I HAVE HAD TWO INCIDENTS OF SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE AT LOW SPEEDS. WITH FOOT ON BRAKE REAR TIRES SPUN AND WHEN PLACED IN NEUTRAL ENGINE REVED TO 4500 RMPS FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL. SECOND INCIDENT RESULTED IN VEHICLE GOING THROUGH RED LIGHT AT INTERSECTION WITH A NEAR COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. VEHICLE INSPECTED BY DEALER WHO CLAIMS THEY CANNOT "DUPLICATE PROBLEM." CONSUMER REP. FOR NISSAN SAID THAT THEY WOULD DO NOTHING ELSE UNLESS THE AUTO IS IN AN ACCIDENT.*AK
CONSUMER STATED AS HE WAS EXITING A PARKING LOT AND UPON APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE REQUIRING CONSUMER TO PRESS HARD ON THE BRAKE TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM JUMPING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, AS CONSUMER HELD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE REAR TIRES BEGAN TO SPIN IN A CONTINUOUS ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FOWARD, CONSUMER THEN PLACED THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL, AND NOTICED THE TACHOMETER WAS INDICATING THE ENGINE SPEED AT OVER 4000 RPMS, AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF PLACING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE RETURNED TO A NORMAL IDLE SPEED.*JB
WHILE DRIVING AND MOVING A LOAD OF FURNITURE CONSUMER ENCOUNTERED AN ODD STENCH. SMELL WORSENED AS CONSUMER BEGAN TO SUFFOCATE WITH THE AIRBORN SUSBSTANCE-WITH THE WINDOW OPENED. CONSUMER PULLED INTO A NEARBY GAS STATION WHERE HE FOUND THAT THE BACK OF VEHICLE WAS IN FLAMES, WITH THE FIRE SPREADING INTO DANGEROUS PLACES WITHIN VEHICLE. CONSUMER SUSPECTED THAT LIGHT MIGHT HAVE SWITCHED ON FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON, CAUSING THE EXPLOSION OF LIGHT WITH HEAT BUILDUP. *SCC . *AK
WHILE DRIVING A SMELL BEGAN TO SUFFOCATE THE CONSUMER, AND IMPAIRED HIS/HER VISION AS THE SMOKE DIFFUSED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. MR THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER AND THEN NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER DISTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND INSPECTED THE AREA AND NOTICED THE INTERIOR LIGHT WAS DAMAGED. WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND RAN UP A CURB AND INTO A BUILDING. *AK DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. *TT
DEALER HAS TREATED SYMPTOM; NOT CAUSE OF FAILURE. NO SAFWETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
AFTER A ROUTINE TIRE ROTATION, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE FROM SIDE TO SIDE DURING SPEEDS OF 35-40 AND AGAIN AT 50-65. STEERING RACK REPLACED, REAR DIFF REPLACED, TIRES REPLACED, TIRES BALANCED, DRIVE SHAFT REPLACED. NOW VEHICLE HAS A EXCESSIVE VIBRATION A SPEEDS OF 30-35, AND AGAIN AT 50-60. CAUSES NUMBNESS AND TINGLING IN HANDS AND NOTED ON FEET. IT IS NOT JUST THE WHEEL THAT VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY, IT CAN BE FELT ON THE SHIFTER AND DOWN BY THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FOOT WELL.
WHEN APPLYING ABSBRAKES THEY DO NOT ENGAGE. CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER HAS YET TO BEE CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
2000 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH MULTIPLE FRONT END PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE DEALER REPLACED THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR AND DID NOT REPACK THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS. THEN THE FUEL INJECTOR MADE THE VEHICLE SHAKE. *KB THE WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING, THE CRANK SHAFT PULLEY WAS LOOSE AND THE FRONT WHEELS WERE LOOSE.
I AM LOOKING FOR ANY INFORMATION REGARDING 2000 PATHFINDERS LOSSING CONTROL OF STEERING AT ANY SPEED OR CONDITIONS, OR DIRECTION TO FIND THIS INFORMATION. I AM NOT THE OWNER OF THE SUV, I AM A FAMILY MEMBER OF A PERSON THAT LOST HIS LIFE IN A CRASH WHILE DRIVING A PATHFINDER. I AM LOOKING FOR A REASON FOR THIS CRASH, AUTOPYS SHOWED NO MEDICAL REASON FOR CRASH AND HE WAS IN GOOD HEALTH, DRIVING CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR AND WARM TEMP. ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL. ANTI- LOCK BRAKES ARE NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY ON WET PAVEMENT. UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, ANTI- LOCK SENSORS ACTIVATE, CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BECOME VERY HARD, AND RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT DETERMINED. *AK
