On June 6th. 2019 my 2005 nissan maxima struck a disabled vehicle left in the middle lane of the Long Island Expressway (a 3 laned highway). Although I was traveling at 60 mph when the collision occurred and struck the disabled vehicle from the rear, the passenger airbag never deployed. This resulted in the passenger receiving significantly more serious injuries than that of the driver (who's airbag did deploy).

I AM A FORENSIC CONSULTANT THAT HAS EXAMINED THE SUBJECT VEHICLE WHICH WAS INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS FRONTAL COLLISION WITH AN APPROXIMATE 32 MPH LONGITUDINAL DELTA V. THE DRIVER WAS PROPERLY SAFETY BELTED BUT THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT AFFECTING PUBLIC SAFETY. *TT *BF *JB
"TAMARA INFLATORS" SEAT BELTS DIDN'T LOCK OR LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. SMASHED BODY ALL THE WAY TO BACK SEAT BOTTOM TO GROUND. ENGINE WAS IDLING VERY HIGH FELT/SOUND AS IF WE WERE GOING 60 BUT ONLY WAS GOING 40. NO AIR BAGS CAME ON. BRAKES GRINDING. BACK WINDOW BLEW OUT AND TIRES FLAT IN BACK.. WINDOWS SLOW ON DRIVERS SIDE. WHEN THE SHERIFF TAHOE HIT US AT 80MPH ON U.S. 40 GREENFIELD IN WAS IN THE SHOP AT J&M TRUCK AN TRAILER ON THE WEST SIDE OF INDIANAPOLIS HAVING THE OIL LEAKED FIXED AND TIRES ALL FIXED AND ROTORS AND LIGHTS BY [XXX] A COUPLE MONTHS PRIOR. I HAD MY LITTLE GIRL IN THE BACK SEAT AS WELL WHERE SHERIFF HIT AND RAN. I UPLOADED A BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURE. I HAVE A RECALL NOTICE FROM NISSAN BUT MY AUTO DEALER LEFT OUR AREA. NISSAN TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER TOWN THAT IS AT LEAST 70 MILES AWAY. I CANNOT GET IT THERE. THEY WILL NOT PAY ANOTHER NON-NISSAN LOCAL DEALER TO DO THE WORK. WHAT CAN I DO?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE AND WENT AIRBORNE AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH, DESTROYING THE VEHICLE. DURING THE CRASH ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT STATED NONE OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND SHOULDER. THE CONTACT STATED IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED THE HEAD INJURY COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.

WHEN THE MECHANIC ARRIVED THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE SEAT BELT MECHANISM MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE BURNING SMELL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE REPAIR COST WOULD BE $5,000. THE CONTACT STATED THE SEAT BELT FAILURE WAS RECALL CAMPAIGN ID 05V512000. THE SEAT BELT WAS REPAIRED IN 2006. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILES WERE 62000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS REAR-ENDED SO HARD IT CATAPULTED ME INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT, MY AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. MY FACE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL, I HAVE A BULGE AND BRUISING ABOVE MY RIGHT EYE AND RIGHT CHEEK. *TR

THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR DISPLAYED THAT IT WAS OFF WHEN A PASSENGER WAS OCCUPYING THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
