IDLE AIR CONTROL SENSOR THAT WAS RECALLED BY NISSAN. I NEVER RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE BUT WAS RELIEVED THAT MY BILL WAS COVERED. LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER THE SENSOR HAD BEEN REPLACED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAD BURNED OUT. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RESEARCH ONLINE, THE FAILURE OF MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO AN OUT OF TUNE ENGINE (TOO MUCH AIR OR FUEL) WHICH WAS CAUSED BY THE SENSOR BEING DEFECTIVE. NISSAN DOESN'T SEE IT THAT WAY AND NOW I'M STUCK WITH A $3500 REPAIR BILL ON A TRUCK I STILL OWE MONEY ON AND HAVE OWNED FOR LESS THAN FOUR YEARS. *TR
MY TRUCK SUFFERS FROM 2 KNOWN PROBLEMS THAT HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED AND ARE INVOLVED IN TWO NISSAN TSBS. I HAVE THE FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT AND THE WHINING TIMING BELT TENSIONER. I AM NOT GETTING ANY HELP FROM NISSAN AND JUST GET A FLAT 'YOUR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED' STATEMENT FROM THEM. I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD FIX THESE PROBLEMS OR AT LEAST OFFER A VERY REDUCED RATE FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 10V-075. SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE WE ARE HAVING IS THE SAME AS THE ONE STATED IN THE RECALL. DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENDER FLOAT ARM, OUR FUEL GAUGE IS SHOWING THAT THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 1/4 OF A TANK WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY. WE TOOK THE NISSAN FRONTIER TO A DEALER TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED AND THAT TOLD US THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM FOR FREE (AS STATED WOULD HAPPEN IN THE RECALL NOTICE) BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD TOO MANY MILES ON IT. THEY CONFUSINGLY TRIED TO DESCRIBE THAT THE ISSUE WAS A WARRANTY EXTENSION AND NOT A RECALL. WE THEN CALL NISSAN NATIONAL CUSTOMER AFFAIRS AND THEY CONFUSED THINGS EVEN MORE. I WAS TOLD BY A SERVICE REP MANAGER THAT THERE WAS 2 SERVICE PROGRAMS FOR THE PROBLEM WE WERE HAVING. ONE WAS A "RECALL" THAT WOULD BE FIXED WITHOUT DATE OR MILEAGE LIMITS. IN THIS SITUATION, THE PROBLEM CAUSED THE FUEL GAUGE TO BE STUCK ON FULL. THE OTHER WAS A "WARRANTY EXTENSION" THAT HAD A DATE OR MILEAGE LIMITATION. IN THIS SITUATION, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD BE STUCK AT ABOUT 1/4 TANK WHEN THE TANK WAS REALLY LESS THAN THAT OR EMPTY. THIS IS COMPLETELY INACCURATE INFORMATION REGARDING WHAT IS STATED IN THIS SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN. I WAS TOLD BY THE NATIONAL SERVICE REP MANAGER THAT NISSAN WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM UNDER THIS RECALL CAMPAIGN. *TR
PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN FRONTIER 2006 MODEL. AT 85000 MILES TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING HARD AND SOONER THAN IT SHOULD. LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANS AT THE COST OF $5780 AND CHANGE. I STILL DRIVE SAID VEHICLE FOR I HAVE NO CHOICE AND TRANS IS GETTING WORSE. IF TRANS LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING COULD CAUSE SAFETY ISSUE. EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY TRANSMISSION SHOULD LAST MORE THAN 85000 MILES. NISSAN REFUSED TO HELP. *TR
TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC I LOOKED IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND THEN BACK TO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS DOING 15-20 MPH AND SAW THEY HAD STOPPED AND I WAS IN DANGER OF A COLLISION IF FAST ACTION WASN'T TAKEN. WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL IN A PANIC MANNER THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DUE THE ACCELERATOR BEING DEPRESSED AT THE SAME TIME AS THE BRAKE DUE TO THE CLOSENESS OF THE PEDAL. THIS RESULTED IN A ACCIDENT INVOLVING 3 AUTOS INCLUDING MY 2006 FRONTIER SE 4X4. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN NOTED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE BY THE CPSC. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER CREW CAB SE 4X4 NEW IN 2006. I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE LESS THAN MODERATELY AND CURRENTLY HAVE 44,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RECENTLY DISPLAYED AND I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS ADVISED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT NEEDED REPLACED AND WAS GOING TO COST ROUGHLY $600.00. I WAS UPSET WITH THE PRICE, HOWEVER, DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER CHOICE BUT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I HAVE DECIDED TO WAIT UNTIL I HAVE THE FUNDS FOR SUCH A REPAIR. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, I HAVE COME TO LEARN THROUGH VARIOUS REPAIR SITES ON-LINE AND WORD OF MOUTH FROM OTHER NISSAN OWNERS THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR NISSAN. VEHICLES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO FRONTIER, X-TERRA AND "Z". I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY A RECALL ON THIS EXPENSIVE PIECE HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED, DUE TO THE PRICE AND OBVIOUS MANUFACTURE DEFAULT IN THE QUALITY. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE SINCE 2008. I RECENTLY HAVE HAD OTHER SERVICE WORK PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE, AND IF NOT FOR A FRIEND WITH A CODE READER, WOULD HAVE PAID DEARLY FOR SERVICE REPLACEMENTS AT THE DEALERSHIP, DUE TO THE DEALERSHIP NOT ADVISING ME OF THE RECALL ON THESE ISSUES. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL NEW VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS, MANY DIFFERENT BRANDS, BUT HAVE NEVER HAD THE ISSUES THAT I AM HAVING WITH THE NISSAN BRAND BEFORE. THE FUEL GAUGE ISSUE SHOULD BE A MANUFACTURE DEFAULT AND LIKEWISE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED AT NO EXPENSE TO THE CONSUMER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THERE MAY BE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A WORN TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER GUIDE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,400 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DRIVING MY NISSIAN FRONTIER, EXPERIENCED EMMISSION LIGHTS. REPLACE ONE CATALYIC CONVERTER. JUST AFTER 80, 000 THE SECOND ONE GOES, AND I HAVE TO REPLACE IT. THEN THE TRANSMISSION STOPS SHIFTING. THE RADIATOR ROTS AND COOLANT CONTAMINATES THE TRANSMISSION, AND BOTH ARE SHOT. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, AND NISSAN IS NOT RECALLING IT, AND IF IT IS OVER 80 THOUSAND THEY DO NOT COVER IT, EVEN THOUGH IT IS A BAD DESIGN AND KNOW TO NISSAN. THEY EXTENDED THE RADIATOR COVERAGE, BUT ONLY TO 80 THOUSAND MILES. MOST FAILURES ARE JUST OVER THAT MILEAGE. *TT
FUEL GAUGE ON 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER INDICATED 1/4 TANK OF FUEL WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY. I RAN OUT OF GAS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY, VERY DANGEROUS EXIT TO SIDE OF ROAD. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FOUR DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS, WHO WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT AGAIN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
REAR AXLE SEAL FAILURE CAUSED LUBRICANT TO COAT EMERGENCY BRAKE, RESULTING IN SLIPPAGE. *TR
I RECENTLY HAD A "SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT" APPEAR AND WHEN I HAD IT DIAGNOSED AT THE DEALER I WAS TOLD IT WAS A FUEL SENSOR FAILURE THAT IS LOCATED IN THE GAS TANK.. I OF COURSE AGREED TO HAVE IT SERVICED WHICH THEY DID AND RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS RESEARCHING ANOTHER ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE WHEN I STUMBLED ACROSS A RECALL ON THIS SAME YEAR TRUCK FOR THE SAME ITEMS I JUST PAID FOR. THE RECALL BY NISSAN NTB10-031A ISSUED IN MAY 19, 2010. THIS RECALL EXTENDED INTO 2011. IT SEEMS IRONIC THAT WITHIN A FEW MONTHS PERIOD I HAD A FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE THAT REQUIRED THE SAME SERVICE AND EXACTLY THE SAME PARTS REPLACED AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. I FEEL THIS WAS JUST TOO CLOSE AND TOO MUCH OF A COINCIDENCE TO NOT FALL INTO THIS RECALL. *TR

A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILLARY TANK). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER GETTING GAS. ALSO, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WAS ON THE RECALL LIST AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STEEP HILL AND APPLIED THE BRAKES THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD NO BRAKES, I WENT OVER AN EMBANKMENT. I CONTINUED TO PUMP BREAKS AND THEY FINALLY CAME UP ENOUGH TO STOP ME IN THE FIELD. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE FUEL SENDER WAS THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AIR BAG FRONT SENSOR FAILURE AT 38000 MILES, FAILURE OF FUEL SYSTEM EVAPORATION VALVE AT 38500 MILES. FAILURE OF REAR DIFFERENTIAL SEAL AT 42,000 MILES, FAILURE OF REAR AXLE BEARING SEALS, GEAR OIL TO LEAKING ON PARKING BRAKE SHOES CAUSING SLIPPAGE AT 48,500. TRUCK HAS 49,000 AS OF 3/24/2012. *TR

THE FUEL GAUGE READING FLUCTUATED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND WAS REPAIRED THREE TIMES UNDER RECALL NUMBER 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: AUXILIARY TANK). THE REMEDY DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE LUGGAGE RACK SUDDENLY BLEW OFF THE ROOF. THE RACK WAS NOT BOLTED DOWN AND IT SLID OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

NISSAN FRONTIER (NISMO) 2006 PRESENTED A POWER TRAIN FAILURE. IT WAS REPAIR AND FAILURE AGAIN AFTER SIX MONTH OF USE. WHEN I CAME BACK TO THE TECHNICIAN HE FOUND THAT THE RADIATOR HAD BEEN BROKEN AND LEAK COOLANT TO THE POWER TRAIN. THIS IS A SECOND REPAIR AND I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO IT. THE VEHICLE HAVE 100,000 MILES. I HAD HEAR A LOT OF COMPLAIN RELATED AND WHEN NISSAN WILL BE DOING A RECALL TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE? *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL SENDER FLOAT ARM TO CONTACT AN EMBOSSMENT MOLDED INTO THE TANK SHELL CAUSING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GAUGE TO SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER TANK WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY. THE CONTACT NOTICE RECALL 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM GASOLINE:STORAGE:AUXILLARY TANK) BUT DUE TO THE VIN NUMBER THE VEHICLE DID NOT FALL INTO THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD EXTEND THE RECALL SINCE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. JO

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THE CONSUMER STATED THE LEFT FRONT CALIPER WOULD SEIZE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT PADS AND TURNED THE FRONT ROTORS. WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A TIRE ROTATION, IT WAS DISCOVERED ALL FOUR ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO CONTAMINATED BRAKE FLUID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING AN UNKNOWN SPEED WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL NOISE FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND BEGAN TO HAVE DIFFICULTY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,436 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,300.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.

THERE WAS ALSO A NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V690000 (AIR BAG: FRONTAL) WHICH INCLUDED A REPAIR FOR THE FAILURE, BUT THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
ON APPROXIMATELY 10/9/2010, MY FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY (APPROX. 39K MILES ON THE VEHICLE). WITH ABOUT 1/4 TANK FULL, I FILLED THE TANK BUT THE GAUGE DID NOT REGISTER "FULL". AFTER A DAY OR TWO, THE GAUGE REGISTERED CORRECTLY. IT HAS BEEN WORKING INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THIS TIME AND NOW THERE IS A "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT APPEARING. I OWN A 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER PICKUP. THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS DEFECTIVE AND I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE. THIS IS NOT AN INCONVENIENCE. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I COULD RUN OUT OF GAS IN TRAFFIC, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR I MAY HAVE TO REPLACE IT MYSELF SINCE I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THE DEALER DO IT. THE REPAIR IS HAZARDOUS AS IT DEALS WITH REMOVAL OF THE FUEL TANK. 1/2 OF THE VIN NUMBERS FOR THIS YEAR FRONTIER HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR REPAIR OF THIS DEFECT AND 1/2 HAVE NOT. THOSE NOT RECALLED ARE EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM AND NISSAN IS REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
