2010 MAXIMA HAS PROBLEM CAN'T DRIVE FROM CVT
STEERING- WHEN TURNING THE COLUM IT SQUEEKS; RIGHT OR LEFT AS I AM SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE THE TURN. SUSPENSION- STRUT INSLUATORS NEED TO BE REPLACED; THIS WAS MENTIONED YEARS BACK IN A RECALL AND MINE ARE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED, I AM NOT ORIGIONAL OWNER. PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT- CONSTANTLY ON LOWER CONTROL ARMS- REPLACED DRIVERS SIDE BUT NEEDS PASSENGER SIDE REPLACED AS WELL
STEERING COLUMN FAILURE. THE STEERING LOCKING MECHANISM SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. HAD TO GET IT TOWED AND COST NEARLY $1,500 TO GET THE VEHICLE FIXED. FOR A WELL MAINTAINED 2010 MAXIMA, THATS A LARGE UNEXPECTED BILL. SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO LOTS OF NISSAN MODELS. NISSAN NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS SITUATION.
ON SUNDAY, 5 FEBRUARY 2017, I LEFT MY HOUSE TO VISIT MY BROTHER AT 10AM AND WHEN I CAME BACK OUTSIDE (20MINS LATER) TO MY CAR, IT WOULD NOT START. AN ORANGE LIGHT THAT READ "KEY" POPPED UP ON THE DASHBOARD. TRIED TO START THE CAR AND THE KEY LIGHT CAME ON, BRAKES WERE HARD TO PRESS, AND THE IGNITION WOULD NOT START ONLY LOCK WOULD SHOW UP ON THE PUSH TO START BUTTON. AFTER TWO HOURS, I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE, I DID SOME SEARCHING ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN MAXIMA AND NOT COVERED BY ANY EXTENDED WARRANTIES; THOUGH I READ THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED OFTEN ENOUGH WITH THE 2009 MAXIMA THAT NISSAN ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THIS REPAIR. THE PIECE IN QUESTION THAT WAS THE PROBLEM... QUOTED BY NISSAN IS THE "STEERING LOCK." THIS PIECE HAS BEEN RECALLED BY NISSAN IN THE EARLIER MODELS, BUT APPARENTLY NOT FOR MY VEHICLE (WHICH IS THE YEAR AFTER THE ONE THAT IS RECALLED) APPARENTLY THEY DIDN'T FIX THIS ISSUE. MONDAY, 6 FEBRUARY 2017, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO CONFIRM MY CAR ISSUE (LOCK STEERING) AND THE COST WAS GOING TO BE $1104 TO REPAIR, WITH MY MILITARY DISCOUNT THE COST WAS $985.46. STILL THIS IS MONEY I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY CONSIDERING THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER MALFUNCTION AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WEAR AND TEAR OF VEHICLE. WHICH, BTW, THE VEHICLE IS IN GREAT SHAPE AND HAS HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND ALL WORK COMPLETED BY A NISSAN TECHNICIAN WHICH MAKES THIS EVEN MORE FRUSTRATING. THIS COMPLAINT IS TO NOT ONLY BRING ATTENTION TO THE ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE 2010 NISSAN MAXIMA, BUT TO ALSO GET REIMBURSED FOR MY OUT OF POCKET REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL NISSAN CUSTOMER SINCE 2000 (THIS IS MY THIRD MAXIMA; FAVORITE TYPE OF CAR), BUT I CAN HONESTLY SAY NISSAN, YOU'RE LOSING YET ANOTHER CUSTOMER'THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
MY WIFE WAS STRANDED AT A BUSINESS AND OUR CAR WOULDN'T START. AFTER CALLING OUR LOCAL DEALER, IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING LOCK. WE PURCHASED THIS 2010 MAXIMA NEW IN SEPT. 2009. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY NISSAN. WE HAVE 67000 MILES AND WAS TOLD THAT IT'S NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE.
VEHICLE IS AN IMPLACABLE CONDITION. JUST TURNED ONLY 70,000 MILES. CAR WAS PARKED AT MY PLACE OF BUSINESS. WHEN I CAME OUT TO GO HOME THE KEY LIGHT WAS ON. UPON DIAG. FOUND THE STEERING LOCK SOLENOID HAS MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE STRANDED. HAVING THE CAR TOWED 20 MILES AT MY EXPENSE I FIND PUT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR YEAR MAKE AND MODEL. VERY COSTLY REPAIR. *TR
WENT TO USE CAR BEFORE WORK AND IT WOULDN'T START. TO THE PROPER MEASURES TO START IT BY GIVING IT A JUMP AND NO AVAIL. I FINALLY LOOKED IN THE MANUAL FOR THE WARNING NISSAN INTELLIGENT KEY ISSUE AND NO SOLUTION WAS FOUND. I BEGAN RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS A NATIONAL PROBLEM AND 09 NISSANS WERE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE BUT NOT NEWER MODELS. THIS TENDS TO HAPPEN AFTER 65K MILES AND MY CAR IS AT 91K. THE REPAIRS ARE EXPENSIVE AND CAUSED TO A DEFECT NOT THE WEAR AND TEAR OF THE DRIVER. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *TR

THE CAR DOESN'T START, THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT LOCKED AND IT SHOWS A RED LIGHT WITH A KEY IN THE DASHBOARD, I WAS IN A PARKING LOT DOING GROCERY AND WHEN I WENT TO THE CAR TO GO BACK HOME IT DIDN'T START, SHOWING THAT RED LIGHT WITH A KEY ON IT.
VEHICLE WON'T START AT TIMES. HAS STRANDED MY WIFE MULTIPLE TIMES. EACH TIME REQUIRED A JUMP. THOUGHT WAS BATTERY, SO REPLACED. CONTINUED TO FAIL. THIS LAST TIME WIFE TRIED TO TURN WHEEL A BIT WHILE LOCKED AND VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STARTED AGAIN, SHE AVOIDED BEING STRANDED ONCE AGAIN. KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN.
I'M THE SECOND OWNER & IT'S RUN FINE SINCE NOVEMBER 2011. YESTERDAY IT WOULDN'T START DUE TO THE FAULTY/BROKEN IGNITION SWITCH. TOWED IT TO DEALER & IT'S GOING TO BE $910 TO REPLACE THE FAULTY ELECTRONIC IGNITION. VIN CONTAINS A'S (NOT B'S), INDICATING IT WAS FROM FIRST HALF OF 2010. IT PROBABLY HAS THE SAME DEFECT AS THE 2009 MAXIMAS THAT WERE RECALLED. DEALER 'CORRECTLY' STATES THE 2010 DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL, BUT IT SHOULD. LOVE NISSAN CARS, BUT AFTER THIS, I'LL NEVER TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. NISSAN NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THESE CARS TO RECIPROCATE CUSTOMER LOYALTY.
ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE AFTER WORK, MY CAR WOULD NOT START. I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A FLASHING YELLOW LIGHT AND I PLUGGED THAT INTO GOOGLE. IT APPEARED THAT IT WAS THE STEERING LOCK CONTROL MECHANISM AND IT WAS COMMON FOR THIS TO FAIL. I HAD TO GET MY CAR TOWED FROM WORK TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CHARGE WAS $900 FOR THE PART AND $250 FOR THE SERVICE. DOING RESEARCH, I NOTICED THAT THIS PART WAS RECALLED FOR 2009 ALTIMAS. I BOUGHT MY CAR IN 2009, BUT IT WAS A 2010 MODEL, SO IT IS MY ASSUMPTION THAT THIS WAS MADE WITH THESE 2009 PARTS. THIS PART IS VITAL APPARENTLY, AS IT CAUSES ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WITH THE STARTER TO DISABLE. I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT TRAVELING AS I WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED. IT FEELS THAT NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOT FIXING IT AND CHARGING A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR THE PART ALONE. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE FOR USERS OF NISSAN'S TO NOT BE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND NOT HAVE THIS PART FIXED IMMEDIATELY. NISSAN SHOULD DO THEIR PART AND OFFER A REPLACEMENT FOR FREE SO INDIVIDUALS HAVE FAITH IN USING THEIR SERVICES AGAIN.
GOT IN CAR LEAVING FROM GYM THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED COULD NOT MOVE IT. CALLED DEALER WHO TOLD ME TO HOLD KEY FOB OVER CAR IGNITION DID NOT RESOLVE SITUATION. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED . I GOT ON LINE TO RESEARCH ABOUT THIS LOCKING MECHANISM AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MILLIONS OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS TO THIS VERY ISSUE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MILLIONS OF COMPLAINTS BEING FILED AGAINST NISSAN FOR THIS SITUATION. APPARENTLY THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS INTERNAL STEERING WHEEL LOCK MECHANISM HOWEVER NISSAN HAS PASSED THE COST OF THE FAULTY COMPONENT ONTO THE UNEXPECTED CONSUMER. THIS COST ME $1000.00 . SHAME ON YOU NISSAN. THANK GOD I WAS NOT IN MOTION. *TR
VEHICLE STARTED FINE, MADE A STOP AT THE STORE BEFORE HEADING TO WORK IN THE AM, CAME OUT OF STORE ONLY TO FIND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. CALLED SERVICE DEPARTMENT USED FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE. ESCL OR ELECT. STEERING CONTROL LOCK MODULE BAD AND WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. PROBLEM KNOWN/COMMON BY NISSAN NEITHER EXTENDED WARRANTY NOR NISSAN WANT TO PAY TO REPAIR. WITH THIS BEING KNOWN AND COMMON THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PART.
CAR STARTED FINE ALL MORNING, I WENT INSIDE TOF PAY A BILL NOT EVEN 10 MINUTES LATER. I WENT TO MY CAR TO CRANK UP AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD, BRAKES WERE HARD, AND THE KEY DISPLAY FLASHING. I CALLED A MECHANIC TO TRY EVERYTHING NO BUDGE, SOON I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. NISSAN CALLED THE NEXT DAY STATING THAT THE STEERING WHEEL MECHANISM HAD FAILED AND WARRANTY WAS COVERING IT. I ENDED UP DISHING OUT OVER 1300.00 TO GET IT FIX.
I BEEN HAVING VIBRATIONS AND CLUNK NOISES SINCE I BROUGHT THE CAR IN 2013 THE CAR SHAKES AND VIBRATES AT 55 MPH SINCE THEN I REPLACE SHOCKS STRUTS BALL JOINTS CONTROL ARMS AND TIRES BUT THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE.
CAR WILL NOT START DUE TO STEERING WHEEL LOCK MALFUNCTION. CALLED MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHO ADVISED ME OF THE PROBLEM WHICH THEY ARE AWARE OF. HOWEVER, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THIS ISSUE EXPIRED MARCH OF 2015. SO THAT LEAVES THE CUSTOMER WITH AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE OF 900-1100 DOLLARS. NISSAN HAS NOT ISSUED ANY RECALL. I'M STUCK PAYING FOR A CAR THAT DOESN'T START AND FORCED TO SHELL OUT OVER A $1000 FOR A PROBLEM THAT IS THE MANFACTURER'S FAULT. THIS IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY. A COMPLETE RIPOFF TO NISSAN'S CUSTOMERS. THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE. I WILL NEVER EVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN AGAIN. AND I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT ONE ELSE DOES.
NISSAN HAS ON ITS SITE THAT THE NEWER MODEL NISSAN MAXIMA AFTER 2009 DOES NOT HAVE THE ESCL MALFUNCTION (ELECTRIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK) BUT I JUST EXPERIENCED IT TWO WEEKS AGO AFTER DROPPING OFF MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. LUCKILY I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN IT OCCURRED. WHEN THE CAR GOES INTO THAT STATE, THE ENTIRE CAR IS ON LOCK DOWN IT WILL NOT MOVE. IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU ANYWHERE AND YOU CAN BE STRANDED.NISSAN KNOWS IT'S A MALFUNCTION AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO MAKE IT A RECALL, PLUS THEY PROMISED THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN TO THE NEWER MODELS AFTER 2009 BUT IT HAPPENED TO ME ON 11/1/16. IN THE SITE THEY TELL YOU WHAT THEY WILL DO BUT IT IS NOT HONORED.
THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THAT NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT IN THEIR 2009 MODELS. THE REPAIR IS GOING TO COST ME, AND ANYONE THAT COMES THIS ISSUES, AND THAT OUT OF WARRANTY $1100.00. THIS REPAIR ISN'T GUARANTEED EITHER. CALLED CONSUMER AFFAIRS ONLY TO BE TOLD NO. THIS PART YOU NEED IS ONLY AVAILABLE AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP, AND THE PART ITSELF COST $900. FOR NISSAN TO NOT STAND BY THEIR CARS IS A SHAME.
MY WIFE'S 2010 MAXIMA HAS ISSUES WITH THE AIRBAG SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND IT DOESN'T OPERATE CORRECTLY. IT IS THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2013 NISSAN RECALLS BUT THAT RECALL DOESN'T GO BACK FAR ENOUGH. I'VE CONTACTED NISSAN HEADQUARTERS AND THEY JUST BLEW ME OFF. THE CONTACT PERSON'S NAME IS [XXX] WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND HE HAS YET TO CONTACT ME BY MY CELL. THEY KEEP CALLING ME ON MY HOME NUMBER AND WE AREN'T HOME MOST OF THE TIME. I'VE RECENTLY CALLED THEM AGAIN THIS PAST FRIDAY AND THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID SOMEONE WILL CONTACT ME IN A FEW HOURS. TODAY IS WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 14, 2016 AND STILL NO PHONE CALL. I WAS ADVISED A FEW WEEKS AGO TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND GET A QUOTE BY NISSAN HQ AND CALL THEM BACK WITH THE INFORMATION. I'VE DONE THAT AND NOW THEY WON'T RETURN MY CALLS. [XXX] CONTACT NUMBER IS [XXX] AND MD CASE # [XXX]. NISSAN KEEPS CLOSING MY CASE NUMBER AND WON'T ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. I JUST DON'T WANT MY FAMILY PUT AT RISK IF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DOESN'T DEPLOY BECAUSE OF A FAULTY SENSOR IN THE SEAT. I WANT NISSAN TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMETHING HORRIBLE HAPPENS. THE CONTACT PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR NISSAN IS [XXX] AND THAT NUMBER IS [XXX]. STEERING LOCK CONTROL UNIT LEFT ME STRANDED. PARKED MY CAR THE NIGHT PRIOR AS USUAL AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART MY CAR THE NEXT MORNING LEAVING ME WITHOUT A WAY TO GET MY KIDS TO SCHOOL. AFTER READING UP ON THIS ISSUE I HAVE FOUND COMPLAINT AFTER COMPLAINT. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER.
PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY. IF THE SUNSHADE HAD NOT BEEN CLOSED, ALL OF THE PASSENGERS WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IN BROKEN GLASS.
THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK MODULE BROKE. THE CAR WOULD NOT START OR DRIVE. I HAD DRIVEN IT TO A HOME. STOPPED THE VEHICLE, TURNED IT OFF. WHEN I GOT BACK IN, IT DID NOT WORK AT ALL. THE CAR WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE MY INTELLIGENT KEY. PUSHING THE START BUTTON DID NOTHING. IT DID NOT EVEN LIGHT UP.
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY HEADED TO NASHVILLE,TENNESSEE. I HAD BEEM DRIVING APROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES WHEN MY GAS PEDAL STOP WORKING ON ME. THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND I START PULLING OVER TO GET OUTBOF OTHER CARS WAYS. THE BREAKS WERE STILL WORKING BUT THE GAS WAS NOT WORKING. I TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF AND STILL NO GAS BUT ALLL OF THE SUDDEN ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CALL MY INSURANCE FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I HAVE NEVER HAD OR HEARD OF AN ISSUE LIKE THIS.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW AND IT NOW HAS 49,000 MILES ON IT. IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS, THE STEERING WHEEL HAS LOCKED 3X AND I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO START MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT STARTED BY CONTINUOUSLY STEPPING ON THE BRAKE AND SHIMMY THE WHEEL. I'M A 65 YEAR OLD FEMALE AND IT TAKES MINIMALLY 5 MINUTES TO COMPLETE THIS TASK IN A VEHICLE OVERHEATED BY THE SOARING SUMMER TEMPS. THIS US UNHEALTHY AND A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
TORQUE MOTOR MOUNT CRACKED
DESCRIPTION: NISSAN: KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE AND OIL NOT REGISTERING ON THE STICK BUT OIL IS NOT LEAKING ANYWHERE. KNOCKING OCCURS WHEN CAR STARTS AND SOMETIME WHEN DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TO SOUTHERN CAL, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 2000 RPMS PERIODICALLY. I PARKED THE CAR FOR 1 - 2 HRS AND IT SEEMED TO START WORKING AGAIN. ONCE HOME, I HEADED TO THE MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED COMPLETELY. I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED AND CALLED NISSAN ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE ONCE I MADE IT HOME THE ODOMETER WAS ABOVE 120,000.
I GOT MY KEY LIGHT ON AND MY LOCK STEERING IS BAD MY CAR WON'T START.
MY POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED AT 80 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I DID NOT RECIEVE ANY WARNING OF AN ISSUE. IT JUST STOPPED WORKING .I ALMOST HIT AN EIGHTEEN WHEELER!!
THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING MY CAR TO NOT START. WITH THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION AS LONG AS I HAVE THE KEY AND STEP ON THE BRAKE THE CAR SHOULD START. THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN FAILED SO EVEN WITH THE KEY IT WOULD NOT START. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO RECOGNIZE MY KEY WHICH IT SHOULD DO AUTOMATICALLY WHEN I GET CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE CAR. SINCE THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO DO THIS IT PRETTY MUCH WENT INTO LOCK DOWN MODE AS IF SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO STEAL THE CAR. MY CAR SHOULD NEVER TREAT ME AS SOMEONE TRYING TO STEAL IT ESPECIALLY IF I HAVE THE KEY. AS A RESULT I HAD TO SPEND OVER $1,300 TO FIX IT AND THE WORST PART IS THAT NO ONE CAN TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT CAUSED IT SO EVEN THOUGH I SPENT ALL THAT MONEY TO FIX IT, IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN FOR NO REASON AND NO ON CAN TELL ME WHY. AND IT NOT LIKE THERE IS ANY WARNING THAT IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. I DROVE THE CAR EARLIER IN THE DAY WITH NO PROBLEM. THEN MY FIANCE TRIED TO START THE CAR WHILE IT WAS PARKED IN HER DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR SIMPLY WOULD NOT START. THANK GOODNESS SHE WAS AT HOME WHERE IT WAS EASILY ABLE TO BE TOWED, BUT IF SHE WAS HOURS AWAY FROM HOME IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE AND THIS HAPPENED IT WOULD'VE BEEN A MUCH WORSE SITUATION. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SEE THAT WHAT HAPPENED TO ME DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE.
AC TURNS OFF AND ON WHILE STATIONARY OR MOVING. I'VE HAD THIS CAR ALMOST 3 YEARS NOW AND EVERY YEAR I'VE HAD TO GET MY AC SERVICED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000.
TAKATA RECALL THE HOOD SHAKES TREMENDOUSLY WHEN SPEEDS ARE REACHED AT 70+. THE CAR SHAKES SO BAD THAT IT SEEMS AS IF THE HOOD IS GOING TO COME THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD IF YOU DON'T DECREASE YOUR SPEED. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND INCREASING SPEED TO 65+ THE HOOD STARTS TO SHAKE, I THOUGHT AT FIRST MAYBE THAT IT WAS THE WIND BUT THEN I SOON RECOGNIZED THIS COULDN'T BE THE CASE BECAUSE THE SUN WAS OUT AND THE WIND WASN'T BLOWING.
PARKED VEHICLE WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE ENERGIZED FOB START SIGNAL, REQUIRING TOW TO DEALERSHIP, REPLACEMENT OF STEERING LOCK ASSEMBLY (PARTS COST $744.68). AT 64,247 MI (OUT OF WARRANTEE), ISSUE IS OF DESIGN WITHOUT EMERGENCY MECHANICAL STARTING PROCEDURE, EXTREME COST OF REPLACEMENT, UNFORESEEN FAILURE NOT DUE TO OPERATOR.
IN SEPTEMBER 2015 I PURCHASED A ONE OWNER CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2010 MAXIMA WITH ALL SERVICE RECORDS UP TO DATE WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY; THINKING I WAS AS SAFE AS I COULD BE. JUST 5 SHORT MONTHS LATER ON FEBRUARY 8, 2016 AFTER WORK, AT DUSK MY 2010 MAXIMA WITH ONLY 82,700 MILES FAILED TO START. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY HARD AND NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN I PUSHED THE START BUTTON. THIS POSES AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD, AS I WORK IN THE FIELD IN CRIME STRICKEN AREAS; HENCE BUYING A CPO VEHICLE AND PURCHASING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THERE WAS NO WARNING WHATSOEVER THAT THIS WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. I HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 45 MINUTES, IN THE DARK ON THE WEST SIDE OF SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS FOR A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP. BEING THAT IT WAS AFTER 6PM, THE DEALER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MORNING. DEALERSHIP CALLED THE NEXT DAY TO INFORM ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE STEERING LOCK ASSEMBLY, WHICH IS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WILL COST ME $925+TAX!!! THE CAR WAS OPERATING JUST FINE; NO REASON TO THINK I WAS AT RISK OF BEING STRANDED. ACCORDING TO ONLINE RESEARCH, HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE AND BEEN STRANDED WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND/OR IN HORRIBLE WHETHER CONDITIONS, YET NO RECALL. 2009 NISSAN MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME FAULTY PART. SINCE THE SAME PART CONTINUED TO BE USED ON 2010 MODELS, WHY WAS THIS RECALL NOT EXTENDED FOR 2010 MODELS? NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS EXPENSIVE FAULTY PART BEFORE SOMETHING HORRIBLE HAPPENS TO SOMEONE.
KEY LOCK WILL NOT ALLOW CAR TO START OR TURN IGNITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
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
I DOUBLE PARKED MY 2010 MAXIMA TO RUN INTO A STORE TO BUY A NEWSPAPER. WHEN I RETURNED A MINUTE LATER TO THE CAR, IT WOULD NOT START - THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. I WAS STRANDED ON A VERY BUSY AVENUE WITH A LOT OF TRAFFIC. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE 2010 MAXIMA, I AM SHOCKED THAT NISSAN HAS NOT RECALLED THIS CAR TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. I HAD TO WAIT 4 HOURS IN THE FREEZING COLD BEFORE A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. THE DRIVER TOOK ME TO THE BAY RIDGE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED AT A COST OF $1,056.00. I ALSO MISSED A DAY'S WORK DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS DEFINITELY A VEHICLE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
BOTH FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLY IS DAMAGED AND CRACKING. RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM SEEMS TO NEED REPLACED. SUSPENSION FEELS STIFF AND IS LOUD WHEN GO OVER SMALL BUMPS
FROM THE TIME I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 12/2015, I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH MY STEERING. IT YANKS ME ALL OVER THE ROAD AND I HAVE TO FIGHT THE STEERING TO KEEP FROM HITTING OTHER CARS NEXT TO ME. IT'S A NIGHTMARE EVERY TIME I HAVE TO DRIVE IT AND IT'S HAD 3 BLOWOUTS ON THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. MY MECHANIC CAN;T SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM WITH IT. HE SUGGESTED PUTTING 4 BRAND NEW TIRES ON THE CAR TO SEE IT IT HELPS. IT DID NOT HELP ONE BIT, WHEN THE ROADS ARE WET IT'S LIKE DRIVING ON GLASS, I'M SO AFRAID THIS CAR IS GOING TO KILL ME. ALSO, I CAN'T KEEP BUYING A NEW TIRE FOR THE FRONT RIGHT EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. UNEXPECTEDLY, AFTER DRIVING ONE KID TO SCHOOL THIS MORNING, VEHICLE (STATIONARY) WOULD NOT START TO DRIVE MY OTHER KID TO MIDDLE SCHOOL. THE ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK (ESCL) UNIT THAT LOCKS THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF TO HELP PREVENT THEFT PREVENTS THE VEHICLE FROM RECOGNIZING MY KEY (FOB), NO REGULAR KEY IS ISSUED, JUST BUTTON START. IN MY VEHICLE THE ESCL MAY MALFUNCTION AFTER THE VEHICLE IS LOCKED AND COULD PREVENT THE ENGINE FROM STARTING. STILL WAITING TO HEAR THE DREADFUL CALL FROM THE DEALER (HAVE TO BE TOWED AND I AM NOT EVEN DONE MAKING PAYMENTS FOR MY 2010 MAXIMA) TO SEE WHAT THE DAMAGE WILL BE OR IF COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. NOT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK, MEANS IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. IF YOU ARE STRANDED WITH A NON RELIABLE CAR, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT CAN BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOUNTAINS OR THE MIDDLE OF A DESERT, NO WAY TO START A CAR IF NO MECHANIC KEY IS ISSUED AND THE ONLY OPTION, THE FOB, IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY YOUR OWN CAR.
STEERING WHEEL LOCK SYSTEM WORKS WITH FAB TURNING ON VEHICLE DISENGAGED AND THE WIRING WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE CULPRIT AND WITHOUT THE REPAIR OF $950 THE CAR WILL NOT TURN ON. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING JUST FINE 1 HOUR PRIOR TO LOCKING ME OUT AND CAUSING MANY OF HOURS WITH AAA DIAGNOSTICS, THEN TOWING TO 2 SEPARATE LOCATIONS AND I ASKED THE DEALER IF THIS IS A ROUTINE ISSUE IT SEEMS EXTREME AND A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH RESULTING IF IT HAPPENED WHEN ON THE ROAD AND NOT IN MY GARAGE TO QUOTE THEIR RESPONSE WAS NO IT WOULDN'T OF DONE IT WHILE DRIVING BUT IT COULD OF DESERTED YOU IN A LOCATION OTHER THAN YOUR HOME CAUSING YOU EVEN FURTHER INCONVENIENCE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD, I MAINTAIN IT BY OPERATORS MANUAL, I CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW UPSETTING IT IS TO HAVE A VEHICLE WITH THE "AUTO THEFT" SELLING POINT BE A FAULTY MANUFACTURING OF THE ABILITY FOR OWNERS TO START THEIR VEHICLE. THE RANDOM STOP WORKING IS VERY CONCERNING BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL CANNOT MOVE. ITS DEFINITELY A VEHICLE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THIS SITUATION.
DROVE THE MAXIMA 2010 TO COUSINS HOUSE WAS THERE FOR APPROX 4 HOURS WENT OUT TO COME HOME TRIED TO START THE CAR NOTHING. CHANGED BATTERY'S IN KEY POD AND CHECKED FUSES ALL OK. IT IS SHOWING A KEY IN THE ODOMETER BLINKING AND ONE IN THE RPM GAUGE. READ THE MANUAL AND IT STATED A STEERING LOCK MECH COULD BE FAULTY AND TO TAKE TO A NISSAN DEALER. I HAVE NOTICED THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY NISSAN HAS NOT STEPPED UP TO RECALL THIS ISSUE. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY THANK GOD, AND I WAS ABOUT 5 MILES FROM HOME. BUT WHAT IF IT WAS IN A AREA THAT WE DRIVE TO ON OCCASION TO PAY BILLS THAT ARE NOT AS SAFE. SCARY THOUGHT.
I DROVE TO A FRIENDS WAS OUT OF THE VEHICLE ABOUT ONE HOUR.THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED STILL. I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULDN'T START. I CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND GOT A TOW TO NISSAN DEALER. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO PAY $115.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THEN THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS MY STEERING LOCK UNIT AND IT WOULD COST ME $1109.09.
TRIED TURNING ON MY VEHICLE AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. CANNOT START MY VEHICLE, THE BRAKE IS NOT WORKING AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED.
