I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MURANO THAT NOT RUNNING DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION. I TOOK MT VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES COMPLAINING ABOUT NOISE, ACCELERATION ON THE GAS PEDAL OUT OF THE BLUE, SPEED DECREASING WHILE DRIVING ON HWY AT 70MPH, TO 10 OR LESS MPH. I'VE SPENT ABOUT $3000 ON A CALCULATOR CONVERSION AND EXHAUST SYSTEM, THAT I MIGHT NOT EVEN NEEDED. I HAD TO HAVE MY TRUCK TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP THAT HAS BEEN SERVICING MY TRUCK. THEY SAID MY TRANSMISSION WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. MY TRANSMISSION WAS UNDER WARRANTY WHEN THE PROBLEM BEGAN LAST YEAR, BUT THE DEALERSHIP P TECH CHOOSE TO WORD THE PROBLEMS A DIFFERENT WAY NOT TO REFLECT TRANSMISSION ISSUE. DEALERSHIP NOR NISSAN WANT TO ASSIST TO FIX MY TRUCK. I HAVE ABOUT 152,000K ON MY TRUCK NOW, BUT I HAD WAY LESS WHEN PROBLEMS BEGAN. I NEED ASSISTANCE TO GET TRUCK FIX, I'M SILL PAYING THE $9000. I OWE IN IT. NISSAN IS NOT STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE WHEN THEY KNEW THERE WERE TRANSMISSION ISSUES IN THE MURANO TRUCK. I'M VERY UNHAPPY, DISCUSSED, SAD THAT I'M TRAPPED IN A TRUCK THAT'S NOT SAFE. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. BOTH SUN VISORS HAVE FAILED AND I'M CONCERNED THAT IT IS UNSAFE. WHEN THE VEHICLES IS JARRED BOTH VISORS WILL SUDDENLY FLIP INTO THE DOWN POSITION, MOMENTARILY DISTRACTING THE DRIVER AND OBSTRUCTING VISION. I HAVE ALREADY SPOKEN TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID NISSAN IS VERY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
SUN VISOR PROBLEM: BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISORS DON'T STAY UP. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN I'M DRIVING AS IT BLOCKS/INTERFERES WITH MY VISION! IT WILL STAY UP FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, THEN FALL WHENEVER I HIT A BUMP. *TR
NORMAL EVERYDAY USAGE OF MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT. ONE DAY FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BROKE. THE SEAT IS NOW UNSAFE AND ROCKS BACK AND FORTH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A BROKEN SEAT FRAME AND COST $1056 TO REPAIR. I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE NOW BECAUSE THE SEAT IS UNSAFE. *TR
2004 NISSAN MURANO DRIVER'S SEAT IS BROKEN FROM FRAME. SEAT TILTS TO THE REAR- LEFT AND ROCKS UP AND DOWN WHEN SITTING OR PUTTING WEIGHT ON SEAT. ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS OF THE SEAT (UP/DOWN AND BACK AND FORTH) ARE WORKING. CONCERNED WITH SAFETY ISSUE NOT HAVING THE SEAT PROPERLY SECURED. SEEMS TOO MUCH MOVEMENT (ROCKING) COULD BE A DANGER IF IN A COLLISION - UNSURE IF THE SEAT AND SEAT BELT MECHANISM WILL WORK PROPERLY IF IN A CRASH. WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN DEALER FOR REPAIR. DON'T KNOW REPLACEMENT COSTS. *TR
1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. 3. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. THIS SHOULDN'T BE, NISSAN SHOULD RECALL THEM. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME TILL SOMEONE GETS ROBBED, HURT OR KILLED FROM A MALFUNCTIONING DOOR LOCK. *TR
SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION. HAVE REPLACED IT ONCE AND THE SECOND MODEL HAS FAILED AS WELL.*CW
I OWN A 2004 NISSAN MURANO SL AND HAVE HAD TROUBLES WITH VEHICLE HESITATION FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW. IT SEEMS TO BE MOST PRESENT WHEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE IS WARM. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10MINS OF STOP AND GO, THE GAS PEDAL DOES NOT RESPOND FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LUNGES FORWARD AGGRESSIVELY PRESENTING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THIS BUT NUMEROUS REPORTS ON THE INTERNET POINT TO A VALVE BODY MALFUNCTION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR FELL DOWN AND MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR HIM TO SEE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VISOR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MILEAGE WAS 80000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100000.
THE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT FALLS DOWN, CONSTANTLY AND BLOCKS MY HUSBAND'S VIEW (HE IS TALLER). IT DOESN'T BLOCK MY VIEW, BUT IS STARTLING WHEN IT DROPS DOWN AND IT DOES RESTRICT MY FIELD OF VISION. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT IS A $300 + REPLACEMENT. I HAVE READ SEVERAL DIFFERENT FORUMS CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM AND THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVE REPLACED THE SAME PART MORE THAN ONCE. *TR
2004 NISSAN MURANO SL. SUN VISOR FALL DOWN AND WON'T STAY IN THE "UP" POSITION. WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR WILL "FALL" BLOCKING THE DRIVERS VIEW. THE VISOR EITHER NEEDS TO BE HELD IN THE UP POSITION, OR TURNED TO THE SIDE TO KEEP FROM BLOCKING VIEW FORWARD, BUT WITH VISOR TURNED TO THE SIDE IT BLOCKS THE SIDE VIEW. THIS HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED AS OF YET DUE TO A NEW VISOR COSTING OVER 320.00. I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SEEN ON SEVERAL FORUMS WHERE THIS IS A VERY COMMON AND UNSAFE PROBLEM. *TR
PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK COMPLETELY. IF YOU USE THE POWER LOCK FEATURE, THE LOCK WILL REMAIN IN THE SAME POSITION IT WAS. YOU MUST MANUALLY LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOOR, WHICH EXPOSES A HUGE SAFETY RISK AS THERE IS ONLY ONE KEY-HOLE ON CAR. TO OPEN A PASSENGER DOOR, YOU MUST UNLOCK THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND WALK AROUND THE VEHICLE EXPOSING THE DRIVER TO UNNECESSARY SAFETY ISSUES. *TR
NISSAN MURANO CVT TRANSMISSION CAUSES DELAYED ACCELERATION. AFTER 65,000 MILES THE VEHICLE DID NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPOND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED. IT WOULD INCH FORWARD THEN SURGE. AT ONE TIME I BARELY AVOIDED A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR; THEN SUDDENLY SHOT FORWARD A COUPLE SECONDS LATER ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION FROM THE DELAY. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION; BUT I NOTED THAT THERE WAS NOT A RISE IN RPM'S WHEN IT DID NOT ACCELERATE AS WOULD BE THE CASE IF IT WAS SLIPPING. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THAT THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY THE SOLENOID SWITCH THAT KEEPS THE ENGINE FROM REVVING WHEN THERE IS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. AFTER CHECKING ON THE INTERNET I FOUND WEB SITES WITH MANY PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM. MANY SAID THEY FOUND IT WAS THE SWITCH GETTING DIRTY AND THEN SHUTTING DOWN THE RPMS. I TRIED A TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE AND IT SOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 30,000 MILES THEN STARTING DOING IT AGAIN. I CHANGED AGAIN AND IT IS ONCE AGAIN RESOLVED. BESIDES THE FACT THAT NISSAN HAS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE HERE THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS. WHEN YOU STEP DOWN ON THE GAS AND THERE IS A DELAY IT CAUSES YOU TO DIVERT YOUR ATTENTION FROM DRIVING; TYPICALLY YOU AUTOMATICALLY PUMP THE GAS AGAIN. THEN THE SUDDEN SURGE FORWARD IS UNEXPECTED AND MAY PUT YOU IN A PLACE YOU DID NOT NOW (AFTER THE DELAY) WANT TO BE; ESPECIALLY IF MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. *TR
I HAVE HAD A PROBLEMS WITH THE CAM SENSORS GOING BAD 3 TIMES ON MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO , WHICH HAVE LED TO MY CAR STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC...... *TR
NISSAN MURANO 2004 LOUD NOISE FROM ENGINE TOOK IT AND FOUND OUT 2 ENGINE MOUNTS CRACKED. HAD TO REPLACE COST ABOUT $700. THEN CAR STARTS TO JERK WHEN PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL AND CARS STALL WHILE DRIVING. TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER , DEALER SAID IT IS THE CAM SENSOR AND THE CRANK SENSOR. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND DEFECT THAT I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR AND A LOT OF NISSAN MURANO OWNERS HAVE HAD IT AS WELL. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE SEAT ROCKING AND SLIDING. IT SEEMS THAT THESE SEATS WERE NOT MADE RIGHT OR HAVE HAD POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BEING THE FACT THAT IN AN ACCIDENT THE DRIVER COULD FLY OUT THE WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE NEGLIGENCE TO PROPERLY FIX THIS PROBLEM.....THIS CAN CAUSE MAJOR INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH................ *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR FALLS DOWN WITHOUT WARNING BLOCKING THE DRIVERS VISION. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. THE DEALER WANTS $400. TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE VISOR. I CURRENTLY USE VELCRO TO SECURE IT. BUT THIS DOESN'T WORK VERY WELL. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON 2003-2006 NISSAN MURANOS AND SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL TO CORRECT THE ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO DOWN A BUSY STREET WITH NO SHOULDER AND I HAD A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT HIT BY ANY CARS. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. TOTAL COST: OVER $6000.00 I DO NOT HAVE $6000.00 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE BAND IN THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED AND CAN NOT BE REPLACED. I HAVE ONLY 85,000 MILES ON THE MURANO. THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT ON '03 AND '04 MURANOS AND NISSAN DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AND WILL NOT WORK WITH ME TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. *TR
TWO MAIN PROBLEMS WITH MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO.... BIGGEST IS BRAKE PROBLEMS. BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND THERE IS STILL A NOISE WHEN BRAKING ALONG WITH BAD VIBRATION WHEN SLOWING DOWN. THE VIBRATION CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. ALSO, THERE IS A CLINKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE WHEN TAKING OFF AT SLOW SPEEDS. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE MOTOR IS GOING TO DROP. THIS HAS BEEN TO EXPENSIVE TO FIX, SO I CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT AS IS. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE QUALITY OF THIS VEHICLE. MANY REPAIRS INCLUDING SMALL THAT AREN'T WORTH HAVING THE VEHICLE. NO DEALER WANTS TO TAKE AS TRADE IN. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR SUDDENLY DROPS, COMPLETELY OBSCURING VIEW OF THE ROAD. WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE. NOW I HAVE TO HOLD IT UP WITH MY HAND WHILE DRIVING. *TR
THE CVT TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN MY 2004 MURANO WITH 70,000. PRIOR TO IT GOING OUT I WAS EXPERIMENTING UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION FROM THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR ONLY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE BEFORE SLOWING DOWN. *TR
THE DRIVERS SEAT ELECTRICAL SLIDE FAILED. IT LOCKED UP AND THEN BROKE LOOSE. IT WILL NO LONGER OPERATE AND IS IN A FIXED POSITION ON ONE TRACK. THE OTHER TRACK IS MOVING FREELY AND WILL NOT LOCK. THE PLASTIC GEARS STRIPPED AND BROKE. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FLOOR FRAME ON ONE SIDE. THE ELECTRIC MECHANISM TO MOVE THE SEAT STILL WORKS, BUT THE WHOLE SEAT APPEARS LOOSE. AT FIRST IT FELT LIKE ONLY A LOOSE BOLT, AND WE HAD TAKEN IT REPEATEDLY TO A DEALER. I WAS RECENTLY TOLD THE ENTIRE SEAT MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED, AS THERE WAS NOW A 'BREAK' IN THE WELDING OF THE SEAT TO THE SEAT FRAME ON THE FLOOR. THIS WAS NOT CAUSED BY ANY ACTION OF THE OWNERS NOR DUE TO PRIOR ACCIDENT. IT APPEARS THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRENT PROBLEM FOR THESE MURANO'S, AS I HAVE SEEN CONSUMER WEB SITES REPORTING THIS BASED ON OTHER OWNER'S COMPLAINTS, WHICH IS WHY I DECIDED TO REPORT IT AS WELL. I WAS GLAD TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE REPETITIVE NATURE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER OWNERS (I CONDUCTED MY OWN INTERNET SEARCH) OR I MAY NEVER HAVE REPORTED THIS. I AM CONCERNED THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE CAR IS IN AN ACCIDENT. IT WILL NEED TO BE FIXED NOW, BUT I UNDERSTAND NISSAN HAS REPLACED SOME OF THEM FOR OTHER OWNERS AND I AM EXPLORING THIS OPTION. NOTE - MILEAGE AND DATE ENTRIES ABOVE ARE JUST ESTIMATES. I COULD ONLY FIND ONE OLD REPAIR INVOICE WITH THIS ISSUE MENTIONED ALTHOUGH I HAD ASKED THEM TO CHECK IT MANY TIMES. PERHAPS THE DEALER KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM AND CHOSE NOT TO PUT IT ON THE WORK ORDER. I'M AFRAID I HAVE ALSO LEARNED A LESSON TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING THEY CHECK IS ENTERED ON THE WORK ORDER, AND TO READ MY WORK ORDERS MORE CLOSELY, ESPECIALLY WITH DEALERS WHO HAVE VESTED INTEREST RELATED TO RECALLS. *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES WITH THE AGE OF THE CAR BEING APPROXIMATELY FIVE (5) YEARS OLD THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK OR LOCK WHEN THE REMOTE ACTUATOR WAS USED. THIS GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND THEN LESS THAN A YEAR LATER THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING. NOW NEITHER ONE OF THESE DOORS WILL WORK CORRECTLY AND OFTEN LOCK ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT THE REMOTE ACTUATOR OR THE INTERNAL MANUAL LOCKING SYSTEM BEING USED. THIS HAS SPREAD TO THE REAR DOORS TOO BUT ONLY INTERMITTENTLY AT THIS TIME. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THAT MANY MANY OWNERS OF A NISSAN MURANO OF ALMOST EVERY MODEL YEAR EVENTUALLY EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM. THIS CREATES A SAFETY PROBLEM SHOULD ENTRY INTO THE VEHICLE OR EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION BE REQUIRED BECAUSE THE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK FROM THE OUTSIDE WITHOUT A KEY AND THE ONLY DOOR THAT HAS A KEY SLOT IS THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR. IF THE KEY'S IN THE IGNITION HOW WOULD ANYONE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE GET THE DOORS OPEN IN AN EMERGENCY? THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED A FEW YEARS AGO IN AUSTRALIA FOR THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM ON A DIFFERENT NISSAN MODEL VEHICLE. IF THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE THERE AND WAS ACKNOWLEDGED BY NISSAN TO BE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO RESOLVE I CANNOT HELP BUT ASK "WHY ISN'T THIS BEING TAKEN CARE OF HERE IN THE USA BY NISSAN?" NISSAN AND THEIR DEALERS HAVE KNOWN OF THIS SAFETY PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND QUOTE BETWEEN $400 AND $500 TO FIX JUST ONE DOOR. MANY OWNERS REPORT VIA THE INTERNET THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS ON AT LEAST 2 DOORS AND SOME REPORT ALL 4 DOORS INCLUDING THE REAR LIFT GATE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM AND PROTECT THE OWNERS AND OCCUPANTS OF THESE VEHICLES. *TR
THE LOCKING MECHANISM FOR THE FUEL DOOR WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. SEVERAL TIMES WE'VE BEEN UNABLE TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE. *TR
FRONT DRIVERS SEAT ADJUSTER FRAME BREAKS. CAUSES SEAT TO BECOME LOOSE FROM FLOOR. *TR
AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN DRIVER SEAT BROKE OFF THE LEFT TRACK CAUSING THE SEAT TO ROCK DANGEROUSLY. THIS SEEMS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS VEHICLE I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD ABOUT MANY OTHER CASES. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TEMPORARILY FIX THIS PROBLEM BY WELDING THE TRACK, HOWEVER THIS KEEPS HAPPENING AND HAS BECOME A DANGER TO MY LIFE. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS PROBLEM COULD BE FIXED ANY MORE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TO A FAMILY FUNCTION (20 MILES, MIXED HIGHWAY AND LOCAL) HEARD A SLIGHT NOISE FOLLOWED BY A SOUND LIKE A TIRE GOING FLAT. SLOWED TO CHECK TIRES, WHEN NOISE STOPPED. CONTINUED TO DESTINATION WITHOUT ANOTHER OCCURRENCE. CAR SAT FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS, THEN WE RETURNED HOME, AGAIN MIXED HIGHWAY AND LOCAL ROADS. NO NOISES OR INDICATOR LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD. UPON EXITING HIGHWAY, HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG FROM THE FRONT END, SIMILAR TO DRIVING THROUGH A DEEP POTHOLE. THERE WERE NO POTHOLES ON THE HIGHWAY RAMP. LIMPED TO HOME (APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE FROM END OF RAMP), CAR WAS SMOKING AND THERE WAS SOME NOISE FROM FRONT END, BUT IT COULD STILL BE DRIVEN. UPON ARRIVING HOME, SAW THAT THE CAR WAS LEAKING CLEAR FLUID FROM THE FRONT CENTER-RIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. HAD CAR FLAT BEDDED TO LOCAL SERVICE SHOP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. LOCAL SERVICE SHOP COULD NOT REPAIR. FLAT BEDDED TO NISSAN DEALER. NISSAN INDICATED THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL HAD FAILED, AND NISSAN IS THE ONLY SOURCE FOR THIS PART. CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN 70,000 MILES. DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY 60,000. COST OF REPAIR $3,800. CAR HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED. CAR HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN ON HIGHWAYS AND LOCAL ROADS. IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS FOR A MAJOR DRIVE TRAIN COMPONENT TO FAIL CATASTROPHICALLY ON A VEHICLE THAT IS DRIVEN GENTLY AND WELL CARED FOR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING (AT 65 MPH!) THE LEFT REAR ANCHOR BRACKET OF THE DRIVERS SEAT SUDDENLY BROKE CAUSING THE SEAT TO COLLAPSE AND BECOME UNSTABLE. I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO REMAIN IN CONTROL OF THE CAR AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. AS A RESULT OF THIS BROKEN BRACKET, MY SEAT ROCKS SEVERELY WHEN I TURN CORNERS AND SOMETIMES WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. I HAVE NOT HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AS OF YET BUT I DO FIND BY RESEARCHING THAT THIS ISSUE IS QUITE COMMON (SERVICE BULLETINS HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY NISSAN AND YOU) AND THE REPAIR COSTLY. UNTIL I HEAR FROM YOU, I WILL FIX FOR THE TIME BEING BY INSTALLING SOME WOODEN BLOCKS UNDER MY SEAT TO STABILIZE IT. AGAIN, I URGE YOU TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

NISSAN RECALL FOR 2004 MURANO AIR INTAKE SYSTEM. *NJ THE CONSUMER'S CHILDREN WERE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. WHEN THEY PULLED OUT OF A BUSY PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. ALSO THE DOOR LATCHES AND HATCH WERE INOPERATIVE. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS THE RESULT OF THE RECALL.
I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK HAS QUIT WORKING. ACCORDING TO LOTS OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER NISSAN OWNERS, THIS COMPLAINT HAS BECOME TOO COMMON. PULLED OVER TO CHECK THE SEAT, AND NOTICED THE SEAT WAS LOOSE, HARDLY MADE ANY FORCE TO MOVE OR WIGGLE IT BACK & FORTH OR SIDE TO SIDE. IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A LOOSE "BAR" OR PIECE OF METAL. WENT TO MY USUAL NISSAN SERVICE CENTER TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE PROBLEM/BROKEN PART AND FOUND OUT THE BROKEN PART IS THE BACK CROSSBAR OF THE SEAT LIFTER LINK SLIDE ASSEMBLY. IT ACTUALLY DETACHED FROM THE WELDING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT. MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY AS IT EXPIRED ABOUT A YEAR OR SO AND THE SERVICE CENTER WILL NOT REPLACE WITH OUT A COST AND A NEW ASSEMBLY. IT WILL SELL THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY THOUGH, WHICH I DO NOT INTEND ON PAYING SINCE I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN/MANUFACTURING FAILURE AND NEEDLESS TO SAY A SAFETY ISSUE. FAILURE OF THE POWER SEAT DRIVE. DRIVER'S SEAT SEEMED TO BE LOPSIDED, HIGH ON THE LEFT SIDE OF IT. NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH SEAT SEVERELY ASKEW TO THE RIGHT AND SEAT COULD NOT BE PROPERLY ADJUSTED. REPAIR WILL COST ABOUT $850 PLUS TAX. ALL FOR THE SAKE OF A POORLY DESIGNED, OVERWORKED SMALL PLASTIC GEAR. *TR

THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS AND IT IS BEYOND DANGEROUS. THE LEFT FRONT OF THE SEAT BARELY HANGS ON AS THE BOLTS ARE BROKEN IN THE BACK.
