TRANSMISSION COMPLETALLY CONTAMINATED WITH COOLANT AND CAR DID NOT MOVE ANYMORE. START SLPPING IN OVERDRIVE. ONES I STARTED AND IT HAS A WEIRD SOUND AND WENT HOME BUT IN THE WAY THE CAR STOPS COMPLETALLY.
RADIATOR COOLANT LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION. RESULTING IN A FAILED TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS STARTED SLIPPING GEARS. ONLY 52000 MILES ON TRUCK.
TRANSMISSION COOLER IN RADIATOR LEAKED CAUSING ENGINE COOLANT TO MIX WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID CAUSING TRANSMISSION TO BREAK DOWN
RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO CROSS CONTAMINATION OF RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FLUID CAUSED BY CRACKED ATF LINE RUNNING THROUGH ENGINE COOLANT CHAMBER IN RADIATOR.
AFTER THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON ON MY FRONTIER, I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC. MECHANIC STATES THAT I HAVE A FAULTY COOLANT. ITS A KNOWN ISSUE BY NISSAN FRONTIERS. BASICLY THE COOLANT WILL LEAK INTO MY RADIATOR WHICH THEN WILL MESS UP THE TRANSMISSION. THIS WILL COST ME ABOUT $4000.00.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART MINUTES LATER. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT AND THE FLIP ERROR LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT ON, VEHICLE 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH 82000 MILES.
THE WELL KNOWN ISSUE OF RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION WHICH DESTROYS THE TRANSMISSION RENDERING IT USELESS. MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. MY TRUCK IS DEAD AND THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED, A CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS FILED, NISSAN SHOULD BE LIABLE TO REPAIR THESE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS. MY PROBLEM BEGAN AT LOW MILES, I'VE SPENT $2000 AT NISSAN TO REPLACE THE FAULTY RADIATOR AND FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION 2X TO TRY AND SAVE IT. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 167,514.
1) $1473 TO REPLACE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEM @ 53,610 MILES 2) NISSAN HAD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN NTB09-128 REVEALING A KNOWLEDGE OF THE ISSUE ON AT LEAST 3 MODELS OVER A 5 YEAR PERIOD OF TIME 3) CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO CHECK ON REIMBURSEMENT SINCE NISSAN KNEW IT WAS A PROBLEM. IN FAIRNESS, THEY RESPONDED WITHIN 24 HRS. ONLY TO TAKE LESS THAN 1 MINUTE TO DENY THE CLAIM 4) WROTE 3 LETTERS (1 PER MONTH) TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS UNTIL THEY CONTACTED ME AGAIN TODAY 1/13/2016 ONLY TO DENY THE CLAIM ONCE AGAIN. I'VE OWNED ONLY NISSAN TRUCKS SINCE 1984 AND BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR PRODUCTS AND QUALITY. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW IN 2008 AND ONLY HAD 53,610 MILES WHEN THIS ISSUE CAME UP. I'M THANKFUL I HEARD THE NOISE AND HAD IT FIXED BEFORE THE CHAIN(S) SEIZED AND CAUSED MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE OR EVEN A WRECK. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT I HAD AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM (BAD LUCK) IF IT HADN'T BEEN DOCUMENTED VIA THE SERVICE BULLETIN. NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE VIA THE SERVICE BULLETIN THAT COVERED AT LEAST 3 MODELS OVER A 5 YEAR TIME SPAN. THEY NOW REFUSE TO ACCEPT ANY TYPE OF RESPONSIBILITY. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS SEVERAL CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS CONCERNING THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. I'M VERY UNHAPPY WITH NISSAN'S LACK OF PRODUCT SUPPORT ON WHAT WAS WAS CLEARLY A QUALITY ASSURANCE PROBLEM. I WILL MOST LIKELY NOT BUY (NOR RECOMMEND) A NISSAN PRODUCT ANYTIME IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.
RADIATOR FAILED LEAKING ANTIFREEZE INTO TRANSMISSION THUS CAUSING TRANSMISSION TO SLIP WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FILL THE TANK WITH GASOLINE AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS, THE LIQUID CAN NOT BE PROPERLY DISPENSED INTO THE TANK BECAUSE OF A BLOCKAGE. THE LIQUID IMMEDIATELY SPEWS OUT OF THE GAS TANK AND ONTO THE PERSON FILLING THE VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN RURAL HIGHWAY (TWO LANES IN EACH DIRECTION) IN THE RIGHT LANE, TRUCK SUDDENLY BEGAN TO BUCK AND SLOWED DRAMATICALLY. WITH A LOADED BED IN THE TRUCK, IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT THERE WEREN'T TOO MANY PEOPLE ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. LIMPED VEHICLE HOME ON SECONDARY ROADWAYS.
THIS IS INFORMATION ON THE FRONT SEAT BAG THAT IS CAUSING PROBLEMS. THE SEAT BAG LIGHT IS COMING ON. 19239355 ( CASE NUMBER).
TIMING CHAIN GUIDES AND TENSIONERS NEED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO THE TIMING CHAINS [3]. IF THESE FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY, A SEVERE ACCIDENT COULD RESULT. NISSAN HAS PUBLISHED BULLETINS ON THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT NOTIFIED OWNERS ABOUT IT. THERE ARE EVIDENTLY CLASS ACTION SUITS FILED AGAINST THEM. THESE PART ARE DEFECTIVE IN DESIGN AND QUALITY AND POSE A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION.
NISSAN HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN 2005-10 FRONTIER, PATHFINDER, AND XTERRA VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS HAVE AN INTERNAL CRACK ON THE OIL COOLER TUBE MAY OCCUR LEADING TO INTERNAL LEAKAGE OF ENGINE COOLANT. THIS DEFECT HAS DESTROYED MY TRANSMISSION AND MANY OTHER CONSUMERS' TRANSMISSIONS, AS EVIDENCED BY THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS WHICH HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST NISSAN. NISSAN OFFERED CUSTOMERS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE RADIATORS FOR VEHICLES WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES, BUT NEVER ADDRESSED THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES, WHICH RANGE FROM $4000-6000 TO REBUILD. I REALIZED I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN ON HWY 98 IN FLORIDA, WHERE ONCOMING TRAFFIC IS TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF GREATER THAN 60 MILES AN HOUR. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE I WAS MAKING THE TURN AND WAS NEARLY T-BONED BY TWO ONCOMING VEHICLES. IT IS INCONCEIVABLE THAT NISSAN HAS NOT RECALLED THESE VEHICLES. NISSAN IS PUTTING CONSUMERS LIVES IN DANGER AND COSTING HARD-WORKING AMERICANS SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF MONEY BY NOT RECALLING THESE VEHICLES.
HEARD A HIGH PITCHED WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE OF MY NISSAN 2008 CREW CAB 4 WHEEL DRIVE FRONTIER. MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE ISSUE EVALUATED AT THE SAME NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (NISSAN OF ATLANTIC CITY - FORMERLY ADMIRAL NISSAN). I PURCHASED THE USED FRONTIER IN JUNE 2011; APPROXIMATE MILEAGE WAS 40 - 41K. I ALSO PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AT THAT TIME - 48 MONTHS, 48 THOUSAND MILES (EXPIRATION 6/15/15). AFTER EVALUATING THE PROBLEM, A NISSAN SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE TIMING CHAIN AND ITS COMPONENTS - COST OF REPAIR $1900.00 - 2000.00 PLUS 7% SALES TAX. I ASKED HIM IF THE REPAIR WAS COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED. HE SAID NO! HE INFORMED ME THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED FOR MILEAGE; I WAS OVER BY A FEW HUNDRED MILES. THIS IS AN EXISTING PROBLEM. NISSAN HAD KNOW OF, AND BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE WELL BEFORE I PURCHASED MY 2008 FRONTIER IN JUNE 2011. HOWEVER, THIS INFORMATION WAS NEVER MADE AVAILABLE DIRECTLY TO THE CONSUMER. WHEN THE ENGINE WHINE FIRST BEGAN IT WAS LOW - BARELY NOTICEABLE, BUT THE MORE I DROVE THE WORSE IT GOT. IF I HAD BEEN AWARE OF THE SERVICE BULLETINS SENT TO THE DEALERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I WOULD HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED; THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD A $50.00 DEDUCTIBLE. MY FINAL COST FOR THE REPAIR ON 3/28/15 WAS $1974.16. NISSAN OF AMERICA IS AT FAULT AND SO IS THE DEALERSHIP - NISSAN OF ATLANTIC CITY. THEY ARE BOTH RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE THEY BOTH HAD THE INFORMATION ABOUT EXISTING TIMING CHAIN PROBLEMS AND FAILED TO DISCLOSE IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT BOTH THE SEAT BELT AND THE AIR BAG SEAT CUSHION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TRANS SLIPS ON AND OFF (SPECIALLY WITH O/D ON), WHEN PULLING WITHOUT O/D IS LESS NOTICEABLE, RE ENGAGING OF SPEED BECOMING MORE AND MORE AND ABRUPT AND STEPPED, DANGEROUS AND ANNOYING.
TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACING. *TR
WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND BEING DRIVEN DOWN A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY AND MAKING A TURN THE TRANSMISSION GOES FROM IN FORWARD MOTION (DRIVE) TO NEUTRAL (NO MOTION, BUT ACCELERATION OF ENGINE CONTINUES) FOR A PERIOD OF 5-8 SECONDS, AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES INTO FORWARD MOTION (DRIVE) WITH A LARGE JERKKING MOTION OR THUD. THIS HAPPENS AT STOP LIGHTS, AND WHILE IN MOTION CROSSING HIGHWAYS, CITY STREETS, AND WHEN IN MOTION MAKING TURNS ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS, OR FROM STOPLIGHTS. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN, HAVE NOT FOUND A MECHANIC WHO CAN DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE, HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED WITH NO IMPROVEMENT IN THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AT LEAST THREE TO FIVE TIMES PER WEEK.
I HAVE A 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER WITH ONLY 48,000 MILES ON IT. I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE STARTED TO WHINE AND TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. COME TO FIND OUT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND IT WILL COST $1,500 TO REPAIR. I TOOK A LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE STATING THAT THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE PRESSURED TO SEND OUT A RECALL TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS ON THESE ENGINES. *TR
UPON PENNSYLVANIA STATE REQUIRED INSPECTION THE INSPECTOR RECOGNIZED THAT THE REAR SEALS OF THE AXLE WERE "LEAKING" FLUID AND THAT THE FLUID HAD SATURATED THE ENTIRE BRAKING ASSEMBLY INCLUDING THE CALIPER, PADS, ROTOR AND EMERGENCY BRAKE SHOES CAUSING THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE TO BE A HAZARD TO THE OPERATOR. WHEN ASKED WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE INSPECTOR SAID THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN THIS WAY FOR SOME TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF AXLE GREASE COVERING THE BRAKING MECHANISMS. FOR A DRIVER OF SAID VEHICLE THERE WOULD BE ZERO INDICATIONS OF FAILURE OF THE SEALS DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES CAUSING THE OIL TO GEL AND/OR BURN AWAY WHICH WOULD LEAVE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKAGE ON THE GROUND. I FEEL THAT THIS CAUSES AN IMMEDIATE DANGER TO THE DRIVER AND THEIR OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE OVER ALL POOR DESIGN OF THE AXLE SHAFTS BY NISSAN ENGINEERING HAS ALLOWED THIS SITUATION TO OCCUR. A TSB CURRENTLY EXISTS FOR THIS ISSUE AND NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
MY HORN STOPPED WORKING BACK IN DEC. 2014. THEN COME TO FIND OUT IF I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT IT WILL WORK. IF YOU PUSH ON THE RIGHT OF THE WHEEL. SO I FINALLY PUT IT IN THE SHOP ON 02-17-2015. THEN TODAY I WAS TOLD ON 02-20-2015 IT IS ELECTRICAL. IT HAS TWO PARTS TO THE HORN. PLUS GETTING NO ELECTRICAL TO THE AIRBAGS. I WAS TOLD IF I HAD GOTTEN IN A WRECK THEY WOULD NOT DEPLOY. SO THAT REALLY MADE ME MAD. I HAD TO FINALLY BREAK DOWN AND GET A RENTAL CAR BECAUSE IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP. PLUS I HAVE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER PEOPLE ON THIS ABOUT THERE HORNS AND AIRBAGS. DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NO RECALLS ON THESE ITEMS. *TR
HORN ONLY WORKS WHEN YOU TURN STEERING TO THE RIGHT. *JS
HAVING THE SAME ISSUE THAT OTHER FRONTIERS WERE RECALLED FOR. GAS GAUGE IS UNRELIABLE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. OTHER FRONTIERS MANUFACTURED JUST THREE MONTHS BEFORE OURS ARE ON RECALL BUT NOT OURS. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A NISSAN ISSUE AS WELL DOCUMENTED ON VARIOUS BOARDS AND WEBSITES.
THE SPARE TIRE ON THE VEHICLE IS HELD IN PLACE BY A CHAIN UNDER THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. ITS HOISTED INTO PLACE FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN CHECKING THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE SPARE TIRE, I FOUND THE SPARE TIRE RIM BADLY RUSTED. I'M AFRAID THAT THE RIM'S HOLES WILL ULTIMATELY BECOME SO LARGE SO AS NOT TO HOLD THE LUG NUTS. IF THE SPARE WITH RUSTED LUG NUT HOLES THAT WERE TOO LARGE, WAS INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE, THE SPARE COULD POSSIBLY COME OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. FURTHERMORE, THE ANCHOR POINT ON THE SPARE TIRE HOIST IS ALSO RUSTING BADLY. IT MAY FAIL TO SUPPORT THE SPARE TIRE WHICH COULD THEN DROP FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IF THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING WHEN IT FELL, IT COULD BOUNCE AND STRIKE THE GAS TANK, POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *JS
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AS I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON. WITH IN AN HOUR, AND ALMOST ARRIVING HOME... THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 25MPH. I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND FELT A VERY LARGE BANG UNDER THE TRUCK. AS I TRIED TO ACCELERATE FROM THE LIGHT I COULD ONLY GET UP TO 25MPH. THEN THE TRUCK STALLED COMPLETELY, IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS CLOSE BEHIND ME AND I HAD MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON, OTHERWISE THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A SURE CRASH. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO CHECKED AND INFORMED ME THAT MY RADIATOR WAS FAULTY AND HAD CONTAMINATED AND RUINED MY TRANSMISSION. I PAID $2900 TO HAVE IT FIXED. NO HELP, OR MONEY BACK FROM NISSAN, NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY FOR THEIR FAULTY PARTS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE FUEL GAUGE LEVER DECREASED AND THE LOW FUEL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, DESPITE THE CONTACT HAVING JUST FILLED UP THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SMOKE WAS EMITTING FROM THE TIRES AND IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE HAD TO BE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE COMPUTER DID NOT RECORD FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
ONE DAY, ALL OF THE SUDDEN, THE FLASHING RED AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED FLASHING ON THE DASH. I NOTICED THERE IS MAJOR SAFETY RECALL ON MY VEHICLE MODEL AND YEAR FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, I'VE CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW, BILL RAPP NISSAN, SYRACUSE, NY AND ANOTHER LOCAL DEALER , BURDICK NISSAN, NORTH SYRACUSE, NY AND THEY BOTH INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT ON THEIR VEHICLE RECALL LIST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR ON THE FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT NO REMEDY WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,555.
I JUST HAD TO HAVE THE RADIATOR REPLACED AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REBUILT AT A COST OF ALMOST $3,000 IN MY 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER SE 4V 2.5 WITH ONLY 84,000 MILES BECAUSE OF THE CROSS CONTAMINATION. ACCORDING TO CARCOMPLAINT.COM, THE AVERAGE OWNER IS BECOMING AWARE OF A PROBLEM AT 94,565 MILES. IF NISSAN WOULD HAVE RECALLED THE RADIATORS IMMEDIATELY UPON KNOWLEDGE OF THE DEFECT, IT WOULD HAVE SAVED THEM FROM DEALING WITH NUMEROUS TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENTS AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CONCERNS. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CAUSED BY CONTAMINATION AND I SHOULD GET HELP FROM NISSAN WHO LATER ON DENIED HELP FOR ME. THE NEXT DAY I BROUGHT MY NISSAN FRONTIER TO A SHOP EXPERT IN TRANSMISSIONS AND THEIR DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE FAILURE IN MY TRANSMISSION WAS CAUSED BY AN "ANTI-FREEZE CONTAMINATION, CODE 1751". NISSAN KNEW THAT THEY HAD A FAULTY RADIATOR AND INSTEAD OF RECALLING THE RADIATOR, THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY KNOWING THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE CARS WOULD SURPASS 80,000 MILES BEFORE THEY STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. NOW LOOKING AT HIGH COST TO FIX THE TIMING CHAIN COVER SEAL. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT BOTH OF THESE ISSUES AND IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY AND WON'T HELP. *TR
RECENTLY I NOTED THAT MY NOKIAN TIRES WERE COMING APART. I WENT TO WHERE I BOUGHT THEM, AND NOKIAN OFFERED NO APOLOGY AND A $200 DISCOUNT ON A NEW SET OF $800 TIRES. THEY SOLD DEFECTIVE TIRES, AND YET THEY EXPECT ME TO SHELL OUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION. THAT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE. I DIDN'T SPEND ALMOST $1K ON TIRES TO HAVE TO SPEND ANOTHER $700 IN UNDER 30K MILES. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 68 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO AVOID A CRASH WHEN SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A BARRIER, AND TWO ADDITIONAL VEHICLES. NOTICED OIL / GREASE ON REAR TIRES SIDEWALL. TAKEN TO NISSAN DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC FOUND A FAILURE OF BOTH REAR AXLE SEALS CAUSING FLUID TO COVER REAR AXLE, DIFFERENTIAL, REAR BRAKES, AND TIRES. I WAS ADVISED TO NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK DUE TO POSSIBLE AXLE AND WHEEL SEPARATION FROM THE REAR END. IF I HAD NOT FOUND THIS I COULD EASILY BE DEAD DUE TO WHEEL AXLE SEPARATION FROM THE VEHICLE IN MOTION. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. AFTER REPAIR WAS PERFORMED THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE REAR AXLE HOUSING VENT TUBE CLOGGED CAUSING PRESSURE TO BUILD UP BLOWING OUT THE REAR SEALS. NISSAN CORP. USA WAS NOTIFIED BUT DECLINED TO ASSIST CUSTOMER WITH EXTENSIVE REPAIRS STATING THAT ALTHOUGH BEING UNDER THE 60,000 MILE POWER TRAIN LIMIT THE VEHICLE WAS 5 MONTHS OVER THE 5 YEAR AGE LIMIT. ON THE ABOVE DATE I FIRST NOTICED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING THE TRUCK WOULD NOT THROW ANY HEAT. ON APRIL 26, 2014 THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF OVERDRIVE. I SHUT THE VEHICLE DOWN, RESTARTED AND PUSH THE BUTTON TO TAKE OUT OVERDRIVE AND VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN IN FOURTH. ON MAY 8, 2014 WHILE DRIVING THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" CAME ON AS WELL AS THE 4 WHEEL LO RANGE LIGHT CAME ON AND I DROVE IT 2 MILES TO MY HOME, SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN AND IT NEVER RESTARTED AGAIN. *TR
The contact owned a 2008 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the driver's side air bag suddenly deployed without an impact. As a result, the contact swerved into a drainage ditch, and the vehicle flipped completely over on its top. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact was transported by airlift to an area hospital and treated for several injuries, including a broken clavicle, a dislocated shoulder, three broken ribs, a fractured T10, and a shattered hip. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss by insurance. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23E012000 (Air Bags), and the VIN was included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.
ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A WHINING NOISE THAT I HAD NEVER HEARD IN MY 2008 NISSAN FRONTIER 4.0 TRUCK. THE NOISE IS NEW AND OVER THE LAST WEEK OR SO, IT COMES AND GOES. VEHICLE WENT OUT OF WARRANTY 2.5 MONTHS AGO AT 5 YRS 2.5 MONTHS OLD. 54500 MILES ON THE TRUCK. THE WHINE PITCH INCREASES WITH ENGINE SPEED. IN NEUTRAL AS YOU REV THE ENGINE YOU HEAR THE WHINE NOISE GO UP AND DOWN WITH THE RPMS. NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT IN MODEL YEARS 2004-08 WAS FAULTY, CAUSING THE UNIT TO SEND FAULTY INFORMATION ON FUEL LEVELS AND CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. THEY OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM, BUT WHEN I CONTACTED THEM, THEY SAID MY VIN# WASN'T COVERED - EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE YEAR MODEL AFFECTED WITH THE PROBLEM. NO SUCH RESTRICTION ON VIN# S IS PRESENTED ON THEIR WEBSITES. IT IS ONLY AFTER I TRIED TO GET THE PROBLEM REPAIRED THAT THEY DENIED COVERING IT, EVEN THOUGH IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT. I APPEALED ALL THE WAY TO CORPORATE AND GOT NOWHERE. I BELIEVE THEY ARE SIMPLY TRYING TO DODGE PAYING FOR A REPAIR THAT IS THEIR OWN MANUFACTURING FAULT. *TR

A WHINING OR BUZZING TYPE NOISE HAS DEVELOP FROM THE TIMING CHAIN AREA CAUSED BY EXCESS SLACK IN THE SECONDARY TIMING CHAINS. NISSAN HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN (NTB09-128) REGARDING THIS ISSUE. REPLACEMENT OF BOTH SECONDARY TIMING CHAINS AND THEIR TENSIONER SHOES WILL BE NECESSARY TO REPAIR THIS CONCERN. MY 2008 FRONTIER HAS 89K MILES ON IT (OUT OF NISSAN'S 60K WARRANTY) AND HAS BEEN WHINING FOR SOMETIME NOW. NISSAN KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM PER THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED TSP. IT IS MY WORRY THAT IF THE CHAIN BREAKS OR FAILS WHILE DRIVING IT THE MOTOR WILL INSTANTLY STOP/FAIL AND POSSIBLY LOCK UP THEREFORE PUTTING MYSELF AND FAMILY AND OR OTHERS AT GREAT RISK FOR INJURY. *TR

IT WENT OVER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD STILL LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED THAT IT MAY NEED A THROTTLE ADJUSTMENT. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE MECHANIC HE SAID THE THROTTLE WAS WITHIN RANGE AND IT WAS REPORTED TO HIM THAT ALL FRONTIERS AND PATHFINDERS HAVE THAT PROBLEM.
