MY BOSE CD CHANGER IN MY 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER HASN'T BEEN WORKING IN A COUPLE OF YEARS. IT COMES UP WITH AN ERR2 MESSAGE. I KNOW IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL AND NISSAN HAS NOT RESPONDED TO ANY COMPLAINTS I'VE HAD ABOUT THIS. *TR

THE CAR WOBBLES BACK AND FORTH LIKE RIDING A BOAT IN RUFF WATERS. THIS IS A STRUCTURAL ISSUE AND 2 DIFFERENT AUTO REPAIR MEN HAVE NOT YET FIGURED OUT WHAT IS CAUSING IT. *TR
GASOLINE HAS BEEN LEAKING FROM THE GAS TUBE ON MY 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER FOR TWO YEARS. I CONTACTED THE DEALER SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND ASKED THEM ABOUT THE RECALL. THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT. I THEN NOTIFIED THEM OF THE RECALL AND DIRECTED TO THE WEBSITE. I'M TIRED OF THE SMELL OF GASOLINE, GAS ON MY DRIVEWAY AND LAWN AND POLLUTING MY LAKE. I WANT TO KNOW WHEN I WILL RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE AND REPAIR. WE HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH FOR NISSAN TO ACT AND IGNORE THE NHTSA RECALL AND IGNORE POTENTIAL HAZARDS TO NISSAN VEHICLE OWNERS. *TR
CD PLAYER IN 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY, IT WILL ONLY CLICK. I HAVE DISCOVERED FROM THE INTERNET NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT AUDIO COMPONENTS.*JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS STATE INSPECTION THE VEHICLE FAILED EMISSIONS TESTING DUE TO A FAULTY REAR OXYGEN SENSOR. THE INSPECTION SITE PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT PRODUCED THIS CODE. THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN NHTSA ITEM 628220 CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SEEN BY A DEALER OR REPAIR SHOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS TO LET THE CONTACT KNOW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM. *AK UPDATED 03/09/06. *JB
FACTORY CD CHANGER FOR 2001 PATHFINDER LE BECOMES JAMMED, WILL NOT PLAY CDS OR EJECT THEM, SHOWS AN ERROR CODE OF ERR2. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND OUT THAT THE UNIT IS MANUFACTURED BY CLARION AND THAT MANY OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED A NISSAN DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE UNIT COULD BE REPAIRED FOR $230 PLUS LABOR AND THAT THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE. SOME CUSTOMERS HAVE REPORTED THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AFTER THE UNIT WAS REPAIRED AND/OR REPLACED. SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, NISSAN REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I'M NOT SURE IF ANYTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS, BUT FEEL IT IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE RESEARCHED AND THAT NISSAN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON.*JB
CD CHANGER SYSTEM NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL IN VEHICLE, REPORTED TO NISSAN AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST. ERR2 OR ERR3 MESSAGE WHEN TRYING TO PLAY ANY CD, BOSE HEAD UNIT SEEMS TO WORK FINE, PROBLEM IS LIMITED TO THE CLARION 6-DISC CHANGER COMPONENT. OTHES HAVE REPORTED THIS SAME ISSUE, NISSAN NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION OR FACE LOSING BRAND LOYAL CUSTOMERS. *NM
THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER. SHE STATED THAT THE MOTOR ON HER DRIVER'S SEAT THAT MAKES THE SEAT GO FORWARD AND BACK NO LONGER WORKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANTED TO INSTALL A KIT THAT WILL "WAKE UP THE MOTOR" TO MAKE THE SEAT GO FORWARD AND BACK AND THAT THIS WAS THE RECOMMENDED FIX. *TT NISSAN'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THERE ARE FOUR MOTORS THAT CONTROL THE DRIVER'S SEAT. ONLY THE MOTOR THAT CONTROLS THE FORWARD AND BACKWARD MOVEMENT FALLS ASLEEP. THIS PROBLEM WOULD HAPPEN FREQUENTLY ON LOWER MILEAGE VEHICLE'S THAT ARE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *SC *JB
THE CD CHANGER IN THE NISSAN PATHFINDER 2001 HAS INHERENT DEFECT. IT APPEARS THAT THE MECHANISM INSIDE FAILS NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF REPAIR IT GOES THROUGH. I CONTACTED BOTH NISSAN AND BOSE AND NO ASSISTANCE WHAT SO EVER. *NM
THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO MY 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE 6-CD IN-DASH CHANGER DOES NOT WORK. IT MAKES A CLICKING SOUND WHEN YOU TRY TO PLAY A CD AND DISPLAYS "ERR2" ON THE SCREEN. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHER NISSAN OWNERS HAVE THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE CD CHANGER IS RENDERED USELESS ONCE THIS HAPPENS. *JB
MY COMPLAINT IS QUITE THE SAME AS I CAN SEE ALL READY LISTED ON THIS SITE. I HAVE A 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER WHICH I PURCHASED IN 2004. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY SWAY BAR WHICH NO ONE ESPECIALLY THE DEALER KNOWS HOW IT GOT BENT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY 6CD BOSE CHANGER ALSO SHUT DOWN ON ME IN 2007 JUST STOP WORKING AND NOT EJECTING CDS AND DOING A CLICK CLICK NOISE ALL THE TIME I HAVE TWO CDS IN THERE I CAN NOT REMOVE OR GET OUT. ACCORDING TO NISSAN THEY DON'T HANDLE THESE ISSUES AND DO NOT FIX THEM THEY REPLACE THE WHOLE CD CHANGER FOR $700-$800. THIS IS A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM AND ISSUE WITH THEM AND THEIR SISTER COMPANIES WITH THE BOSE SYSTEM THE VEHICLES ARE PROVIDED WITH WHEN YOU PURCHASE THEM. YOU DO NOT ORDER THE SYSTEM IT COMES WITH THE VEHICLE BUT THEY WONT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY NOR FIX IT. I ALSO HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM AND TOOK TO A MECHANIC WHOM STATED WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CODE ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND HAD TO TAKE TO NISSAN BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT TOUCH THE VEHICLE AND WAS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BEING UNDER 80,000. QUOTE PER NISSAN ALL IT WAS IS AN ELECTRICAL COMPUTER UPGRADE CODE. NEEDED TO UPGRADE MY ELECTRICAL COMPUTER SOFTWARE?????? THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN WENT OFF WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND THEN CAME BACK ON AND STAYED ON AND NEVER SHUT OFF UNTIL NISSAN REPROGRAMMED THE SYSTEM. I ALSO HAD MY MUFFLER FALL COMPLETELY OFF FROM THE BACK END UP UNTIL THE MIDDLE PART. WAS TOTALLY RUSTED AND CAME RIGHT OFF AND OF COURSE IT FELL OFF RIGHT AFTER NISSAN PASSED ME FOR MY INSPECTION W/ EMISSIONS 30 DAYS PRIOR??? I SEE ALL THESE COMPLAINTS AND FOR YEARS AND NOTHING BEING DONE NOR ARE THEY TAKING CARE OF ANYTHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY REPETITIOUS ON THE SITE ALL THE SAME COMMON COMPLAINTS BUT YET NISSAN NOT DOING ANYTHING NOR THIS SITE TO HELP US CONSUMERS AND HAVE NISSAN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL OF THIS. *TR

2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE HAD PROBLEMS WITH AIR BAGS AND SEAT EQUIPMENT DURING A MAJOR ACCIDENT.*MR PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THE CONSUMER PURCHASED AN AFTER MARKET WESTIN SAFARI LIGHT BAR, THE INSTALLATION OF THE BAR CAUSED THE AIR BAGS NOT TO DEPLOY. IT APPEARED THE WESTIN BAR PREVENTED THE SENSORS BEHIND THE FRONT BUMPER FROM BEING DEPRESSED IN ORDER TO ACTIVATE THE AIR BAGS. *JB
I HAVE A 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER 4X4 SE. FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS NOW I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH THE HANDLING OF THIS TRUCK. THE CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE EXTREMELY HARD BETWEEN 55 - 65 MPH. THE SHAKING IS SO BAD IT IS SOMETIMES DIFFICULT TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE STEERING BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES JUST AS MUCH. I HAVE SEEN THAT IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE GONE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. THEY TOLD ME IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE ALIGNMENT OR THE BALANCING OF THE WHEELS AND I PAYED TO GET THAT DONE TO NO AVAIL. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS EVEN WITH NEW WHEELS AND TIRES. I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT IT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAPPENS TO SOMEBODY BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. *AK
BROKEN LEFT FRONT COIL SPRINGS HAD BEEN REPLACED. *BF THE CONSUMER NOTICED A SLIGHT METALLIC SOUND WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVERS SIDE COIL SPRING HAD SHEARED OFF AT THE BASE BUT WAS STILL RESTING ON THE PAD. *SC
SEVERE OIL LEAKAGE. HAD TO REPLACE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY. *JB
MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING IN OUR 2001 MODEL PATHFINDER SUV ALONG THE 57 STATE FREEWAY AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER ON IT'S SIDE TWICE AFTER SHE ATTEMPTED TO ERGE BACK TO HER TRAVELING LANE. SHE WAS TWO FEET AWAY FROM A STEEP HIGHWAY EMBANKMENT WHEN THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK ON ITS' WHEELS. SHE SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER ARM, HEAD, FACE, AND LEG. THE CAR IS A TOTAL OSS AS ASSESSED BY THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE WRECKED CAR AND WILL LIKE TO FORWARD IT TO YOU. WE HAD REPORTED TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP - DOUGLAS NISSAN ABOUT SCREECHING NOISES FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL AREA TWICE BEFORE THIS ACCIDENT AND THE DEALERSHIP STATE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY CAUSES FOR THE PROBLEM. SINCE THIS ACCIDENT I HAD CONTACTED NISSAN MOTOR NORTHE AMERICA CONSUMER AFFAIR TO REPORT THIS ACCIDENT AND CLAIM FOR LOSS OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO PRODUCT DEFECT ON DECEMBER 21, 2004 AND HAVE NOT HEAR BACK FROM NISSAN REGARDING ANY RESOLUTION.*AK
THE OXYGEN SENOR FAILED. THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE OXYGEN SENOR. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *JB
MY 2001 PATHFINDER HAD ONLY 37,800 MILES WHEN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. MY DEALERSHIP SAYS IT NEEDS BOTH REAR OXYGEN SENSORS AT A COST OF OVER $500. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT OXYGEN SENSORS WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO NEED REPLACING UNTIL 90,000 MILES. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN (02006) REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I FEEL THAT AT LEAST OF PORTION OF THIS COST SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HOW DO I CHECK ON THIS? *JB
THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM (FROM AND INCLUDING Y-PIPE AND BACK) HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. MY MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE MOST RUSTED OUT SYSTEM HE HAD EVER SEEN. I BELIEVE THIS WAS DUE TO INCORRECT MAKING OF THE PRODUCT. THIS MAY BE SIMILAR TO THE OTHER RECALL IN WHICH THE LACK OF PROPERLY COATING THE ITEMS CAUSED PREMATURE RUSTING. *TR
I OWN A 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER. I AM EXPERIENCING DELAYED, NOISY AND HARD ENGAGEMENT WHEN I SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED A WAVERING WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN MY WIFE TOOK INTO THE DEALER THEY TOLD HER THIS IS NORMAL FOR A PATHFINDER. CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT STARTING VEHICLE AND INTERMITTENT STALLING WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEED OF 0-35 MPH. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
MY DAUGHTER'S SERVICE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. SHE HAS PULLED OVER AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OVER AND OVER DUE TO THIS SINCE WE HAVE TOLD HER IT MAY BE UNSAFE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, I FIND THAT THOUSANDS OF 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. MILEAGE IS VERY LOW WHEN THIS OCCURS. I AM TAKING IT IN AGAIN TO HAVE ANOTHER "SENSOR" REPLACED BUT THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS AND THE CAR SHAKES BADLY.F HUNDRED/THOUSANDS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2001, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL? E SPENT 800 ON TIRES BECAUSE I WAS TOLD IT SHOOK DUE TO THIS, THEN THEY DECIDED IT WAS ANOTHER SENSOR.*AK
DRIVING ON PARKWAY, TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING ~ $3,000 BODY DAMAGE BY THE RIPPING RUBBER. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. TOW WAS NECESSARY. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE TIRE DID NOT SHOW THE "INDICATOR MARKING" OF WEAR, NOR WERE THE TREADS BARE. THE MAKE, MODEL AND NUMBERS ARE IDENTICAL TO 2 OTHER COMPLAINTS I QUICKLY REVIEWED ON THIS SITE. WHILE PARALLEL PARKING VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARD AND HIT A BRICK WALL WHILE THE BRAKES WAS STILL BEING APPLIED BY THE CONSUMER. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED , AND WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
WATER BEGAN TO LEAK UNDERNEATH OF THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT AND THEN MULTIPLE LIGHT SENSORS STARTING ACTIVATING WITHOUT CAUSE. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE EVAPORATOR WAS CLOGGED WITH LEAVES, ETC. HOWEVER, THE PART WAS SAID NOT TO NEED REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT, BUT THEY WERE GOING TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF THE WHOLES IN THE EVAPORATOR, SO IT WOULDN'T CLOG AGAIN. CALL WAS PLACED TO THE WARRANTY COMPANY, AND THEY STATED IT WASN'T COVER SINCE IT DIDN'T NEED A NEW PART, HOWEVER THEY DIDN'T FEEL THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD BE INCREASING THE SIZE OF THE WHOLES IF NOTHING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.CAR IS HARDLY EVER PARKED UNDER A TREE. DON'T UNDERSTAND THE NEED TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF THE EVAPORATOR WHOLES, IF THERE IS NO PREVIOUSLY KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THE DEALERSHIP KNOWS ABOUT.*AK
MY 2001 PATHFINDER HAS HAD SOME MAJOR TROUBLES WITH STARTING. I HAVE HAD TO WAIT FOR A PERIOD OF MORE THAN A HALF OF AN HOUR TO GET IT STARTED AND I ALSO HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK, (I WAS OUT OF TOWN), AND WAIT FOR THREE HOURS BEFORE I RECEIVED A JUMP START, THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THAT THE BATTERY WAS FULL. I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE 2001 PATHFINDER HAS BEEN RECALLED IN ASIA FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. WHY IS NOTHING BEING DONE ABOUT THIS IN THE STATES? S I HAVE HAD THE SAME INCIDENT OCCUR THREE TIMES I AM UNSURE ABOUT EXACT DATES OF THEIR OCCURRENCES.*AK
THE WINDOWS ON MY 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER GET SLOWER AND SLOWER UNTIL THEY BARELY WORK. WHILE THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY THEY LUBED THE WINDOWS AND SENT ME BACK OUT UNTIL IT HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS LATER, AGAIN AND AGAIN. NOW THEY SAY THEY WILL CHARGE ME BECAUSE I AM OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY SAY THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. THEY SAY THAT THE DRY CONDITIONS IN ARIZONA IS CAUSING IT TO ALL PATHFINDERS. I TOLD THEM OTHER BRANDS OF CARS SEEM TO BE FINE. THEY SAID THEY DO NOT PLAN ON DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL FUTURE LUBE REPAIRS. NISSAN TOLD ME THEY HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THE PROBLEM FOR AWHILE.
NISSAN RECALLED THE 2001 PATHFINDER REAR DOOR (HATCH) STRUT BRACKET REPLACEMENT AND IT REFUSED TO SERVICE MY PATHFINDER 2001 SAYING MY CAR WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. MY CAR'S VIN NUMBER IS [XXX] AND NISSAN SAID IT WASN'T ON THE RANGE OF THE CARS AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL AND THEREFORE THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT. I GET THE SAME RATTLING NOISE FROM THE TRUNK DOOR WHILE DRIVING AND IT'S THE SAME REASON WHAT THE RECALL IS FOR. AS PER NISSAN THIS TRUNK DOOR CAN FELL OFF AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES. WE PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN PATHFINDER (VIN #[XXX]) IN JULY 2001 FROM WHITE PLAINS NISSAN, INC. IN WHITE PLAINS, NY. OCTOBER 12, 2003: THE CAR BEGAN MAKING A SCREECHING NOISE WHEN BRAKING. I REMOVED THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON, AND IMMEDIATELY SAW THAT PART OF THE CALIPER BROKE OFF, AND WAS LEANING AGAINST THE INSIDE PART OF THE RIM, AT WHICH POINT I PUT THE TIRE BACK ON, AND BEGAN CALLING NISSAN TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT (THE CAR IS STILL UNDER ORIGINAL MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY). OCTOBER 13, 2003: WE TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IN STAMFORD, STAMFORD MOTORS, INC., NISSAN DIVISION. WHEN MY WIFE OLGA DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP, SHE STATED CLEARLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS (BROKEN CALIPER) AND ASKED HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO GET IT FIXED UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. TO ELABORATE, HE SAID THAT THESE PARTS RARELY BREAK UNLESS TAMPERED WITH, AND BECAUSE THERE WAS A SCRATCH ON THE OUTSIDE ON THE CALIPER, THEY THINK THAT SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO CHANGE THE BREAK PADS HIMSELF, AND BROKE THE CALIPER. WE HAVE ALREADY SHOWN THE PART TO SEVERAL INDEPENDENT SHOPS, INCLUDING A METAL EXPERT, ALL OF WHICH RECOGNIZED A FATIGUE FAILURE AND NOT SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY TEMPERING. IN LATE MAY OF 2003, THE DRIVER'S SEAT OF MY NISSAN PATHFINDER STOPPED WORKING AS FAR AS THE AUTOMATIC SEAT ADJUSTMENTS. I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD OR REVERSE USING THE SEAT'S AUTOMATIC SWITCH. THUS BEING STUCK IN A POSITION NOT EXACTLY THE WAY I WOULD NEED TO DRIVE. I CAN NOT MOVE THIS SEAT TO A PROPER AND SAFE AREA SO THAT I CAN OPERATE THE VEHICLE AS PRESCRIBED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. AS WITH ANY VEHICLE, THE SEAT SHOULD BE POSITIONED RELATIVE TO THE DRIVER'S ABILITY. I HAVE TO DRIVE CLOSER TO THE STEERING WHEEL THAT I WOULD LIKE. AS WELL AS MY GIRLFRIEND IS UNABLE TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE OF THE FACT IT WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD SO SHE CAN REACH THE PEDALS. SO IF I WAS TO BE HURT, SHE WOULD NOT HAVE A WAY TO GO. THE MOTOR FOR THIS SEAT SHOULD NOT BE MALFUNCTIONING THIS EARLY IN A VEHICLE'S LIFE. I TOOK THE SAID VEHICLE TO THE SHEEHY NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHICH IS LOCATED IN MANASSAS, VIRGINIA. THEY INDICATED THAT THIS WAS NOT A RECALL NOR A WARRANTY PART. I HAVE THE GOLD WARRANTY WHICH [XXX] NEARS COVERS EVERYTHING ELSE. ALSO IT COVERS A DRIVER'S SEAT ASSEMBLY BUT NOT THIS PARTICULAR PIECE OR AS I WAS INFORMED THIS KIT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS OFFICE AND COMPLAINED AS WELL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND IF FOR SOME REASON I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE SEAT MOVES TO THE VERY FRONT POSITION, I AM UNABLE TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE AND COULD CAUSE MORE DAMAGE TO MYSELF, THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS ANOTHER OBSTACLE OR VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING OVER AVERAGE BUMPY ROAD I HEARD A LOUD POP AND NOTICED A TINY CRACK IN BOTTOM OF WINDSHIELD. THIS CRACK CONTINUED TO COVER THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD. I TOOK THE SUV TO A VERY WELL RESPECTED WINDSHIELD REPAIR SHOP AND AFTER THEIR EXAM GAVE ME 2 POSSIBLE REASONS FOR THIS FAILURE. #1 REASON INSUFFICIENT STRENGTH OF THE GLASS. IT IS VERY THIN FOR A WINDSHIELD (FORD WINDSHIELD RECALL) UNABLE TO HANDLE THE STRESS OF NORMAL AND EXPECTED ROAD SURFACE CONDITIONS. #2 IMPROPER INSTALLATION . THE VEHICLE SHAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND CAUSES EXTREME WEAR AND TEAR ON THE TIRES. I HAVE HAD THIS NISSAN PATHFINDER (2001) FOR JUST OVER A YEAR AND NISSAN HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHILE STILL IN THE DEALER, I CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REPORTED THE INCIDENT. NISSAN REP SAID THAT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR THE GLASS TO SHATTER. I CALLED AGAIN WEEK LATER AFTER FINDING OUT THAT THE SAME INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER PEOPLE DRIVING THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR. I STATED MY SAFETY CONCERNS. FUEL/THROTTLE CONTROL: I EXPERIENCED A "SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION" INCIDENT IN JULY OF 2002. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF HEAD IN PARKING AND WAS MOVING VERY SLOWLY WHILE APPLYING BRAKES THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OVER CURBING INTO A WALL. THE VEHICLE STOPPED, THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING, AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE IS A 2001 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH LESS THAN 8,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE READ OF OTHER INCIDENTS LIKE THIS FOR THIS VEHICLE AND AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. NO OTHER INCIDENT HAS OCCURED. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCE THIS SITUATION BEFORE AND I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT THAT I STEPPED ON THE ACCELETATOR THE SAME TIME AS THE BRAKE. NOW I BELIEVE I DID NOT STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR BUT FOR SOME REASON THE VEHICLE MALFUNCTIONED. I HAVE NOT TAKEN THIS INTO THE DEALER BECAUSE I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THEIR ABILITY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS IT APPEARS TO BE VERY INTERMITTENT. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IS POTENTIALLY LETHAL AND CANNOT BE DETECTED BY NORMAL MAINTENANCE AND HAPPENS SO QUICKLY THAT THE DRIVER CANNOT REACT TO AVOID A SERIOUS COLLISION. THERE WERE NO INJURIES (THIS TIME) BUT VEHICLE DAMAGE WAS $500.
