PURCHASED USED 06 MAXIMA IN AUG-SEP TIME FRAME. VEHICLE HAD PROBLEMS WITH NOISE COMING FROM SUSPENSION EITHER FRONT OR BACK(UNKNOWN AT THE TIME). NOISE NEVER WENT AWAY. RECENT OIL CHANGE REVEALED REAR SUSPENSION REPLACEMENT BY GOODYEAR SERVICE REP. CHECK WITH NHTSA AND FOUND OUT RECALL FOR POWER SEATS AND REAR SUSPENSION. RECALL REPAIRS WAS NOT DONE TO CAR. DOES DEALERSHIP REQUIRE KNOWLEDGE OF ALL RECALLS FOR USED VEHICLES. *TR
2006 EAGLE TIRES HAVE CRACKING ON THE SIDEWALLS. THERE IS ALREADY A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION RECALL FOR 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA'S. I HAVE A 2006 WITH THE SAME TIRES (NEWER) BUT SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEM. GOODYEAR DEALER DID NOT WANT TO REPLACE TIRES AS THEY SAY 2006 IS NOT PART OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. 3 OUT OF 4 TIRES WERE SPLITTING ON SIDEWALLS. PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT CONSUMERS ARE STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM WITH NEWER MODELS. ALTHOUGH THEY PUT NEW TIRES ON MY VEHICLE, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THEM ON. *TR
MY 2006 MAXIMA HAS HAD A SHIFTING PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED IT WITH ABOUT 40,000 KM. THE SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND FROM 2ND TO 1ST ARE VERY HARSH AND ERRATIC. THE PROBLEM OCCURS MOSTLY IN STOP AND GO OR VERY LOW SPEED TRAFFIC (20 - 30 KM/HR) HIGH SPEED SHIFTS ARE NO PROBLEM. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND NO ONE COULD PROPERLY DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE PROBLEM. FINALLY FOUND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO SUGGESTED THAT THE SHIFT SOLENOIDS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY, BETWEEN THE TWO OF US WE CONVINCED A DEALER TO CHANGE OUT THE TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER FOR NEW COMPONENTS. HOWEVER, WHILE THE PROBLEM GOT BETTER, IT DID NOT DISAPPEAR AND IS NOW GETTING JUST AS BAD AS WITH THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION. REPEAT VISITS TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS DID NOT RESULT IN ANYTHING WRONG BEING FOUND AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. ULTIMATELY I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS JUST THE WAY THE TRANSMISSION OPERATES AND THERE IS NO FIX. I REALLY LIKE THE VEHICLE BUT THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE MAKES ME HESITANT TO BUY ANOTHER NISSAN .... EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE CHANGED THEIR TRANSMISSION DESIGN. *TR
2006 NISSAN MAXIMA WITH 19000 MILES WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED COMPLETELY FROM THE REST OF THE TIRE. THE TIRE FAILURE CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL AND SPIN INTO CONCRETE DIVIDER AT CENTER OF INTERSTATE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. ON MARCH 18, 2007 THE CONTACT MOVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE GARAGE TO THE STREET WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND THE VEHICLE IN PARK THE CURTAIN/SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING INSPECTED BY THE NISSAN DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 16,000. *AK

MY CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. 90% OF THE DAMAGE WAS THE FRONT END. THE FRONT END ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS DAMAGED TO THE FRAME OF THE CAR. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR, A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA, WAS S10,500.00. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE CAR. *AK
1ST TIME: THE CAR BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND SQUEALED WHEN TURNING. 2ND TIME: THE CAR MADE A LOUD THUMPING NOISE WHEN TURNING. BOTH TIMES WE HAD THE RACK AND PINION STEERING MECHANISM REPLACED BY THE DEALER. *TR UPDATED 09/26/07 *TR
GOODYEAR RSA EAGLE TIRE OEM ON A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA SIZE 245/45/ZR18. DEVELOPED STRESS FRACTURES ON INSIDE SIDE WALLS ON NOV 2006 CAR WAS 6 MONTHS OLD WITH 20,000 MILES AMPLE TREAD LIFE. APRIL 2007 AT 36,000 TIRE ARE COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND NEEDING REPLACEMENT WITH AMPLE TIRE TREAD LEFT. ALIGNMENT (4 WHEEL) CHECKS OUT OK DEALER INFORMED OWNER IT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.*JB
MY TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT ON MY 06 NISSAN MAXIMA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE NISSAN MAXIMA, AS TOLD TO ME BY A WORKER IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THERE IS A SMALL SLIT BETWEEN THE DISPLAY SCREEN AND THE SMALL DECK UNDER IT. APPARENTLY, CHANGE OFTEN SLIPS THROUGH THERE. IF THIS IS DONE, A MODULATOR CAN BE DAMAGED. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ON REVERSING THE VEHICLE OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, THE FRONT END WAS NOT CLEAR OF THE CURB. WHEN DRIVE WAS ENGAGED AND THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED, THE FRONT LEFT BOUNCED OVER THE CURB. AS THIS HAPPENED, A METALLIC BANG WAS HEARD, THEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD OUT OF CONTROL. THE STEERING WOULD NOT RESPOND AND THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER ANOTHER CURB KNOCKED DOWN A SIGN POST AND THEN ON IMPACT OF A STONE PILLAR, CAUSING ALL AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. THE WEATHER WAS DRY AND CLEAR AND THE PARKING LOT WAS ASPHALT. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN, PROPERTY DAMAGE WAS INCURRED AND THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE POLICE IMPOUND, THE CONTACTS INSURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PICTURES WERE TAKEN. THE SERVICE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED.
I BOUGHT A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA 2/27/06 AND IT HAS A RATTLING NOISE SOMEWHERE UNDERNEATH THE CAR. WHEN I NOTICE THIS NOISE BRING IT TO A NISSAN DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THEY WORK ON IT SEVERAL TIME AND STILL DIDN'T FIX IT. I WAS UNHAPPY WITH THIS AND LAUNCH A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIR. A CONSUMER AFFAIR SPECIALIST TOLD ME TO TAKE IT ANOTHER DEALER WHICH I DID. NOW IT'S BEEN A MONTH OR MORE GOING BACK AND FORTH TO GET THIS NOISE PROBLEM CORRECTED. I STILL HAVE THE CAR WHICH STILL HAVE THIS RATTLING NOISE. *NM
THERE IS AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD. MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT ON DEPTH PERCEPTION. *JB
PURCHASED VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER 2005. TIRES WERE ROTATED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN APRIL 2006 SERVICE. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AT A CONSTANT SPEED OF 55MPH. EXCESSIVE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL IS EXPERIENCED AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 45MPH TO 60MPH. EXCESSIVE VIBRATION STOPS IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND BEGINS IN THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AT SPEEDS THAT EXEED 60MPH. RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS UNRESOLVED. TECHNICIAN ADVISED ME THAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE A DEFECTIVE TIRE. MADE CONTACT WITH NISSAN CORPORATION OF AMERICA (REF# 5602757)WHERE I WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO REPORTED COMPLAINTS, RECALLS OR DEFECTS RECORDED. I WAS ADVISED TO RETURN TO LOCAL AREA DEALERSHIP AND SPEAK WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. MAKING CONTACT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS UNSUCCESSFUL, EVEN AFTER LEAVING MESSAGE. FEBRUARY 2007 CONTACTED GOODYEAR TIRE PER THE ADVICE OF THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN AND REPLACE ALLEGED DEFECTIVE TIRE AT COST TO ME. TO THIS DATE, THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST.
SHIMMY IN STEERING WHEEL FROM THE DAY I GOT THE CAR. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE AT 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SWERVES TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER STATED THIS WAS NORMAL FOR A VEHICLE WITH 18 INCH TIRES. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER THE REASON HE EXPERIENCED THE JERKING OF THE VEHICLE WAS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS 18 INCH WHEELS AND THE WHEELS WANT TO FOLLOW THE ROAD IRREGULARITIES. UPDATED 04/06/06
THE PASSENGER SEATBELT ON MY 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA ALWAYS LOCKS UP ON MY WIFE JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. SHE IS 5'4 210LBS, IT DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN SHE DRIVES. I ASKED A FEW OF MY FRIENDS AND TWO OF THEM SAID IT HAPPENS TO THEIR WIVES ALSO IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, ONE IS HEAVY ALSO BUT ANOTHER ISN'T HEAVY AT ALL. NON OF MY MALE FRIENDS THAT SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT HAVE IT HAPPEN. EASTER ON THE WAY HOME SHE GOT MAD AND TOOK THE BELT OFF TWO MILES FROM HOME. THAT'S NOT GOOD. HOW MANY OTHER CARS HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH FEMALES IN THE PASSENGER SEAT? *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA 3 WEEKS AGO. AS OF TODAY THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 2 TIMES, AND IS CURRENTLY HAVING PROBLEMS. IT WILL BE TAKEN BACK MONDAY AND HOPEFULLY WILL RECEIVE A NEW CAR. IT ALL STARTED WHEN ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING AND THE LOCKS ON THE DOORS STARTED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING BY THEMSELVES, THE WINDOWS WOULDN'T ROLL DOWN AND WHEN I GOT HOME I WASN'T ABLE TO TURN MY KEY IN THE IGNITION. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF TRYING TO HOLD DOWN THE LOCK MANUALLY IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF MY CAR, I FINALLY TIMES IT RIGHT BEFORE THE LOCK SLAPPED BACK AND WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE. WE TOOK IT IN THE SHOP WHERE IT REMAINED FOR 6 DAYS. WE GOT IT BACK AND A FEW DAYS LATER THE HAZARD LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING, THE CENTER CONSOLE LIGHTS WOULDN'T LIGHT UP, AND ONE OF THE VENTS WOULDN'T TURN. THEY TOOK IT BACK IN FOR A DAY AND WE TOOK IT BACK HOME. IT WORKED PROPERLY FOR A DAY UNTIL THE LOCKS STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. WE'VE HAD IT WITH THIS CAR. IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN ITS BEEN WITH US, AND WE'VE ONLY OWNED IT 3 WEEKS. WE PAID $32K FOR A ROTTEN EGG AND WE'RE TIRED OF GETTING THE RUN AROUND. *JB
THE PAINT OR COATING ON THE PAINT GETS SCRATCHED WITHOUT ANY EXTRA ORDINARY USAGE. I BELIEVE IT EVEN HAPPENS FROM RAIN. THE CAR IS ONLY 4 MONTHS OLD HAS SCRATCHES AL OVER IT. *JB

IT BUMP SO HARD DOING ACCELERATION THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 2 DAYS AGO. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP IT'S THE MOTOR MOUNTS OTHER REPAIR COMPANIES SAYS IT'S MORE SERIOUS AND IT'S THE TRANSMISSION. I CALL NISSAN MOTOR CO. AND WAS TOLD THEIR ARE NO RECALLS, BUT WHEN I LOOKED ON CARSURVEY.COM AND OTHER SITES A MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MAIN PROBLEM OCCURS IN SHIFTING BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. IT HAS OCCURRED EVERY DAY ON NEARLY EVERY STARTUP SINCE FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW. I WAS QUOTED FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION, BUT HAVE YET TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MAXIMA AND THE CAR IS JERKING AND JUMPING WHILE DRIVING AND UPON STOPPING. IT OCCURS EVERYTIME I DRIVE THE CAR AND I'VE TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND IT WAS PUT ON A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY STATED THAT ITS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. DEFECTIVE 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. *KB *NM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 06/19/2006 HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO WORK. SHE CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND WHEN SHE WENT TO PULL OUT, THE VEHICLE WOULD BARELY MOVE . IT SEEMED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT AND SHE COULD ONLY GO 20 MPH AFTER TAKING OFF. THE SAME PROBLEM RECURRED OFTEN. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A HONDA DEALER, WHO HOOKED IT UP TO COMPUTER TO LOOK AT DIAGNOSTIC CODES. HOWEVER, THE COMPUTER DID NOT SHOW ANYTHING WRONG. THUS, OUT OF THE FIRST 35 DAYS SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE CAR, IT WAS IN THE REPAIE SHOP 18 DAYS. *AK
