FROM TIME TO TIME THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY STALLS. ENGINE DOES NOT DIE BUT POWER TO TRANSMISSION IS LOST. VEHICLE WILL NOT REV UNLESS IT IS PUT INTO PARK OR NEUTERAL. WHEN TRANSMISSION IS ENGAGED STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR PRODUCES NO RPMS. VEHICLE COSTS TO SIDE OF ROAD AND PROBLEM IS SOMETIMES REMIDIED WITH SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING OTHER TIMES I HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE I HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING, I HAVE HAD SEVERAL RECENT TIMES WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR COMPLETELY DIES AND YOU LOSE ALL POWER, VERY UNSAFE AS POWER STEERING IS LOST. I HAVE READ THIS ONLINE WHERE OTHER OWNERS HAVE THIS ISSUE SO THERE HAS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE CHECKED THE BATTERY, CABLES, REPLACED SENSORS, AND FUEL PUMP SO THIS HAS TO BE SOMETHING ELSE. MY CAR IS A 2007 MURANO SL WITH 150,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START UNTIL IT WAS REFILLED WITH FUEL. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
HAD NOTICED THAT THE GAS GAUGE READ EMPTY AND THE FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD JUST PUT GAS IN THE VECHICLE 2 DAYS BEFORE. I LOOKED FOR A LEAK AND THERE WAS NOTHING NOTICABLE. I FILLED THE TANK, RETURNED TO THE CAR TO CHECK THE GAUGE AND NOTICED THAT IT READ 3/4. I STARTED DRIVING AND AS I WAS DRIVING IT FLUCTUATED BETWEEM FULL AND 3/4. I TALKED TO MY WIFE ABOUT THE ISSUE AND SHE HAD NOTICED THAT THE GAS GAUGE HAD BEEN READING INACCURATELY THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS. *TR

THE FUEL GAUGE/SENSOR IS NOT READING PROPERLY. IT WILL SHOW THE TANK AS EMPTY EVEN WHEN IT IS NOT. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT NISSAN DIRECTLY, HOWEVER THEY WILL NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE THREE OTHER MODELS OF CAR THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED FROM THE SAME YEAR DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY HAVE ALSO ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE BUT REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING TO REMEDY IT ON MY VEHICLE. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON CONSTANTLY SO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC WHO TELLS ME THAT NISSAN HAS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH ITS FUEL SENSORS FOR YEARS AND YEARS ON MANY OF ITS MODELS AND HAS IGNORED IT. NOW I'M REQUIRED TO MAKE THE REPAIRS ON A FAULTY PART TO THE TUNE OF $655 BECAUSE MY CAR WON'T PASS INSPECTION OTHERWISE. NISSAN HAS PUT OUT A SERVICE BULLETIN (NTB07-069A) FOR CODE P0463 BUT WON'T HELP AT ALL WITH THIS OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND MY WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER REPAIRS EITHER. FAULKNER NISSAN, HARRISBURG, PA SOUNDED LIKE I WAS THE 100TH PERSON CALLING ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. I AM SINGLE MOTHER, WORKING FULL TIME, SAVING TO SEND A DAUGHTER TO COLLEGE. I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY NISSAN MURANO KNOWING IT IS VITAL TO MY ABILITY TO PROVIDE FOR MY FAMILY. 2007 NISSAN MURANO. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH FUEL METER RESULTING IN FAULTY READING OF THE FUEL LEVEL. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL METER DID NOT SHOW THE CORRECT FUEL LEVEL, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE CONSUMER STARTED EXPERIENCING STATIC IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THE VEHICLE WAS FIXED, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM FOUR ADDITIONAL TIMES. EACH TIME THE CONSUMER WENT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE FUEL METER AND OTHER RELATED PARTS. *JB
I WAS ON HWY 10 TRAVELING FROM HOUSTON TO NM, HEADED WEST JUST PAST EXIST 138 IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I HAS JUST FINISHED FUELING UP MY VEHICLE AND WAS BACK ON THE HWY. I RAN OVER SMALL OBJECT IN THE ROAD THAT CAUSED A PUNCTURE IN THE BACK OF THE FUEL TANK. I WAS SIGNALED BY PASSING CALL TO PULLOVER IMMEDIATELY AS THERE WAS FUEL WAS POURING OUT OF THE VEHICLE , MAKING IT AN EXTREME FIRE HAZARD & UNDRIVEABLE. I WAS FOLLOWING BEHIND MY BOYFRIEND DURING THIS INCIDENT WHO ALSO RAN OVER THIS SAME OBJECT AND NOTHING HAPPENED TO HIS VEHICLE (BMW). I CALLED NISSAN THE NEXT DAY ( I HAVE REFERENCE # ) & I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR 2007 REGARDING FUEL TANK PUNCTURE PROBLEMS .HE SAID THIS WAS A PROBLEM FOR THE PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS AND NOT MY MODEL YEAR. THE FUEL TANK DOES APPEAR HOWEVER TO BE EXPOSED AND APPEARS TO BE PRONE TO THIS PROBLEM . THERE ARE APPROX 17500 MILES ON THIS 2007 MURANO. THE FUEL TANK WAS PATCHED THE NEXT DAY, AND THE SUV DRIVEN TO IT'S DESTINATION WITHOUT INCIDENT, AND PARKED UNTIL IT COULD BE TOWED BY THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. A NEW FUEL TANK WILL BE USED TO REPLACE THE DAMAGED ONE. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED AND I SHOULD CONTACT MY INSURANCE. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN . THIS WAS THE 1ST TIME FOR THIS VEHICLE TO BE DRIVEN ON THE HWY AS IT WAS ONLY DRIVEN LOCALLY ON CITY STREETS PRIOR. ON DECEMBER 22, 2007, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH IN COLD WEATHER, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN TRAFFIC. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED, BUT THEN STALLED AGAIN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. ON JANUARY 9, 2008, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH IN DRY CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD AND THREW THE CONTACT INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT BRUISED HER CHEST. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DIMMED AND THE RADIO SHUT OFF TEMPORARILY. THE VEHICLE CONTINUALLY LOST POWER AND WOULD ONLY SHIFT INTO LOW GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP ON JANUARY 11, 2008. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND SHE SMELLED A STRANGE ODOR. THE FUEL GAUGE WENT FROM THREE QUARTERS OF A TANK TO A FULL TANK. THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO DISPLAY INACCURATE READINGS AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER ON JANUARY 20, 2008 AND THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILED AGAIN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,900 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,200.
