TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRANSMISSION ON THE VEHICLE FAILED TWICE. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO FUNCTION WITH SOME RESISTANCE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE RADIATOR FAILED CAUSING COOLANT TO MIX WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 124,128. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DESIGN OF THE COOLING SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE ALLOWED FOR CROSS-CONTAMINATION OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WITH THE ENGINE COOLANT. THE VALVE WAS DEFECTIVE, AND ULTIMATELY FAILED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SWITCHING THE GEAR BACK INTO DRIVE THE FAILURE DID NOT CONTINUE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD IDLE AND LOSE POWER. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS, WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE TRANSFER CASE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AT THE DEALER AND WAS INSTEAD TAKEN TO A TRANSMISSION TECHNICIAN. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS CRACKED AND LEAKED WATER INTO THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,500. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED AND THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER - NOTICED SHUDDER AROUND 60 MPH INTERMITTENTLY FOR ABOUT ONE WEEK THEN PROBLEM BECAME MORE FREQUENT OCCURRING AROUND 40-45 MPH. WHILE TRYING TO TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP, TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL IN THE PATH OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT RADIATOR HAD FAILED, LEAKING COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION WHICH REQUIRED BOTH TO BE REPLACED. SINCE FAILURE OCCURRED AT 90,000 MILES, WARRANTY ON RADIATOR THAT HAS A KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECT IS VOID AND THUS PREVIOUSLY COVERED TRANSMISSION WARRANTY IS ALSO VOID. NISSAN OF NORTH AMERICA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND RECALL THE PART, LEAVING THEIR CUSTOMERS STRANDED BOTH ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IN THEIR WALLETS. TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR MANY REASONS. THE LOOPHOLE APPEARS TO BE THAT SINCE THE FAILURE IS DUE TO THE RADIATOR, ANYTHING RELATING TO THE TRANSMISSION IS NULL AND VOID. *TT
THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR SHOWS PARTIALLY FULL TANK ALL THE TIME AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, WE DID NOT REALIZE IT AND RAN OUT OF GAS AND ENDED UP STRANDING MY FAMILY ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON THEME AMONG ALL 2005 - 2009 NISSAN PATHFINDER, XTERRA AND FRONTIER OWNERS AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A SERVICE RECALL FOR THIS! I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS FORUMS AND THIS SENSOR HAS FAILED ANYWHERE FROM 40K MILES ONWARDS AND COSTS ANYWHERE FROM 400 - 600 DOLLARS TO FIX. PLEASE ENSURE THAT NISSAN TAKES CARE OF THIS ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANKS. *TT
TRANSMISSION/RADIATOR COOLANT CROSS CONTAMINATION CAUSING THE PATHFINDER TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. MY 2 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE CHILD SEAT IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. *KB
I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER'S ELECTRICAL COMPONENT WAS "DEAD." THE CAR NEEDS A NEW IPMD AND ECM MODULES. THE DEALER QUOTED ME A PRICE OF $2200 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, I LEARNED THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. MY CAR IS STILL WITH THE DEALER. I WILL ADVISE THEM OF THE RECALL ON MONDAY AND REQUEST THAT MY CAR IS REPAIRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE RADIATOR. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT RADIATOR FLUID MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE HEATHER AND AIR CONDITIONING UNIT FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AS THE RADIATOR. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,841 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 144,121. UPDATED 1/7/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED RADIATOR COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION, TWICE. THE FIRST TIME, WAS IN JULY 2011, AND NISSAN REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR AT A COST OF $ 6,981.86. THE SECOND TIME IT OCCURRED WAS IN SEPTEMBER 2012, AT A COST OF $ 1499.19. NISSAN REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION WITH AN AFTER MARKET TRANSMISSION AND FLUSHED THE RADIATOR. UPDATED 01/09/13
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND A SENSOR WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A FULL DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE SENSOR FOR THE TRANSMISSION WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
NISSAN HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THEIR RADIATORS AND FAULTY HOSES. THESE RESULT IN COOLANT LEAKING IN THE TRANSMISSION AND ULTIMATELY DESTROYING BOTH. THIS ISSUE IS PREVALENT AT 85K MILES AND BEYOND WHICH IS OUT OF WARRANTY FOR BOTH. THIS LEAKS CAUSES THE PATHFINDER TO BE UNSAFE AS IT CANNOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED FOR OVER 6K. THE PATHFINDER DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND WILL ULTIMATELY STALL COMPLETELY WHILE IN USE. NISSAN WILL NOT COVER THIS ISSUE WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. *TR
I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT SINCE NISSAN DOES NOT DO ANYTHING WITH THE PROBLEM TO BE FIXED, I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER, WHEN WERE ON THE ROAD OUR CAR IS HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING STARTS JERKING, AND WERE SO SCARED THAT WILL NOT MAKE IT HOME BECAUSE THE WAY ITS ACTING WE FINALLY MADE IT HOME AND THE CA WOULD NOT REVERSE WE LOOK ONLINE AND SEARCH WHAT' CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND READ A BUNCH OF COMPLAINT WITH THE CONSUMER AT AUTOMOTIVE.COM STATING THAT THE REASON FOR THE PROBLEM IS THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION THAT CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO BURN, CALLED AROUND WITH A BUNCH OF AUTO MECHANIC AND WHEN I MENTION THAT I NEED MY TRANSMISSION REPLACE THE MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY SAID YOU KNOW YOU NEED YOUR RADIATOR REPLACE BECAUSE THAT IS CAUSING YOUR TRANSMISSION PROBLEM I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN AND DENIED THE COMPLAINT THIS SHOULD BE IN THE RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS DANGEROUS IF YOU WEREN'T AWARE OF THE PROBLEM IF YOUR ON THE ROAD HOPE YOU CAN HELP US WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH 93,000 MILES. HAD ORIGINAL ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION IN 2009 A SLIGHT SHIMMY AND ONCE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED, AS SOON AS IT SLIPPED I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION AND WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE: RADIATOR, AND TRANSMISSION AT ~$6,500. I ASKED FOR OPTIONS THE DEALER SAID I COULD TRY REPLACING RADIATOR, FLUSH TRANSMISSION AND ADD NEW TRANSMISSION FLUID FOR ~2,500, HE SAID IT MAY MAKE IT 5 MORE MILES OR 500K MILES, BUT EXPECTED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD AT SOME POINT FAIL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LOCAL TRUSTED REPAIR SHOP AND HAD RADIATOR REPLACED AND TRANSMISSION FLUSHED WITH NISSAN TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILLED WITH NISSAN TRANSMISSION FLUID FOR LESS THAN $1K. HAD NO ISSUES SINCE. ON JUNE 6TH OUT OF THE BLUE AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE LAKE, I FELT THE SHIMMY AGAIN, IMMEDIATELY BACKED OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND THEN SLOWLY GOT BACK INTO THE GAS, AS I DID I FELT THE TRANSMISSION SLIP A LITTLE. LESS THAN 1,000 FEET DOWN THE ROAD I NOTICED SMOKE IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHIN 1,000' AS I CAME TO A STOP THICK BLACK SMOKE CAME FROM BENEATH THE VEHICLE AND SHUT THE CAR OFF, AND I REALIZED THE CAR WAS ON FIRE. I OPENED THE DOOR TO GET OUT AND FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE RUNNING BOARDS. WITHIN 3 MINUTES THE CAR AND ALL IT'S CONTENTS WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY THE FIRE. IT WAS OBVIOUS FROM MY VANTAGE POINT AND THE PICTURES I TOOK DURING THE FIRE THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING AND THE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE RESULTING IN A THERMAL EVENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED, THANK GOD I WAS ALONE.AND THE DEALERSHIP COULD CARE LESS. *TR
RADIATOR LEAKS INTO TRANSMISSION CAUSING TRANSMISSION TO MESS UP. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND TOLD ME IT HAPPENS ON HIGHER MILEAGE PATHFINDER BUT THEY ONLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 80,000 MILES. I RESEARCHED THE 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT OCCURS WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM AND NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *TR

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND WE WERE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DUE TO BEING A SATURDAY AND ALSO A HOLIDAY WEEKEND. MPH WAS 40 AND OUR SUV SUDDENLY LURCHED VIOLENTLY FORWARD. THANKFULLY MY HUSBAND HAS FAST REFLEXES AND IS A VERY GOOD DRIVER AND MANAGED TO GET CONTROL OF THE CAR OR THERE WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY BEEN BAD CONSEQUENCES DUE TO WHERE WE WERE. WE ALSO REALIZED THERE WERE OTHER SIGNS THAT SOMETHING WAS VERY WRONG AND HAD IT TAKEN TO A NISSAN SERVICE SHOP. THIS IS FROM THEIR NOTES: "THEY FOUND INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO AUTO TRANS COOLER WHICH IS INTERNAL PART OF THE RADIATOR LET GO, REMOVE RADIATOR AND PERFORM ENGINE/COOLANT FLUSH TWICE FLUSH OUT TRANS LINES TWICE AND REPLACE AUTO TRANS WITH FACTORY REMAN UNIT AND RADIATOR." THEY TOOK THE SUV JUNE 6TH AND WE DID NOT GET IT BACK UNTIL AUG 6TH DUE TO NISSAN HAVING TROUBLE FILLING ALL THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENTS BECAUSE OF SO MANY OF THE SAME TRANSMISSION/RADIATOR FAILURES AND WE WERE TOLD THIS BY THE NISSAN SERVICE TECHNICIAN. PAYING THE ALMOST $6000. AND LOSING OUR SECOND VEHICLE FOR 2 MONTHS WAS FRUSTRATING BUT THAT WE COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE, ON TOP OF THE MANY SURROUNDING VEHICLES AND DRIVERS WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN AFFECTED WHEN THE SUV WENT OUT OF CONTROL LURCHING FORWARD AS IT DID IT IS SHOCKING TO US THAT NISSAN HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS. WE CAN LIVE WITHOUT THE MONEY. WE ARE GRATEFUL WE CAME OUT OF IT SAFE. FROM SO MANY OTHERS REPORTING THE SAME DANGEROUS SYMPTOMS OF THE WELL KNOWN PROBLEMS TO US IS SCARY. *TR
THE TIMING CHAIN HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 65K MILES. IT COST $1200 AND IT'S A COMMON NISSAN PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THE ACTUATOR OF THE ANTI-SKID ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND FELT AS IF IT WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A NISSAN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE AIR BAG FAILURE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ALONG WITH THE JERKING FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
RADIATOR COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID MIXING, CAUSING MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE. HESITANT SHIFTING, OR WORSE, NO SHIFTING OR MOVEMENT AT ALL. ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAY (INTERSTATE). *TR
AROUND 95000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN VERY ABRUPT JERKING WHEN ACCELERATING. AROUND MAY 2011 TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING, I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND DISCOVERED MANY PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM DUE TO RADIATOR CRACKED. I LOOKED INTO MY RADIATOR AND DISCOVERED STRAWBERRY LOOKING FLUID . REPLACED MY RADIATOR , AN FLUSHED IT A FEW TIMES AND THEN FLUSHED MY TRANSMISSION WHICH HAD THE SAME COLOR FLUIDS, I BELIEVE NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THESE FAULTY RADIATORS AND TRANSMISSION AND DRAG IT OUT THROUGH COURT SO PEOPLE WOULD LOOSE THEIR OPPORTUNITY TO USE THEIR WARRANTY. I AM CURRENTLY TRYING TO GET NISSAN TO REPLACE MY FAULTY TRANSMISSION AND I AM WILLING TO PAY A $3000.00 FEE BUT SO FAR THEY ARE RELUCTANT. ANY SUGGESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. NISSAN EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTIES ON THE 2005 PATHFINDERS TO 80,000. THE REASON THEY DID THIS IS BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEIR DEFECTIVE RADIATORS HAVE BEEN CAUSING TRANSMISSIONS TO GO OUT DUE TO CONTAMINATION FROM THE RADIATOR FLUID. SINCE I WAS DEPLOYED, I WAS UNAWARE OF THE EXTENSION OR THE PROBLEM UNTIL MY TRANSMISSION STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS IN MAY OF 2011. THE OTHER DAY, I TRIED TO PULL OUT OF A GAS STATION AND I LOST ALL ACCELERATION DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE A NISSAN COMPLAINT TICKET BUT UNLESS IT IS FORCED INTO RECALL, I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR MY NEW TRANSMISSION ON A CAR I JUST RECENTLY PAID OFF. AS A CONSUMER, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S DESIGN DEFECT THAT CAUSES MAJOR MECHANICAL COST AND SAFETY ISSUES. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, MOST CUSTOMERS ARE BEING TOLD TO COME AND HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED FOR APPROX. 500$ TO BE TOLD THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THIS DEFECT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE DIES AS A RESULT OF NISSANS NEGLIGENCE IN STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE VIBRATED ABNORMALLY WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS REPLACED AND THE VIBRATION WAS CORRECTED TEMPORARILY. AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.

AFTER HAVING IT CHECKED BY A MECHANIC IN MAY 2011 HE STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND COOLANT IS MISSING TOGETHER. THE FLUID WAS CHANGED ON JUNE 26, 2011, THAT CAME OUT LOOKING LIKE CHOCOLATE MILK AND IT IS STILL VIBRATING AT 45 AND 64 MILES PER HOUR. I UNDER STAND THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM FOR THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE CAR DEALERS AND NOT THE CONSUMER. THE SOLENOID IN THE TRANSMISSION JUMPS OFFLINE AND ONCE THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON IT RESETS AND THE VIBRATION CONTINUE AS YOU DRIVE. 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE WITH 86,000 MILES STARTING HAVING OPERATIONAL ISSUES WHEN RUNNING AT 2000 RPM'S. WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR NUMEROUS SERVICES AND WAS MENTIONED TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT. SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING AND THAT IT WASN'T ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. AFTER SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES THE ROUGH ENGINE RUNNING AT 2000 RPM'S WAS BECOMING MORE EVIDENT. SERVICE MANAGER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AS THEY HAD MANY OTHER PATHFINDERS IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE RADIATOR SEAL WAS LEAKING FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS A TRANSMISSION FLUSH TO THE TUNE OF $850.00. NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE APPEARED AT DEALERSHIP AND WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM HOWEVER REFUSED TO COVER THE PROBLEM SAYING THAT IT WAS OUR PROBLEM BECAUSE IT EXCEEDED THE 80000 MILE EXTENSION ON THE RADIATOR. NISSAN NEVER NOTIFIED US ABOUT AND EXTENSION ON THE RADIATOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE SERVICE MANAGER ALSO INDICATED THAT HE COULD NOT PUT A WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION THAT RECEIVED THE RADIATOR FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE PROBLEM FIRST BEGAN WITH MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER ON MARCH 27, 2011, WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THERE WAS NO HEAT IN THE CABIN. AS THE NISSAN WAS PARKED IN OUR GARAGE, WE NOTICED FLUID LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND. THE FLUID HAD A MILKY WHITE SUBSTANCE IN IT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, WE REALIZED THAT WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL, THERE WERE KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. WE HAD THE PATHFINDER DIAGNOSED ON JUNE 3, 2011 BY BILLINGS NISSAN. WE HAD INFORMED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT NISSAN THAT WE WERE SUSPECTING THE TRANSMISSION WAS CONTAMINATED WITH COOLANT. NISSAN INFORMED US THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THEY ARE SEPARATE UNITS AND THAT THE MILKY WHITE SUBSTANCE IN THE TRANSMISSION WAS A RESULT OF AIR ENTERING THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER MUCH DISPAIR, WE DECIDED TO TRADE IN OUR VEHICLE AND TOOK A HUGE LOSS ON THE TRADE-IN VALUE. WE FELT THAT IF WE DECIDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, AND THAT THE RADIATOR WAS IN FACT DAMAGED AND ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THAT WE WOULD ONLY BE FACED WITH THE SAME ISSUE DOWN THE ROAD AND WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION A 2ND TIME. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND WAS TOLD THAT WHILE MY CAR HAS UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY LIMIT, I WAS OVER THE 5 YEAR LIMIT BY 7 MONTHS. *TR
THIS VEHICLE IS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE, 4.0 LITER V6 WITH 53,000 MILES. 60 MONTH WARRANTY EXPIRED 7-2010. THE TIMING CHAIN AND GEARS BROKE APART CAUSING ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING. NORMALLY TIMING CHAINS AND GEARS SHOULD NOT DISINTEGRATE FOR CONSIDERABLY LONGER THAN 53,000 MILES. FILED COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA 3-28-11 WITH NO SATISFACTION. THEY WERE UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING SINCE THE VEHICLE IS PAST 60 MONTH PERIOD AND SINCE WE NEVER SERVICED THE VEHICLE AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. HAVING RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON COMPLAINT WITH 2005 AND 2006 4.0 LITER V6 MOTORS. DEALER IS ASKING IN EXCESS OF $2000.00 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
THIS WAS A SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER. *TR
RADIATOR CRACKED AND LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION WHICH LEAD TO TRANSMISION FAILURE
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THE RADIATOR CRACKED CAUSING FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER STATED THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
