1/1/15 MODERATE VIBRATION IN VEHICLE AT 60MPH TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER IN MARCH TO BALANCE TIRES. UPON LEAVING STILL FELT VIBRATION.4/1/2015 RETURNED VEHICLE ADVISED OF MODERATE VIBRATION EXPERIENCED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.ADVISED THEY FELT VIBRATION, TOOK OFF MY WHEELS/TIRES AND SWAPPED THEM FROM A NEW MAXIMA COULD STILL FEEL VIBRATION.ADVISED THEY PLAN TO CHANGE DRIVE-AXLE.LATER ADVISED AFTER REPAIRS VIBRATION STILL EXISTED TRANSMISSION TO BE REPLACED.LATER ADVISED AFTER CHANGING TRANSMISSION VIBRATION REMAINED.ADVISED THE TECH HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS AND REGIONAL TECH CONTACTED TO ASSIST.LATER ADVISED TO CHANGE ENGINE MOUNTS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY $50 DEDUCTIBLE.AGREED AND CONTACTED LATER THAT ALONG W/ REGIONAL TECH WERE STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE CAUSE.LATER CONTACTED VEHICLE WAS READY.4/30/15 ADVISED THAT THEY WERE 'STUMPED BUT BELIEVED THEY FIXED, SWAPPED OUT PARTS FROM ANOTHER MAXIMA" ADVISED TO 'TAKE HOME AND DRIVE FOR A WEEK IF IT'S STILL SHAKING TO BRING IT BACK.' DIDN'T LEAVE FEELING CONFIDENT REPAIRS WERE MADE. WHILE DRIVING HOME ABLE TO FEEL VIBRATION RETURNED THAT EVENING. 5/1/15 ADVISED THEY COULD STILL FEEL VIBRATION. 5/6/15 CONTACTED THEY HAD MADE EVERY ATTEMPT TO CORRECTED, HOWEVER 'AT THIS TIME UNABLE TO REPAIR'. ADVISED INVESTIGATION OPENED TO LOOK INTO, CONTACTED BY NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE ADVISED THEY WOULD LOOK INTO REPAIRS AND START CASE TO BUY BACK. 5/14/15 ADVISED AFTER LOOKING INTO THE REPAIRS, DEALER TECH SAYS VIBRATIONS WERE NORMAL. AFTER OWNING SIX NISSAN'S AND OTHER BRANDS HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ISSUE. ADVISED TECH TEST DROVE OTHER MAXIMS AND ALL HAD SAME SHAKING, THEREFORE IT'S NORMAL.OVER WEEKEND ASKED NUMEROUS MAXIMA OWNERS IN PERSON AND SOCIAL MEDIA IF THEY EXPERIENCED THIS AND ALL SAID NO.I FEEL EVERY TIME MY FAMILY IS IN VEHICLE IT POSES A SAFETY HAZARDOUS TO US AND OTHER WHERE A MALFUNCTION COULD BE FATAL. *TR
MY AIR BAG SIGNAL ALWAYS SHOWS THAT ITS NOT ON. SO IT WORRIES ME BECAUSE I NOTICED THAT IF YOU WEIGH MORE THAN 120 IT WILL POP UP WHICH MAKES ME FEEL UNSAFE. THE CAR IS NEW AND IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING WITH AN ADULT OVER 120LBS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, AIRBAG SENSOR WOULD INTERMITTENTLY GO OFF--SIGNALING THE AIRBAG HAD BEEN DISABLED (AS IF A CHILD WAS IN THE SEAT). THIS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES DURING A DRIVE, AND DID NOT SEEM TO CORRECT ITSELF. *TR
AFTER ABOUT 1 MILE OF DRIVING, THERE WAS A SMALL EXPLOSION HEARD UNDER THE CENTER CONSOLE DIRECTLY UNDER THE SHIFT CONSOLE. FIRE STARTED COMING OUT FROM THE SHIFT CONSOLE. BURNED UP CENTER SHIFTER CONSOLE AND CARPET SURROUNDING AREA. *TR
WHEN AN ADULT IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WILL OCCASIONALLY LIGHT UP INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG HAS TURNED ITSELF OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG TURNS ON AND OFF WITH A PASSENGER (WEIGHING OVER 120 LBS.) SEATED WITH THE SEAT BELT FASTENED AND THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THE AIRBAG SHOWS OFF AT TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED IF THE PASSENGER IS ALREADY SEATED WITH THEIR SEATBELT FASTENED. EVEN TAKING THE SEATBELT OFF AND GETTING UP DOES NOT SEEM TO MAKE THE LIGHT GO OFF. OUR NISSAN SERVICE CENTER EXPLAINED TO ME THAT NISSAN NORTH AMERICA IS AWARE OF THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM, BUT SINCE NO RESOLUTION/FIX HAS BEEN DETERMINED, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ALSO VERIFIED THAT IF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON, THE AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK! THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT I SHOULD NOT ALLOW ANYONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. AFTER THREE SEPARATE ATTEMPTS TO GET THE PASSENGER AIRBAG FIXED WITHOUT SUCCESS AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUING I SUBMITTED THE MOTOR VEHICLE DEFECT NOTIFICATION FORM TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC. WHEN I SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED, ABOUT 90% OF THE TIME....IT MAY GO OFF AT SOME POINT, BUT EVEN WITH 110 ADULT IT IS ON SO THAT THE AIRBAG IS NOT ACTIVE. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OFF WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON DURING DRIVE WHILE ~120LBS ADULT IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. SOMETIMES TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING FIXES THE ISSUES. OTHER TIMES REQUESTING THE PASSENGER TO GET UP AND SIT DOWN FAST FIXES THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY. PROBLEMS REPRODUCED MANY TIMES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON PASSENGER SIDE DISPLAYS WITH A PERSON WEIGHING 120 POUNDS, INDICATING AIR BAG WILL NOT BE FUNCTIONAL IN A CRASH. DEALER SAID THEY HAVEN'T BEEN NOTIFIED OF A RECALL. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DOES NOT ACTIVATE WITH MY WIFE IN THE SEAT. SHE IS WELL OVER THE 80 POUND LIMIT FOR ACTIVATION. SEAT WAS CHANGED BUT DID NOT CHANGE. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THERE IS NO FIX. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. *TR
PASSENGER SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS (SRS) STATUS LIGHT WAS ON WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WITH AN ADULT PASSENGER SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES. THE SECOND (2ND) INCIDENT HAPPENED ON APRIL 2 WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH THE SRS STATUS LIGHT TURNED ON. THE LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR 30 MINUTES. THE INCIDENT WAS DOCUMENTED WITH PHOTOGRAPHS. ON APRIL 3, 2014, THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT INTO NISSAN OF BURLINGAME FOR SERVICE IN REGARDS TO THE PASSENGER SRS STATUS LIGHT OR ERROR TO THE PASSENGER SRS PROBLEM. NISSAN OF BURLINGAME FAILED TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND RETURNED THE CAR WITHOUT ANY SERVICE DONE TO THE VEHICLE. THE THIRD INCIDENT HAPPENED ON MAY 18, 2014. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT 40 MPH THE PASSENGER SRS (AIRBAG) STATUS LIGHT TURNS ON. AGAIN WAS DOCUMENTED WITH PHOTOGRAPHS AND WAS RETURNED TO NISSAN OF BURLINGAME ON MAY 20, 2014 FOR SERVICE IN REGARDS TO THE PASSENGER SRS. NISSAN OF BURLINGAME FAILED TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND RETURNED THE CAR WITHOUT ANY SERVICE/REPAIR TO THE VEHICLE IN REGARDS TO THE PASSENGER SRS INDICATOR LIGHT ERROR. FOURTH INCIDENT OCCURRED ON MAY 22, 2014 AT APPROXIMATELY 6:32PM WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT 30 MPH THE PASSENGER SRS STATUS LIGHT TURNED ON. THE SRS STATUS LIGHT REMAINS ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE INDICATOR LIGHT TURNS OFF. AGAIN, THE INCIDENT WAS DOCUMENTED WITH PHOTOGRAPHS. ON MAY 23, 2014, VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT INTO NISSAN OF BURLINGAME FOR SERVICE, BUT SERVICE ADVISOR [XXX] DENY TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE STATING THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO THE VEHICLE UNTIL FURTHER AUTHORIZATION FROM NISSAN CORPORATE USA.
