RADIATOR REPAIRED AS LEAKAGE FROM CRACK CAUSES TRANSMISSION TO GO BAD , KNOWN BY NISSAN ACCORDING TO SERVICE DEPT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION COOLER FRACTURED AND CAUSED ANTI-FREEZE TO SPILL INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE DETAILS OF THE REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,256.
WHEN DRIVING ALONG THE TRUCK LOST POWER THEN WHEN THE TRUCK WAS TURNED BACK ON THE MOTOR MADE A LOUD NOISE. NOW THE REPAIRMAN TELLS ME THE TRUCK NEEDS A NEW MOTOR. IT HAS NOT GIVEN ME ANY TROUBLE BEFORE. IT IS NOT A WORK TRUCK IT'S A PLEASURE TRUCK. I'M RETIRED. WITH THAT LOW MILEAGE YOU WOULD THINK THE MOTOR WOULD BE BETTER THAN THAT. I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME. A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, I BEGAN TO NOTICE A LOUD VIBRATING OR SHUDDERING SOUND AT SPEEDS AROUND 35-40 MPH. IT SEEMED TO HAPPEN AS I STOPPED ACCELERATING AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO UP-SHIFT FOR CRUISING. THE SOUND BEGAN TO GET LOUDER OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS BEFORE I COULD GET IT CHECKED OUT. IT NOW HAS A VERY DIFFICULT TIME SHIFTING AT THOSE SPEEDS AND WHEN IT DOES SHIFT, IT'S HARD AND MAKES A LOUD KNOCK SOUND. IT THEN BEGAN TO RUN HOT ONE DAY SO AFTER IT COOLED I CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL AND FOUND THAT IT HAD A LIGHT BROWN, MILKY LOOKING SUBSTANCE WHICH FELT OILY. I'VE RECENTLY DISCOVERED A LOT OF INFORMATION FROM PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM EXPLAINING THAT IT IS CAUSE BY THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXING AND DAMAGING EACH COMPONENT.
MAKING A NOISE WHEN TRAVELING AT 35-40 MPH ACCELERATING. NISSAN DEALERSHIP STATES IT IS THE RADIATOR LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. WARRANTY EXPIRED ON 12/2014. NISSAN DEALERSHIP STATES A CO-PAY OF $2500.00 IS WHAT WILL BE CHARGED TO FIX. *TR
2012 CLASS ACTION SUIT EXTENDS WARRANTY FOR LEAKAGE OF ANTIFREEZE INTO TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSES ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING PROPERLY AND BREAK DOWN. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON FEATURE ON NISSAN VEHICLES. THIS TRUCK WAS DRIVEN TO FLORIDA BY A COLLEGE STUDENT ON SPRING BREAK. AT 79,000 MARK TROUBLE STARTED. HE DROVE IT HOME TO VIRGINIA AND BINGO THE ODOMETER WENT OVER 80,000 MILES. AT 80,300 MILES HE TAKES IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND BECAUSE ODOMETER IS OVER 80,000 MILES THE MANUFACTURER REQUIRES $2500 OWNER CO-PAY TO REPAIR WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A PREVENTABLE REPAIR BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION TANKED. HAD HE TAKEN IT TO A DEALER IN FLORIDA AT 79,000 THE WHOLE THING WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. THEY REQUIRE WRITTEN PROOF OF MECHANICAL FAILURE. THESE VEHICLES NEED TO COME WITH A WARNING LABEL. *TR
TRUCK WOULD NOT START. TOWED TO AUTO GARAGE. TOLD RADIATOR HAS A DEFECTIVE COOLEST LINE THAT RUNS THRU TRANSMISSION. THIS CAUSED CROSS CONTAMINATION OF RADIATOR FLUID AND TRANSMISSION FLUID, CAUSING BREAKDOWN OF TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. FOUND OUT ONLINE THAT THIS HAPPENS WITH THREE TYPES OF NISSAN VEHICLES MADE BETWEEN 2005 AND 2010. NISSAN WILL ONLY COVER IF UNDER 100,000 MILES BUT I HAVE TO PAY FIRST 3000 ON A FIX AVERAGING 3800 TO 4000. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY PROBLEMS BY NISSAN. THEY KNEW THEIR WAS A PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE THAT ARE STALLING AND COVERING THIS PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD BE 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS LIABILITY. CAR COMPANY'S PAID FOR ALL TYPES OF RECALL FOR THEIR DESIGN FLAWS, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE HERE OTHER THAN THE AMOUNT NEEDED TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT. *TR
A DEFECTIVE RADIATOR INSTALLED BY MANUFACTURER, ROTTED, CAUSING A MIX OF TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLANT PERMANENTLY DAMAGING THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
VEHICLE OVERHEATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE, FOLLOWED BY AUTOMATIC SHIFT SPUTTERING BETWEEN 3 AND 4TH GEARS. TAKEN TO MECHANIC AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT OVERHEATING WAS RESULT OF RADIATOR FAILURE, WHICH CAUSED RADIATOR FLUID TO MIX WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID. REPAIR COST $3400 TO REPLACE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION. AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATING 1 MONTH AFTER TAKATA RECALL EXPIRED.
FUEL GAGE INDICATED THAT I HAD A BIT LESS THAN 1/2 TANK OF FUEL. RUN OUT OF FUEL AS THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS DISPLAYING THE WRONG AMOUNT OF FUEL SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A P0463 CODE DEFECTIVE FUEL SENDING UNIT. CALLED NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA FOR SUPPORT WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER IN ORDER FOR NISSAN TO HONOR THE WARRANTY. SPENT $106 DOLLARS THE FIRST TIME AT THE SHOP AND THEN $104 AT THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. AFTER SEVERAL CALLS TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA CUSTOMER AFFAIRS I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS NOT COVERED, THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING HOW CAN IT BE POSSIBLE THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED, IT ONLY HAS 33K MILES...THIS IS A LARGER ISSUE THAT NEEDS ATTENTION BY NHTSA AS THERE HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED ACCIDENTS FROM PEOPLE RUNNING OUT OF FUEL ON THE FREEWAY. I'VE RUN OUT OF FUEL 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS AS I DEAL WITH NISSAN TO SEE IF THEY CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT MY ISSUE.
MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. MY GAS GUAGE WILL FLUCTUATE FROM EMPTY EVEN THO IT IS FULL TO HALF FULL WHEN IT IS EMPTY I SAW A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THE 2006 AND 2008 MODELS BUT NOT FOR MY 2007. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS FOR MY TRUCK AND THERE WERE NOT. PLEASE HELP.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THE INCORRECT READING LEVELS AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
STARTED EXPERIENCING RADIATOR OVERHEATING AND ERRATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTING. MECHANIC FOUND RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FLUIDS MIXED. RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEED TO BE REPLACED +/-$4000 ESTIMATE. TIMING CHAIN GUIDES, TENSIONERS, GUIDES, SHOES AND SEALS, WITCH MADE NOISE THE WHOLE TIME I HAD THE TRUCK AND THE DEALER NEVER SAID ANYTHING UNTIL AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED AND REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,500.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE 12-17-14, SINCE THE HEATER WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND JUST FOUND OUT THE THAT RADIATOR CRACKED AND LEAKED RADIATOR FLUID INTO THE TRANSMISSION, POSSIBLY CONTAMINATING THE TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE REPLACING THE RADIATOR AND FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION A FEW TIMES TO TRY TO SALVAGE THE TRANSMISSION. THEY INFORMED ME OF A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM BUT I'M PAST THE PERMITTED MILEAGE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED IN 2012. THE SERVICE DEALER SAID THE RECALL INCLUDED A NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FOR $3800 BUT THAT THE DEDUCTIBLE WAS $3000??? THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW THAT SHOULD BE FULLY COVERED AND FIXED BY NISSAN! *TR
FUEL GAUGE FAILS TO REGISTER PROPER AMOUNT OF FUEL, TRIGGERS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (MIL) AND REPORTS TROUBLE CODE SHOWING OPEN CIRCUIT IN FUEL SENSOR SYSTEM. THIS FAILURE REQUIRES ME TO WATCH MILEAGE BY USING TRIP ODOMETER TO MONITOR WHEN TO PURCHASE FUEL. COULD ALSO CAUSE FAILURE OF EMISSIONS TEST AS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THIS WOULD BE AN UNNECESSARY FINANCIAL BURDEN TO FIX AS WELL AS HAVING A FAILURE OF THE EMISSIONS TEST BASED ON THE FUEL SENDING UNIT NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND NOT FROM EXCESSIVE EMISSIONS OR OTHER EMISSIONS CONTROL PARTS. EMISSIONS TESTS ARE $50-70 PER ATTEMPT WITH DYNO RUNS. ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR IS $5-750.00 FOR LABOR AND MATERIALS. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW 7/07 WITH 50 MILES ON IT AS IT WAS DELIVERED FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. CURRENTLY HAS 61,000 MILES. VEHICLE RUNS PERFECT OTHERWISE. WOULD LIKE NISSAN TO AT LEAST SEND THE REPLACEMENT PART (@ $250).
I FIRST BEGAN NOTICING A PROBLEM WITH MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER WHEN THE HEATER WAS HAVING TROUBLE HEATING UP THE CAB AS I WAS DRIVING. AT FIRST THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND THE HEATER WOULD WARM UP FOR A WHILE AND THEN GET COLD AGAIN. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I BEGAN TO NOTICE A VIBRATION OR SHUDDERING AT HIGHER SPEEDS AS IF I WAS HITTING A RUMBLE STRIP. I BEGAN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL NISSAN MODELS BETWEEN 2005 AND 2010. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND WHAT WAS NEEDED TO REPAIR IT. THE RADIATOR DEVELOPS A CRACK THAT LEAKS INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND STARTS TEARING UP THE INTERNALS OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF BOTH THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION. THE COST TO DO THIS REPAIR WAS ABOUT $5,100.00. THE COST WAS NOT COVERED IN THE NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THE TRUCK HAD OVER 100,000 MILES. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED THAT NISSAN DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTICE FROM NISSAN THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINEERING DEFECT IN THEIR CARS. *TR
MY HUSBAND HAS 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHEN HE DROVE A CAR GO TO WORK, SUDDENLY STOP AND AFTER THAT DIDN'T START ANY MORE. WE NEVER GOT INTO ACCIDENT BEFORE AND TAKING CARE OF TRUCK VERY GOOD. TOW COMPANY HAD TO TOW HIS TRUCK TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT'S COMPUTER PROBLEM SO COST $800, TAKES A WEEK TO FIX. AFTER A WEEK THEY CALLED US,SAID THEY FOUND ANOTHER PROBLEM SO COST $2000,TAKES ONE MORE WEEK. AFTER 2 WEEKS WE STILL DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING FROM THEM.AFTER MORE THAN 1 MONTH FINALLY WE GOT CALL FROM NISSAN AND THEY STILL CAN'T FIX YET AND THEY FOUND SOMETHING WRONG AROUND TRANSMISSION AREA..... THEY SAID SEEMS LIKE HAD A FIRE OR BURN AROUND AREA AND EFFECTED TO ALL COMPUTER SYSTEM. SO NOW WE HAVE TO CHANGE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR WHICH IS COST $7000. IT'S MEAN WE HAVE TO PAY FIRST $2000 PLUS $7000 = $9000 JUST FIX FOR THE CAR. I GUESS WE STILL HAVE A EXTENSION WARRANTY ON THE TRUCK SO THEY CAN COVER $4000 BUT STILL A LOT FOR US CAUSE WE JUST PAID OFF PAYMENT ON THIS TRUCK. OFCOURSE I WAS THINKING TO BUY NEW CAR IF WE CAN TRADE IN THIS TRUCK BUT SALES PERSON SAID THEY DON'T TAKE THIS TRUCK BECAUSE THIS TRUCK IS TRASH? SO I WENT TO ONLINE TO SEARCH ABOUT NISSAN TRANSMISSION, CAME OUT A LOT. SO MANY SIMILAR TROUBLE HAS BEEN REPORTED.AND NOW IM REALLY HOPING YOU GUYS WILL ANNOUNCE THIS TRANSMISSION IS UNDER THE RECALL! IT'S NOT COUPLE HUNDREDS COST, IT'S MORE THAN COUPLE THOUSANDS COST FOR!! IT'S NOT CHEAP. DEALERSHIP IS JUST ADDING ALL COST THAT THEY DOING. I HAD JUST FILLED MY TANK WITH FUEL. I PULLED OF THE LOT OF THE STATION INTO TRAFFIC, NOTICE MY FUEL GAUGE DIDN'T NEVER REGISTER THE FUEL JUST ADDED. MOMENTS LATER THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ALSO. I CIRCLE BACK TO THE STATION WHERE THE FUEL WAS PURCHASE AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SPUTTER. I RETURN TO THE STATION AND PROCEEDED TO THE CLERK THAT SOLD ME THE FUEL AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPEN. I WAS THINKING IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL. CLERK STATED SHE WOULD RECORD MY CLAIM/ I LEFT THE STATION AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE HOME WHERE I ARRIVE SAFELY. *TR
MY TRUCK WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE DUE TO A WHINING FROM THE ENGINE.IF TIMING CHAIN FAILS THE ENGINE WILL LOSE POWER PUTTING PEOPLE AT RISK. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE SINCE TSB # 07-042 ISSUED JULY 17 2007. I PURCHASED IN OCT 2007 HAD I HAD THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO ME I WOULD HAVE MADE A DIFFERENT DECISION. IN APRIL 17 2009 ANOTHER TSB WAS ISSUED #07-042A, ON DECEMBER 14 2009 ANOTHER TSB #07-042C.SOMETIME BETWEEN 2006-2007 THE PRIMARY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER WAS REDESIGNED. SO NISSAN WAS WELL AWARE THERE WAS AN ISSUE.THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT NEVER MENTIONED THIS ISSUE UNTIL I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY LEAVING ME ON THE HOOK FOR REPAIRS. THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE MOTOR .PLEASE OPEN AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS MATTER. NISSAN DID NOT DO ANYTHING FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS ABOUT THE RADIATOR TRANSMISSION CROSS CONTAMINATION UNTIL A CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS BROUGHT AGAINST THEM AND THEY LOST.THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT IN PROCESS IN CALIFORNIA FOR THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE.ANY ONE WHO HAS WHINING BUZZING IN THE ENGINE IN THEIR NISSAN FROM 2004-2007 WITH THE V-6 Q40 SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT AS WELL. *TR

VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS WHEN THE GAS HAND WAS READING AT A QUARTER OF A TANK. IT HAPPENED AS I ENTERED TRAFFIC. *TR
THE D FOR DRIVE WOULD NO LONGER SHOW -TO TOOK IT TRANSMISSION PLACE AND THEY DETECTED COOLANT LEAK INTO TRANSMISSION. FOUND OUT NISSAN HAD LOST A CLASS ACTION SUIT OVER THIS AND REALIZED MY TRUCK IS OVER LIMIT FOR MILAGE THIS IS SECOND MAJOR REPAIR FOR THIS VEHICLE HAD A TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED AND WAS PARTIALLY REIMBURSED AFTER A BIG FIGHT WITH DEALER AND NISSAN. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN AFTER THIS I HOPE YOU HANG THEM OUT TO DRY OVER THIS. *TR
MY GAS GAUGE DROPPED TO 1/4 THEN WENT TO EMPTY WITH LIGHT ON NOW IT WON'T MOVE AT ALL
I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE FUEL GAUGE PROBLEMS WITH MY 2007 NISSAN FRONTIER THAT I NOW SEE SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT. IT HAS BEEN CLOSE TO A YEAR THAT I HAVE HAD THE ISSUE BUT I KNEW IT WAS THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR SENSOR CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME SO I DIDN'T GET IT FIXED. I WOULD FILL UP WITH GAS AND THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD STAY AT EMPTY (NO MATTER HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE TANK WHEN I STARTED FUELING). THEN AFTER DRIVING UP TO 100 MILES THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD GO UP TO WHAT I ASSUME WAS AN ACCURATE READING. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT A MONTH NOW THE FUEL GAUGE HAS COMPLETELY QUIT WORKING. I WOULD FILL UP AT BETWEEN 250 MILES TO 300 MILES ON A TANK BECAUSE I KNEW I ALWAYS GOT OVER 300 MILES ON A TANK OF GAS. WELL, THIS MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK I RAN OUT A GAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. I AM VERY DISGUSTED TO SEE ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND NISSAN IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ON TOP OF THAT, I THOUGHT A SMALLER PICKUP WITH A 6 CYLINDER ENGINE WOULD GET BETTER GAS MILEAGE THAN IS DOES. MY 2007 FRONTIER GETS LOUSY GAS MILEAGE. *TR

FUEL LEVEL SENSOR MALFUNCTION, TRUCK SHUT OFF WHILE SHOWING IT WAS HALF FULL OF GAS. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING SO I HAD A TRUCK LOAD OF FURNITURE AND ALSO PULLING MY BOAT. I LUCKILY CARRY A HEAVY DUTY CHAIN WITH ME AND WAS ABLE TO GET SOMEONE TO TOW ME TO A GAS STATION. I THEN READ THAT NISSAN HAD RECALLED 2005-2008 MODELS BUT WHEN I CALLED MY PARTICULAR TRUCK WASN'T ONE OF THEM. IT DOESN'T REALLY MAKE SENSE TO ME IF MY TRUCK IS SHOWING THE SAME PROBLEMS WHY IT ISN'T RECALLED. THIS DIDN'T CAUSE THAT BIG OF AN ISSUE FOR ME BUT I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND COULD PUT SOMEONE IN DANGER OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT. THE SEAL AROUND WHERE THE SENSOR CONNECTS DOESN'T HOLD SO GAS GETS IN AND CORRODES THE CONNECTING PINS CAUSING IT TO MALFUNCTION. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $400 TO FIX IT SO I BOUGHT THE PART ONLINE FOR $85 AND FIXED IT MYSELF. I DON'T FEEL LIKE THIS IS RIGHT AND NISSAN NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *TR
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 8/16/2014 AND I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO WORK AND TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT OUT OF GEAR ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I SCANNED THE VEHICLE AND PULLED A CODE FOR THE TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SENSOR. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAID THEY FOUND COOLANT IN MY TRANSMISSION AND I WAS OUTSIDE OF THE PREVIOUS EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. AND NISSAN WOULDN'T COVER ANY OF THE DAMAGES DUE TO IT BEING OUT OF THE LAST EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. NOW THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $6,756 TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE I'VE OWED FOR LESS THAN A WEEK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET FUEL GAUGE READING OVER 1/4 TANK WENT TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE VEHICLE STARTED TO CUT OUT SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN THE VEHICLE WENT COMPLETELY DEAD MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER OR BRAKE OR PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OUT OF TRAFFIC. HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED AND WAS ADVISED AFTER HE READ THE CODE THAT THE FUEL SENSOR WAS FAULTY GIVING A FALSE READING ON THE AMOUNT OF FUEL REMAINING IN THE TANK AND THAT HE HAD HEARD OF A NISSAN RECALL ON THE FUEL SENSOR. AFTER I PUT MORE FUEL IN MY VEHICLE IT STARTED RIGHT UP BUT SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. CONTACTED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WAS ADVISED THAT SOME 2007 NISSAN FRONTIERS AND OTHER MODEL OF THAT YEAR HAD SIMILAR ISSUES BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED FOR THAT PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND NOTICED THAT WHEN I SLOWED DOWN OR STOPPED, THEN TRIED TO GO AGAIN THE CAR HESITATED, THEN TOOK OFF FAST ALL AT ONCE. AT TIMES EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS FLOORED THE CAR WOULDN'T GO, THEN WOULD TAKE OFF. I TRIED CHANGING GAS, AN ADDITIVE, NOTHING HELPED. I HAD A NEIGHBOR DRIVE THE CAR AND HE SAID GET IT IN BEFORE YOU KILL SOMEONE. I CALLED A COUPLE OF SHOPS, BUT EVENTUALLY WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THEY DIAGNOSED A MAJOR ENGINE PROBLEM THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WAS RULED AGAINST NISSAN. THEY SAID I NEEDED A 5000 DOLLAR REPAIR, BUT THEY WOULD ONLY CHARGE ME 2500 BECAUSE OF THE LAWSUIT. IT SEEMS THEY ONLY COVER FULL PRICE UP TO 80000 MILES. I WAS 600 MILES PAST THERE REPAIR LINE. I EXPLAINED THAT I HAD TRIED MANY THINGS, AND THE PROBLEM WAS GOING ON LONG BEFORE THE 80000 MILE MARK. I OFFERED PROOF BY CALLING THE SHOPS AND TRYING TO PUT THEM ON THE PHONE WITH NISSAN, THEY WOULD NOT TAKE THE PHONE. I CALLED THE NEIGHBOR TO TALK TO THEM AS PROOF THAT HE DROVE THE TRUCK MORE THAN A MONTH EARLIER AND THE PROBLEMS WERE SEVERE. THEY WOULD NOT TAKE THE PHONE. THEY EVENTUALLY GAVE ME THE NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS NUMBER, AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND HAVE NOT RETURNED A CALL SINCE.WHENEVER I CALL THEY SAY SOMEONE WILL RETURN YOUR CALL BY THE END OF THE DAY, OF COURSE NOBODY DOES. MEANWHILE, THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE, AND I AM GETTING SCARED TO EVEN DRIVE THE TRUCK ANYMORE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BACK ROAD. WHILE TRAVELING UP A SLIGHT HILL THE TRUCK SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THE ENGINE WOULD REV BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE TRUCK. WHEN I RESTARTED AND PUT IT IN DRIVE I STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. I ENDED UP GETTING TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. IF THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION I COULD UNDERSTAND THAT AT 155K MILES IT COULD FAIL, HOWEVER THIS TRUCK HAS NOW GONE THROUGH THE FACTORY TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS A FACTORY REFURBISHED TRANSMISSION ALL WITHIN 7 YEARS. I READ ONLINE ABOUT MANY FRONTIER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS I HAVE. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO MY MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE RADIATOR FAILS WHICH CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. I FEEL LUCKY THAT I WAS ON A BACK ROAD BECAUSE THE FAILURE HAPPENED QUICKLY, HAD I BEEN ON A HIGHWAY WITH MODERATE TRAFFIC I COULD EASILY BEEN STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. *JS
