WE WERE DRIVING IN OUR 2005 PATHFINDER WHEN THE CAR DECIDED TO DECREASE SPEED ALL BY ITSELF AFTER WE PULLED OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION WITH TRAFFIC HEADED OUR WAY. TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD COOLANT LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION DUE TO A DEFECTED SEAL IN THE RADIATOR TO FIX THE PROBLEM ECM,TCM, TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR NEED TO BE REPLACED ABOUT 7,000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM NISSAN NEED TO CORRECT THERE MISTAKES NOT RECALL ONE COMPONENT THAT GOT FRIED BECAUSE COOLANT LEAKED ON IT THAT'S NOT GOING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I CANT BELIEVE WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO LOOSE A LOVE ONE BEFORE ACTION IS DONE WE WERE SECOND AWAY FROM THAT, SERIOUSLY. 2005 NISSAN IPDM PROBLEMS. AFTER READING ONLINE EVERYONE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. WHAT ARE RECALLS FOR? 63,000 MILES AND A DEAD TRUCK. THE BIG COMPANY NISSAN NEEDS TO STEP UP AND FIX THIS SMALL PROBLEM INSTEAD OF MILKING CONSUMERS FOR UNNECESSARY REPAIRS "TRYING" TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
SPENT $1067.22 ON RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION REPAIR ON WHAT LATER WAS RECALLED. NOW THEY STATE I AM NOT ELIGIBLE BECAUSE OF MILEAGE BUT LOGIC WOULD DICTATE THAT THE HIGH MILEAGE CARS WOULD EXHIBIT THE PROBLEM FIRST AS MINE DID. NISSAN ADMITTED A PROBLEM WITH THE RECALL AND I EXPERIENCED IT AND PAID TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. WHY WOULD IT NOT BE COVERED? BOUGHT A NISSAN PATHFINDER SE 2005... IT HAS OVER 70,000 MILES ON IT NOW. I WAS DRIVING IT DOWN THE HIGHWAY, WITH MY HUSBAND AND 12 MONTH OLD BABY GIRL, SURROUNDED IN WALL TO WALL RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND ROAD CONSTRUCTION. THE NISSAN STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE THEN STARTED SLIPPING 4TH GEAR. SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY NOTICE 4TH GEAR WAS COMPLETELY OUT. I HAD TO STOP THE CAR, PUT IT IN 3RD GEAR MANUALLY AND DRIVE BEFORE GETTING REAR ENDED. MIRACULOUSLY IT DROVE IN 3RD GEAR SO WE TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHO EXPLAINED TO US THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE RADIATOR. THE RADIATOR WAS CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION, MIXING WITH THE TRANSMISSION OIL AND DESTROYING OUR TRANSMISSION. HE KNEW THIS PROBLEM WELL SINCE HE'S FIXED THEM MANY TIMES. WE CHECKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND COUNTLESS MORE INDIVIDUAL SUCH AS OURSELVES EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC ALSO EXPLAINED THE NEW PATHFINDERS ARE NOT USING THESE FAULTY RADIATORS, SO NISSAN KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM. TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION USING A USED ONE WILL BE $4,000. THAT'S INCLUDING THE USED TRANSMISSION, LABOR, SHIPPING COSTS, TAX, AND FLUIDS. I UNDERSTAND THAT THINGS BREAK AND WEAR OUT, BUT IF A COMPANY SAYS THAT YOU SHOULD BUY THERE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY WILL STAND BEHIND IT, AND THAT THEY BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE A QUALITY PRODUCT THAT YOU CAN COUNT ON, THEN THEY SHOULD DO AS THEY SAY AND STAND BEHIND THERE NISSAN. WE ARE ONE CAR SHORT WITH NOT MUCH MONEY TO PAY FOR SUCH A EXPENSIVE REPAIR. A RECALL IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO, I DON'T THINK SOMEONE HAS TO DIE BEFORE SOMEONE SOMEWHERE STANDS UP TO MAKE SOMETHING HAPPENS. OUR FAMILY HAVE ALREADY SUFFERED A LOSS DUE TO A SUV MALFUNCTION. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IPDM (INTELLIGENT POWER DISPLACEMENT MODULE) HAD FAILED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE BEING DRIVEN 40 MPH. THE IPDM CONTROLLED THE AMOUNT OF GAS PROVIDED TO THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE SPUTTERED BEFORE IT STALLED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 58,000.
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND ON TUESDAY ON MY WAY TO WORK THE TRUCK STOP ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF FREEWAY. ACCORDING TO NISSAN THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE BUT I RECEIVED A LETTER FOR RECALL FROM THEM THAT I CANT FIND. A GENTLEMAN HELP ME GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE FREE WAY SINCE THERE WAS A LOT OF TRAFFIC. AND IT DIE AGAIN. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WERE BLINKING LIKE CRAZY. THE TRUCK WENT BACK ON AND DID IT AGAIN ON MY WAY HOME BARELY GOT HOME AND DID NOT WANT TO TURN ON AGAIN. HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE AGENCY AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE IBPM CONTROL MODULE. WHICH CONTROLS EVERYTHING. SO I BEEN CALLING NISSAN AND THEY DON'T HAVE ANY RECALLS ACCORDING TO THEM, BUT WHAT ABOUT IF IT WOULD OF CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I FELT MY LIFE WAS IN DANGER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP WITH EXTREME HESITATION AND THE RPMS INCREASED RAPIDLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND I HAVE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE! DEFECTIVE RADIATOR CAUSES ENGINE COOLANT TO LEAK INTO TRANSMISSION WHICH COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED COULD AND WILL CAUSE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. I MUST NOT BE ALONE IN THIS PROBLEM EITHER, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SIGHT REGARDING THIS VERY ISSUE! TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING AT 50 MPH DURING ACCELERATION ON FREEWAY. UNABLE TO AVOID FAST TRAFFIC AND STUCK BEHIND BIG RIG. SLOW DRIVING MORE DANGEROUS THAN NORMAL FLOW TRAFFIC. TOOK TO GET TRANSMISSION FLUSHED AND MECHANIC MENTION BROWNISH COLOR, BUT NO CONTAMINATION OF RADIATOR FLUID. SAYS NEEDS REBUILT OR NEW TRANS. I TOOK SUV BACK AND BEEN DRIVING STILL WITH SHIFTING WORKING, BUT SHAKING AT 60 MPH OR HIGHER JUST LIKE PRIOR TO SHIFT ISSUE. 65K ONLY AND FROM READING FORUMS, I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS AND MANY UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS INCLUDING ME. HOPING NISSAN STEPS UP AND FIXES THIS FOR FREE. NOT SURE IF TRADING IN OR FIXING. LOVE THIS CAR, BUT ISSUE AFTER ISSUE. 2008 HAD BOTH CATS REPLACED, FOR LOST OF POWER. *TR
THE PROBLEM IS THE LOST POWER / DIED RANDOMLY IN VARIOUS SITUATIONS ON THE NISSAN PATHFINDER 2005. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED AT A LOW SPEED ACCELERATING INTO AN INTERSECTION, AT A STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, AT A STEADY SPEED ON A CITY ROAD, AND AT A HIGHWAY SPEED. THE FAILURE ALWAYS OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING OR FAILURE INDICATION. I LOST COMPLETE POWER; THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH THE OTHER LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD LIKE IF THE KEY WAS JUST TURN ON WITHOUT STARTING. THIS FAILURE HAS BEEN VERY SCARY FOR MY FAMILY AS IT HAS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY. NO ENGINE CODES WERE FOUND, SO NO REPAIRS WERE ATTEMPTED BY THE DEALER. WHAT IS MOST DISCOMFORTING IS THAT WHEN I DID RESEARCH ON THE WEB, I FOUND THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. YOU DID NOT KNOW EXACTLY HOW MUCH GAS WAS IN THE VEHICLE THEREFORE COULD HAVE CAUSED SEVERE INJURY IF DRIVING AND RAN OUT OF GAS AND DIDN'T KNOW IT! *TR

SHE WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTARTED THE VEHICLE BUT IT DID NOT START. SHE CALLED A TOWING COMPANY AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED HER THAT THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE RECALLING CERTAIN VEHICLES FOR THE FAILURE BUT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A VIN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 75,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH THE FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED. THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED A HALF TANK OF GASOLINE AND THE ACTUAL FUEL IN THE VEHICLE COULD BE SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER. THE CONTACT NOTICED A RECALL FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM BUT DUE TO THE YEAR OF THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RECEIVE A REMEDY REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD OPEN THE RECALL TO LATER MODELS SINCE THE PARTS WERE THE SAME IN THE MODELS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
2005 NISSAN RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE. DEFECTIVE RADIATOR CAUSES ENGINE COOLANT TO LEAK INTO TRANSMISSION WHICH MAY FAIL AT ANY TIME. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, ENTERING TRAFFIC, MERGING OR ENTERING INTERSECTIONS CAUSING DANGEROUS CONDITIONS AS THE VEHICLE FAILS TO MOVE, DECELERATES QUICKLY OR THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS BADLY AND FAILS TO ACCELERATE. HUNDREDS OF INCIDENTS OF FAILURES ARE REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. AN APPARENT DESIGN/MANUFACTURING FLAW IN THE RADIATOR CAUSES THE CONDITION. NISSAN HAS TAKEN NO RESPONSIBILITY OR CORRECTIVE ACTION. THOUSANDS OF UNSUSPECTING CONSUMERS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE AT RISK EACH DAY DRIVING OR RIDING IN THESE VEHICLES. CONSUMERS ARE LEFT PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR REPLACEMENTS. *TR
WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, I HEARD A LOUD "CLANG" WHICH SOUNDED LIKE IT CAME FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OR UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR. IT SOUNDED LIKE A METAL ROD HIT ANOTHER PIECE OF METAL. AS I WAS ALREADY OUT OF MY SPACE, I PROCEEDED FORWARD, BUT MY CAR LACKED POWER. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GAIN ENOUGH POWER TO MOVE FORWARD, BUT SOMETHING WAS OBVIOUSLY WRONG. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR TO THE DEALER, AVOIDING THE HIGHWAY FOR FEAR OF GETTING HIT BY SOMEONE WHILE MY CAR HAD VERY LITTLE RESPONSIVENESS. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE CAR AND CLAIMED TO BE SURPRISED OF THE FAILURE, WHICH WAS THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE RADIATOR, AND COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER QUOTED ME $7000 TO FIX THIS ISSUE. AFTER CALLING AROUND AND FINDING AN AAMCO DEALER WHO EXPLAINED TO ME THIS WELL KNOWN ISSUE, I WAS QUOTED A PRICE OF "ONLY" $3800 TO FIX IT. THE PROBLEM, AS DESCRIBED BY THE MECHANIC, WAS A FAULTY DESIGN WHERE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TRAVELS THROUGH THE RADIATOR WITH SOME SORT OF VALVE BOX BETWEEN THEM AND THE HEAT DIFFERENTIAL BETWEEN THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID NECESSARILY CAUSES THE VALVE BOX TO DECAY CAUSING THE 2 FLUIDS TO MIX. THE RESULT IS A COMPLETELY RUINED RADIATOR, COMPLETELY RUINED VALVE BOX, AND IF NOT TREATED EARLY, A COMPLETELY RUINED TRANSMISSION. OBVIOUSLY, IF I AM DRIVING MY CHILDREN ON VACATION AND WE'RE COMING DOWN A MOUNTAIN WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILS, THIS COULD BE VERY TRAGIC! NOW I AM OUT A CAR, FORCED TO OBTAIN A RENTAL CAR, AND STILL NEED TO CORRECTLY FIX MY OWN CAR. WHAT'S MORE, IF I USE THE SAME COMPONENTS THAT NISSAN HAS DESIGNED, I WILL ONLY BE SETTING MYSELF UP FOR FUTURE PROBLEMS. I LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND WAS AMAZED TO FIND SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, DESCRIBING IN DETAIL PRETTY MUCH WHAT THE AAMCO MECHANIC TOLD ME. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE FOLKS AT NISSAN HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A FAULTY DESIGN AND NISSAN NEEDS CORRECT IT. *TR
THE INITIAL PROBLEM WAS THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COOLER INSIDE THE RADIATOR HAD BROKEN. THIS FLOODED THE COOLANT SYSTEM WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID, WHICH THEN CIRCULATED THROUGH THE ENGINE. THE COOLANT/WATER MIX ALSO LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN - REPLACE RADIATOR, ALL HOSES, AND TRANSMISSION. *TR
2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. ENGINE CUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN TRAFFIC, ONE TIME AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. VEHICLE STARTS ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT IT'S 'MOST LIKELY' IPDM FAILURE BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE AS IT DOESN'T THROW A CODE. DEALER KEPT CAR 5 DAYS AND "TRIED" TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE TO POSITIVELY DIAGNOSE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO. THE DAY AFTER PICKING IT UP FROM THE DEALER THE ENGINE QUIT AGAIN IN TRAFFIC. NOW WE ARE TOLD THAT OUR WARRANTY COMPANY WILL ONLY COVER IF THEY CAN POSITIVELY DIAGNOSE. MY TODDLER WAS IN THE CAR THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED AND OUR CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION BETWEEN 2 6-LANE ROADS. COULDN'T REMOVE THE VEHICLE FOR 30 MINUTES. JUST WAITING FOR IT TO HAPPEN WHILE MERGING ON THE INTERSTATE DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. HOPEFULLY THERE ARE NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES AS A RESULT OF THIS FAILURE. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER, AS I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE, THE CAR JUST DIED AND THE SAME ALMOST HAPPENED TO ME! THE FUEL SENSOR WENT OUT SO COULDN'T FIND OUT THE FUEL LEVELS, THEN IT STALLED OUT AS I WAS DRIVING!! I HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE FUEL PUMP, BUT I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND WANT THIS TO BE A 2005 RECALL! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED HE NOTICED THAT THE GAS GAUGE FAILED. THE GAUGE READS EMPTY WHETHER THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY OR FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE GARAGE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE IN THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK REPORT 68729973 AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT HE HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED FOR THEM TO CONSIDER ASSISTING WITH THE REPAIRS. HE ALSO EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WITH THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE RADIATOR WHICH CAUSED THE RADIATOR FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 80,000.
MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER HAD A BAD FUEL SENSOR. UPON CALLING THE DEALER,THEY GAVE ME THE NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS NUMBER TO CALL STATING THAT ALTHOUGH MY VEHICLE WASN'T RECALLED FOR IT THEY FIXED OTHERS WITH NISSAN COVERING THE EXPENSE. WHEN I CALLED I WAS TOLD I HAD TO GET IT REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP TO POSSIBLY BE REIMBURSED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE. I DID WHAT THEY SAID AND THEY REFUSED MY CLAIM STATING IT DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. THE REGIONAL SPECIALIST WAS SNIPPY AND WOULD NOT LET ME SPEAK TO HER SUPERVISOR. I'M DISGUSTED AND ASKING THAT YOU CHECK INTO THE INTEGRITY AS A COMPANY. WHEN OUR 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER STARTED TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE DURING GEAR SHIFT AT 40 MPH AND 60 MPH, WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT A PROBLEM WITH THE RADIATOR WAS CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION, MIXING WITH THE TRANSMISSION OIL AND DESTROYING OUR TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS ON AUGUST 12, 2010. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF OVER $4500.00. WE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND HOW COOLANT COULD BE LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION, SO WE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THIS KIND OF DAMAGE SHOULD NOT OCCUR DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. WE WERE INFORMED THAT NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS HAD BEEN FILED BUT THEY WOULD KEEP A RECORD OF OUR CALL AND WE WOULD BE CONTACTED IF THEY EVER DID A RECALL IN THE FUTURE. STILL CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT WAS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM, WE DECIDED TO GET A SECOND OPINION AT ANOTHER NISSAN DEALERSHIP, LESS THAN 15 MILES AWAY FROM THE FIRST. THIS WAS DONE ON AUGUST 30, 2010. WE WERE TOLD THE SAME THING, THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THEY WANTED OVER FIVE THOUSAND FOR THE SAME REPAIR. BEFORE MAKING A FINAL DECISION, WE DECIDED TO RESEARCH THIS ISSUE FURTHER. WE WERE AMAZED TO FIND OVER A HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ONLINE, ALL FROM OWNERS OF 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDERS, AND ALL COMPLAINING ABOUT THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS THEY HAD TO PAY TO REPAIR BOTH RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WE, TOO, WERE EXPERIENCING. WITH NO HELP OR ACKNOWLEDGE FROM NISSAN, WE WENT TO AN OUTSIDE MECHANIC AND HAD THE WORK DONE AT A MUCH LOWER COST. *TR
THE FUEL SENSOR WENT OUT ON MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND IT IS THE SAME PART THAT WAS RECALLED IN THE 2006 PATHFINDERS!!!! *TR
I OWN A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER, AND I AM THE ORIGINAL BUYER. AT APPROXIMATELY 92,000 MILES MY VEHICLE DEVELOPED THE FUEL GAUGE FAILURE WHERE THE GAUGE READS A 1/4 TANK EVEN IF FULL OR EMPTY, AND THE DTE INDICATOR IS JUST ----. I TOOK IT IN WITH 93,855 MILES IN AUGUST 2010 FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY REPAIR. THIS REPAIR WAS DECLINED FOR COVERAGE (NOT A NISSAN WARRANTY) AND I PAID $408.65 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT THE NISSAN DEALER. IN DECEMBER 2010, I RECEIVED FROM NISSAN A LETTER RELATING THIS EXACT PROBLEM/FAILURE AND THAT ALL 2005 THRU 2008 PATHFINDERS WERE BEING ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION OF UP TO 6 YEARS AND 72,000 MILES. FROM DOING RESEARCH, I UNDERSTAND NISSAN ORIGINALLY DID THIS FOR JUST 2006 THRU 2008 VEHICLES, BUT THERE WAS SUCH AN OUTCRY FROM OWNERS OF 2005S THAT THEY WERE LATER INCLUDED. IN THE NISSAN LETTER, IT STATED THAT IF YOU HAD THIS FAULT AND HAD IT REPAIRED AT YOUR EXPENSE, YOU COULD SEND IN DOCUMENTATION FOR A REFUND. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THE 6 YEAR OR 72,000 MILE LIMITATION IN THE LETTER FOR PRIOR REPAIRS. I SENT IN MY DOCUMENTATION. IT MAKES NO SENSE THAT A FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT COVER ALL REPAIRS, BUT IT APPEARS THAT THOSE WHO BOUGHT THE EARLY VEHICLES WITH OBVIOUSLY MORE MILES THAN THE NEWER ONES ARE BEING DISCRIMINATED AGAINST SINCE MY REFUND WAS DENIED. I HAVE READ ON YOUR SITE THAT MANY OTHERS WITH 2005S ARE ALSO BEING DENIED. NISSAN SHOULD DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE ONE CAN RUN OUT OF GAS AT AN INOPPORTUNE TIME, OR EVEN PUMP IN GAS AND HAVE IT OVERFLOW DUE TO THE TANK BEING FULL AND THE DRIVER NOT KNOWING IT. THEY COULD TRY TO FORCE IN FUEL DUE TO A 1/4 TANK INDICATION, AND WHILE REFUELING, AFTER PUTTING IN 3 GALLONS, THE AUTOMATIC PUMP CUTS OFF THE FLOW. THE DRIVER KNOWS THAT 3 GALLONS DID NOT FILL A 1/4 FULL TANK SO THEY KEEP PULLING THE HANDLE TRYING TO FILL THE TANK. THEY WOULD THEN BE REWARDED BY HAVING FUEL SHOOT OUT OF THE TANK POSSIBLY ON THEM , AND POSSIBLY HAVING IT IGNITE. *TR
MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER BEGAN TO SHUTTER THEN JERK BACK INTO NORMAL DRIVING AS IT REACHED SPEEDS OF 60-70 MPH. IT WAS VERY SPORADIC IN THE BEGINNING, BUT STARTED TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY AND AT LOWER SPEEDS FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK INTO NISSAN WITH 70,000 MILES, AT WHICH TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE RADIATOR LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE NEED FOR BOTH TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $6700.00. I DID ALOT OF RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH APPROXIMATELY THE SAME MILEAGE (JUST AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES) ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH A FAULTY RADIATOR SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED INTO THESE VEHICLES. THEY KEPT MY TRUCK FOR 12 DAYS WHILE TRYING TO DECIDE IF THEY WOULD OFFER ASSISTANCE WITH FIXING MY 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. THE END RESULT BEING, THAT THEY WOULD PAY TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND I WOULD PAY TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AS WELL AS THE LABOR COSTS. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS DID NOT OCCUR AS A RESULT OF ANYTHING I DID WRONG. 8-9-2010 I BEGAN HAVING DIFFICULTY GETTING MY CAR TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE. WITHIN 2 WEEKS, WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CROWDED HIGHWAY, MY CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT FROM 3RD TO 4TH, AND I COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING. WHEN I FINALLY FOUND A SPOT TO PULL OVER AND PARK, A LARGE PUDDLE OF FLUID LEAKED ALL OVER THE GROUND. I WAS ALONE, IN AN AREA I DIDN'T KNOW, AND NEARLY GOT REAR-ENDED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN IT WOULDN'T SHIFT GEARS. I TOOK IT TO SEVERAL SHOPS, AND THE TRANSMISSIONS WAS RUINED. IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED, BOTH TOTALING THOUSANDS OF $ I DON'T HAVE. I BORROWED MONEY TO HAVE IT REBUILT. WITHIN 2 WEEKS, I STARTED HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP, THE TECHNICIAN SAID RADIATOR COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED AGAIN. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, I SEE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM, APPROXIMATELY 5/2010, THE FUEL GAUGE WILL DROP TO EMPTY, EVEN THOUGH THERE WILL STILL BE FUEL IN THE TANK. SOMETIMES IT WILL STICK TO MID-FULL WHEN THERE IS NO FUEL. ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT, WHEN I START THE VEHICLE AND TRY TO WARM IT UP, IT WILL ONLY BLOW COLD AIR, NEVER WARM NO MATTER HOW LONG IT RUNS. *TR

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
THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT HAS FAILED ON MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER CAUSING THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE TO PROVIDE INACCURATE READINGS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONE MONTH AGO. AT 60,000 MILES MY ENGINE, CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED. NISSAN REPLACED THESE COMPONENTS. SHORTLY AFTER... WINTER 2010-2011 CAR WOULD NOT HEAT WHILE IDLE. HAD COOLANT REPLACED. SUMMER 2011 ACCELERATION POWER ISSUES/SHAKING. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP (NORTH POINT NISSAN IN LITTLE ROCK). REPLACED RECALLED PART (RELAY SWITCH) BUT REFUSED TO EXAMINE POWER/SLIPPAGE/HEATING ISSUES BECAUSE THE DIAGNOSTICS REPORTED I HAD A BAD BATTERY. DID NOT PLACE ONE OF THEIR BATTERIES INTO MY PATHFINDER TO FIND PROBLEM BUT SENT ME ON MY WAY TO GET A NEW BATTERY. ALSO TELLING ME THAT BAD BATTERIES CAUSE CARS TO DO CRAZY THINGS AT O'REILLY'S AUTO STORE THEY TESTED MY NEW BATTERY AND IT TESTED FINE. UNBEKNOWNST TO ME ALL OF THE SIGNS MY CAR WAS EXHIBITING WERE THE TELL TELL SIGNS OF THE RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION DEFECT. I AM STILL UNSURE WHY THEY DID NOT PICK UP THE SYMPTOMS AND PROPERLY DIAGNOSE MY AUTOMOBILE. PROBLEMS PERSISTED... THE NEXT WINTER SAME ISSUE... MORE COOLANT. IN JUNE 2012 MY PATHFINDER WOULD NOT START...DIAGNOSED WITH TRANSMISSION RADIATOR ISSUE THAT THOUSANDS HAVE EXPERIENCED. NISSAN SENT A WARRANTY EXTENSION TO MOST OWNERS OF PATHFINDERS. I WAS STRANDED WITH MY CHILDREN AT A SHOPPING CENTER. I TOOK IT FIRST TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST. HE COULD NOT REPAIR IT B/C HE COULD NOT GET THE PARTS FROM NISSAN TO FIX IT PROPER. HE SAID HE HAD SEEN 18 OF THESE 2005 PATHFINDERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. IT HAPPENS AT 60,000-120,000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP. THEY KNEW RIGHT AWAY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW, THE COOLANT FROM THE RADIATOR LEAKS INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND HOSES, SO THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. NISSAN MADE CHANGES IN THE RADIATOR TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE. I HAD TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION, TEMPERATURE GAUGE, AND RADIATOR WITH NEW. *TR

2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER S/N [XXX] . ENGINE COOLANT LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION DUE TO FAILURE OF OIL COOLER CAUSING TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I HAVE READ OVER 100 COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE AND NISSAN WILL NOT ASSIST IN THE REPAIRS. I WAS INFORMED IT WOULD COST $5,149.00 BEFORE TAXES TO GET THIS VEHICLE REPAIRED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON...BROUGHT TO DEALER ADVISED 'FUEL SENDER' UNIT CODE ERROR. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, DISCOVERED A RECALL FOR YEARS 2006 AND NEWER. VERY CONCERNED THE RECALL #10V-075 DID NOT COVER 2005 YEARS. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE OF MY VEHICLE RUNNING OUT OF GAS DUE TO A NISSAN FAULTY FUEL GAUGE/SENDING UNIT. 2005 PATHFINDER APPEARS TO BE ONE OF THE WORST RELIABLE YEARS NISSAN HAS PRODUCED THE PATHFINDER.....BUT 2005 WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL??? TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING ON THE FREEWAY WITH THE KIDS IN THE CAR. MY HUSBAND FOUND COOLANT IN THE TRANNY OIL AND THEN DID RESEARCH AND FOUND ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE. OUR CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY RADIATOR LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE TRANNY COOLANT BUILT INSIDE THE RADIATOR. *TR
THE 2005 PATHFINDER HAS LOST POWER / DIED RANDOMLY IN VARIOUS SITUATIONS 4 TIMES IN TWO MONTHS. AT LOW SPEED ACCELERATING INTO AN INTERSECTION, AT A STEADY 30MPH ON A CITY ROAD, AND AT 55MPH ON A HIGHWAY. THE FAILURE OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING. I LOSE COMPLETE POWER, THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT FADES IN AND OUT ALONG WITH OTHER LIGHTS. THIS FAILURE HAS BEEN VERY SCARY FOR MY FAMILY AS IT HAS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY 15YEAR OLD DAUGHTER LEARNING TO DRIVE. SHE HAS ALSO BEEN STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AS THE VEHICLE IS STALLED AND CANNOT BE RESTARTED. WHEN TRYING TO RE-START, THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER AND MAINTAIN A SPUTTER, BUT NOT REALLY RUN AND NOT ALLOW MOVEMENT. NO ENGINE CODES WERE FOUND AFTER TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS, SO NO REPAIRS WERE ATTEMPTED. *TR

WE OWN A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, THE GAS GAUGE STARTED WORKING ERRATICALLY. WE WOULD FILL UP THE TANK AND IT WOULDN'T REGISTER AT ALL AND THEN THE NEXT TIME WE GOT IN THE CAR IT WOULD REGISTER SOMETHING, BUT THE MILES TO EMPTY WAS NEVER ACCURATE. EVENTUALLY IT GOT TO WHERE IT DIDN'T WORK AT ALL AND JUST STAYED ON EMPTY. I FINALLY HAD TO LEARN HOW MANY MILES I WOULD GET PER TANK AND FILL UP BASED ON THAT NUMBER. THEN ONE DAY AFTER A LONG TRIP, I GOT A LITTLE OFF ON THE MILEAGE AND RAN OUT OF GAS COMPLETELY ON A MAJOR FREEWAY IN THE INSIDE LANE WITH NO SHOULDER. FORTUNATELY, I DID NOT HAVE MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND WITHIN ABOUT 10MIN OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS, A STATE TROOPER PULLED UP BEHIND ME AND PUSHED ME OUT OF HARMS WAY. HOWEVER, HAD THAT STATE TROOPER NOT SHOWN UP, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD AND IT CERTAINLY WAS DANGEROUS FOR ALL INVOLVED. IT TURNS OUT THAT NISSAN HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT ON SEVERAL OF THEIR MODELS THROUGH MULTIPLE YEARS. FOR SOME REASON, THEY DID NOT INCLUDE THE 2005 MODEL ON THEIR RECALL OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART. OUR CAR DID FAIL ITS RECENT INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY PART AND MY HUSBAND ENDED UP REPLACING IT HIMSELF AT OUR COST. I HOPE SOMETHING IS DONE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. *TR
RADIATOR DEVELOPED INTERNAL CRACK LEAKING COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION. RADIATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED, TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACED. FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILED AND REPLACED AT 70,000 MILES.
THERE'S A TRANSMISSION FLUID LINE THAT RUN IN THE RADIATOR TO COOL THE FLUID. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LINE CRACKED INSIDE THE RADIATOR CAUSING RADIATOR FLUID TO LEAK INSIDE MY TRANSMISSION. IT DESTROYED MY TRANSMISSION CAUSING A $5,000 REPAIR BILL. *TR
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM I HAD NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING ON MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DID NOT THINK IT WAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. IT GETS WORSE THE LONGER YOU DRIVE IT, BUT AGREED IT WAS NOT RIGHT AND TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST. I TOOK IT IMMEDIATELY, HE PUT THE CAR ON THE ON COMPUTER AND GOT ERROR CODES BACK, CAR IS FINE.... I EXPLAINED MY PROBLEM AGAIN AND HE DECIDED TO TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE. HE WASN'T GONE 10 MIN WHEN HE PULLS IN TO HIS GARAGE WITH TRAN FLUID POURING OUT FROM UNDER MY CAR. HE NEEDS TO USE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER AS THE FLUID IS SO HOT IT IS CATCHING ON FIRE. NOW AFTER ALL HAS SETTLED DOWN HE DOES GET ERRORS ON THE COMPUTER BUT NOTHING SPECIFIC ABOUT THE PROBLEM. HE HAS YET TO TELL ME WHAT CAUSED IT EXCEPT THAT IT IS INTERNAL. THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS MODEL AND MAKE SOMEONE HAS TO DO SOMETHING. WHAT IF I WAS DRIVING MY CHILDREN ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH GASOLINE FUEL AND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE INDICATED THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILES WERE 64,000.
I WAS INFORMED ON MONDAY, JUNE 28, 2010 THAT MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER WITH ONLY 68,900 MILES IS IN NEED OF A NEW TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. I WAS TOLD BY A CERTIFIED NISSAN TECHNICIAN THAT AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN THE RADIATOR CAUSED COOLANT FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION IS CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO BREAKDOWN. APPROX 1 MONTH AGO I NOTICED MY NISSAN PATHFINDER VIBRATING BETWEEN 40-60 MPH. IT TOOK THREE TIMES TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THIS PROBLEM. APPARENTLY, THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ISOLATED TO MY VEHICLE ALONE. I GOOGLED THE "2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER TRANSMISSION PROBLEM" AND DISCOVERED 100 PLUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT TAKING OWNERSHIP TO THIS PROBLEM. THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE. MY FEAR IS PATHFINDER OWNERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES WILL DRIVE THESE VEHICLES UNBEKNOWNST TO THEM THERE IS AN ISSUE AND THE TRANSMISSION MAY SEIZE CAUSING AN MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT. *TR
